I went in to check out the computers. They were very busy and I was still greeted immediately. They were very easy to deal with and not pushy at all. I ended up getting a great deal on a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar. The computer is awesome. The service was amazing. I read some previous reviews saying they were not taking covid seriously. When I was in there it looked to me like they were doing their best to follow guidelines. The employees were wearing masks and did their best to keep customers a good distance from each other. I bought my 21.5 imac from them about 6 months ago. It was a steal for $795. The price was reduced due to a blemish on the screen. It still works perfectly. I also upgraded my mac book air a few weeks ago. They replaced my solid state drive with a larger capacity. They were professional, price was reasonable, and the laptop came back working perfectly. My software and all my data was transferred and upgraded at no charge. I'd would recommend them to all my family and friends before purchasing a brand new mac. Today, I upgraded my imac to mountain lion and the software that runs windows 7 on it was not compatible. I'm bummed because I use the windows OS periodically to work on finances for work. I've sent DC an email. I know they'll help me out. They responded and stated they'll update my software at no charge. That's as good as it gets......Apple wouldn't have done it since it was a windows issue. read more

Awesome service. Have used them before to buy a MacBook for a friend. This time I got my vehicle broken into and the guy got caught with my computer the next day so I got it back from the police. The crook wiped my computer so I brought it to D.C. And they reinstalled everything. I thought my battery needed replacement so I requested them to do that as well: They could've easily charged me for a new battery but were honest enough to tell me my old battery is still 80% efficient. I am giving this place a 1 star. A few days back I took my IMac in the store to have a "Diagnostic test" due to the power outlet being fried. The guy "Chris Donnelly" was friendly from the start to finish the day I brought the Mac in. He Informed me about the $30 etc. I got a call saying that my computer was beyond repair and that they would have no problem selling me a new one. And ask what would happen to mine IMac and they said it would be recycled. I went in the store with the intention of spending $1000-$1500 on a new computer since mine was beyond repair. I arrived at the store and already wasn't getting very good vibes from I believe Danny the "Owner". He was rude from the start as if I was inconveniencing his day. I asked him about a iMac and pricing and didn't hear a part of what he was saying I then asked "What did you say" so he decided so slow it down and talk to me like I was slow. I don't have time for people like that and sure and the hell am not gonna spend my money with people like this. He rang me up once I cut him off and just told him to grab my computer. Honestly I don't think they did a "Diagnostic" on anything. It was pretty apparent the damage and felt they could've helped me out in the first place and been straight up knowing that the damage was severe. Although others may recommend this place I am not going to. FYI I plugged my computer cord in the new one I ordered off eBay and what do you know My computer works. I had another stellar customer service experience with DC Computers on December 23. I have a laptop and run Windows as well as MAC on MAC computer. I messed up the Windows side and took it in for repair. Nate repaired it in ONE DAY, no small feat at Xmas time. They only charged me the $89.00 fee to upgrade to Windows 10~ even though they had to reinstall the VM Ware Fusion, Quickbooks program and all of my data! No charge for all of that , in addition to upgrading VM Ware to latest edition. They are such nice guys, providing a high quality service at a reasonable price. You can't ask for better service...I recommend them to everyone that I know who needs computer help, whether repair or purchase! read more

The first guy I met was short with me. I mean, like really short. He didn't ask my name or give me any claim receipt or anything. He just asked what I needed, said how much it would cost, then grabbed my computer and said with his back to me: "Be back in 15 minutes." I stood staring at an empty room: "Okay?" 15 minutes later I came back, paid the fee to second guy. Keegan, I think it was. Very nice. But he also seemed to think it was weird that I didn't have any claim receipt or name of who took my computer. Then Keegan says "what's your password, we need to check and make sure the new battery works okay." I asked if they couldn't bring my computer out to me and let me put the password in. But Keegan in the nicest way possible said no. "We did clean up some weird mold-like substance inside your computer though. It's a pretty common problem." I was thinking of not writing a review because of how kind he was, but I don't like the system here. Lack of greeting, lack of info on how they work, and then pointless privacy-invading rules at the end. I barely brought my computer here in the first place, because of how easy I here it is to change out the battery, but I gave them a chance and wanted a nice experience. :-( read more

My MacBook Pro (late 2008) has finally suffered the mother-board of death. I bought this computer from DC Computers in 2012 as I would rather give local businesses the hand up instead of large evil corporations (who said corporations are evil? Don't they provide most of the jobs in the world) (sorry, my ADD or ADHD or whatever my multi-mind attention span focused on twenty things at the same time gets in the way sometimes). Back to the story... I tried several youtube options, SMC reset, battery, power reset, etc. I have changed a drive, ram, batteries and this computer just kept going and going. I pushed this thing to its max for so long it finally said..."James, I am glad you backed me up once a day, otherwise you would be S.O.L. So now, I am going to sleep with the fishes." Never knew my mac was in the "family". Good news for me, the drive was fine, we placed it into another system and for a few greenbacks I was out the door with a newish system that flies like old faithful originally did. I know my writing is horrible. But come on...this is yelp for **** sake. Chris and Austin are great. They gave me a "thanks for being a loyal customer" discount. I will see you again in 5ish years when I start having trouble. Excellent customer service. They also sell laptop PC's (but what's the point in that) and of course Mac Laptops, iMacs and Accessories. Local Note: Try the bagel place next to DC Computers while you are waiting. Can't remember the name but it is close. I had everything bagel with turkey, avocado, tomato and melted swiss! Damn! These folks were stellar when my computer died with a bad video card and failing hard drive. They worked with me when I made a poor first choice of hard drive (too small). They worked with me when my backup software resulted in formatting the new, larger drive into temporary unusability. They worked with that same backup software -- new to them -- to help get my data back to the restored drive. All along they couldn't have been nicer and more professional. Every exchange​ is an opportunity to make a customer​ for life - or a customer​-for-never-again. I'm the latter. I bought an item, was in a hurry, and needed a receipt for the business. He asked for my name and I said, "Just make it 'cash'." He said, "If you want a receipt, I need your name." I was annoyed and turned to leave. He said, "I can just make it 'customer.' (So he lied?) I said, "Ok." Then he continued with, "Is it that big a deal to give your name?" I said, "Yes, I am in a hurry and it saves 30 seconds. And it's my choice!" It cost me $3.33 more than it would have been on Amazon! $12.88 vs. $9.55. And the box comes w a SMILE on it! It took me 20 minutes to get over this minor upset. These guys are the best. I took my Macbook pro in there a few months ago when I broke the screen. It was only around $500 to replace the entire top half of the unit, and they did it the SAME DAY as opposed to $800+ and two weeks at the Apple Store. In a few hours I had it back cleaned and looking like new! I just called them about a battery replacement as some Macbook Pro models like mine are being recalled and banned from airlines for overheating batteries and I have to travel soon. I spoke to Daniel, who ascertained that mine didn't need to be replaced, when he could easily have sold me a new battery and I would have been none the wiser. Cheap, fast, top quality and honest... where do you find THAT combo? I will never have my Apple products fixed anywhere else! I decided to get a new battery anyway -- and of course I'll do it at DC Computers! read more

Long story short Had DC Computers replace my MacBook Pro battery. Replacement battery was faulty, so they replaced it with a replacement. That battery was faulty too, so they ran their diagnostics on my machine. My computer was now shutting off and turning back on randomly, which hadn't happened prior to bringing it into DC Computers. They claimed I had a bad graphics card and needed to replace my logic board. I had them put my original battery back in. Everything seemed to be fine again. Took it into Apple for a second option, and was told my logic board and graphics card are in perfect condition. The battery needs to be replace (the original reason I took it into DC) but everything else was showing up as free and clear. Apple guy said they probably used cheap batteries or installed them incorrectly. I wasted 5 trips, 3 days, and $25 on a false diagnostic and faulty work. Long story long Took my MacBook Pro in to have the battery replaced. It wasn't charging properly, and the "Replace Now" notification was popping up. My initial encounter with the team was fine. The few guys behind the counter were short, but not rude. About an hour and $250 later my computer had a new battery in it. So far, so good. I take it back to my office, power it back up, and everything seems fine. However, when my battery dropped to 45% my machine just shut off. No warning, no reason. I try plugging it in and turning it back on, but it has trouble powering back on. It turns on, then off, then on again, without me touching a thing. This has NEVER happened to me before. My old battery was done for, but it never powered off without a warning, and certainly never turned on and off without me pressing the power button. So, I take my computer back in, explain the issue, and they decide to replace the replacement battery. They say the first replacement battery was faulty, and that a new one will fix the problem. The guys are still pretty short, but seem slightly more irritable than last time. A few hours later I pick it up, take it back to my office, and experience the same issue. I finally get it to stay on, and trying using the charger they sold me to give it some juice. Yet another issue, the charger wouldn't properly charge my computer. Orange light (charging) would turn off (not charging) then turn to green (fully charged) every 30 seconds. My battery wasn't receiving proper charge, so back to DC Computers I go. DC Computers keeps it for about 24 hours to run diagnostics on it and to get to the root of the battery issue. I check in the next day to see what the prognosis is, and they tell me I have a bad graphics chip and need to have my logic board replaced for about $700. Over the past 24 hours, they said that they watched my computer with my original battery back in, both while plugged in to the charger and while working off battery power, and said it would turn off randomly and refuse to turn back on. I explained that I didn't have any issues with my computer randomly turning off and on before they replaced my original battery, and find it oddly coincidental that these issues have popped up all at once after taking it into DC Computers. I am a graphic designer and use my computer all day, every day running graphically demanding programs, and have never had issues with the screen or power (except for the bad battery issue). I ask them to put my original battery back in, they agree and tell me I will be get a refund minus a $25 diagnostic fee. I pick my computer up... again... and take it back to the office. Everything seems fines. The battery won't last without being plugged in (which was normal) but my computer seemed normal again with the original battery back in. In fact, while plugged in, it stayed on the remainder of the work day. Not once did it shut off randomly on the reinstalled original battery, like they claimed it had done in the shop. For a second option I took my computer into the Apple store for a free diagnostic. The Apple Genius ran the test in less than 5 minutes, and reported that beside the old, tired battery everything was in perfect running condition. The logic board was in perfect condition, the graphic card was in perfect condition. He did recommend that I have the battery replaced, which was the original reason I went to DC Computer, but that Apple would only charge $199 for the service. He said that DC Computer had either installed the replacement batteries incorrectly or used crappy, non-Apple batteries. In total, I drove to DC computers 5 times over 3 days and paid $25 for a false diagnosis after that screwed up twice. I missed hours of work because of a false diagnostic and faulty work/parts, and wasted gas and personal time driving back and forth. If you are a Mac owner, take your machine to the Apple store first! Make an appointment, wait in line, do whatever you have to do. They are much friendlier and give you a true Apple diagnosis. read more

When my Macbook Pro battery swelled up and separated the computer bottom, I called Apple because of my extended warranty. They were very nice (as always) and since all Apple stores are now closed because of COVID, they offered to send me a shipping box so I could send the computer I use everyday for business and personally and they would replace the battery for free. All sounded good except I can't afford to be without my computer for two weeks. I called trusted IT guys, two of whom went out of business. One sent me the specs for buying from Amazon and then checked out others to schedule me in. I was still two weeks out. Best Buy would not see my until February 5th. I called a trusted vendor, DC Computers in Hillcrest and was given a number of choices from $100 for 5 days to $250 for next day service. Not having my computer for two weeks versus next day for $250 was a no brainer. I took it down to them and got a call four hours later that it was done!! Besides being great, personable and very professional, my computer is working fine, cleaned and looks brand new. These guys are great with great service and prices. read more
