Turkey plate with cream corn and Mac and cheese
Keshia R.

The people here are extremely nice. You go in and place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. Someone brings the food to the table. Their BBQ sauce is orange and it tasted more like marinara sauce than BBQ sauce. Thankfully they had some sweet Baby Ray BBQ. The Turkey was very dry and wasn't seasoned. The mac and cheese was decent. I didn't even try the corn. My coworkers said the BBQ sauce tasted like ragú but he enjoyed the sausages and brisket. Parking is free

Open Christmas Day! Amazing bbq sandwiches, tacos and huge baked potato topped with bbq. So good. Don't let the other reviews stop you from a visit. Worth it! I ate my pulled pork sandwich to fast I forgot a picture.

It is very disheartening to see only 3 stars for this place. They deserve 5 stars. The food was great! The ribs melt off the bone and the sausage was on point. The best part is their in house sauce. I really think they should bottle and sale. It is by far my favorite bbq sauce. Their potato salad and Mac and cheese are great as well. I was very pleased with their customer service. I highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try. We will returning next time we are in town.

Nothing special. Very expensive for two loaded potatoes. $27.00. The meat was tasteless. Won't return.

The reviews were mixed, so we decided to try for ourselves. Upon our arrival, you could see and smell the smoky air. We were thinking, this should be good! The outside looks modern, the parking lot wasn't exactly full. The inside was clean and the menu was written on the wall inside. It wasn't fully visible until you walk up as you're in line. You place your order cafeteria style and pay at the end of the line. Sit where you want and clean up after yourself. We both had a combo. They were out of the pork tenderloin so my husband had the turkey and lean brisket, creamed corn and cheesy green beans. I had the brisket and jalapeno sausage with mac n cheese and potato salad. I have to say the selection of sides looked really good. Once we really got a chance to sink our teeth into everything, we both agreed as some of the other reviewers, that the brisket left a lot to be desired. Yes, it was lean but it was seriously lacking flavor. Everything else, was good. The people were friendly. They even had music provided by Lonnie. He sang and played guitar. Mostly country and 50s, but he said he would take requests and give it his best shot. We had a really enjoyable, relaxing time. Surprisingly they close at 8:00pm. Haven't quite decided whether we'll be back when there are other amazing places to try.

I had see it recommended by so many people and I'm happy to report that it lived up to the hype (and still impressed me)! NOTES: - Reservations: no... walk in only - Parking: a few spots on the side of the building but free street parking nearby as well - Closed on Wednesday THE HIGHS: - Our server, Kevin, was PHENOMENAL... he was friendly but fast and efficient! - Coffee was strong and refilled constantly - Food came out quickly and everything was fresh - Not a single bad bite... everything was delicious! THE LOWS: - I wish I had more stomach space to try other items! THE PRICE: An absolute STEAL for how good the food is! - Country Biscuit and Sausage Gravy ($13.50 + $1 for cheese added to scrambled eggs) - Josephine ($13) - Short Stack Pancake ($6) - Biscuit ($2.50) - Side of Grits ($4) The total was $44.50 after tax ($3.30) and a credit card processing fee ($1.20) but before tip. (We also got coffee but weren't charged for it) BEST BITES: - Josephine (biscuit was thick and soft, egg was fried perfectly, brie cheese was creamy and delicious, honey ham added the perfect savory element, and the fig preserves added a nice touch of sweetness) - Pancakes (thick and fluffy... everything you'd want them to be) - Grits (simple but delicious... I've had a lot of grits and these were the perfect texture) THE VERDICT: This was my first visit to Sunset Grill after seeing it recommended by so many people... it was a must-try while in Fredericksburg and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip! The service was fantastic, the prices are affordable, and the food is top-tier for comfort breakfast. I already can't wait to come back and will recommend it to everyone I know visiting Fredericksburg!
