Excellent food. Good price. No real complaints here. I got a bulgogi bento box and it was just the right amount of food, and a good portion of meat (sometimes places skimp on the meat). The gyoza was good and the sides were also solid, though I'm not a kimchi fan. It's a counter order place so if you are sticking around to eat you need to go get your own cutlery from the table near the front counter. Seating area is rather small. Service was quick, the food arrived in maybe 10 minutes. I'd definitely come back here. Give it a try!

The bibim naengmyeon was really good!! Also the interior was cozy and gave off a homey vibe :) The service was quick and efficient . My cousin ordered a chicken bento box and the chicken had a strong sesame flavor which I've never had before, it's always good to try something new! I loved the banchan so much, it was prepped really well alongside their amazing kimchi. 10/10 recommend

Pork cutlet bento

My sister and I enjoyed our food at this Korean place. We got bentos (bulgogi and pork cutlet), japchae and seafood pancake. They felt like homemade! I guess that's why they took a while to serve our food, but that's okay. The delicious food made up for the longer waiting time. We would want to come here again to try other food!

Very good for the price. This is a very homey, no frills, cheap and simple korean restaurant with some korean japanese favorites, like rolled eggs and pork katsu. This place feels like a mom and pop style restaurant ran by just 2 people in the best way possible. Great for a satisfying lunch on a budget.

Dawon serves up the most amazing, comforting, authentic Korean food in the Allen area, and their bento options are my absolute favorites! When I previously worked in Allen, this was the place I'd go for lunch. They have these bento boxes that were filling, delicious, and worth the cost! Each bento usually lasts me for lunch and dinner, which isn't bad considering they were only $12 (prices probably went up now). I always get the bulgogi bento. It came with rice, bulgogi, banchan (cucumber, kimchi, cabbage, fish cakes), and fried egg, making these bentos super colorful!! My boyfriend asked to change some side dishes because he doesn't like zucchini & kimchi and the owner was super accommodating. I only dined in once after they reopened their dining area but it's a very cute space. The restaurant is a little dark, and they use disposable utensils. There are 6-8 tables but most people order the food to go anyways. The couple is very friendly and I just love all my experiences here!

This spot is a hidden gem. The food is incredible and the service is kind and professional. The restaurant is also very clean. Everything I've tried has been exceptional. Doesn't matter if I dine in or take out, the tdokbokee is a must. If you like Korean food, you will love Dawon.

Vegetarian Soon Tofu Jjigea and generous side dishes (also vegetarian)

I'll preface this review by saying that I'm giving them five stars based solely on just how amazing the food was. When coming to this restaurant, I expected something more full service dining but found something closer to a small cafe. They no longer served alcohol, the water was self service and I had to order at the counter before finding a table. I could drop my review a star for this until the food came. I let her know I was vegetarian and she made sure that the main dish and side dishes were all vegetarian friendly. At first glance, I knew I was going to write a five star review but when I dipped into the Soon Tofu Jjigea, I put my phone down and started wolfing it up. First a spoonful of soup and tofu. Then dipping my rice in the broth. Then munching a side dish. So if I'm being honest, I hope my review will get more people to come here because now that I've discovered this delicious place on par with many places I frequented when I lived in Asia, I want it to stay here for a long LONG time.

Delicious Korean spot in Allen! We both had the bento box. I got the bulgogi bento which was delicious! It came with 2 steamed eggs, kimchi, gyoza (Korean dumplings), rice, potatoes, and miso soup. All for only $13.95! The restaurant is family-owned and they are so friendly! Service was great and I really enjoyed dining in here. Give them your support here in Allen!

I was craving korean food and a friend suggested we go here to meet up. Upon entry, there wasn't anyone dining in on the sunday lunch time. Most people did take the food to go. There are a few tables to seat at. The lady at the front running the cashier was really nice and welcoming. It felt homey. The food was delicious. For the 3 people to dine in, we paid about $40. Along with our meal, we were served bonchon too which is my favorite part. The food is fresh and I will come back if I'm ever in the area and craving korean food!

I loved spicy pork bento at Dawon. The food was tasty. Miso soup and Sides are good too. The price of bento box isn't updated in the flyer. Actual price is higher.

This is a small family style korean restaurant, it only has 5 tables and mainly does delivery. This is now self service fully, so don't expect any service. we went there on a sat, there were already two tables filled. We were the third in the row. Ordered food n it took 45 mins to reach. Good quality is in general average. We probably won't come again. If you are in Plano, maht gaek is definitely better. No doubt about it. 1. Seafood pancake: 2/5 ( over fried. Hard n crispy, inside is too soft. I suspect not fully cooked. Very sticky) 2. Don katsu bento: 3/5 ( the pork was not marinate enough before frying. Tasteless) 3. Pork bento :3.5/5 ( well marinated. Best among all) 4. Kimchee jigae: 3/5 ( tofu is very nice n soft. Seafood is not fresh and limited. Soup base is just normal) Very family style. Food is overall 3.5 out of 5. Service is 2/5.

Bibimbap
Gloria C.

I've been to this restaurant when they were in Plano, but I haven't been back since. It's located in an almost deserted shopping center in Allen, but then again there are no other Korean places around thus the competition is slim to none. It is a small restaurant and there was only one table on a Sunday lunch afternoon, but then we did come shortly after they opened. They are kid friendly. The a/c must not have been working, because it was pretty warm in there. I got the bibimbop. My mom ordered the seafood soup combo - the first one on the menu. My husband ordered the spicy pork. The bibimbop wasn't anything special, but the other dishes were awesome! The appetizers were spot on with the provided variety and the tastes. My favorites were the potatos, the salad, the kimchi, and the cucumber. If only I could eat rice with the appetizers - that's all I ever really want! Overall, the food is legit and not too highly priced. I will come back, especially because it's so close to the house.

I'm so happy they built a Cho Dang in Plano!…read more This place is one of my favorite go-tos for Korean tofu soup & short ribs (galbi). I love ordering the combos so I get a little bit of everything that I want. The portions are decent if you're hungry & want to finish everything OR if you're not too hungry, eat half, and take the other half to-go for lunch the next day. The service is aligned with what you'd expect from a Korean place. Some of the older ladies working there are so sweet and helpful, especially if you tell them it's your first time, and some of them seem more intimidating and aggressive. Typically there isn't a wait for tables. Only times I've waited for a table are peak weekend dinner hours. The most I waited was maybe 15 minutes, as their service is quite fast for a sit down restaurant. This location has seats where you can store your personal belongings in them!

They have a variety of tofu soup options, along with other traditional Korean dishes. My table of four ordered a seafood pancake, various tofu soups, and kalbi. The seafood pancake was disappointing-- there was very little seafood and the center was mushy, not crispy. I got the intestine tofu soup in medium spicy, which had large chunks of intestine and generous helpings of tofu. The soup portions are so large, I didn't even finish my rice. As for the side dishes/banchan, nothing really stood out. As for the service, we were seated and helped really quickly, but pretty much left alone for the remainder of the meal. The prices here are decent, especially if you share a combo meat and soup with a friend.

Everyone has to scan a QR code, place their own order, and enter their phone number. For a large group, this became very confusing because when the food came out, there was no clear way to tell who ordered what. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out which dishes belonged to each person. If you're coming with a big party, I definitely recommend making a list of everyone's orders ahead of time so it's easier to organize when the food arrives. The food itself was extremely spicy. Most of the BBQ items -- seafood, chicken, beef, and pork -- seemed to have the same heavy cumin and spicy seasoning, so the flavors started tasting very similar. Personally, that wasn't for us. However, the soy sauce fried rice and the cold noodles were really good and stood out the most from the meal. The service was good overall, although communication was a little difficult at times because it was hard to understand the staff's accents. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept. I think this place may work much better for smaller groups, but for our large party it was stressful and the food flavors were too repetitive for our taste. Unfortunately, it's probably not somewhere we would return to. Also they added 25% tip mandatory without mentioning it anywhere ; It was an experience though

The food is consistently great, and when the staff is properly trained, the service is excellent too. The waitress with the toast necklace was honestly amazing and the highlight of our visit. Her communication was perfect. She asked exactly how we wanted the meat cooked, checked in on the pacing of the courses, and adjusted everything when we asked to slow things down. That level of attentiveness is what makes Korean BBQ enjoyable. At Ari, multiple staff members rotate between tables helping out, which is normally fine. Unfortunately, every time the more mature staff member came to our table, things started getting worse instead of better. After we had already explained that we preferred medium rare and wanted a slower pace, she came over, saw a little pink in the meat, turned the fire back on, and cooked it until it was overdone. She also started putting meat directly onto people's plates without asking first. Everyone at our table had different preferences. Some mainly wanted vegetables, our daughter preferred pieces with more fat on the sides instead of the more pink cuts, and some of us simply weren't ready for more food yet. Since we know everyone's preferences best, it would have made much more sense for us to serve the meat ourselves instead of having it automatically placed onto plates. What made it more awkward was that she kept placing food only into my tray and not anyone else's, which confused my wife and made the experience uncomfortable. She also started cooking additional courses before we had even finished the first two, despite us specifically asking to slow the pace down. The side dishes were also noticeably skimpy this visit compared to normal. Usually the portions are at least halfway filled, but this time some came out barely a quarter full. We kept asking for refills, especially for the daikon, and each refill only came with two or three small pieces. At that point it felt strange having to repeatedly ask for something that normally comes reasonably portioned. One suggestion for management: name tags would really help in a restaurant where the staff is actively cooking and interacting with customers. In a professional service environment, it would make communication much easier and more respectful if customers could address employees by name instead of describing them as "the toast necklace waitress" or "the mature lady." Still love Ari overall and will continue coming back. Hopefully this was just an off night and the communication/training issues get addressed.
