We stopped here after a bus trip. The food was EXCELLENT. The service was great and the portions were huge. It is totally not like me to not get pictures of the food. We got there late and all I could do was think about eating. The place is small but the hospitality was AMAZING. The owner Corinne was very nice and accommodating. Visiting from out of state and found this place on Yelp. We arrived 30 minutes before closing but the food and the service were as if we came at peak time. The food was AMAZING. The portions are enough to feed 2/3 people off 1 plate. The chicken wings are whole and fried to perfection. The yams and Mac and cheese definitely top tier. We have been to Corinne's a number of times, but not in the last 3 years. Today, we were deeply disappointed with our rather expensive meals. First, everything was EXTREMELY salty; not well-seasoned, salty. The greens tasted like liquid smoke had been added until they tasted burnt. The macaroni and cheese was terrible; just macaroni and one very plain cheese, no variety of cheeses, no creaminess, and far too much black pepper. To think that all additional sides are priced at $7.50 each is absolutely offensive. The fried chicken and Cajun wings were also so salty that we can't eat them. And to add insult to injury, there is no longer a roll or cornbread provided with the meal. At over $25 a plate (give or take a dollar or two between entree prices), a piece of bread would have been a welcomed addition. The one bright star were the candied yams that were so delicious, my family loved them. We were going to purchase a slice of cake, but at over $8 per slice for such a small serving, that was out of the question. We used to love Corinne's but I'm sorry to say, we won't be back. read more

To my mind, this is the only valid soul food place in Philly... and it's in Jersey. But I tried and tried and tried to find someplace in the city and nothing met the standards. So over the bridge I had to go. Corinne's is basically a "meat and two" type place. All of the mains that I've had have been great, except for the salmon croquettes, which were just okay. All of the sides are delicious. Standouts include the greens, yams, and mac. Cornbread used to be included, but now it's an add on (maybe $1.50). The cake slices are most definitely made from box mix, but they put that jello pudding in there, so they're moist and delicious. The peach cobbler is just alright. Closed on Mondays. And closed a little to early almost every day. Definitely call before you come if you're taking out -- the wait can be up to 45 minutes if they're busy. read more

We went in and were invited to sit in a brightly lit restaurant with plenty of seating and a varied menu to select from. The service was prompt and genuinely enjoyable. The Owner provided individual attention to the patrons & even reminded everyone to taste the food prior to adding any additional seasonings. Everything was great. The portions were generous and it was well worth the cost which was very reasonable night add. The lemonade was so good as well. The only thing I did not care for was the potato salad only because I don't prefer sugar in my salad. The beef ribs, the fried whiting, the Mac & cheese, the sweet potatoes, the collard greens were all divine. I will definitely be back for the Sunday Buffet so I can try some of the other items offered. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking great food at a more than reasonable cost. While I don't think many dine in at Corinne's Place--looks like the dining room is used mostly for events, lured by its recent placement as #42/50 in Philadelphia Magazine and a recent James Beard award for regional food, we greatly enjoyed our dine-in experience. We decided to go with the Family Value Platter (3 meats, 3 sides) for $110.00 and after indulging, each couple came away with a to-go container of delicious soul food. The platter comes with two desserts (individually packaged) and we had a pitcher of sweet tea. Upon our server's recommendation, we tried the (1) fried chicken, (2) fried whiting, and (3) barbecue pork ribs along with (a) baked mac & cheese, (b) collard greens, and (c) rice & gravy. We also had a side of fried chicken wings, which turned out to be much like the fried chicken--not bad leftover, though--and some okra, corn & tomatoes, which had great flavor! The whiting is a delicate white fish and was terrific with a hit of Corinne's hot sauce (definitely ask for some if you like your food spicy!). The fried chicken was perfectly juicy and crispy. But the barbecue pork ribs won the meat game with fall-off-the bone, delicious BBQ sauced meat. My favorite sides were the baked mac & cheese and the collard greens--the latter were so tender! And the apple cobbler was sweet and cinnamon-y. I was unaware Corrines was undergoing renovations when we decided to go. We were ushered to a large tent , equipped with heat lamps , and seated . It was a cold windy day. The tent was warm initially but it got pretty cold out there pretty quickly. Now for the good part .... The food was excellent . The portions were generous . The server was very friendly. I ordered fried chicken, collard greens and sweet potatoes (they are not candied , it's a tender sweet potato) ... and a side of catfish. My entree was very good but the catfish was EXCEPTIONAL. I cleaned my plate the first round; the second round was too much for me to handle - lol. The staff here was awesome and very welcoming - I felt like I was visiting with my family. My hubby and I sat outdoors under a covered patio tent and listened to good music playing while we ate. I can't count how many times the staff came over and checked on us; the customer service was stellar!!! And the highlight - Corinne greeted us and checked in to make sure we were being taken care of. I regret that I did not get to take a pic with her because I was too busy stuffing my face and then dashed because a storm was looming. Really wonderful soul food with gigantic portions. Came here after reading that it won James Beard award for regional food. Pleasant patio tent or eat inside. Staff very nice. BYOB. Sundays, $18 for a buffet (that Corinne's Place staff serves; while being masked up -- might I add) is unbeatable! Had to get that out the way. I was very impressed with this spot. Parked, walked up and waited in a line briefly (on a Sunday afternoon - 12ish). The older gentleman that was standing outside -- was so kind and talked with me about the establishment. Tried for years to get here. I kept needing to be in NJ on a day they weren't open, or was in the area too late, etc. FINALLY, I planned a whole trip around making it to Corinne's for my birthday! In Feb 2022 with COVID still around, I had to do takeout. Grabbed it and headed to the Pennsauken Forman Mills parking lot 6min away. Lol, did shopping at FM too! Wow! This food was worth the planning! I'm just sad I didn't eat it sooner! Tried Donkey's years ago, and I wish I'd made it to Corinne's instead. Everything was just right for me. Each component outdid the next. I was STUFFED and couldn't finish, but I sooo wanted to because it was so good! I think the candied sweet potatoes are sweeter than the sweet potato dessert pie! My toddler was a fiend eating them. He was happy with the mac n cheese and chicken until he tasted those sweet potatoes, and then he turned into the Incredibles baby (when he's a monster) demanding more. Mac n cheese here is exactly how I like it; casserole-y not soupey, with globs of cheese that melted in the oven after it was grated into the dish, rather than a wiz-style dressing noodle bath. It was perfect! Chicken was fresh, good quality. Tender inside, crispy out. No weird spices or useless seasoning; just classic flavor you crave. Sweet potato pie and peach cobbler were good, but weakest compared to the main meal contenders. They had all the right tastes, and I'd probably appreciate them more if I hadn't stuffed myself with dinner. They are exactly the right soul food selections, but I had sweet potato overload by the end, so another option like berry crumble or key lime pie would've been a knockout flavor complement. I don't think they had wings but got the fish forget what kind think it was catfish which was slightly dry, chicken curry was ok, but the ribs are real good with the Cajun turkey wing, meatloaf, rice with gravy, Mac n cheese, collard greens, yams, oxtail all good! I've been to Corrine's possibly 10 times in my life. Two times dining in. The rest was Sunday buffet takeout... The full menu is served everyday except Sunday. With the Sunday buffet, I received a round takeout container with 5-6 sides an 5-6 different meats, a roll, potato salad, and a piece of cake. All for $19.00. This meal is large enough to share with 3 people, or it will take two days for one person to finish it. Call ahead for takeout on Sunday. There's usually a line to get in. read more
