    9. General Tso's Chicken
    Joshua L.

I came here based on many recommendations from over a year ago and should have paid more attention to the current ratings. We came on a Friday around 6pm and were the only patrons until just before 7:30pm. The decor was plain and nondescript but definitely didn't hint of your normal (even lower-scale) Asian restaurants. The biggest things of note were the fake flowers displayed in vases of water (!?!), and multiple wall hangings about lemonade (yet my son was served a can of lemonade and a cup of ice). We ordered four dishes and an appetizer (most of which were my son's choice). The crab cheese wontons were not properly sealed (as shown in the photos), and the filling was dried out because of that. At first I thought they tasted funny because they were saturated with oil, but then realized the weird flavor was from the sweet and sour sauce. Next we received sesame chicken and orange chicken (the only way to differentiate the two was that one had fried noodles and sesame seeds on it and the other one had dried red peppers and orange peels). Flavor-wise they were identical unless you chewed a piece of the dried orange peel with the chicken. After that we received what we were told was sesame chicken again (but was General Tso's) and looked identical to the other two except it was served with a bit of broccoli. It also tasted exactly like the other two with the addition of a bit of vinegar. Lastly I received my Mapo Tofu. This has always been my go to order at Chinese restaurants...even those not listing it on their menus. This one tasted slightly sweet, but otherwise lacked depth, seasoning, spice, and proper flavor profiles just like everything else we tried. Overall we were less than impressed. My son said next time he wanted me to buy the frozen Harts or Innovasian brand and cook that for him instead. And I doubt I will even eat the leftover Mapo Tofu unless I add a whole bunch of flavor and spice to it. Pretty disappointed, especially with a $90 price tag.

Dating Yummy fans, the store will be closed permanently on Tuesday 7/9. Hope you can get in there once more! We like their pork soup dumplings. Service is always fast and professional. The restaurant is very clean and has good seating area.

Another just decent Asian joint that I don't have very many exciting things to write about. The sign had "Sushi cakes" in it which spurred my interest but all I got was: it belonged to the previous owner. Sigh, the Xiao Long Bao is definitely frozen and steamed to order. The dumplings are probably made in house but folks, presentation is sometimes important too. Scallion pancakes are ok, not the best I've had and the sushi... well after looking at a friend's order, I'll just say it's not somewhere I'd order sushi from. Sorry, I just can't recommend this place.

Near perfect hot and sour soup!

Finding a place that serves near perfect hot and sour soup is somewhat difficult these days. I enjoy the MSG laden version with all the flavoring. Dating Yummy does an excellent job with it! The soup comes out hot AND flavorful. I ordered the chili wontons and also scallion pancakes as well. I would pass on the chili wontons next time. They were good but for some reason it just didn't strike a chord with me. The scallion pancakes needed to be cooked a bit longer but I would definitely order those again. My overall experience was great. Super fast service and down to earth waitstaff. The Chinese television shows were fun to watch. I never really followed any shows but it was nice to hear one of the languages I grew up with that made the experience far more familiar than anything. I would certainly return for many reasons. The food is definitely the reason but the entire experience was just really good. I'll be back!

Very tasty food that came out hot and fresh. Large portions and decent prices. Waitress was friendly and did a great job. Added on a nicely sized sushi roll for only 3 dollars more with the purchase of an entrée. The twice cooked pork tasted amazing and the soup dumplings were delectable. The sushi was also very tasty. Overall I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant in Aurora.

There is a new owner here, we thought there is no small soup dumplings, but they told me that they just changed the name to MINI PORK BAO, well, they have updated a lot of new dishes. This is really spicy, I like it too much, the new chef is very good at using chili. It reminds me of a restaurant I once ate in Atlanta!

So far this place has the best soup dumplings I've found in Colorado. The hot & sour soup was also really good. I also tried the chili oil pork dumplings & the pan fried pork dumplings which were good- 4 star quality. Ultimately, I would absolutely come back for the soup dumplings & beyond that I would try some other options on their menu. I was happy with my experience here, the place is a nice clean Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. The service was good, overall no complaints. If you come I would definitely recommend the soup dumplings. Happy eating!!

He surprised me with wanting Asian food so we headed here. He remembered the soup dumplings but I wanted him to try the pork wontons in red chili sauce so we ordered that. He went with the kung pao beef and I chose the salt and pepper prawns. Comes with white rice. The pork wontons were delish! I like the sauce in rice so I saved the bowl once we ate the dumplings. The kung pao beef was not bad. Lots of peanuts which I ate. :) : Salt and pepper prawns are never fried crispy enough for me but I like prawns so I guess I'll keep ordering them. Friendly and polite service but she was a little overwhelmed with the number of customers. Clean restaurant and lots of parking in the shared lot.

This place was a decent place to grab a quick bite. We came at an off hour and it wasn't too busy. The staff were very attentive and super friendly! 5/5 for service The food was okay. I thought that the dumplings were a little bland and the sauces that they had were just okay. The vinegar tasted watered down and the chili oil was just okay. Probably just not my preferred taste, but worth a try!

GET THE SOUP DUMPLINGS. They are amazing. And the sauces that come with it are a must. Definitely coming back here just for those dumplings again. We also had the mapo tofu, which was good but nothing crazy special. A lot of other items on the menu I want to try. I'm excited about coming back!

    Xiao long bao (soup dumplings)

Best Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) in Denver! I tried this spot out last night, I love that they are open until 9:30 for late night eats. The service was great, although it wasn't too busy. There are a lot of tables in a casual atmosphere. Everything I had was delicious. We got Xiao long bao, fried pork buns, Mapo tofu, and small egg drop soup and hot and sour soup (soup not pictured). The soup tasted super fresh. Definitely come here for the dumplings and buns! The soup dumplings were juicy and came with a side of pickled ginger. The pork buns had an awesome, homemade dough. Everything tasted really fresh. This is my first time trying Mapo tofu. I didn't realize there is a Szechuan peppercorn that tingles your mouth and numbs your tongue as you eat. The Szechuan peppercorn tastes like a clove. Mapo tofu is an experience in itself. If you've never tried, definitely get this!! Overall, this is a great place to have a casual dinner with friends or a loved one. The food is really tasty and prices are reasonable. I would recommend ordering all of the dumplings and buns, and ordering one or two entrées to split. I'll totally be back!

Takeout Review. About thirty minutes away from Dating Yumy we decided to order take out which was ready when we got there. The packaging was neat and thoughtful for those driving home with food. With an online order of $25 or more you get a free order of crab cheese wontons. I'm always in for free food! I like that they aren't skimpy on the filling like some other places. Pork Soup Dumplings. Not the best I've had, but were still good. There was plenty of filling, but not a lot of gushing soup. And the dough was quite thick and chewy. Kung Pao Chicken. A hit for sure. The heat level wasn't unbearably spicy, but it had a nice kick. Really flavorful with a good amount of tasty veggies. Chicken Lo Mein. A huge portion that my sister heavely enjoyed and ate for the whole day. Great choice for take out!

While I still don't know if this restaurant is called Dating Yummy or Dating Yumy, this is easily some of the best Chinese food in the area. There aren't many places to get soup dumplings in Denver, and this is one of them. Their vegetable dishes are among the best in the city, and they do all the classics, like lo mein and sesame chicken, just right. Whoever Yummy or Yumy is, she makes some mean Chinese food, and we'd all be lucky to date her.

I am so glad that they are so consistent and have not changed recipes or adjusted seasonings. Ordered our two favorites - pickled pepper beef and mapo tofu. Then the string beans and a new dish - sauerkraut fish filet. The sauerkraut fish filet reminded me of the Vietnamese catfish soup but no sweetness added. Very good dish and will def order again. Also love that they have quality rice here.

We ordered the fried tofu (with peppers and onions), orange chicken, fried fish fillet, and veggie delight (mixed veggies). The fried fish fillet was definitely the standout. Perfectly crispy on the outside with a light, tangy layer of sauce that added flavor without making it soggy. Easily my favorite dish of the meal. The fried tofu was also really solid and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The peppers and onions complemented it well without overpowering the tofu itself. The orange chicken was okay. I tend to compare orange chicken to Panda Express (probably unfair, but it's my benchmark), and this one didn't quite hit that same balance of crispiness and sauce. I think if it had a bit more meat within each piece, would be better. The mixed vegetables were decent but not something I'd order again. They felt a bit drenched in sauce and didn't have much depth in flavor. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting an elderly woman who helps out when it gets busy. She mentioned she was the former owner. She was incredibly kind, and we ended up having a really nice conversation in Mandarin. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable. Otherwise, really nice venue with lots of space and tables. Waiters always refilled my water, which is a good plus. Also gave me fresh rice when I took the leftovers to go. Overall, a solid meal with a couple standout dishes. I'd definitely come back for the fried fish fillet and tofu. Will be back to try their other dishes.

And the beef chow fun was some of the best that I have had in CO. I don't know. There was something about it where it had enough sauce cooked in the noodles but also a good quantity of meat as well. It wasn't overpowered by onions like a lot of places do. For desserts, I tried the ube tiramisu and the pandan coconut cake. Both were very tasty and they're not too sweet which is code for Asian approval on sweets. Service is friendly and food comes quick. It is a small restaurant tucked in a corner so WiFi is nonexistent.
