The Smoque (Pork Rib) Macaroni & Cheese Broccoli Salad

Some of the best bbq I've had in the Northeast! I ordered via UberEats and the food transported well. I had the ribs. They were fall off the bone and so flavorful! The broccoli salad was a perfect side, the Mac was thick and creamy. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her brisket dish as well. Bookmarked this one for future bbq cravings!

Pork Ribs Plate with Macaroni & Cheese and Candied Yams - Candied Yams (Small)

I had been thinking about BBQ for a few days and today was the day I decided to search for a new place nearby. I saw a lot of promising places and the reviews for them were decent. However, this place caught my eye bc it was close and people were constantly raving about the food. So, I decided to stop in today. Parking isn't always available on Haddon Ave in CMD, but you can get creative sometimes. The police don't really enforce parking rules when there are far more important things going on in the city. With that being said, I finally found a spot and my experience took off from there. A young lady greeted me at the door. She was pleasant and eager to assist me. I took a look at the menu and quickly found I wanted to go with the pork ribs and 2 sizes. So, that's what I did. I even ordered the small lemonade with a shot of passion fruit for .50. The wait for my food wasn't long. I'd say maybe 10 mins or so. I was given a healthy sized platter with napkins and utensils. I couldn't wait to dig in. Everything was pipping hot. The mac n cheese was *chef's kiss*. It was so creamy, cheesy, and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the candied yams. When I tell you the candied yams were some of THEE BEST I have ever tasted, I mean that . I had to close my eyes while eating them bc they almost knocked me out. The yams were sweet, but not overpowering. I could taste the cinnamon, butter, etc. Now, the ribs were tasty. I found the BBQ to be different, but authentic. The ribs were tender and I do mean fall off the bone tender. I was happy with the ribs, but would have wanted more just to be sure (yes, I'm greedy). I'm going to wrap up my review by saying, give this place a try if you want authentic BBQ that will make you feel like your money was well spent.

    Sliced Beef Brisket Plate

I eat here at least twice a month, and I don't usually stray from my usual order -- sliced beef brisket plate with kale greens, mac and cheese, cornbread, and a lemonade. My last order I got the Parkside rice and it was delicious, just wish it was more. I felt my last order was lighter than usual (less brisket and greens), so was a little sad as I usually save some for later. It was still good, though, so of course I'll be back. Lol

The food is 6 out of 5 good! The portions are generous, the price is more than reasonable and I love supporting black owned business that have great customer service. There was a young man who helped prepare my food and he was extremely professional and courteous. I got the party wings platter and the pork ribs platter. They BOTH were good! They really grill/smoke their meats which give the food a unique and great flavor. There's no dine-in seating, but if they ever decided to have seated tables this place could give Corrine's a run for their money. You ain't heard that from me!

Last weekend after visiting my brother's new home in the Parkside section of Camden, little did I know that I would find this hidden gem nestled among a row of dilapidated buildings on Haddon Avenue. Its new design and fresh-looking façade are what immediately caught my eye. Being inquisitive by nature, I had to get out to see what this place was all about, and on this particular day, I was on my way to visit my mom and figured we could both use a bite to eat. I parked in the vacant lot on the corner directly across the street from the restaurant, walked up, snapped a pic, and then proceeded to walk in. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter named Omar. I scanned the interior which appeared very clean and tidy. The wall décor pays homage to a series of notable African American figures. Side Bar: Oftentimes thoughts of crime and poverty spring to mind when it comes to Camden, but that is not the whole of the City's story. It's a place where people love one another and take care of each other. It's a place with a lot of untold history. As a child growing up in the city, I remember visiting The Walt Whitman House in Parkside and learning about Whitman's dream of "a city invincible" (hint: he was talking about Camden). Today, Camden is a wellspring of new economic opportunities, and Blowin' Smoque is a nod to that dream of Whitman's. I am encouraged to see that the entrepreneurs behind Blowin' Smoque have a heart for the city and take great pride in their establishment. They are not another big corporate name setting up shop to exploit a poor community. Blowin' Smoque stands out as a beacon of hope for others from the City who dream of becoming business owners. Now for the food... I ordered the Big Beef meal which comes with brisket 3 sides: I chose the mac n' cheese, broccoli salad, and yams, and I added greens and a 10-piece order of party wings for good measure -- because both mom and I like to EAT eat!! I upsized two of the sides (the mac and the yams) to have a larger, shareable portion. It cost $3 extra for each upsize which takes it from a standard 8 oz. container to a 16 oz. one. I also received a tall cup of fresh lemonade. The total for all that food came to ~$60... not too bad on the pockets especially given the substantial portion of beef brisket I got. * The Meats BABY! Let me tell you.... That meat was SO tender and tasty. It gets my stamp of approval as **Five Finger Lickin' Delicious** no doubt. The meat was flavorful and the spices well-balanced (not overly salty as is common among BBQ-smoked meat joints). The BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet at the same time. The party wings were smoked to perfection; I sucked that meat right off the bone with ease. * The Sides As for the sides, I absolutely loved loved LOVED the mac n' cheese, yams, and broccoli salad; the greens were just okay. It took every ounce of willpower not to lick my plate of all those juices that remained when I was done. My mom also commented that she enjoyed every part of her meal. Plus, there were more than enough leftovers when we were done eating. We each could have had full seconds, but we were full after one plate. I will be going back to Blowin' Smoque on my next visit to Camden because Omar was trying to sell me on their pork ribs which I do want to try one day along with their Parkside Rice; I just wasn't in the mood for ribs or rice on that particular day. I truly hope that people support his place and that it is built to last because they are CERTAINLY putting out some awesome good food. There's more than enough space for another taste in Camden City and the market can sustain both the new and the existing businesses to thrive. Parkside, it is not just about Donkey's Place and Corrinne's anymore (winky face). Camden is on the rise!

Beef Brisket, Mac and cheese, sweet potato's and banana pudding in the background. Don't forget the lemonade too

Amazing food. We all had the sweet potatoes which were so good, the Mac and cheese was perfection, brisket and pork ribs were so tender and flavorful. The guys that work there were very nice and friendly. We also had the try the sweet potato pie which was the best we've ever tried. And the banana pudding too. So glad we decided to stop here for lunch while passing through town

Simply amazing!! Not only is the food delicious, but the service is outstanding! We tried what felt like most of the menu. It was like being at my grandma's house with all the love and care that went into every aspect of this experience. We sampled it all!--brisket, mac & cheese, cabbage, greens, baked beans, ribs, rice, potato salad, candied yams, sweet potato pic, lemonade, iced tea--every bit and sip were what I'm looking for in a bbq joint. I'm from out of town, but I'll be back any time I'm in the area. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try!

We aren't in complete love with the entree options -- while they offer a ton of options such as a vegetarian tofu option, it felt a bit small for the price. They are super friendly and the place feels approachable, not too fancy, but not too casual either. Would recommend again. What you didn't come here for: - Water: The water is not the greatest. Not horrid but also there is some of that Philly residue in there. - Restrooms: The restrooms are tiny and up a long flight of stairs with really high rise and small treads, so they are not easily accessible. They are friends with the Thai restaurant next door who gladly welcomes guests from this restaurant to use their restroom, which is more accessible. - Accessibility: There is a step to get into the restaurant. Minus the restroom situation, all of it is accessible, though perhaps tight for a wheelchair. - Seating: While they don't have many tables, they don't appear to be so busy that there'd be a long wait. It'd work for a last minute detour or large group. - Will it fill you up? Minus the entrees which could be consumed by a hungry single person, all of the entrees can easily fill up a single person and still end up with some leftovers. - Dietary Notes: They are able to cook the food with less oil and varying levels of spice. They are able to make the food incredibly not spicy if you have anyone in your group sensitive to that.

Be careful since the entrance door is in the middle of the stairway so even once you open the door, there are still a few steps you still need to go walk down (safety caution), rather than the floor being flat once you enter through the door. The staff was very friendly and they answered my questions patiently, when I let them know it was my first time as a customer. Based on the worker's recommendation (breakfast sandwich and onigiri recommendation), I ordered the spicy pork and egg breakfast sandwich (no cheese) on a croissant, traditional mochi (filled with red bean and chopped walnuts - labeled with a "W" on the packaging), kimchi onigiri (made with Korean rice with red beans rather than white rice) , and the grapefruit tea with green tea base (hot). The breakfast sandwich was so tasty, even without the cheese! The delicious taste of the sweet and savory spicy pork, fluffy egg, and flaky croissant made me wish I ordered two of them. The walnut inside the red bean mochi gave a nice crunch and texture to the smooth red bean filling. Even though the kimchi onigiri didn't contain any meat, I think the crunch and slightly spicy pickled kimchi gave it enough flavor. Apparently, one of the workers let me know that the kimchi is homemade by their mother and the onigiri is made fresh daily! The hot grapefruit green tea kept me warm as I drank it, since it was pretty cold that day. Even though the entrance area doesn't have much seating, if you go upstairs, there is a lot more seating available. I would come visit again! :)

They have a decent selection of premade cold sandwiches and salads, and a nice hot grill selection. The cold salad I ate was the only plus, very fresh and tasty. While our group of 20 was deciding between hot or cold, a very large school group came in and got into the grill line. The one cook behind the counter seemed positively bewildered (maybe he was actually a dishwasher?) and overwhelmed. When some of our kids got in line, now 30+ kids long, a manager came along and was speaking to cook who was clearly upset. When I asked manager how long he thought they'd be waiting and were they getting more help behind the grill, he replied "we weren't expecting this many people to come in", and how they weren't ready and mumbled something else about the "group leaders calling ahead". Huh? Didn't see any signage requesting that people call ahead to tell a restaurant open to the public to be, well, ready for the public who may want to eat? Pardon us to expect a large, cafeteria style cafe in a well attended public museum to be ready for lunch AT LUNCHTIME. We had to tell our disappointed students to pick from the cold selections so we could eat and be on our way for next scheduled sight. Delegates Cafe, a huge FAIL on your part.
