We arrived just as they opened. There was no one to greet us for the first few minutes. Finally, someone came out from the back to let us know that they were busy, which sounded strange since they had just opened, but when they explained about the air show it made sense. The music is loud but that's expected. It is a bar after all...that serves barbecue. We ordered at the bar and sat down. BWE and I shared the Chuckwagon Classic Plate, and we added 1/3 lb of brisket. My son had the same Classic Plate. We got the beans and fries as our sides. When our food was brought to us, the server didn't give us utensils. We had to ask her for them. The portions seemed small. The brisket was not hot. It was room temperature. The fries and beans were just okay. We were underwhelmed. This is Texas. Our expectations were high but we were disappointed. It could be that the order from the air show overwhelmed them and left them little strength to give attention to our order so I'll give them a little grace and give them two stars instead of one. There's also a small complimentary condiment and BBQ sauce bar- which included onions, pickles, jalapeños, regular and spicy BBQ sauce. Pickles were nice and appeared home made. I dipped my meats in combos of both sauces, I enjoyed them both. We all ordered the two meat combos $18 with your choice of two sides and served with Texas toast. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork. Both were excellent! The brisket had a nice tiny fatty edge and was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The pulled pork was deelish. Good portion size too. I enjoyed the beans, but the coleslaw not so much. The slaw was bland and had no flavor. Others at my table ordered the tater tots, which were highly seasoned and had a nice crunch. Because the meat is either old or dry or both. Mine was very dry. The beans were drenched in sugar. The Mac and Cheese lacked (cheese) taste. We love good BBQ. This is not good BBQ. Our number/name was called in a reasonable time. Upon receipt of the food it left a little to be desired for presentation. The meats were not very warm however they were warm. The food tasted good. When I went to get sweet tea or peach tea both were out. I went up to the counter informed the people that were both still on the personal cell phones. I went and sat down. The personnel did respond immediately to both teas being out and filled them. The ambience in the restaurant was very good. I did notice at the table next to me. There was a couple talking about several of the items I just mentioned. I just expected a little bit better from H-E-B. But this is twice now that I have been sort of disappointed with HEB's true Texas barbecue. Hope that H-E-B reads this and tries to do something about it. If the staff would pay a little bit more attention to detail of the restaurant, and the needs of the patrons, I think this would help out immensely.

While we were indecisive on whether to utilize your services, then agreeing, then canceling and then confirming a day and a half prior to the event, YOU came through! While most caterers would have not accepted the job, you did, against your better judgment. While the Brisket was not the quality that you are accustomed to serving, I understand time constraints prevented your usual 14 hour minimum cook time. I suggest in the future, that you do not offer that item if time does not allow. I know you were trying to give the customer what they want, but "No good deed goes unpunished!" When you brought the food it was more than what I was expecting for the number we provided. The chicken was INCREDIBLE, green beans and mac & cheese were quite tasty too. I know we only purchased food, and no set was required. Surely, you were not expected to provide sterno chafing stands and sternos for the very modest price! You did however supply decorative plates, utensils, cups, napkins, and all the condiments for our meal! This revealed your eye for details and mission to please!
