There were several referrals to Rossmann Repair Group. I contacted them through their online contact form. They immediately messaged with a few more questions and then gave me the necessary details to send my device to them in Austin. I did so - of course, the holidays slowed things down a bit, but by the second week in January, I received word that my lap top had been successfully repaired, losing NONE of my data. Amazing! The cost? A mere $459 which includes shipping back (USPS) to me, signing at delivery. I did have go pay for shipping to get it to them. Totally worth it to me. To insure safe and speedy delivery, signing upon delivery, to them. I paid about $89 for UPS, not including double boxing and bubble wrap. So, in total, I paid $638, for shipping to, repair, shipping back. I didn't lose ANY of my data. I am sooo happy and thankful to Rossmann Repair Group. Thank you!!!

After about 5 minutes he came back stating the power rail was broken, but I did not proceed with the repair, as the cost of repair was more than the value of the laptop. The quote was half of Apple's quote and came with a guarantee if that I will not pay if they can't successfully fix it. This is miles better than the Apple store as they would make you wait over 15 minutes even though you had an appointment just for the "genius" to say you need to quote an $800 logic board replacement. On May 14th of 2026 my sister and I took my computer over to Jason's Computer Repair, on May 25th Jason sent me a text saying my hard drive was failing, that I needed a new one and the cost would be $499.00, he said someone else would charge me thousands (I am repeating what is on the text from Jason) I said okay to the $499.00 plus tax and I waited and I waited, he said he had to order the new hard drive, so I waited and waited. On June 2nd Jason said he had the new hard drive and needed another day or 2, On June 9th Jason said I could pick up my computer and I did. The next day my computer crashed again. So I decided to purchase a new computer and when the tech came to my home to set up my new computer, he asked where is your old hard drive, I said Jason Computer Repair didn't give it back to me. I text Jason I would like my old hard drive back, he lied and said he gave it to me the day I picked up my computer that I must have lost it. I said no you did not give it back to me. I was getting nowhere with Jason so I took my original old computer that Jason said he put in a new hard drive in to A computer Engineer in Austin, What they found inside was an old hard drive, older than my old computer (there was no new hard drive and he did not download my old info onto the old drive he installed. The computer Engineer gave me the proof of the older hard drive and they could not recover any of my data, there was nothing. So I gave Jason another chance and asked him if he would look around to see if he could find my old hard drive and he lied and still insisted he gave it to me. I have no idea what he did with my original hard drive or who has all my old info. Now I am experiencing stolen identity. My Amazon Prime account stolen, I have had to report all my credit cards stolen...it is a nightmare. All my info with user names and passwords were on that original old hard drive, My social security info, my medicare info, etc. etc.....I do not know for sure if Jason sold my info but it is sure crazy that he will not return my original hard drive....Did he put in someone else's computer ? Did he sell my info ? I don't know for sure what has happened to my original old hard drive, all I know is that Jason was the last person to have it and is lying about giving it back to me. I ask how someone can do this and I just don't know unless he is selling info for money? All I know for sure are is that we trusted Jason and took my computer to him on May 14th, I picked up only my computer on June 9th, Jason refuses to return my original hard drive, he did not replace with a new hard drive and charged me for it. My initial horror deepened at finding the extra Apple iCloud space I was paying for did not include my laptop data. Thanks to some online advice, I searched for a local Mac recovery specialist instead of taking it into an Apple Store, and found MacTronics, with high ratings and glowing reviews. On their next open day I spoke with Terri on the phone, who gave me the quote for their diagnostic fee (very reasonable). I brought the laptop in that day and left it, having agreed that my primary concern was recovery of the data. A little later that day, Terri called to say the tech found the data was recoverable and would need a backup drive; Terri walked me through finding an inexpensive one on Amazon, delivered directly to them the following day. She also provided the estimate for that work, which included the amount of the initial fee. (Still super reasonable, since I was worried I'd have to buy a new laptop!) Meanwhile, the tech would continue to work on cleaning up the laptop insides, keyboard and trackpad. Terri called the next day to let me know they had received the drive and the tech was backing up my data. The following day she called to say it was ready for me to pick up. She detailed the work that had been done, providing screen shots showing all hardware tests passed. She also said some keys and the trackpad had some residual stickiness, but were still usable. The tech said it was not cost effective to replace the keyboard and trackpad, but did show the cost if I wanted to. His recommendation if the stickiness was too bothersome was to use an inexpensive external keyboard. He also set up Time Machine on the backup drive and had done two backups. Terri walked me through everything he had done and showed me how to use the drive, recommending backups every week or two weeks. Then I made sure my data was being backed up to the cloud. I contacted SDR Service as I accidentally deleted some files off an SSD. I was then contacted by a different representative where we went through the same conversation to which they said they would do a "more invasive scan of the drive" to recover any data. They then proceeded to tell me it would be $1200 for the data they recovered. I cannot afford this as I am a single person business and told them to send the drive back. They asked what I could afford and accepted $500 for the data recovery. This part was great. At least I was able to get some data recovered. However, the drive that they sent back no longer boots ups. I STILL HAD DATA ON THAT DRIVE THAT WAS NOT DELETED THAT I NEED !!!!! I can no longer access any of my other business files that were not affected by my earlier mistake. I have attempted to contact them twice now over the last two weeks and they will not email or call me back despite speaking with a representative that says they will. Since they recovered some of the data I asked for that is great but since they have decided to not answer why I can no longer access the rest of my data they get a this review. I took my Dell Latitude to Secure Data Recovery after it crashed and another repair company said…read morethat the laptop was not worth repairing and that they could not recover any data from the hard-drive. Data recovery costs are fairly high from any company, but Secure Data Recover does have different pricing based on urgency. I went with the slowest, and least costly. Fortunately, all my data was recovered. After my laptop was returned, I found out that the motherboard on my laptop had failed and was likely the root cause of my issues. It is possible that I could have simply replaced the motherboard and been able to recover the drive and my data without professional recovery costs.
