AH. WANTED TO LOVE IT, DIDN'T END UP EVEN LIKING IT. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE THOUGH! Service: 4/5 It looked like a one man show- I can appreciate that. The man who I assume could be the owner, was a server, cashier, and the cleaning crew. Haha. He looked a bit serious but he was very kind. Food: 2/5 I hate to admit it, but just like some of the lower reviews said- the food was so bland. I mean, not a taste of seasoning. I ordered a chicken fried biscuit with gravy, and it came with potatoes. My sister ordered a bacon croissant. I'll start off with mine. They did give me a rather large hunk of chicken; the batter slid right off and the chicken itself was tasteless, I do mean absolutely tasteless :( The biscuit was so dry, and crumbly. Possibly day old? Not sure. I slapped some of their homemade jam (Now that jam was wonderful! ) however they don't give too much of anything (butter, gravy, jam) so I do feel the sandwich would be better if it was maybe made smaller? I'm not sure. It was just a huge biscuit with nothing to slather it with. The gravy portion is really not fair, lol. Since the biscuit was super dry and again SUPER bland, I do feel they should make the gravy a bigger portion. My sister said her bacon croissant "was nothing special. I could've made it at home." I also want to throw out there that their drinks also need some help. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, my sister did a "freshly brewed tea" ah. The tea was bitter as heck and the lemonade tasted like it was pure strawberry syrup. :( Price: 2/5 I spent $30.00 on two plates, that Indeed we could've just made at home for 1/3 of the price. I know food is at an all time high right now, but this meal was not worth my hard earned money. We couldn't find one thing we actually enjoyed about it. Overall: 1/5. I hate to be honest because I really want to see small shops thrive; whenever I go to a restaurant I ask myself "Would you come back?" And the answer for Happy Cafe is absolutely not. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, everything was just not for us. The restaurant itself needs some deep cleaning, an upgraded menu, and maybe some new tables (ours were peeling and super sticky) however, if I'm being honest I can get past that- but I simply will not return due to the food. As some of the others said, I don't know how this place is so highly rated (love that for them) but it just wasn't for me and my family, maybe it will be for yours.
Today, we took a break for lunch at the Happy Day Cafe. My sister ordered the Cobb salad, which was massive! I opted for the patty melt along with some fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing, but the patty melt was just okay. The prices are a bit high for those of us on a tight budget, but I'd definitely come back if someone else is picking up the bill!

My friend and I met for lunch. You can get breakfast all day so we did and because I love fried mushrooms I ordered some of those too. I got the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with breakfast potatoes. The egg and sausage were good. I ended up deconstructing my biscuit sandwich and think I would have preferred the biscuit on its own with butter and jelly. The breakfast potatoes were tasty. I really loved the fried mushrooms and their gravy is good.
First time at restaurant. We went Tuesday about 2:00pm (they close at 3:00pm). They are opened for breakfast and lunch, entire menu is served all the time. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman as we entered. We viewed the menu, though I knew what I wanted before hand as I had checked out the website. I had the Fried green tomato sandwich and my Mom had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. We ordered onion rings to share and a peach lemonade and a blueberry lemonade. We chatted with the cashier as we waited for our food. When it arrived we cut the sandwiches in half so we could share. Took my first bite of the FGT sandwich and it was amazing! The bacon was crispy and the spinach a nice fresh touch. The BBQ sandwich was also very good. My Mom kept saying she was surprised that there weren't more people here. We were the only ones there (there had been a couple there when we entered and three people came as we were leaving). The drinks were lovely and I thought the breading on the onion rings was a bit heavy. The place was quaint and cute. Would definitely go again! Bonus they are basically a straight shot to IKEA so fun shopping after a very delicious meal.
Nice quaint place. A little hidden but worth the visit. They have ample seating , soothing music being played at a decent level where you can converse in normal tones. The food is better than expected. Takara's like home. Perfectly cooked fried egg and generous portions. Order at the register before sitting. Not many options for coffee but the regular coffee was good.
Update : went back for lunch & had the pulled pork sandwich it was amazing. I liked it better than I like my breakfast biscuit.
Happy Day is another spot I would give 3.5 stars, but am rounding up since that isn't an option. This cafe is in an unassuming shopping center by the I35/1604 interchange. It's a small spot with minimal clutter on the walls and a streamlined menu. I will say that the floor is very sticky, probably from using too much soap in their floor cleaner. They need to mop with just hot water for a bit to get that soap off the floor, as it is very off-putting when your shoes stick as you walk. The menu is listed on a chalkboard and you order at the counter and then find a table. My mom and I went on a Saturday morning at about 9am, and they weren't very busy. Just us and a couple other tables in the joint. We ordered the biscuit benedict (eggs benedict but with biscuit instead of english muffin) and the cranberry orange french toast, both with breakfast potatoes, and unsweet tea. The food came out fairly quickly, but we noticed that the french toast looked a little overdone. It still tasted ok, but they really shouldn't have served it like that, and should have redone it. They do have sugar-free syrup which was great for my diabetic momma. The syrup tasted ok, but had a very odd, gooey texture, almost like glue. It made it hard to eat without it getting on everything! The eggs on the benedict were perfectly cooked, which is no mean feat! The sauce was good as well, but was quite salty. The biscuit was well baked, and I would like to try one without toppings to get a better idea of how it tastes on its own. The potatoes were one of the hightlights, as they were golden brown and crisp, with onions and peppers scattered throughout for additional flavor and texture. I would go again, but I can't see it becoming a favorite as the menu was quite limited and, again, the french toast was overdone. However I would say this is a place that is worth a try.
On a scale from 1-10 overall I'd give it a 9. Searing is limited, so get a table before you order! Food was good, fresh & hot. Coffee was good. Flavored creamers a plus!
Amazing biscuits and portion sizes! A gem of a location, perfect for a pitstop on our way to San Antonio. Friendly staff, amazingly tasty breakfast potatoes (seriously, they're great!), definitely coming back here in the future. I love the giant chalkboard of all day menu items. Great value for money
First time visiting and ventured out of my normal and ordered Scrambled Egg Roll Cooked to perfection and was very flavorful Potato Hash was evenly cooked and delicious
5 out 5 for me and that's rare!! I just dropped in omw to get a haircut. The young lady behind the counter greeted me as soon as I walked in! There were two other folks eating in the window seats by the door. They have a chalk board menu or a paper one if you're visually impaired or have 4 eyes like me!! I ordered the french toast with the whipped peanut butter and jam (didn't need or use either) but the french toast was bomb! The bacon was perfect and the breakfast potatoes!!! It was all just perfection, those potatoes were seasoned just right and crispy! Kudos to you'll!! Might be my spot before a haircut every time!
It's not bad. It's typical diner fare, located in a strip center. I'll go back, but I will try something different. Both dishes were overwhelmingly salty, and the salt overpowered the flavors of each entrée. The biscuit served with the eggs bene was dry, and the ham on my eggs benedict tasted like cheap lunch meat, which was really underwhelming for a dish like this. While the eggs themselves were cooked well, I couldn't help but wonder, where was the Hollandaise sauce? The key part of the dish was missing. The pulled pork biscuit was tasty, but again - it was overly salty. read more

Big portions! And good prices! Biscuits are a must. Super fresh & truly perfect. The Biscuit with Ham (I added bacon too) was very filling. I could decide between Ham and Bacon, so so got both. I personally would get just the Biscuit with Bacon next time, because I liked the Bacon more than the Ham, although no complaints! Biggie Biscuits with Sausage Gravy, one word HUGE, or should I say Biggie? Either way you get a lot. Delicious as well. French Toast with Orange Cranberry Cream, I would 100% get this again. Or try to remake this somehow at home, it was my favorite meal I tried from here! All meals we got were served with Potatoes, and they were good! Seasoned well, and with a variety of soft and crispy pieces. I believe this is a family business, the restaurant kinda gives a small hometown feel. Service was good, you go to the counter and order, seat yourself, and are served at your table. If you need a refill of water, you might have to go up and ask for it, or get it yourself. I'm not sure of the process since it was my first time there. Overall, I personally would go back. The French toast with Orange Cranberry Cream, and an order of Biscuits, will be my next meal from here! read more

This quiet, but still busy local joint. Its decor reminds me of a small town diner. The menu was huge and it's served all day. My friend had the croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage (I asked the gentleman taking our order). The potatoes were seasoned with peppers and onions. And the biscuit was amazing. 9.9 out of 10. read more

I discovered this quaint little place through one of my groups. It came highly recommended for breakfast, but, unfortunately, I didn't get to savor their breakfast. I arrived about 15 minutes before closing, so instead I opted for some of their baked goodies. I got some of their cupcakes and a German chocolate cookie, which were good. The German chocolate cookie was a chocolate cookie with a sort of coconut cocoa topping. It's was certainly different, a bit too sweet for me, but I had just tasted one of the cupcakes. The cupcake frosting was tasty. The place itself has plenty of seating and has a very cozy feel. It is newly opened so it looks squeaky and clean. I was just sorry I didn't get to have some of their actual meals. It's a bit far for me, but I think I might go back for breakfast or lunch sometime. read more
Great good, great service. Everything we tried was good. Jalapeño jam was my favorite. The consensus was the chicken fried chicken was better than the chicken fried steak. Egg roll was unique and fun, combined with the Jalapeño jam it was so good. Definitely going back. I didn't try any backed goods. None of them where calling my name this trip. Maybe next time. Great service! Warm atmosphere! Cute decor! Food was delicious! Their creams (and jams) are homemade and very yummy! Everything was homemade, biscuit was fluffy, chicken was crispy and flavorful and the honey butter added a sweet taste to the savory biscuit and chicken. The breakfast potatoes were also great! We were able to stop by this adorable little café on Easter Sunday wondering they would be open :-) we were pleasantly surprised that they were!. We did not have to wait at all and you order at the counter and then find a seat. The decor is adorable . The food was, good and very very good size portions :-) my husband and I truly enjoyed it and we will be adding this restaurant to our list of Sunday brunch favorites :-) read more

I really wanted to like this place but I just didn't. My daughter had a pb&j sandwhich which had real jam in it so that was a plus. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and my boyfriend ordered a sunshine burger. Big mistake. I do believe this place has potential with the other items on the menu. The patties were bland, the buns were over toasted, the mushrooms on my burger tasted odd. The fried green tomatoes were soggy and the sauce that came with it was way too sour. read more

The ambiance reminds me of the good parts of country living. The plants are well kept, and the food is FANTASTIC. Biscuits and gravy is probably my favorite breakfast meal and it was well done. The lady at the front was knowledgeable and kind. Will definitely be returning (: read more
Nasty !! The biscuits tasted like cardboard. The chicken was pretty decent. The potatoes were ok. The food was hot and fresh. Customer service was amazing. She kept our coffee fully stocked. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The good was not my favorite at all. I will not return at all. read more

A delicious spot for breakfast and brunch, hidden in the corner of the strip- they need a sign out by the main road for sure! But if you're lucky enough to find it, you won't be disappointed with the selection and quality of the food. Clean interior, with a mom and pop cafe vibe, food came out very quickly. This is a Mom and Pop restaurant is in the corner of Pat Booker's retail center. A little bit hidden so I guess you can describe it as a hidden gem. I had the Eggs Benedict which came with a side of home fries while my husband had chicken fried chicken on a biscuit also served with a side of home-fries. His came with gravy and honey butter. Both meals were delicious with the biscuits being the star of the show. Really delicious! If there is one thing I could criticize is that my home fries were over-seasoned. They were quite salty but in the restaurant's owners defense, I did not say anything about it when she came to our table to check on us. I decided to take the rest of the potatoes home and will "doctor" them a bit. All together though, we were pleased with the service and the food. read more
