This is the second time ordering from Dave's so I feel comfortable making this review. The fries taste like they have been in the freezer for a while. My second time getting them I gaslit myself into thinking by the time we got home they got cold but they were freezing. The chicken is alright, the pictures makes it look better than it actually is. Unfortunately we also ordered an Oreo shake that came with a hair so that was thrown away right away. If you are waiting quick food that doesn't have much flavor/to cure a hangover I suggest this. Otherwise if you want good tenders and fries I recommend going somewhere else. The service is pretty quick (said ready in 10 minutes when ordered) and probably the reason why the food was cold/mediocre. The staff is excellent. I don't remember the name of the man at the front who took my order but he was so so helpful, patient, and friendly. The cooks offered me a friendly smiles too! The staff seemed nice and the place looked decent, but since I ordered to go, I didn't really get much of the dine-in experience. As for the food, it was just okay. The chicken had some flavor, but it wasn't anything special or memorable. The spice levels are definitely what make it stand out, and the Reaper Challenge was actually pretty fun to try if you like testing your limits. I am upset that we didn't take any photos. We ordered this to go and the drive back home was about 15-20 minutes. When I say the food was still hot and the chicken had a crunch to it. Don't get me wrong, this place packs some heat. I went my middle eastern buddy and found out that this place actually only serves halal chicken which was a fun surprise. This specific restaurant attracts a very young "college crowd" which isn't bad or anything, just unique. The parking situation is not the best and you'll have to pay for parking there on top of everything. The prices are a little expensive but the portions are huge. I ordered their reaper 2 slider meal and it was a little over twenty bucks. They made me sign a waiver which was printed on receipt paper and I thought that was pretty funny. I love spicy food so taking down these two massive sliders was not a problem. Wish they had a wall of photos or t-shirt for people who completed the highest spice level. First time having Dave's in Colorado. My youngest & I have been to the Artesia CA location previously and loved it. This time it was my oldest son's first ever experience with Dave's. Dave's in Highland definitely came through...it was really good!! We ordered the 2 slider combo...both hot, and 2 Al's carte tenders, 1 medium & 1 hot. The hot had a good amount of spice for sure, but wasn't so much so that it overpowered or distracted from the overall taste/flavor experience. Or at least that's what my boys told me...I was the "whimp" who had the medium tender...and loved every bit of it as well! The French fries were hot, crispy & well seasoned. The side of Dave's sauce compliments the fries so well, as it did the sliders & tenders. The kale slaw was great & love the pickles!! Food was great as always, nothing to complaint about there. I did have to wait for about 40 minutes to receive my order on a relatively slow Wednesday evening, felt a little excessive but it's wtv. Bottom Line: I went to a handful of local and commercial restaurants during my very first visit to Denver this past weekend. This fast food restaurant was THE best restaurant my brother and I had dined at. Would definitely recommend. Atmosphere: A bit dark, relies on natural light. Tables are spaced out, very spacious and comfortable, although many tables were dirty. I think they could clean the tables more often. Food: In Atlanta, we have Hatty B's. In Denver, they have Dave's Hot Chicken. I was told that Dave's was better, but I haven't had Hatty B's in a while so I won't compare them. What I will say is that the food here was great. I got the Dave's #4 Meal: 1 Slider W/ Fries, Extra Hot. I think I could have handled The Reaper, but the Extra Hot was the perfect level of spice for me to still enjoy my meal. The chicken was served hot and fresh. Seasoned fries were alright. The Dave's Sauce reminded me a bit of Zax Sauce from Zaxby's(a fried chicken fast food chain on the east side of the US if you guys don't have that in Denver), but it was still great. Great service! But food was about a 6.5/10 on flavor. Sliders had a solid potato type bun but honestly bigger than the typical slider, so 2 is quite a bit of food. I ordered hot and it wasn't really that spicy. The flavor was a little one dimensional and didn't really have that addictive component I was looking for. Really cool little spot, great vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - and a pickup window outside for online orders it looked like. The workers there all seemed kind and treated us well in the brief interaction we had with them, ordering is easy because the menu is truly pretty simple. The food came out fast, and it was super tasty! We ordered the hot chicken tender and slider, and an extra side of Mac and cheese. I have a high heat tolerance and the hot definitely had a good kick to it, if you're sensitive I would suggest ordering a milder spice level! The kale slaw in the slider complimented it so well! Ordered food delivery from here- never tried it so it was my first time and my experience is not in the restaurant itself. I got the 2 chicken tenders with fries (i added cheese). There were also two pieces of "toast" and pickles in addition to this. The tenders were good, crunchy, and juicy on the inside. I got the medium spice level-which wasn't spicy at all, in my opinion. So next time I'll probably go for a higher spice level. I was excited to have added cheese sauce to my fries, but there wasn't a ton of cheese and didn't do anything special to them. I enjoyed mostly everything in the box-except for the white "toast". The white bread wasn't amazing, didn't taste like anything, and didn't feel like it was actually toasted (but again I got this delivered, not fresh in person). Would not recommend having the toast, personally. Regardless, I would like to try this place again-probably a sandwich instead of a higher spice level.
