I found out on very short notice that Biff Buzby's will close up shop for good once 2025 ends on Facebook. Reason why is unknown but there's a long wait inside. They've won Best Burger for 3 years in a row but I've never made it out here once and they have been in business for over 25 years. I would've gotten a burger but I just had one this past Friday at Everybody Loves Raymond's at their east side location which was also going to close up soon. I ordered chicken fried steak with fries,onion rings and a glass of Kool Aid and was told there's a 30 minute wait. There's plenty of room to sit in the back and I was lucky enough to find a table. My order arrived. The fries had some batter and were good. The onion rings were good too and the batter didn't fall off. The chicken fried steak was good too and wasn't too big or small and the batter didn't fall out as I had cut into it. And the service was friendly too. Full disclosure... the only reason I chose this restaurant was the name. When I was a teenager, my nickname was Bif. I was meeting 2 of my childhood best friends for lunch in San Antonio and this place popped up. It slayed. Totally unassuming corner restaurant in a strip center. I walked in and 2 folks were looking at the menu and said I could jump ahead. So I chatted up the cashier and found out what her favorites were. She said the Brunch Burger (topped with a fried egg) was the first thing she had when she started two years ago and it was still her favorite... but the entire menu was good. I saw fried pickles... so I ordered those for the table. They were the slices not spears which is always preferable. Think enough to be crispy & they gave us 2 ramekins of Ranch. She pointed out the $10 combo - 1/4 lb w/ drink & fries. $11 for the 1/2lb. So.. I went with that and she recommended the fresh onion rings... The food is delicious, y'all. The burger was perfectly cooked... and had a nice char on the edges. The onion rings were spot on and I got to sample my friends fries as well... which were seasoned well and the perfect consistency. I'm looking forward to making my way back down to San Antonio to try their Chicken Fries Steak. The staff was great and we chatted a little bit. This place is good but not enough to justify their prices. Everything is a side purchase. This is a way to raise the prices so be aware that if you order a hamburger it doesn't come with anything BUT the burger. I feel that's a rip off considering this isn't upscale food it's American food that's not that different from any other burger place. Would I eat here again? This places burgers and sides are good. However, the manager, Tana, is the rudest employee I've ever met. I got chicken tenders and they were super rubbery and dry. We went to get a refund because they were uneatable, and the manger Tana said "they don't do refunds" there is NO sign that says that. I don't buy from places that don't accept refunds so I wouldn't have gotten them if I knew that ahead of time. She argued with us, was super passive aggressive, she said "it's not too tough, I could bite through that chicken tender" just arguing with us about what the issue was instead of making it right. After much arguing she grabbed her wallet passive aggressively and handed us $3 out of her wallet to shut us up. By far the WORST service I've ever had. So unprofessional. The food (besides the tenders) was good, I was planning on coming back but as long as Tana is there I will not be giving this company money. The owners of this restaurant should be embarrassed to have her represent their company, it's a really bad look. It was a long wait because they cook to order & it's worth the wait. Now the service is what's in question. The workers are nice to the usual/regular customers, however being a newbie, it left me wondering if I'd return. Kind of hidden away in an office strip center and does not look like a restaurant from the outside. Once inside you see a very large seating area with a counter where you place your order. I expected more of a crowd for Friday at noon. The cashier told me they get a crowd Friday night as they host a car show in the parking lot. Lots of large model planes hanging from the ceiling. A lot of airplane art on the walls. I ordered the Old Fashioned Burger with cheddar cheese and an upgrade to sweet potato fries. I used my coupon from San Antonio restaurants Gold App to get $5 off the burger. The burger was hot and juicy and the use of leaf lettuce instead of tired old iceberg was nice. Still not sure about the big sourdough bun, but it held up to the burger and condiments. Sweet potato fries are so crispy. They are almost like the fries at Bill Millers, more like planks. Beans are cooked with bacon. I don't like beans, but the "juice" surround them was very flavorful. Someone's review said the food was very greasy. I have to differ. A burger will have a little grease because a good burger CONTAINS FAT. If you opt for fat free burgers maybe you should eat at an Earth Burger. read more

A few months ago, I bought a Groupon for @biffbuzbys. We went for dinner today since it expires this week. It's another Daddy-Daughter dinner time. The traffic moved along to Live Oak so it didn't feel far. Tana was at the counter and I told her it was our first time there. I was a little disappointed when she told me they're out of onion rings which are supposed to be very good. I ordered the Buzby Dog Basket with tater tots for Dad. I had the Fish Basket with sweet potato fries. I know we didn't get burgers, maybe next time. For the dog, Dad still prefers the American Hotdog at Sonic but he ate it all. The fish was very good and lots of tartar sauce. Dad had Pink Lemonade and I had the Pacifico Clara. We shared the Cobbler with ice cream. It took a couple of bites before I bit into some peach. If it has the establishment name in it, it has to be a flagship item. The burger patties were seasoned well and juicy. The additional items (lettuce, tomato, pickles) all tasted fresh. My only knock would be the bun. It seems that the bun didn't hold up well with all the ingredients of the burger. Mushroom and Swiss burger was great. Just the right amount of Swiss cheese and chunky mushrooms. The complimentary beans were legit. My husband and I stopped by on 3/7/2025 for a good juicy burger. When the burger arrived the meat patty was smaller than normal. I commented on it and my husband agreed. I but into the burger and almost cooked on the bite. The patty was dry, overcooked and no seasoning. My husband's was the same. We removed our patties and they brought us 2 others. They weren't much better, small, overcooked, bland and not even a pinch of salt. The patties were either pressed on the grill during cooking or cooked until medium then cooked some more. So, admittedly it's been a few months since I've been here so I don't know if they changed owners, managers or what, but the usually friendly service, accurate orders and good food apparently flew out the window today I bought lunch for my staff so there were 7 of us. We tried to order online but despite trying 4 times, it just would not work so we had to call it in (fortunately they answered the phone which as you'll read later appears to be an anomaly). When I picked up the order the staff wasn't pleasant like usual - figured it was just a bad day - no big deal. When I asked for ketchup and mustard someone said they put mustard, catsup and all the dressings/sauces in the bag. Good deal. Get back to the office. My 'Q burger' (burger, bacon, grilled onions cheddar cheese and bbq sauce (also asked for jalapeños and American cheese instead of cheddar) end up being a burger with cheddar cheese and a tomato and slice of lettuce - clearly not a 'Q Burger'. The Battered Buffalo Chicken salad that was ordered ended up as a battered chicken breast (no Buffalo sauce or blue cheese) When I called the number (7 times over the next hour - clicking on their number in their web page) I immediately got a message saying their voicemail had not been set up - that was it. Also, the bag with condiments had mustard and 6 packs of ketchup for 2 burgers and 3 orders of fries. You don't get much better than this. I went in with a Groupon, but a mistake on Groupon's end made it unusable. However, decided to give it a try anyway, and so glad I did. From food to customer service, the new ownership is invested in your experience. I'd dined on a Friday, and the staff came by our table to ask if we'd be staying for the car show. Apparently, Friday is car show day outside of the restaurant. I love classic cars! As to the food, it's got that elevated dinner vibe that hits all the right notes. Kudos for the beer battered mushroom appetizer. Great seasoning and not overt greasy. The chicken fried steak was everything you expect in Texas. The burger and friends with delicious and plentiful. And the cobbler takes you back to childhood delight. I can't celebrate the staff and owners enough.
