Freak shake
Jenny B.

After hearing about the famous freak shakes, I decided to take my kids here. We ended up arriving right after the town's Christmas parade so the place was packed. The staff did a great job at moving the tables and getting in as many people as they could, the large crowd did not slow down the service. There were 4 freak shakes to pick from, each outlined with details and a photo in a special freak shake binder. We went with the mint, birthday, and chocolate shakes. They were beautifully messy. My kids loved them. They were about $15 each.

Bourbon-pecan bread pudding was a bust
Kelly M.

We had just finished at Blk Shp and the bourbon pecan bread pudding was calling to us from The Red Hen so we closed out next door and walked on over. The place looked like a cute diner. It was empty. A nice young man came to take our order. When the bourbon pecan bread pudding came we were a little confused. It didn't look like bread pudding. It didn't taste like bread pudding and there was no bourbon flavor at all. It was like they took King's Hawaiian Bread, tore it up, and lined a dish with it. They then tossed some pecans on it, covered it with a sweet sauce, and plopped a scoop of ice cream on top. I appreciate strange and creative food but it has to taste good and be worth the cost. This was definitely not worth the money. It wasn't a satisfying dessert in any way, shape, or form. We tried the bread in the sauce, ate the ice cream, and left the rest.

Falafel sandwich on pita

Wow. We have not been here since March 2020. We are locals, the last time we went was for my sons 4th birthday- now almost 7 he still remembers that freak shake! We pass by often and went in on a Wednesday evening about 6pm. A few families, adult dinners and some young loves on a date night! We both had a beer & margarita. I should have skipped the margarita since we were planning to get a freak shake, I upped my tequila, and it was good. It came in at $11.95. No apps, we had our youngest who is nearly 2, so we didn't want to make it a longer meal. B: chicken burger & fries. Aka fried chicken sandwich with a good sauce. He said it was good and this place was better than he remembered. Me: falafel on pita. Omg so, so good! So flavorful, the lettuce, tomatoes, onion & tazkiki sauce was good. I got the good homemade chips. Kids: we split the adult portion of spaghetti & meatballs, it came with 3 generous sized meatballs, plenty of pasta. It was perfect for the kids. We bought home the pasta, that was $13.95 We finished with m&m chocolate sugar daddy freak shake. It was delicious & messy. We won't wait nearly 3 years to return! Check it out.

The Real Crab Fries
Jessica P.

The menu is a tad confusing as we ordered crab fries and thought they were different than French fries with crab pieces on them along with a delectable cheese sauce. So we had that and I also ordered old Bay Fries because again--thought crab fries were more crab forward. The vegan pizza was plain but tasty. Service was slow when we were seated then picked up. Overall it was a decent experience but the menu should have a better explanation.

Andrew doing his thing...no, I'm not related to him, but a good bartender makes the experience memorable.

Really an incredible place. Food: way above average in every way Beer: curated list, impressive, elite beers Service: Andrew runs this bar like a well-oiled machine, offering the finest beer and service with a smile. He Knows beer and nothing replaces that knowledge when you love good beer. We frequent the best craft beer establishments...this one rises above the rest.

I love their menu. We have so many Italian spots in the area so this mix of dishes is what we need. I might need to go now !

The food is ok. Prices very high, and not much to chose from. I don't think I would go back.

Since retired but came here today to see my friend/old customer. Got here at 12pm. Seated quickly in the back (place was very dark). Waitress came by for our soft drinks. I order an ice tea. She came back as the tea had to be brewed - now its noon time and tea for ice tea isnt brewed which took 10/15 mins (first strike). Placed our order - i ordered 5 wings and the roasted veggie grinder. Lunch partner ordered a French dip. Wings came out timely and were good. It took the French dip and roasted veggie grinder 30 mins to come out and the order was wrong - it wasnt a French dip, my sandwich was not toasted, nor did it have the aioli on it either (2nd strike); both went back - server apologized and said remake would come out quickly. There was a table of 3 ladies other side of us and their order came out three times to complete - it came out piecemeal but i digress. Server was clearly embarrassed since she stayed away. I saw her and asked when out food was coming - 1255pm the remake came out. The French dip was supposed to be on a seeded roll which it was not, and my roasted veggie sandwich was a mushy mess of what they called roasted veggies still on a soft ciabatta roll that was not toasted as a grinder should be and the veggies were over salted. (3rd strike) The server offered to have the manager come by but I declined as he/she would not have been happy by the time I was done with him or her. After being closed for a few years was excited to come back. Needless to say wont be going back. It should not take 30 mins for sandwiches to come out, then be a wrong order or not as advertised, then have to wait another 20 minutes for the remake and still be wrong. my sandwich was comped which was kind of the server.

I'm a Delco native so I thought I had made a mistake getting a roast pork anything on this side of the river, but my mistake was waiting this long to try it. No shortage of sports on like 18 big tee-vees. Sat in the heated tent outside cause the place is slammed all the time. Definitely get on the wait list before you go. Once you have a table they take great care of you and with the quickness, though. Already can't wait to try the pizzas I didn't land on, this trip.

We topped it off with their green goddess salad, I've also had the winter Waldorf salad, which is equally great. The perogies were unremarkable, however and a bit soggy. I've also always had great service here, even when busy they made sure to check in on our table. Cinder bar has a very busy happy hour on most weekdays, very rarely there is a wait however! There's bar and indoor seating, as well as a covered outdoor area.

Way too expensive for the food and experience…read more Yes I went there for Easter. Yes it was a holiday menu. Are you serious that chicken fingers and fries were $20.99? On the kids menu? This place does not serve exceptional food. It's not a Michelin star stop. It's a typical Italian style place with a good view who apparently hates beer and thinks their food is far better than it actually is. The pricing is insane. Actually, worse than that, screw these people. That's how pissed they made me. My rib eye wasn't even rendered properly with lots of connective tissue and thick hard fat. My kid's salad was drenched in dressing he didn't like despite us ordering it on the side. The $25 shrimp cocktail was literally 4 unseasoned shrimp. The $20 calamari app was half fried pepper rings. Everything was double what it should have cost. Are these morons serious with their prices? I can't believe this horrible place is still in business. It's insulting. Almost like they are trying to keep out the riff raff. I hate them for that. If you are going to have prices like this, you better serve perfect food. I seriously will never give them another chance. They don't deserve it. Who do they think they are?

It was a pleasant location and I waited for my dining partner standing outside an older looking building, which I thought was a nice venue for a restaurant. But, then I saw my dining partner's car turn into a driveway or street or parking lot. a few buildings down from where I was. Surprise. surprise they were going to the right location. I just parked in the extra parking lot. not the greatest start to an evening's dinner. However, once I discovered the real restaurant, I found that we were eating at a quaint quality dining location. the menu was interesting with some very simple choices. However, I was disappointed to find out there was no soup of the day just french onion and their matzah. Service was prompt and friendly, which you always want when you dine out. Well that was until we were encouraged to leave because reservations were coming in (We had finished dining And we're just conversing so it was not that troublesome that we were basically told we had a couple of minutes to get out of the restaurant.). Our dinner options were a salad and pasta, I chose the small portion of pasta based on the waitress's recommendation and she was right. The food was all really good, which will probably lead to a return visit. The Blueplate appears to offer many interesting options with music and other activities. So kudos to them.
