DO NOT COME HERE - SCAMMER ALERT - UNETHICAL PRACTICE UPDATE: (Read below update for the original review). It is Tuesday, May 26 and after a week of this nonsense that you "mechanics" at Davidson started, I finally received my vehicle back from the other mechanic shop I had to tow to from YOUR shop. (Read that sentence again and understand its absurdity). I had to tow it from your shop last Friday because of the botched work you guys did to my vehicle. My car runs fine now. All they (professional mechanics) had to do was replace the coils. You scammers at Davidson tried to sell it off as a transmission issue, telling me I need a new transmission. Now, I question if you damaged my coils from an improper spark plug change, and I'm sure you guys knew the coils were bad and it was a misfire but you insisted it was a transmission issue even though I showed you the receipts from my two previous mechanic visits that cleared my vehicle in March and April. How did you figure that my perfectly functioning vehicle prior to visiting your shop, that I suddenly, coincidentally had transmission issues after a spark plug change? Your scare tactic did not work on me. Knowing that I needed to start driving to Boston next week, you guys took advantage of that information and tried to force my hand. Actually you guys owe me $80 for that diagnostic test I paid for, and possibly $1000 for my coils you guys damaged, not to mention the time and energy wasted on this endeavor all because you guys wanted some extra cash from me. At the end of the day, you guys did nothing net positive for my vehicle. You installed spark plugs wrong and charged me a diagnostics test for the errors YOU caused. The spark plugs I bought were from RockAuto and researched prior and they are the original spark plugs that Mazda uses on their new vehicles. If the other mechanic can fix and diagnose my vehicle in half a days time, you "mechanics" are held to the same standard and should not spend three days diagnosing a problem and then to say "I don't know what is wrong". Even worse, to lie to me. FOLKS, PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR WORK. --- Original Post: I'm sitting writing this right now as I wait for a tow truck to tow my truck to another mechanic after their botched attempt to replace spark plugs. Yes you read that right, these guys ("mechanics"", "hobbyist mechanics", "amateur mechanics") can't do a simple spark plug install. Context: I had no issues with my vehicle prior to service at this shop. It was running smooth. I only came in for preventative maintenance and a spark plug change per my maintenance schedule before my drive to Boston. Day 1 - I bring my car in to get a routine check and spark plug change. They tell me after installing the spark plugs there were error codes and say my car runs strange so they want to run a diagnostics test. I say okay and few hours later they said they cleaned the coils and my car is fine as they tested it around the block. Day 2 - I drive to work in the morning. When accelerating on the highway the car rattles and rumbles. The car is basically undeliverable. I bring it to the shop to look at. You would think a spark plugs change is a simple procedure any mechanic can do right, but not here. Day 3 - They get back to me and tell me they can't find any issues with it. I tell them to try again and they call me back and say it's a transmission issue with low fluids. That can't be right as I had my car just serviced for transmission in March and then routine checked for my Texas road trip in late April just two weeks ago (I showed them my receipts) No transmission or any issue whatsoever. Actually the vehicle has never had any major issues prior to this visit to Davidson Car Care. I get my car back and there is a Check Engine Light. SO somehow my car was worse than it was yesterday. How is that possible? What the hell did you guys do to my car? I'm am seriously wondering if they are maliciously damaging vehicles to get repairs done. At the end of the day, these people are careless and unprofessional. Their work standards are not ethical and they are dishonest. The manager is saying one thing while on my receipt for payment it is saying something entirely different. Manager is saying there is transmission issue, whereas the service report done by technician said there was no transmission error codes prior to installation of spark plug. This tells me they are making up stuff to on the fly to make you pay more money. I had to beg them to give me a refund because they did net negative work. It would have been better if I did not bring my vehicle in for service which is in itself an insane thing to say. PLEASE do not give this place your money and certainly do not have them touch your car. read more

WOW - I like to do my own repair when I can but knew I was out of my depth after working on an EVAP issue for a week. The owner / manager actually came in on his day off when the shop was closed to make absolutely sure it was fixed in time for us to take it on our road trip. I handed him a hot mess but he got it diagnosed, fixed it and actually worked with my warranty company to fix another major repair I couldn't have done in my own garage. Well done and thank you! Have been a customer for over 14 years and I truly hate to say it, but the quality of work there has significantly gone down, while the pricing has skyrocketed. They are no longer even comparable to the pricing the dealership for the make of my car would charge. I had a conversation with another customer waiting also and he won't be using them again either. He noticed the same thing. I was quoted one price and arrived for the work to find out they added parts I was neither quoted or advised would be needed, which added $200. It feels like they moved a different direction and are no longer trustworthy, which was what I loved about them. It's too bad. read more

Brought my truck in because the transmission was shifting poorly and needed to be replaced. I left my truck there for a week with no response from them at all. I decided to call them and ask what the deal was with my truck? I I was told that the guy that does transmissions wasn't in for the past few days. OK no worries that's fine I said after they inspected my truck they told me that nothing was wrong with it whatsoever and that all I had to do was let it warm up for 20 to 30 minutes before driving it every time and that the transmission should shift just fine. LIES.... Long story short. I took my truck to Another shop and had the transmission completely rebuilt. Thank you Davidson for holding my truck for a week and doing absolutely nothing. read more

Tony and his crew are head and shoulders above the other shops in and around town. I brought my truck by for a custom suspension quote and he didn't blow smoke. He cranked out some honest labor numbers, recommended a heavy duty alignment and told me ballpark based on total time to do the job. It took a little longer because of stubborn bolts and they ended up keeping it overnight, but the end result was fantastic and well within the quote we talked about. I put new tires on it today and he re-shot the alignment just to make sure everything was sitting well. I highly recommend. No bullshit, straightforward, honest work done well. read more

I came to Davidson Car Care in need of some immediate services for one of my fleet vehicles. 1. Inspection in order to get current registration 2. Clogged Evaporator core making the AC blow at a lower speed making it uncomfortable for my employees during these hot summer days in Texas. The office guys were great to deal with, I was treated like family here and no time was wasted addressing my issues and getting me back on the road. The tech's in the back shop were definitely industry professionals with product knowledge, which can be rare to find these days. I can't tell you how many bad experiences I've had with tech's learning on my vehicle on MY dime....not here. I highly recommend theses guys for several reasons. I've been coming here off and on for years now. Yes, I've had 1 or 2 problems (mostly around a transmission that was outsourced) but overall, I keep coming back. I stopped by this morning for an oil change and inspection and was there about an hour. They are very nice guys and polite. My only consistent complaint is the chairs in the waiting room. The water and coffee are a nice touch and the waiting room is spotless. Both vehicles have 100,00 + plus miles, and I do believe in regular maintenance. This is a good shop. read more

After bringing in my car three times for an A/C that would not blow cold air, they diagnosed the problem as a faulty compressor. I almost paid the $1200 for it, but decided to get a second opinion at Allen Automotive. Allen Automotive diagnosed the problem and guaranteed it was NOT the compressor -- and fixed the real problem for $116. Davidson Care Care is a rip off, or worse, didn't know what they were diagnosing. read more

They do fix things right, instead of using the hunt and peck method of car repair.. They don't try to sell you on doing things that don't need to be done. I have been to Davidson a few times over the past couple of years. The have always been upfront, honest, and sincere with me. They have even worked with me a couple of times on pricing. Other repair shops in the area don't compare. I have been ripped off by almost every other repair shop in Allen, until I found these guys! Quality work, excellent customer service, and fair pricing. They're competent, they do a good job of diagnosing problems instead of "fixing this, and if it doesn't help then fixing that - etc, " they don't do work that doesn't need to be done. Brought in my truck to have them evaluate a problem. The GM dealer told me that I had to rebuild the front differential. Cost: something like $1600. I didn't trust the dealer Davidson diagnosed the problem as a bad wheel hub bearing and fixed it the same day for about 20% of what the dealer wanted. This is about the third time that Davidson has correctly diagnosed/fixed something that had been misdiagnosed elsewhere. I trust them read more

My AC was repaired and works great. However, I found small foam pieces all over the inside of my truck. I started to pick it up and realized it was greasy. And then I looked at my leather seats to find grease on them. I can see where they attempted to clean the leather.....looks awful. Is it too much to ask for seats to be covered and for some protection be laid on the floors?? read more

Not only were they really quick (about 3 hours to pull out seats to get to the fuel tank), but they cost about 1/3 of the cost of 3 other places I had called to quote. Brought the girlfriends vehicle in for an oil change and to diagnose a couple of additional issues on a Saturday. Later, I got a call that a new oil drain plug has to be ordered because the old one was "on too tight". Apparently, they stripped it trying to remove it. I was told that the part had to be ordered and wouldn't arrive until Monday, leaving her with no car. No apology was provided, no offer of a discount for something that clearly is a mechanics mistake. They did not call prior to performing the work that they would later bill me for. I would have never authorized them to pull the plug out if they were unable to get it off in the first place. I was fortunately able to contact a friend who could get me a drain plug that day. I picked it up and brought them the new drain plug. They completed the oil change, then billed me for the work. Again, no apology was provided and they even billed us for the additional wok they claimed needed to be done to remove the plug (that I never authorized). I expressed my dissatisfaction with the entire situation and instead of finally receiving that apology I was owed; I was met with contempt from the service rep at the counter. When questioned why I would need to pay for their mistakes, their story changed to the drain plug was already stripped (not true) to we were not actually charged for that work. This place is squirrelly, provides poor customer service and apparently not even cut out to do a basic oil change. read more

I seriously don't know where to begin. My car broke down on me so I had it towed to Davidson Car Care. The next day they ran diagnostics and said the problems were the manifold pressure sensor,airflow sensor and battery. Total for repairs and labor came out to be $476.42. I agreed to pay and they told me it would be ready by mid afternoon. I picked up my car and they told me it was fixed. I drive literally a mile or so down the road and the exact same thing happened to my car and it dies on me. I called Davidson Car Care and explained to them what happened and they arrange for a tow back to their shop and was told they would see what was wrong. I called the next day and they told me they are working on finding the cause of the problem. I don't hear from them so I go up there and talk to the manager and explain to him how I felt about spending close to $500.00 on repairs and car dying on me upon leaving their shop. The manager told me don't worry we will make things right and it will be fixed. A couple of days pass and I call them, and when I do the manager seemed annoyed that I kept calling to check the status of my car. A week pass and I call and they tell me that it's electrical and they have to bring a person from another repair shop to find the problem. I asked for a partial refund on what I have already paid and was told no. I had my car towed back to my residence and it was in worse a worse condition then before. This is a true story. So do yourselves a favor if you or anyone you know has car problems DO NOT take it to Davidson Car Care. read more
