On 5/22/25, I purchased the Combo Platter, costing well over $60 dollars. I was advised at the time the kitchen was closing and that the collard greens were not available. Which they could have advised before 20:00. They offered to replace the collard greens with donuts. One donut was larger than the entire meal Itself! The Mac & Cheese came in a small plastic container. The consistency was like glue and was not good at all. They sent two small ribs the size of a pointer finger. It's was dry, along with the Brisket, which was very dry and parts of the meat was hard. The chicken wings were burnt and hard as a rock, which was inedible! The fried breaded shrimp was placed in a small plastic container and was very soggy!! If this is a representation of this establishment, then they have a lot of work to do!! In the mean time, I will spend my money elsewhere!

This review is about food "safety"- not quality. Our son often works close by this restaurant & he's gotten take out about 4x. We've tried many of their sandwiches & always get their brisket egg rolls- delicious & easy to reheat. I am writing this because I found not ONE, but TWO bones, over an inch long & thick in TWO DIFFERENT egg rolls-. I almost choked on the first, but luckily the second day I "sifted" through the meat & found the second. I will NEVER get the egg rolls- again, and I 'm debating about other items, because this negligence could be indicative of their lax effort in the kitchen. I understand that if you order a chicken or fish, you have to watch for small bones- BUT I DON'T expect an egg roll with already prepared brisket to contain hidden bones.- You literally could have killed me.

First time trying this place, it was pretty okay. We got the 2 meat/2 side platter and the amount of meat that you receive for the price It's not worth it. Ribs were very small and didn't have much meat on them and only received 3 wings which is outrageous. The sides were okay, nothing that will blow your mind. We also tried the big mama sandwich and that was pretty good, lacking a bit of flavor but nothing some bbq sauce can't fix.

Burger of the week. Blue cheese and bacon jam on an everything donut bun. Messy & delicious!

Solid 4 stars. The food is really excellent here and made with love. Minus a star for 2 sandwiches and a couple sides taking a full 30 minute wait to receive. Also the prices are a little high, and one of the staff was touching meat and a bunch of other things afterwards, register, etc. with no gloves on and no wash in between.

    Chicken Chipotle Rice Bowl

Great location. Warm feel and welcoming staff. Was just passing by the area and walked in with that magnificent punch of smoked meats and fresh baked doughnuts. I tried the Chipotle chicken rice bowl. A flavor-packed fall apart chicken and fresh avocado and cilantro on top of super soft jasmine rice. Unbelievably delicious! Family enjoyed a huge smash burger with thick chewy bacon and fall apart, "eat every last scrap of meat" ribs. We topped off with some fun and interesting doughnuts. Cool historic building and walked off my 2000 calorie lunch in the attached antique store. Great spot, delicious food, friendly staff and will definitely travel an hour from my hometown for more!

Ok salty fries and not so good stale cornbread

Not a great first time experience. What took me to this place was the search for the best cinnamon bon in the area. Not the case here which I could tell by looking at the cinnamon bin in their glass case. Way too big to be any good but we had to try since we were there. Cinnamon bon was too tough, as if it had been there a bit longer than it should have (not fresh). Wasn't horrible but definitely not worth it. Buttercream icing was okay. The Cookie Monster donut had too much icing for our liking. Otherwise the donut seemed somewhat fresh and okay. Lastly was the pulled pork platter with fries and cornbread. Way too much fat and gristle again not worth it. What little bit of pork was in there was good, juicy and tender with good smoked flavor. Fries were mediocre a bit salty for my liking but fine otherwise. Cornbread was horrible definitely not fresh too tough as if had been packaged for several days. Flavor was southern sweet crunch with some type of smoked flavor blended in. All of this for $55 which is why such low review. Not impressed will not be going out of our way to visit again. Definitely not the best or close to cinnamon bon in S.Jersey area. Service was polite but slow. Ambiance was mediocre with booths that seating on each side pushes one another around. Unfortunately we were not impressed and will not be back for 2nd opinion.

    Potato salad- amazing

I had been wowed by their other location so decided to venture to this one during covid-19 phase 2 outdoor eating only. First, during covid all rules flew out the window for the staff. No one is wearing masks right, if at all. I mean you have the the chick at the register with a mask on her ear and that's it. Anyhow, THE FOOD, right? Tip: order a good side dish. Get the potato salad. It was possibly the best I've had in years. They didn't have any Mac and cheese left but don't go for the cornbread as a back up comfort/side. Mine was burnt and not sweet. Cornbread should be sweet, hence the corn (sweet in taste) reference in the name. My chicken sandwich was a 2/3 star. Just something missing, really. The chicken was a little dry. The bread was fresh but toasted, which I like. BBQ sauce was sweeter than spicy, another plus. The candied bacon---yes! The hardened cheese lets me know my plate sat for a bit. Ugh. Meh. My husband gave his bbq sandwich a hard pass but I did not try it. We were too busy sharing the potato salad. Setting: BYOB, has their own lot, 20 seating available (picnic tables or on deck) outside, very casual and in woodsy area.

High expectations resulted in big disappointment . We were beyond excited to try a local BBQ eatery since there doesn't seem to be many around. My boyfriend spent a handful of years living in Alabama so he was looking for some southern comfort and, of course, has some high standards for the cuisine. We ordered quite the array of food since everything sounded so tasty. To start we got the candied bacon and the Red Neck Egg roll. The bacon was by far my favorite thing we ordered. A perfect salty-sweet combination and the bacon was thick and tender. Melts in the your mouth! The egg roll was large in size (one is more than enough if you're sharing it as a starter) and packed big flavors from the pulled pork and Q sauce flavors, but it was a bit too greasy. I didn't finish my half for that reason. We're a sharing couple, so we got the pulled pork sandwich (with coleslaw) and the shaved brisket platter. The sandwich was delicious! The pork was very nicely cooked, but it was missing the sauce we requested. Our order came with some BBQ sauce so we did dip the sandwich in that for a little extra flavor. I'm a coleslaw fanatic and this one was TERRIBLE. Such a let down! Literally no flavor at all. Onto the brisket platter! The brisket was quite dry but the flavors were solid. For our two sides, we chose the pit beans and corn bread. The beans were smothered with pulled pork, onions, and peppers. Absolutely delicious! If you've noticed the trend- This establishment has nailed their pulled pork items. The cornbread though? WOOF! A total letdown. It was like you just went hiking through a desert for 8 hours with not a single sip of water. That's how dry this large square of bread was. My boyfriend compared it to sawdust and he's right on the money. I tried to save it with the butter, but the most it did was slightly hold it together better. No bueno! Sadly, unsure if we will be back for a second try.

Ribs with brussel sprouts and lobster Mac and cheese

We came here with family to eat before going to the lights on main Christmas celebration. It's a really small place I thought we would be waiting awhile for a table but it was only about 15 minutes. Our table was kinda cramped they pushed a 2 top next to a booth which really wasn't enough room for 7 people, but I guess they had to make do. They gave us free samples of their seasonal apple donut which was nice. It was a little dry but ok. I ordered the 1/3 rack or ribs. They let you pick any 2 sides you wanted from their list even the premium ones so I was excited to get the lobster Mac and cheese and I got the Brussel sprouts with bacon. I'm a huge seafood fan but surprisingly I liked the brussel sprouts better. They were delicious- charred and had a smoky bacon flavor throughout the whole dish. It was a huge amount too I ended up taking some home and had leftovers for 2 more days. The lobster Mac had some good sized pieces of lobster, a lot of places are stingy on the lobster but they weren't. The lobster made it taste fishy throughout the whole Mac though and there was some type of cheese I'm used to having in it that was missing, maybe needed more of a sharp cheddar flavor. I really liked the ribs. They had a great smoky flavor as well. They put the sauce on the side which I originally wasn't really happy about but then once I tasted it I knew why. They wanted you to taste the great rib flavor by itself without drowning it in BBQ sauce. It almost reminded me of the ribs we got in Kansas City. The only thing is I usually like my ribs falling off the bone tender which these weren't, but the flavor made up for it. My husband's beef brisket sandwich was delicious as well and I kept stealing his.

Well, I pretty sure where I was going to the blue plate on Main Street. My GPS told me that I had…read morereached my destination and I saw the big sign that said BluePlate. It was a pleasant location and I waited for my dining partner standing outside an older looking building, which I thought was a nice venue for a restaurant. But, then I saw my dining partner's car turn into a driveway or street or parking lot. a few buildings down from where I was. Surprise. surprise they were going to the right location. I just parked in the extra parking lot. not the greatest start to an evening's dinner. However, once I discovered the real restaurant, I found that we were eating at a quaint quality dining location. the menu was interesting with some very simple choices. However, I was disappointed to find out there was no soup of the day just french onion and their matzah. Service was prompt and friendly, which you always want when you dine out. Well that was until we were encouraged to leave because reservations were coming in (We had finished dining And we're just conversing so it was not that troublesome that we were basically told we had a couple of minutes to get out of the restaurant.). Our dinner options were a salad and pasta, I chose the small portion of pasta based on the waitress's recommendation and she was right. The food was all really good, which will probably lead to a return visit. The Blueplate appears to offer many interesting options with music and other activities. So kudos to them.
