I'll start off by saying that the woman running this place is super nice and very likable. That is the reason I'm giving 3 stars. Someone I know recommended this place for nail design work, which I have never gotten done - I stick with basic acrylics w/ gel polish because I have never found a great nail tech in the Dayton area that I trust to do ombré, designs, or anything else that involves some attention to detail. Her nails looked good so I decided to give it a try for an event I was going to attend. I set an appointment via their Facebook and specifically noted that I need someone who can do flame/Fire designs on my acrylic nails with a fill in. The appointment was accepted. I get to my appointment on Thursday and am asked what I want. I said I requested an appointment to get flame designs for an event that weekend. She told me nobody was available for that and I could pick a color for paint. Um, what? This is the only reason I came to this location. If I wanted my usual gel color I would have gone to my usual place. What's the point of an appointment if what you want is disregarded? There were two other nail techs working, and both were doing designs on their customers nails. One was leaving after her client, and the other said nothing (I believe she had another appointment coming in after but idk). One of them told my nail tech to use stickers since she does not have the capability of doing designs by hand. I agreed to it. She did a great job with the acrylic fill in and she was very nice. The shapes looked good also. Unfortunately she did not know how to apply stickers either... and my only option for color were white flames (I wanted black). She had to redo the stickers several times and kept saying she didn't have the patience for it. In the end, the stickers were uneven and not centered on my nails and the top coat got globby so they do not sit smoothly/flat. It was not at all want I wanted but I didn't have time to go anywhere else before the event so I settled for what I got. The best part about it is the stickers actually glow in the dark. She gave me a punch card to get a discount after so many punches, which is great but I don't think I'll be back. I got too many bad vibes in there and left feeling pretty let down. The price was lower than my usual place and she did not charge me for the stickers since she wasn't used to applying them. She seems like a good person, so I wish her business well. read more

I went here as a new customer from California. I made an appointment for a fill and pedicure. I arrived early, a young lady said she could start my pedicure. okay...she started my pedicure, she never did my cuticles, and clean under my nails. In fact my feet never hit the water until AFTER she had painted my nails. Then she said she would let me sit while she went and did. other ladies manicure. She finally came back and did my massage. By time my pedicure had been done it was 50 minutes passed my appointment time. I sat in the chair for some time and decided to get up to perhaps let them know I was waiting for a fill. Finally the owner called me over. Within a week my gel polish was peeling on an index finger and the opposite thumb. I called to let them know. I had never had that happen before. I mentioned that to her using my arrival. She removed the polish and repainted. the following day another nail started peeling. At this point I will not waste anymore time outta my life. You have lost a customer that would've paid your rather high fees for below standard services. read more

It's hit or miss at this place. The last visit will be my last visit. The nail tech was very busy chatting on her phone while doing a manicure. It was laying flat near me and turned up very loud. I asked if she would turn it off, but no luck. She also had music in her earbuds, I think. I told her that it was very distracting, but she said that it didn't distract her. Our group had a great experience at Dayton Nails & Spa! I made a reservation via phone call about a month in advance, as I had a bridal party group that I wanted to make appointments for. They took all of our information over the phone, and were flexible when I called in two more times to change the total number of people in the group. The space was large & clean, and definitely had the capacity for our group + additional people. They were able to get through our group (with 8 manicures, and 8 pedicures) in about 2.5 hours with 3 nail techs, and we were extremely satisfied with the timeliness of the reservation. They were courteous, friendly, and welcoming to our large group. Also, they allowed us to bring champagne + orange juice into the salon to have some wedding weekend mimosas for the occasion - which was a super fun touch! We made sure to bring our own cups and cleaned up after ourselves, but we truly appreciated them allowing us to do so. Finally - their selection of colors is HUGE! They have regular polish, gel polish, and dipping powder in a huge variety of colors. They were even able to do a beautiful french mani with the dipping powder for one person in our group, and it was beautiful. I originally came here for acrylic nails before and though Trinny made my nails look beautiful, 1-3 entire nails would pop off within 2 days to a week of me having them done. I have had acrylics since I was 11 years old... I have NEVER experienced the entire nail coming off like that except when I came to Dayton Nail Spa. I tried several times but the acrylic materials were not worth the price all for me to go back to have it fixed & have to spend more money for something that should have never happened. Today I decided to try the place one last time. Not for acrylics but for a semi pedicure. I never go get pedicures as I do my own. However, I broke a couple of my toenails and wanted them to look more uniform so I scheduled a 12pm appointment to have polygel applied to them. I arrived 10 min prior to my appointment. I could tell within 5 minutes that my appointment wouldn't start on time. I had a little time to spare so I waited and waited 40 minutes after my appointment time. She told me where to sit but then sat down to prep another lady's nails who showed up half an hour after I did who's appointment was at 12:30! I scheduled the appointment for 12 pm at 9:45. I left. I told her I'd come back another day but I can't go back there. That's terrible business management. I am an idiot for coming back after my experiences with my nails but to insult your customer's time is not something I can tolerate. I made an appointment for a reason. Please be considerate of your customers time and be decent enough to apologize when you're behind or reschedule the appointment. I wanted this to be a good experience, especially with it being a small, local business. But this gel manicure didn't even make it 4 days. The lady who did my nails (I forget her name) was very rude, and messed up my left thumb (pictured) and then blamed me for it messing up (??). Seriously. My skin was really bothered afterwards, and she picked the skin away around my index and thumb on my left hand (pictured). I never get my nails done anymore, so this was a treat for myself since i work 60+ hours a week. Not so much. I won't be going back, and I wanted to save others who are looking for a gel manicure. I really wanted this to be a good nail salon but after my second try I will not be returning. The first time I went I had a gel manicure and pedicure done. Both were not good! My gel manicure only lasted about 4 days and my pedicure I had to fix myself. This evening I went in for gel removal and basic pedicure and the lady asked me if I could come back tomorrow. Mind you it was 6:00 and they don't close till 7:30. They had 3 employees working and each was with someone but really?! This is my second time coming here and my most recent experience wasn't great. It took over two and a half hours for just a dip manicure, which takes maximum 45 minutes all the times I've gotten a dip manicure previously. The lady who was doing my nails was super nice, but she kept stopping in the middle of my manicure to do other people's nails or to check her phone. My dip manicure didn't even turn out great either. It's super thick overall, has smudges on a few of the nails and my nails aren't consistent with each other, some being more thin or thick than others. The first time I came here the service was great and my nails turned out great. It was clear this time the two ladies working were overwhelmed with the influx of customers (there were probably seven other ladies waiting to get their nails done). Although they were super nice and apologetic, I'd recommend the store not accept any walk ins because they clearly can't handle it. read more

Yesterday I walked in with an appointment. First red flag was I walk in and everyone looked and greeted me but when they asked me what my services were and I said I had an appointment no one wanted me. Finally girl on the end said she would do my fill and it took her 2 hours to fill and repaint my nails. She obviously was new and I wasn't trying to be rude but she didn't know not how to properly lay acrylics. They were chunky and I was so upset but by that time all the other workers had customers. Everyone finished before I was still done ON MY FILL IN. Worst part, the owner approaches my girl and says I'll finish painting her nails and then tells me she will give me discount and that she'll do my nails next time. Not only that she cut my cuticle and i have several nails already lifting one day later cause they are on my skin.
