Excellent food. Good price. No real complaints here. I got a bulgogi bento box and it was just the right amount of food, and a good portion of meat (sometimes places skimp on the meat). The gyoza was good and the sides were also solid, though I'm not a kimchi fan. It's a counter order place so if you are sticking around to eat you need to go get your own cutlery from the table near the front counter. Seating area is rather small. Service was quick, the food arrived in maybe 10 minutes. I'd definitely come back here. Give it a try!

Bibim naengmyeon

The bibim naengmyeon was really good!! Also the interior was cozy and gave off a homey vibe :) The service was quick and efficient . My cousin ordered a chicken bento box and the chicken had a strong sesame flavor which I've never had before, it's always good to try something new! I loved the banchan so much, it was prepped really well alongside their amazing kimchi. 10/10 recommend

Pork cutlet bento

My sister and I enjoyed our food at this Korean place. We got bentos (bulgogi and pork cutlet), japchae and seafood pancake. They felt like homemade! I guess that's why they took a while to serve our food, but that's okay. The delicious food made up for the longer waiting time. We would want to come here again to try other food!

Very good for the price. This is a very homey, no frills, cheap and simple korean restaurant with some korean japanese favorites, like rolled eggs and pork katsu. This place feels like a mom and pop style restaurant ran by just 2 people in the best way possible. Great for a satisfying lunch on a budget.

Dawon serves up the most amazing, comforting, authentic Korean food in the Allen area, and their bento options are my absolute favorites! When I previously worked in Allen, this was the place I'd go for lunch. They have these bento boxes that were filling, delicious, and worth the cost! Each bento usually lasts me for lunch and dinner, which isn't bad considering they were only $12 (prices probably went up now). I always get the bulgogi bento. It came with rice, bulgogi, banchan (cucumber, kimchi, cabbage, fish cakes), and fried egg, making these bentos super colorful!! My boyfriend asked to change some side dishes because he doesn't like zucchini & kimchi and the owner was super accommodating. I only dined in once after they reopened their dining area but it's a very cute space. The restaurant is a little dark, and they use disposable utensils. There are 6-8 tables but most people order the food to go anyways. The couple is very friendly and I just love all my experiences here!

This spot is a hidden gem. The food is incredible and the service is kind and professional. The restaurant is also very clean. Everything I've tried has been exceptional. Doesn't matter if I dine in or take out, the tdokbokee is a must. If you like Korean food, you will love Dawon.

Vegetarian Soon Tofu Jjigea and generous side dishes (also vegetarian)

I'll preface this review by saying that I'm giving them five stars based solely on just how amazing the food was. When coming to this restaurant, I expected something more full service dining but found something closer to a small cafe. They no longer served alcohol, the water was self service and I had to order at the counter before finding a table. I could drop my review a star for this until the food came. I let her know I was vegetarian and she made sure that the main dish and side dishes were all vegetarian friendly. At first glance, I knew I was going to write a five star review but when I dipped into the Soon Tofu Jjigea, I put my phone down and started wolfing it up. First a spoonful of soup and tofu. Then dipping my rice in the broth. Then munching a side dish. So if I'm being honest, I hope my review will get more people to come here because now that I've discovered this delicious place on par with many places I frequented when I lived in Asia, I want it to stay here for a long LONG time.

Delicious Korean spot in Allen! We both had the bento box. I got the bulgogi bento which was delicious! It came with 2 steamed eggs, kimchi, gyoza (Korean dumplings), rice, potatoes, and miso soup. All for only $13.95! The restaurant is family-owned and they are so friendly! Service was great and I really enjoyed dining in here. Give them your support here in Allen!

I was craving korean food and a friend suggested we go here to meet up. Upon entry, there wasn't anyone dining in on the sunday lunch time. Most people did take the food to go. There are a few tables to seat at. The lady at the front running the cashier was really nice and welcoming. It felt homey. The food was delicious. For the 3 people to dine in, we paid about $40. Along with our meal, we were served bonchon too which is my favorite part. The food is fresh and I will come back if I'm ever in the area and craving korean food!

I loved spicy pork bento at Dawon. The food was tasty. Miso soup and Sides are good too. The price of bento box isn't updated in the flyer. Actual price is higher.

This is a small family style korean restaurant, it only has 5 tables and mainly does delivery. This is now self service fully, so don't expect any service. we went there on a sat, there were already two tables filled. We were the third in the row. Ordered food n it took 45 mins to reach. Good quality is in general average. We probably won't come again. If you are in Plano, maht gaek is definitely better. No doubt about it. 1. Seafood pancake: 2/5 ( over fried. Hard n crispy, inside is too soft. I suspect not fully cooked. Very sticky) 2. Don katsu bento: 3/5 ( the pork was not marinate enough before frying. Tasteless) 3. Pork bento :3.5/5 ( well marinated. Best among all) 4. Kimchee jigae: 3/5 ( tofu is very nice n soft. Seafood is not fresh and limited. Soup base is just normal) Very family style. Food is overall 3.5 out of 5. Service is 2/5.

Bibimbap
Gloria C.

I've been to this restaurant when they were in Plano, but I haven't been back since. It's located in an almost deserted shopping center in Allen, but then again there are no other Korean places around thus the competition is slim to none. It is a small restaurant and there was only one table on a Sunday lunch afternoon, but then we did come shortly after they opened. They are kid friendly. The a/c must not have been working, because it was pretty warm in there. I got the bibimbop. My mom ordered the seafood soup combo - the first one on the menu. My husband ordered the spicy pork. The bibimbop wasn't anything special, but the other dishes were awesome! The appetizers were spot on with the provided variety and the tastes. My favorites were the potatos, the salad, the kimchi, and the cucumber. If only I could eat rice with the appetizers - that's all I ever really want! Overall, the food is legit and not too highly priced. I will come back, especially because it's so close to the house.

TLDR. Made it to one of the most highly rated BBQ places in DFW and beyond…read more Father's Day, they opened at 11a, I arrived 9:40a & stayed in my car til another fellow arrived at 9:50 & went ahead up to wait at the door. I joined him. They are organized. One entry door is for Dine In, the other door for Take Out. The line def grew, for Dine In the line was already around the corner of the bldg by the time they opened - but a sign said they have seating for about 290, so a lot of ppl can be in there. for Take Out, you walk in & walk straight to the back. There are two cashiers there ready to take orders. After you place your order, you step back and hang out in that general area. You have an order number on your receipt, a staff member will come out of the rear kitchen & call your number when it's ready. The food. I opted to order a variety/sampler type order: 1/2 pound each of prime brisket sliced, pulled pork, jalapeño & cheese sausage, and pork ribs. Also ord'd two Texas Twinkies. Sides ordered were: potato casserole, fried okra, creamed corn, and broccoli salad. Then for dessert, a pint each of peach cobbler and banana pudding. I was first in line for Take Out, I had the order, grabbed bread, & was in the car at 11:08. Nice & efficient. We got set up for the meal where I went, and had a sample of all mentioned. I tried each meat by itself, and then later each one with sauce. The brisket and pork rib meat were smoky, flavorful, moist, and tender. Solid. But the stars of the meat were the jlpño-cheddar sausage & pulled pork. The sausage was cheesy with some kick (duh), but it also was physically more filling & consistency-wise thicker & heartier than any I can recall. The pulled pork had a coating or addition of something in or on it (a little bit of brown sugar, perhaps, that caramelized during cooking, etc?). Whatever it is, it works very well. First two meats mentioned were solid, the latter two were stellar. And then when eaten with the sauce added, they were all fantastic. Elite tier bbq meat. the Tx Twinkies have been around awhile, I've known of them, but had never eaten one til today. (I eat veg 99.9% of the time, & just hop off the wagon for one meal every so often on a special occasion, like today). the Twinkie was decent, I was expecting a different blend of all the flavors together - but that had to do with my forecast of the taste, not Hutchins' assembly or cooking of the product. Their execution was on point - all ingred in their proper place and cooked to a nice crisp. Sides: creamed corn is Dynamite! Broccoli salad very very flavorful! Potato casserole in the A range. The flavor of fried okra was A range, but the breading was inconsistent on 5-10% of the (very large) serving. Liked it for sure, just noted on some minor issues of breading staying on the okra. Desserts. The peach cobbler texture-wise has more of (but not exclusively) a super moist cake feel to it - BUT do not let this dissuade you, the taste is straight-up deliciousness! No, it's not a traditional cobbler consistency, but don't overthink it - try it, you'll be very delighted you did. The banana pudding was standard fare as banana pudding goes. It was on par as any - not superior to any other, but also not less than anyone else's either. Out the door, incl tax, $125. Fed four adults to completely satisfied. Just over $31 per person. Overall, 5 stars, no doubt whatsoever! Wonderful meats, superb sauce which amplifies, flavor of all sides in A or A+ range, friendly staff & efficient operation. Strong recommend.

Bbq was very good, seasoned well and the bbq sauce really was a standout. I don't usually do a lot of sauce. Spicy was delish.

Still, if we had not been getting carryout, it seemed like a pleasant place to sit down and eat, too. This is order at the counter service, and they were happy to explain things to this non-native. Everything was carefully packed to maintain temperature and avoid spills. I enjoyed the brisket with spicy sauce, though I have since heard some people really prefer the moist type, I think dry was right for me. I got a side of coleslaw so I could get my veggies in; it had a creamy yet not too heavy dressing. The stuffed potato was tasty, especially with all the recommended toppings, but it was the size of a small football! I had to put half of it in the fridge.

My favorite part of the whole experience was the sausage (how do you mess that up?) and the potato salad. I think I'm just finding that it's better to smoke your own meats at home. Half the price and 100x better. Service also wasn't the best. Lady at the register was dead inside. I could tell this was the last place she wanted to be today. Side note: waving your hand in the air to call my attention when I am not looking your direction is no way of letting a line of people know you are ready to take their order. "Next guest, please!" goes a long way. Possibly why she was so irritated when I finally got to the counter.
