Good music mediocre food. Five star music one star food. For my wife and I it is a daunting task to order from the menu, we have tried most items on the menu and find them all to be mediocre. We had our worst dining experience here, my wife ordered a steak well done, it came rare, we sent it back, it was filleted and burned into two pieces of shoe leather. Shei didn't eat it I paid $35 for the french fries that it came with. We continue to go to dazzle for the music, but we have gotten to the point where we order a bottle of wine to satisfy their minimum requirement. read more

Attentive, but uncaring. We went for recent Mother's Day brunch. While I'm not a jazz fan, the music was good, and provided perfect ambiance along with the decor of the restaurant. The buffet was good. Usually buffets just phone it it's, they let stuff sit and don't seem to offer their best food. But everything on the buffet was good. It was constantly being refreshed. Food was good. Issue we had was my daughter ordered a mimosa. When it came it oooked like a mimosa and my daughter took a sip. Turns out there was pineapple in the drink. My daughter is allergic. Turns out they mixed up the drink. Manager came over, we asked if they might have a Benadryl. They did, and brought us one. It was two years past the expiration date. I ran down the block to get her a good one. They never checked back, never stopped by again, yet they had time to refold napkins every time people left the table. To add insult to injury, the bill had suggested tips on it, starting at 22%. For a buffet. Not horrible, not great. Not sure if we'd go back again. read more

Getting our dinner took a while, but CODY delivered our meals perfectly done, salmon piccata and halibut steak. CODY also gave us a $30 credit to encourage us to test them out again. So I know my friend Danielle V is going to give me hell for only giving this 4 stars, but anyone who has read my previous reviews knows that a place really has to wow me to get all 5. Don't get me wrong, I was pretty impressed with Dazzle. It was a cool restaurant/bar with a music room, mostly for jazz. We didn't go in to see the show on this night, and maybe that would have gotten it the extra star. Dazzle is kinda small, at least on the restaurant side. We arrived around 4:30 for happy hour and every table that would fit our party (6) was already reserved for various parties at 7. We were able to convince the waitress to let us use one since we only planned on hanging out for Happy Hour. We started with cocktails, I personally had a scotch old fashioned, which was very good. The ladies all ordered various martinis and raved about them. Our waitress, Monique, had a special little shaker dance to add to the ambiance. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers since they were all $5 for Happy Hour. Each of the ones I had a chance to try were fabulous and my only complaint would be the portion size. Maybe they make smaller portions for the Happy Hour priced ones. After a few more drinks we all ordered dinner and again it was very good. I ordered the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Pizza and was pleasantly surprised with just the right amount of kick. Service was great, the ambiance was fabulous. Perhaps next time i will get the wow factor that gets 5 stars, but all in all I definitely recommend Dazzle to anyone looking for some place just a little different, especially for Happy Hour. read more

Extremely disgusted and disappointed by the staff handling of Mother's Day reservations. I, a mother and regular to Dazzle, have been hinting at how much I wanted to do Mothers Day brunch for several years now. My husband reached out by phone almost a week ago and finally was able to get a hold of someone that called back after several days. We have a large family and required a party of 8 but were okay with being seated at two tables. The staff member on the phone, after about a 10 min hold, told my husband that was not possible despite having the room b/c he said that never "works out well" even though we were completely fine with it. Then, on asking if we could just do one table for 4 only, the staff member said no because he "knew" my husband would just try to call back and get a second table. Seriously??? Who cares??? If you have the space, let people use it. This man clearly has mom issues. Thanks for ruining the day. I'm very much regretting all those recommendations I gave to other fellow mothers to come to Dazzle. Will NEVER be back. read more

Wow! Came for the 2 trio show tonight and it was amazing. The music was great! This was my first jazz show and it did not dissappoint. I will definetly be back to this venue! The food was amazing - the manager, service, ambiance, EVERYTHING was great! My group and I were made to feel like VIP guests from start to finish! Special shout out to Boris, he was attentive and such a pleasure to talk to. He won me over especially when I asked for hot sauce and he brought me at least 6 different options. I liked this place so much I went to the Friday Lunch 2 weeks in a row because my flights to and from Denver were timed just right. This is a cool Jazz spot, I'd compare it to Ryle's Jazz Club in Cambridge, MA. The musicians played well - some originals and covers, appropriate volume, but they did take a long break (over 20min). Th prix fixe 3 course lunch was a great deal - $13 and I almost couldn't finish it. The drinks were also reduced price and strong. My second lunch was their Muffaletta, which was tasty and LOADED with meat. The mussels were also decent, with great sauce. read more

Have heard about Dazzle for years and finally made a night of it. Super friendly staff, extremely quick service and great drinks which were a reasonable price for a show. The singer was Emaline and her voice was amazing. For those who complain about the signs asking for no talking...well it is a jazz club and people go to hear the music not your conversation. Soft, live piano music playing while you eat, a HUGE breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets, waffles, and crepes; and a bloody mary bar. Excellent food and experience! After mixing up dates for unicorn goat yoga and looking for something to do on a Saturday morning in Denver, I stumbled upon Dazzle. A jazz buffet?! How fun I thought. I was not disappointed. The band was playing merrily upon entering and without having to wait I was seated right away. The food was good, with a great variety. There was a pancake bar with Oreos, chocolate chips, nuts and sprinkles (but no whipped cream). What is a more dazzling breakfast item than whipped cream?? Your everyday bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy followed. Then there was Barbacoa , green chili and grits, fresh made tortillas and salsa/ cheese. That selection was my favorite, and unexpected. There's a wide selection of juices, coffee and teas as well. Mimosas are only $3. I was concerned about what the bill was going to come out to be as the price was not listed anywhere. Imagine my delight when receiving the bill to find it was only $15! Been here twice in past 5 months. Love the space, the historic bldg/architecture, and the music. The stage, sound and setup of the dining room is great. The ownership seems on top of their game. Last week saw Annie Booth Trio perform Vince Guraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas suite. Unfrickinbelievable! So great!! Annie, and her Drummer and Bass player exceeded expectations - wow, it was so awesome. Annie killed on the piano! Can't wait to see other music performed by the trio. The only issue was the service and food. Server was sweet and pleasant, but somewhat clueless and unaware. This is the second meal I've had at Dazzel, some things are good, but some were disappointing. Don't get the Paella...this past summer it was not good at all...maybe they've improved it?? Last week, the salmon (mashed potatoes, sautéed spinich) entree was very good, but not much creativity for the price. No bread served either and it took 20 minutes for our server to greet us and then another 15 minutes before we got cocktails - and we were early, it wasn't busy. The gin cocktail was not so impressive (and very little too). The wedge salad was decent. The truffled fries are ridiculously average at best...if you want good ones I guess you gotta go to Philly...or at least somewhere else in Denver. Bottom line, love Dazzle - but they need to step it up a notch or two in the kitchen - they've got good basics down, but I've yet to be DAZZLED by the food. Here's hoping! read more

Went for brunch Easter Sunday. Service was great! Music was great! Food was not great. The brunch was very small and food was not fresh. Cold gravy. Salad dressing was warm in a container without ice. Hummus was dry and crusty on top. I could go on and on about the low quality and small selection of food. Not sure if I would try this again. I wish I had found this place sooner! Totally old school Jazz club - when you walk it it's like a time warp to the 70's, you can't recreate whatever funky wall coverings and wooden lounge chairs they have, it just wouldn't be the same. They play music in the front room in addition to the jazz room which is completely legit: people are here for the music and food and drinks are secondary. The music here was a solid mix of bands and styles - I'm of the slow, meandering or NOLA style persuasion but the variety is appreciated. The band communicated well and the bassist was especially fantastic! The audience was a bit older but there were still plenty of younger people sprinkled throughout, and the front room was pretty much all a younger crowd. Although all we got was carrot cake (nom!) the staff went the extra mile to make me a stiff White Russian :) :) Loved the venue so much we actually stuck around for another drink (which the pace I drink at is like 2 drinks) which says a lot :) read more

I hadn't been to the new location so a friend and I went for drinks, appetizers, and dinner after a DCPA show. The space is nice, and the music that evening was good, although it ended fairly early. We heard two songs and they wrapped up by 10:30 PM. There was no one at the door and after we started to head toward a table, the manager somewhat rudely intercepted and told us to wait for somewhat to seat us. A young guy came running. We sat for several minutes before anyone came over and when the waitress came, she was incredulous that we didn't know our order, but no one had brought us menus or even water by that point. She was the kind of waitress who had little patience and lots of eye rolls. She remains in that negative attitude for the duration of our evening. My drink and dinner were excellent, but my friend's appetizer was off. It cleared out fairly quickly after the music ended and by 11 PM, although hours are posted as being open until 1 AM, we were the only ones left and we felt uncomfortable (by the staff cleaning up around us, stealing glances) to stay any longer. read more

This was a great location in proximity to the 16th street mall but a surprising experience. I went to celebrate my friend's birthday with a group of eight (8). First, however, I had to pay a cover charge online for $20.00 plus a $3.20 fee and was put on a "will call" list. There was a fun Latin Jazz band playing that night so that makes sense as long as the band got paid their fair share. I showed up a few minutes after the first part of our group showed up but got some serious guff (bad attitude) from the front host. He was the tall guy (in case you run into him). He came across as if he'd been working all night and was just over the whole, "treat customers nicely" thing. He couldn't find my name on the will-call list and finally, after a polite hostess showed up to help, my name was found on the wrong list and I was finally let in. I met with my group. All eight of us were placed in an awkward spot between the bar and a couple of high-stool tables. People were bumping into us all evening as they traveled back and forth. There were lots of other tables and booths that would've easily accommodated our group but were never given the option to sit in those. The server was fantastic. She was polite and quick. They had a great system for dividing a check so that was a nice bonus. I personally ordered the meatballs and a couple of whiskeys. Excellent prep on sauce and respectable choice of spirits. Ended up paying a total of $30 for dinner plus that cover charge. Surprisingly, it wasn't the greatest experience in downtown for that price. I just made the most delicious eggs-and-brisket tacos, poured a pineapple juice, and sat down near the band Cashmere Sweater. Cool vibe from the band, friendly staff and excellent food. I haven't been to Dazzle since 2014 when they were located on Lincoln! Stopped in today for the Friday jam session and lunch. The music and the food (3 course meal for $13 ) were both good. I like Dazzle because it has good Jazz , decent prices and a lot of free events. The new location is on Curtis and feels more open (floor plan and interior) than the previous. Stumbled upon a great little spot today for brunch. I must admit, when the told me that it was buffet today, I was skeptical. But, I'm was delighted when I found green chile, delicious tortillas, and carnitas on the breakfast buffet. Service was fantastic. And live jazz topped it all off. And all a short walk from my hotel. This is by far my favorite place to have brunch. the food is great and so is the ambience. The staff here are friendly and attentive; even though it is a self serve, all you can eat buffet for brunch. I always feel the staff/management truly want to ensure you are having an enjoyable time. the food that is served at dazzle is a nice wide variety from normal breakfast foods, omelette/egg bar, to some of the best mac & cheese I have ever eaten (with the exception of Tom's home cooking and hops and pie). They have a candy bar for those with sweet teeth and a chocolate fountain. If you enjoy a fresh non-premade bloodymary, this is your place, the bloodymary bar is outstanding as well as their bottomless mimosas. They have a decent selection of food to choose from for a fairly big break buffet, but just remember it is still buffet-style food (so some tasted like it was sitting like it was heated because it was). There are signs on the table saying "no talking" and the servers shirt said "just listen". Not that we saw much of him. Came here for brunch a couple of weeks ago and the whole experience was lovely. The jazz in the background set a nice morning ambiance. The crepes were to die for, and $2 mimosas were more than i expected! We came here because our normal brunch place, the Wash Park Grille, wasn't satisfying our brunch expectations and Dazzle definitely outperformed. Will definitely be coming back. read more

The only reason they are getting a three star is because eif the spicy pickle band that played last night. They were the livest part of this place. The food was over priced for the portions. The margherita pizza consist of just basil apparently... No mozz no tomato. Their features salad was the size of a side salad. I recommend you eat elsewhere then come here for the jazz but at the price you pay or cover you would hope that there would be some soul in the place. You'll be more entertained watching the dancers. Idk don't take this review lightly coming from the Northeast this place lacks energy. Saxophone player literally was the only one who killed it and moved the audience. This lounge is the hottest place in the 720 and possibly the 313. The food in this place will make your taste buds play hop scotch and the insane jazz flute solos will literally melt your face (see my profile pic, it happened in this place). Sometimes you gotta down yourself a Morning Monster and get yourself through the day, but when it's all over and you wanna relax to some silky smooth jazz, DazzleJazz (the DazzleJazzlest) is the place that you wanna be at. If you don't go here or give it a bad review, you should see me personally and make sure you come correct. Go to DazzleJazz or lose your health insurance. Bound to happen. The aesthetic is wonderful and the live music provided a wonderful atmosphere. Service was constantly resourceful and polite however I found the food to be mediocre. I found myself being disapointed by the buffet and my mother and sister agreed. Generic cereal pancakes and eggs were the main options and most of the options for sauce were just empty bottles. The hot chocolate was very average and I found that the quality of the food was painfully average, and frankly, overpriced. The amazing aesthetic created the deception this was a fancy restaurant but ultimately it was average food presented and priced as upscale quality brunch. Came here for dinner on a Thursday night and ordered the mac & cheese (which sounds amazing on the menu) with added chicken and a side of brussel sprouts. The mac & cheese tasted like something I could've easily made at home out of a box and the added chicken was not appetizing... it was small chunks and I was expecting fresh shredded chicken or sliced chicken breast. Me and my friend happened upon this gem when Sam's next door was packed. It happened to be open and neither of us had been there so we gave it a shot. And we are so glad we did! The ambience is awesome; there was an amazing woman singing and playing the piano and it was super chill and relaxing. The food (everything was on point!) and the service were both excellent. Dazzle brunch, which is much heralded about town but was a huge disappointment to me. First, the reservation process is peculiar. You call their phone and after a lengthy recording you are told to leave your name and a time and if they DON'T call you back, you're confirmed. Not very reassuring and wholly unprofessional. Open Table would be a huge upgrade for these folks. Once seated, the service was friendly and attentive, but the brunch itself was a flummoxed hodge podge of oddly arranged and incongruent options. Examples: crème brulee in Turkish demi cups next to Red Vines perched on a plate. Hardboiled eggs, next to big boxes of cereal. Sprinkle dounts on a saucer? This was on the "continental" side. I guess Red Vines are big on the "continent". Who knew the French and Spanish love prepackaged American red licorice. And as a breakfast item no less. On the "hot" side were some weird concoctions, most notable was the gnocchi stroganoff. And canned corn and meatloaf is not a breakfast option I ever want. The bacon and sausage were decent. To be fair, this brunch has a very low price point, so from that regard there is some value. But this was more Best Western breakfast than fine brunch. Quantity over volume please. Then there was the jazz, a soulless trio of passionless pointless pabulum. I get this is supposed to be mellow Sunday morning back round music. But this was less Sade and more Barney and his Dinosaur triangle band. The woeful singer played the bongos like a distracted nursing home attendant pulling sheets across a bed and fluffing pillows to the beat of an oxygen machine. The bass player occasionally displayed a modicum of dexterity and the pianist must have learned on Fisher Price and never graduated to Steinway. It wasn't awful nor was it good enough for a return visit. When your name is Dazzle, you set a high bar. I would name this place "Eh" read more

This review is for Dazzle's Jazz Brunch, which, by the way, is all you can eat. Normally I'm grossed out by buffets. The idea of everyone all digging into the same dishes is not too appealing to me. However, if you pair a buffet with brunch, bottomless mimosas/bloody marys and jazz, I will eat the crap out of a buffet. Dazzle's jazz brunch has been around for a good few years and I've been twice. Each time, I've left so full that I fell into a food coma the minute I arrived home. Is the food you get at the buffet-style brunch the best food you will ever have? No. But it's pretty dang good for buffet food. They also have an omelet and crepe bar, where a chef will make your food the way you want it right there. And the drinks. One morning cocktail (mimosa or bloody mary) is $5; bottomless is $10. Guess what the better deal is? The bartender made a pretty nice spicy bloody and for mimosas, they just fill you up with champagne and you choose your juice: orange, grapefruit, apple or cranberry. My friends were garnishing their mimosas with fruit from the buffet. Brilliant! As with all brunches in Cap Hill, the place gets packed after 11 or so, but it's wide open around 10. This is also a decidedly less hipster crowd than many other brunch spots in the area. There's a nice mix of young and old, families and friends. While this may not be an every weekend sort of place, I highly recommend having Jazz Brunch at least once in your life. read more

Stop in around 930 to see if we could catch some live tunes. Sure for 12 bucks we could be seated behind the curtain and catch whatever group was swooning *OR* sit in the bar amidst its dim lights and swingin decor and listen to the band over the speakers. After hearing a few cat calls, I'm glad I didn't lay down dough for that set. The vodka martini was smooth like silk and my Pama Mama wasn't sweet but packed a punch. At 1030 a group went on the the little landing in the bar area (no charge here!) and started to jive. I love that the opening song was from Eryka Badhu (sp) and that they were playing this old skool Caribbean enhanced music. Kudos to the pianist. The jalapeno artichoke dip didn't pack a punch and was very creamy. French press coffee was strong and a great note to end the night. Why not 5 stars? Small cramped magenta pink bathroom with one working toilet. That and we were seated in front of the Men's WC.... yea every time the door opened I could see a guy standing at the urinal. read more

I really, really liked Dazzle before last night. But, now I absolutely love it! I went to a beer tasting/dinner here and it was so delicious! We started off with Hurricanes paired with crawfish creme cheese puffs, some sort of tapenade crostini thing and hush puppy wrapped hot links. Is your mouth watering yet? Then we moved onto a crawfish and shrimp salad with a citrusy dressing which was paired with a Dixie Jazz Light beer that complemented the dressing perfectly. And then came the ribs.... Ribs so soft we could cut them with a spoon. What kind of seasoning you ask? Watermelon BBQ of course. Served with grits, greens and the Dixie Lager, I could seriously eat this all the time. It was a hard course to follow, but the blackened catfish paired with a Blackened Voodoo beer we had next didn't disappoint. Finishing the meal was homemade cookies and absinthe. All delicious! Beside the great food our service was impeccable and the live band awesomely entertaining. How much does this cost an average person you ask? A mere $35 plus tax and tip. I highly recommend Dazzle any night of the week and certainly during these tastings they have. read more
