We stopped into Daylight Donuts twice during our weekly long trip to Breck. The lady and gent behind the counters (same workers both times) were very friendly and accommodating. The cafe is set just off Main Street and has a homey feel to it. The coffee is just ok but everything else was terrific. We ordered the corn beef hash, a breakfast burrito, pancakes, and donuts. The pastries are incredible fresh and delectable, while the eggs, hash, and burrito were perfectly cooked to order. We also, in both occasions, grabbed sausage rolls to go which are delicious warmed up or good fuel while on the slopes! There's a reason the line is out the door on any given weekend day. This place is that good. For just a small whole in the wall with license plates adoring the walls, Daylight Donuts carries a large selection of donuts and hot plates to satisfy any famished mountain man. The ordering process is painfully slow, and if you plan to eat in, I hope you're not in a rush. You're looking at over an hour wait easy if the line is at the door and you're ordering eggs, plus the seating is very limited. When we visited, they had express ordering for those ordering donuts or sausage rolls (the most adorable brown and serve sausages wrapped in dough you've ever seen! HIGHLY recommend). I ordered a glazed doughnut and a sausage roll. My husband ordered the raspberry twist and a sausage roll. We devoured our food in minutes. The other doughnut that caught our eye was the chocolate topped one. It seemed to be a very popular order from most people in front of us. The coffee is basic drop coffee, but they do have some cold coffee and gatorade in the fridge. I selected a blue Gatorade to hydrate before our day on the mountain. I'd love to share an amazing experience my family and I had today at Daylight Donuts in Breck. My 3 year old has been wanting donuts for days and we told him we would do a special trip to the donut shop today. Well, we've lived in summit for 15 years and have never been there so we didn't know they sell out of donuts.... We walked in and saw the "sold out sign" and needless to say, my son was devastated. Tyler surprised my son with a chocolate sprinkle donut and said he was saving the very last one for someone just like my son. Tyler probably made my son's year at this point. Not only did he save our day, but both him and Marissa were spectacular and so kind to us. As we were heading back to our house, my son said "that was so nice he saved that donuts just for me". I came in here specifically for the donuts, which did not disappoint! I walked in about 630am on a Friday morning and there was no one in line. I got my pick of everything, some cake donuts, some glazed donuts, filled, sprinkled, apple fritter, you name it! I guess that's the best part about being the early riser, you get to pick the loot! And trust me, I tried a bite of all of them. My personal favorites were easily the Apple fritter, The blueberry doughnut, which seems to be a crowd favorite on yelp, and the cream filled long John... Not bavarian cream, although that one was good too, but the fluffy white cream. I think the cake donuts were the stars. We have given this place three tries and now they are out as a establishment we will support. Treat people rudely- and the food is not that good! 1st visit ) they totally forgot our order from the kitchen and we waited over an hour. When we asked when we would get our order - he left and then came back and THREW some money at us, which thru the aggressive behavior we determined was a refund for the order. 2nd visit) why did we go back?, but we chalked it up to a bad day! This time they picked some locals out of the line called them up took their order at that time their were no donut or pastries left. My husband decided to order from the kitchen some eggs etc, again they called out locals and managed to get that order all screwed up. 3visit We were overrunned by a person at the door, my husband being polite stepped aside to let her go first. Turns out she somehow associated with the hostess and she proceeded to give her all the remanning donuts before 10 AM - laughing and giggling. The old fashioned was the perfect level of moist but not oily, the cake donuts have a great slight crisp on the outside and density on the inside. This definitely was a must on our list. We woke up early and headed down to this donut shop between 8-8:15. Recommend getting there early because the line is out the door, even though it moves super quickly. Definitely has a family owned feel to it and lots of tables to sit. People are continuously getting up, so your almost guaranteed a table. You do have to order before you sit down. We got 2 Tom McMuffins and a vanilla sprinkle donut. I'm so sad I didn't take any pictures, because the food was too good to even think of it! The sandwich came with 2 scrambled eggs flattened, then cheese is melted in the middle, as well as 2/3 pieces of bacon. The donut was fresh out of the oven and melted in our mouths! Even the plain black coffee was delicious and I could tell they brew it fresh every hour. The owner remember my name as we left the shop and thanked us for coming in! Great place. Great donuts and food. Cute place. However each and every single time I've ever been here the service is so rude that it's laughable. I've seen a line out the door and one employee yell "Jesus fucking Christ" to the families and kids as she made her way out the door . This morning the person taking orders is chugging pepto bismol while taking orders. We're local and I get the tourist scene can be tough but then again..it's the hand that feeds up here. I've never brought an out of town guest here who wasn't struck by the rudeness of the service staff. We ordered them because they hyped up on Tik Tok and Yelp, but when we received them, they were the equivalent of a home made pig in the blanket with a Jimmy Dean sausage inside.
