Ambiance and service was solid at Daylight Donuts. Food arrived rather quickly and the restaurant certainly has an interesting feel to it. My only complaint with this establishment would be the price of the food I ordered in comparison to the amount of food I received. My total was around 16$ for a relatively small amount of food. While, yes, I understand that prices in Breckenridge are going to be a little inflated; Daylight Donuts seems to be on the extreme end of the inflation spectrum. With this in mind, I'd still recommend this place if looking for a casual donut experience. Maybe avoid if looking for a brunch experience with some bang for buck value. read more

So glad we stopped in on our way out!! We were able to get a nice variety of donuts for our road trip and it lasted us 3 days! The doughnuts had a nice crust on the outside and were soft and cake like on the inside. I'm glad they lasted us that long! We got some classic glaze, blueberry, fritters, raspberry! The staff was friendly and it was all reasonably priced. Wish we had time to stop and eat there as well. read more

Don't let the name fool you, this place is not just donuts! The donuts do look amazing, but I usually resist! This place opens early-6 am and gets crowded pretty fast, must be a local favorite! Also, it is cash only just so you know. It's a fun atmosphere with all kinds of signs and pictures all over the walls. Their breakfast is so good! Lots of choices, I usually get the Two Eggs Your Way-served with hashbrowns (yum!), toast and choice of bacon, ham, sausage or chorizo. They also have quesadillas, huevos rancheros, waffles, pancakes, you name it! Everything is great and we have been coming here for many years. So come on early to beat the line! read more

The cake donut had a good consistency and was slightly crunchy on the edges and the chocolate was light but sweet. The blueberry oatmeal was steel cut and the blueberries were fresh. The Tom mcmuffun was good and I liked that the chorizo had a little spice to it. The service was good and fast. Prices were ok. I like the decor with the license plates and looking at them all. Cute place with a nice selection of donuts, rolls, and many options for breakfast. The huge raspberry bear claw was yummy, many thanks to the very nice man who took our order and warmed it up for us. He was so good he grabbed me a buttermilk donut while my slow brain was trying to find the words to tell him that's exactly what I wanted. He told me to come tomorrow for the apple fritter - apparently I look like a donut pig and yes, I am. I will be there 1st thing tomorrow for the apple fritter. The pancake was crispy on the edges, chewy and tender with just enough pull on the inside and very large. The cooked to order eggs were excellent. I like the self serve coffee, made just right. Things moved very quickly even though the place was crowded, we were lucky to get the last table inside. The only reason this is not a 5 * rating is due to the very dismissive attitude of the young lady also behind the counter. She was all smiles for the man in front of us but quite condescending to me, maybe I just look like a jerk or something. I hope I don't get her tomorrow when I come back to try the apple fritter and another breakfast. These donuts are the ones that my partner and his friends dream of when they are not in the area. You'd think donuts are like..well, donuts, but these donuts are like....DONUTS!!! Did that make sense? But really, their blueberry donuts are a household favorite here, along with just about any other donut they have. I can't quite explain why it's a mile and above all other donut joints, but I do know that their crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior is very hard to beat. The flavors are also top notch and freshness oozes from every steamy bite on a nice cold morning. I haven't tried their other items except for their coffee, which is scalding hot and not much to talk about, but almost everyone comes here for their donuts anyway. Highly disappointing to say the least. The only plus side of this experience was the very nice woman who helped fix a problem. The donuts had to be day old. They had a taste like food that had picked up the smells of the kitchen. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. The guy who took our order hates his job and maybe his life (it was that strong of a vibe) . His lack of personality is one thing but he was simply put out by having to do any part of his job. And my spouse believed him to be the owner! The chicken fried steak was not hot but tasted good. The breakfast burrito with beans and about 2 scoops of hash browns was warm enough. The top salsa tasted like a can of stewed tomatoes. The nice lady was accommodating in that she replaced the curdling cream set out with the coffee. She was very apologetic. I went here 3 times during our trip as it's one of the only places open for coffee and breakfast at 6AM. Between myself and the family, we tried the cinnamon roll, biscuits and gravy, bacon, pancakes, sausage, and of course the donuts. Donuts: 3/5 - Great flavor but had to warm them up at home with them being a little hard. The blueberry raised was amazing and the family enjoyed the chocolate varieties. Coffee: 2/5 - Just okay and the coffee mugs are so small that they're barely bigger than shot glasses. Extremely annoying. Pancakes and Sausage: 5/5 - Extremely large pancake and sausage links were delicious! Biscuits & Gravy with side of Bacon: 4/5 - Traditional Southern White Sausage gravy was very good and the side of bacon was large..enjoyed it! Donuts are a food group for me and Daylight Donuts are fantastic! I love cake donuts more than raised and they had both! I tried the vanilla cake donut, glazed holes and a frosting filled long john. Everything was so good that I ate as much as possible and of course my stomach paid the price! They do have diner style breakfasts with hash browns a and eggs that you should order if you need to get your bill price up to meet the $10 minimum for credit cards. My family and I decided to stop for a mid morning treat at Daylight Donuts which was suggested to us by one of the friendly gondola workers in Breckenridge. And a great suggestion it was. With many tasty options to choose from we deferred to the staff to help us make our final decision. Naturally, our donut of choice ended up being the Pinecone. The Pinecone resembles what's it's named after due to the scoring that is traditionally done prior to frying it. A glaze surrounds the outside and provides some moisture to the donut. I think they should change their name, or at least add 'and breakfast'. I would not have come here just for the donuts but when I was told that they serve breakfast I was up for a visit. Order breakfast off of the chalkboard menu and then find a table. They will give you a playing card and then a runner will bring out you're order. You'll have to refill your coffee and get your own glass of water and silverware. Water is a MUST for high elevation hydration even when bar hopping. The license plates and dollar bills on the walls remind me of a couple dive bars in the Keys. I had their version of an egg McMuffin. They call theirs the Tom Macmuffin. You pick the breakfast meat of your choice and they add the eggs and cheese on an english muffin. Hint: order a side of green chili and smother the sandwich with it and use a knife and fork for a Southwest flair version of Mickey D's egg mcmuffin. See my pic. Hash brown are the scattered kind fried on a flat top grill and are very good. I liked my muffin sandwich with the chili and would come back just for that alone. It was four stars! Other orders in my party was a quesidea which was average and a chorizo breakfast burrito which didn't agree with the person who ordered it. He got very ill. I love this place. My hips don't. Donuts are super fresh and they have the cake donuts down (I prefer a denser donut). The ambiance is old school ski town vibe which I love and love that they open so early bc I'm an earlier riser. What truly makes this place 5 stars is that the coffee is actually good - some donut shops the donuts are great and the coffee is an afterthought. Not here!!! This is my second time eating here. I have to say the donuts are amazing. They have an awesome selection and are open early enough to grab food before hitting the slopes! Their Belgian waffle was super tasty as well and super filling. Having a side of hash-browns finished off the meal! My sister got their biscuits and gravy and devoured the whole thing. The inside is a really casual and cozy style, with tables available on a first come first served basis (after you've ordered/paid at the counter). The donuts offered are all of the usual favorites... which I'm happy about.
