Porkchop with an apple chutney.
Ralph H.

Our first time here and we would return but for the 45-minute drive. Our food was excellent and the service was on point. I gave 5 stars because they actually have Beef Wellington on the menu. Not many places do this well but it was a hit with a member of our group. I had the porkchop and recommend it highly.

Food is always fresh and well prepared. The menu could improve by making less food items with bacon. I dont eat pork which limits my selection because almost every item has some type of pork incorporated and I dont feel like the hassle of requesting no pork. I always go for the beef and seafood items and I am never disappointed. The oysters were fresh and filling. The ribs and burnt brisket ends were excellent , they were paired well with mash potatoes, asparagus and pickled onions. I will say the burnt ends needed some type of starch to give it balance ; I ended up stealing potatoes from by husband. The mocktails are great and I love that as an option since I dont drink. The outside dining is a breath of fresh air (literally) and the service outside is speedy. I would recommend giving this place a visit on a nice Sunday afternoon.

One of the four scallops in the "appetizer"!

Since I only live under 3 miles from here I frequent The Blue quite often. I just wanted to mention that I had the bacon wrapped scallops tonight, not only were they the largest scallops I have ever seen, they were cooked perfectly and wrapped in thick smoked bacon. The bartenders are always attentive and Carl the manager is always there for anything needed. The diners are a mixed group of workers, holiday revelers and regulars.

The food is very good. The Mac and cheese with pulled pork is a favorite of ours and the mint pie is the best.

Unfortunately this was a working lunch so had to have raspberry tea. It wasn't bad. May have had two. Yep I did. I ordered us a candied bacon to start and then I had the tuna poke salad. The bacon was delicious but some was a bit charred. I still ate it cause it was delicious just a bit charred on the ends . Now the Tuna poke salad was interesting. Not a typical poke bowl. Very tasty and yes it and the bacon filled me up. The rice said it was a coconut rice. Well it is. I tasted in the first bite and it was pleasantly different. Service was great just soft spoken. Too many years around construction equipment other things that don't help hear in a restaurant. I would love to come back in the evening so I could enjoy one of their list of adult beverages. Next time I will try and not stay away so long.

Our service was OK, but they were pretty busy. My only true complaint is that it was so loud that we had difficulty hearing one another speak, which is not ideal for girls night out. It's very cute and very tidy and even the restrooms are really cute and very clean. I met with a couple girlfriends and we split a couple dishes. We started with the matzoh ball soup and the crab bisque, which were both delicious and very flavorful , next..... we ordered the turkey burger, which was delicious and we got a side of mixed fruit, which was great and another dish we ordered was the blueberry pulled pork, which was delicious, and they can also do it gluten-free. We did order a side of french fries that was a huge portion and they looked like fresh cut and the skin was on the fries and everything was full of flavor and very fresh. We all agree that we can't wait to return and try more things on the menu. A lot of their dishes they can do dairy free or gluten-free. It was really great to have these options in place everything was very flavorful. The service was excellent and it seemed like they had a couple people that were training and shadowing other servers, but everyone was really chipper and really sweet. It is a hidden gem and the parking lot was really awesome so that we could park securely, but the town looks very walkable and really neat. I would definitely love to come back when I have more time. I cannot wait to try more things on the menu

It was a pleasant location and I waited for my dining partner standing outside an older looking building, which I thought was a nice venue for a restaurant. But, then I saw my dining partner's car turn into a driveway or street or parking lot. a few buildings down from where I was. Surprise. surprise they were going to the right location. I just parked in the extra parking lot. not the greatest start to an evening's dinner. However, once I discovered the real restaurant, I found that we were eating at a quaint quality dining location. the menu was interesting with some very simple choices. However, I was disappointed to find out there was no soup of the day just french onion and their matzah. Service was prompt and friendly, which you always want when you dine out. Well that was until we were encouraged to leave because reservations were coming in (We had finished dining And we're just conversing so it was not that troublesome that we were basically told we had a couple of minutes to get out of the restaurant.). Our dinner options were a salad and pasta, I chose the small portion of pasta based on the waitress's recommendation and she was right. The food was all really good, which will probably lead to a return visit. The Blueplate appears to offer many interesting options with music and other activities. So kudos to them.

Patio dining is where it's at!…read more We visited Filomena's Lakeview with another couple on a Wednesday evening. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the bar, and we were so impressed by how friendly the bartenders were. They were engaging and social. They set off our evening on a high note! My Pink Jaguar cocktail was beautiful and caused quite a buzz among the bar patrons! We opted to sit outside, and we are glad we did. The space is open and breezy but fully covered. No need to worry if a passing shower makes its way overhead. Steamed clams in white wine and Truffle fries for the table to start. Yum! All entrees are accompanied by a house salad or Ceasar salad. Our group ordered the Limone Chicken, Chicken Sfiziosa, Steak Frite, and the Eggplant Meatballs/Risotto. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. We loved everything. I know their linguine is house made, but not certain of the other pasta varietals. Cheesecake and Cannoli for dessert, because why not? Really nice experience! Our server was sweet and super-efficient. My only question for Filomena's Lakeview is "Where is the lake?" :)

We arrived around 3:45 PM without reservations and they immediately took us to an open table. Iced Waters were instant. Our server was very pleasant and she took our order. Bread quickly followed with two types served: Italian with sesame seeds and focaccia; however I was puzzled that it was served with a plate of hot peppers and onions in a juice. It seemed off but perhaps it's a Jersey thing. I've been all over in Italy and have never seen this. Olive oil would have been fine along with a splash of balsamic vinegar. Either way I skipped bread condiments. Next came the Fried Tomatoes topped with Lump Crab as an appetizer, but once again I had another head-scratcher, as this dish wasn't typical. First the entire dish lacked seasoning plus salt. Then red tomatoes were used and we all know what happens when you try to fry one. It turns to water after you cut it. The lump crab is what probably made this dish pricey but 3 thinly slices of a red tomato caught me off guard. Now for the final knock out: I ordered the Bone In Pork Chop and impressed that I was asked how Iiked it prepared? I said 145 degrees. She said, you mean well- done. I stated no, that would be in a range of medium. Lo and behold, it was fantastically preparation temperature, but it came topped with the same peppers and onions concoction that came out with the bread. I had no idea that this was a smothered situation. My broccolini was also a mystery. The mashed potatoes were mid. Now on to my daughter's chicken Parmesan: She said that it lacked flavor and had to add salt and pepper and also stated that the sauce was loose and there was too little of it. My wife enjoyed her Salmon. Jersey is cooking differently!!!!! I forgot to add: Underneath of my pork chop I discovered a mysterious piece of corn. I had no corn in my dish??????

Title: A 32-Year Legacy Tarnished by Toxic Leadership, Saved by Bella"…read more My husband and I have been loyal patrons of Italian Affair since its debut in July 1988 near the college apartments. For 32 years, we have admired the kind and attentive family-led atmosphere established by former owner Bruno, his sister Laura, and now her son Giuseppe, the current owner. However, our visit on May 30, 2026, was deeply distressing due to a host named Pinot, who represents the complete opposite of this community staple's values. From the start, Pinot was dismissive and rude. We were horrified to witness him openly berating and criticizing Caucasian employees in front of guests. This toxicity directly impacted our meal when Pinot instructed our server, BELLA, to hurry us along. When I mentioned feeling rushed, Bella nervously reassured us to take our time, but was reprimanded immediately after for doing so. We were told she had a 'family emergency,' but it was clear she had quit on the spot due to Pinot's unjustified actions. Furthermore, Pinot assigned busboys to watch us throughout our dinner as if we were a risk to 'skip out' on the bill, making us feel unwelcome in an establishment we've called home for decades. It was only after speaking with Giuseppe about Pinot's blatant ignorance that Bella was called back to complete our service. Despite the hostile environment created by the host stand, BELLA was EXTRAORDINARY AND ULTIMATELY SPECTACULAR. Her professionalism from start to finish truly saved our evening. Giuseppe, your legacy is being damaged by Pinot; please recognize that it is dedicated professionals like Bella who uphold the high standards your family has built over the last 35 years."
