    All day menu.

This quiet, but still busy local joint. Its decor reminds me of a small town diner. The menu was huge and it's served all day. My friend had the croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage (I asked the gentleman taking our order). The potatoes were seasoned with peppers and onions. And the biscuit was amazing. 9.9 out of 10.

Today, we took a break for lunch at the Happy Day Cafe. My sister ordered the Cobb salad, which was massive! I opted for the patty melt along with some fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing, but the patty melt was just okay. The prices are a bit high for those of us on a tight budget, but I'd definitely come back if someone else is picking up the bill!

First time at restaurant. We went Tuesday about 2:00pm (they close at 3:00pm). They are opened for breakfast and lunch, entire menu is served all the time. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman as we entered. We viewed the menu, though I knew what I wanted before hand as I had checked out the website. I had the Fried green tomato sandwich and my Mom had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. We ordered onion rings to share and a peach lemonade and a blueberry lemonade. We chatted with the cashier as we waited for our food. When it arrived we cut the sandwiches in half so we could share. Took my first bite of the FGT sandwich and it was amazing! The bacon was crispy and the spinach a nice fresh touch. The BBQ sandwich was also very good. My Mom kept saying she was surprised that there weren't more people here. We were the only ones there (there had been a couple there when we entered and three people came as we were leaving). The drinks were lovely and I thought the breading on the onion rings was a bit heavy. The place was quaint and cute. Would definitely go again! Bonus they are basically a straight shot to IKEA so fun shopping after a very delicious meal.

My friend and I met for lunch. You can get breakfast all day so we did and because I love fried mushrooms I ordered some of those too. I got the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with breakfast potatoes. The egg and sausage were good. I ended up deconstructing my biscuit sandwich and think I would have preferred the biscuit on its own with butter and jelly. The breakfast potatoes were tasty. I really loved the fried mushrooms and their gravy is good.

On a scale from 1-10 overall I'd give it a 9. Searing is limited, so get a table before you order! Food was good, fresh & hot. Coffee was good. Flavored creamers a plus!

Nice quaint place. A little hidden but worth the visit. They have ample seating , soothing music being played at a decent level where you can converse in normal tones. The food is better than expected. Takara's like home. Perfectly cooked fried egg and generous portions. Order at the register before sitting. Not many options for coffee but the regular coffee was good.

Amazing biscuits and portion sizes! A gem of a location, perfect for a pitstop on our way to San Antonio. Friendly staff, amazingly tasty breakfast potatoes (seriously, they're great!), definitely coming back here in the future. I love the giant chalkboard of all day menu items. Great value for money

Happy Day is another spot I would give 3.5 stars, but am rounding up since that isn't an option. This cafe is in an unassuming shopping center by the I35/1604 interchange. It's a small spot with minimal clutter on the walls and a streamlined menu. I will say that the floor is very sticky, probably from using too much soap in their floor cleaner. They need to mop with just hot water for a bit to get that soap off the floor, as it is very off-putting when your shoes stick as you walk. The menu is listed on a chalkboard and you order at the counter and then find a table. My mom and I went on a Saturday morning at about 9am, and they weren't very busy. Just us and a couple other tables in the joint. We ordered the biscuit benedict (eggs benedict but with biscuit instead of english muffin) and the cranberry orange french toast, both with breakfast potatoes, and unsweet tea. The food came out fairly quickly, but we noticed that the french toast looked a little overdone. It still tasted ok, but they really shouldn't have served it like that, and should have redone it. They do have sugar-free syrup which was great for my diabetic momma. The syrup tasted ok, but had a very odd, gooey texture, almost like glue. It made it hard to eat without it getting on everything! The eggs on the benedict were perfectly cooked, which is no mean feat! The sauce was good as well, but was quite salty. The biscuit was well baked, and I would like to try one without toppings to get a better idea of how it tastes on its own. The potatoes were one of the hightlights, as they were golden brown and crisp, with onions and peppers scattered throughout for additional flavor and texture. I would go again, but I can't see it becoming a favorite as the menu was quite limited and, again, the french toast was overdone. However I would say this is a place that is worth a try.

The food was awesome! Like my mom's home cooking, it filled me up and I still wished I had more!! The sweet couple that was running that place provided excellent service! The place was also clean, and super cute !!

First time visiting & tried the Scrambled Egg Roll - SUPER GOOD & Flavorful!! Potato Hash was cooked to perfection

Today, it was brunch with my big brother at The Brunch Spot in Converse, TX (suburb of San Antonio), and it absolutely lived up to its name. I ordered the avocado toast and my brother ordered the French toast served with eggs and bacon. Their slogan is "we're serving up sunshine". Love that! Who don't need a little sunshine? Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The avocado toast was simple...creamy avocado spread generously over hearty toast, seasoned perfectly and topped with a fresh egg whites that tied it all together. It was filling without being too heavy and tasted even better than it looked. The French toast was the real delight. The bread was thick, soft on the inside, and lightly crisp on the outside, with just the right amount of sweetness. Paired with well cooked eggs and crispy, savory bacon, it struck that perfect balance between sweet and savory that makes a brunch memorable. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Na, short for Ajanay, was friendly and attentive. The Brunch Spot is definitely a great choice if you're looking for a satisfying, comfort style brunch.

But once we sat down, it made sense. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the difference. There was only one server handling the entire floor, and when a rush hit all at once, it definitely got busy fast. But here's the thing... she handled it with grace. Even when you could tell she was juggling a lot, she stayed attentive, kind, and kept checking in on us. That kind of effort deserves recognition. Now let's talk about the real star of the show... The Texas French Toast. Oh. My. Goodness. Thick, golden, perfectly cooked slices topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh berries that tasted like they were picked that morning. It wasn't just good, it was indulgent in the best way. Sweet without being overwhelming. Rich but balanced. I couldn't even finish it (which says a lot), and happily boxed the rest up. The only regret? I ate all the berries first. Rookie mistake. My husband ordered one of the hash plates and said it was solid comfort food... hearty, flavorful, and filling. He couldn't finish his either, so I'm definitely sneaking a few bites later. Overall, we left impressed. The food feels intentional. The flavors feel thoughtful. It's the kind of local spot you want to root for. And the fact that they serve pork lumpia for lunch? Say less. We'll be back for that. If you're looking for a cozy, made-from-scratch brunch spot in Universal City, this one is worth the wait. Good food takes time, and this place proves it. ***This review is based on my taste buds. Inside, the space is open, comfortable, and very clean. The interior seating is well maintained, and staff were consistently attentive to keeping the dining area tidy throughout the visit. The setup feels relaxed and inviting, and it is also nice to see that outdoor seating is available if you prefer fresh air. The food was excellent. I ordered the veggie omelette with added avocado and turkey, which was savory and well balanced. The hash browns were well seasoned with a good pepper profile, and the white chocolate latte stood out in particular. It did not have the artificial syrup aftertaste that is common at many places, which made it especially enjoyable. Service is what truly made the visit stand out.
