So I think it would be nice to extend a little professional courtesy when answering an inquiry. Here was my question: Do you guys do phones? I have an iPhone 6 that I dropped in the sink by accident. What would this cost? I don't think I'd be willing to spend more than $100 or $200 Here was the response: "sorry we don't work on phones" Being turned away without any explanation seems unprofessional. Data Doctors on Via LInda in Scottsdale came through for me again. HP laptop would not shut down nor would it reboot and start again. He took care of a similar situation in January when it was stuck in hibernation mode. This time, after "fiddling" with it for maybe 10 minutes, he went to settings and set me up for this to turn off with all the desired settings. I don't have to think about this any more. No charge. We have used this company before. This time however there were some incompetent mistakes. First off they changed the computers name from our last name to my husband's first name, which they misspelled. Then 2 screws were not put back on our cover. After being jerked around by Best Buy's "Geek Squad" I ended up going to Data Doctors (SE corner of FLW & Thompson Peak next to the Water Store) who I now highly recommend. The Geek Squad apparently couldn't handle the extremely complex swap out of a simple fan (note the sarcasm) but the Data Doctors got it done in 2 hours. What's funny is that Geek Squad said it COULDN'T BE DONE. Well, I guess they were wrong. Data Doctors got it done on the same day. They swapped out the fan in 2 hours without a single issue. Yes they do charge more than Geek Squad. I guess you get what you pay for. Also, there is no waiting time at Data Doctors. You walk in and someone is helping you almost immediately. read more

Took my laptop (my baby and the basis of my livelihood) here in a hurry to deal with potential water inside. They said they were going to open it up, gave me a $150 invoice, and sent me on my way. When I pressed for timing and expectation, they were dismissive and did not seem to grasp any sense of urgency.. informing me that it was basically closing time so there wasn't much they could do. I called another local shop that was open later, they were friendly and transparent, only charged me $50 to take a look, and opened it up right in front of me. I was hesitant to go into here after reading a review of another location...however, now that I have been in 2x for 2 different laptops, I can say I was pleased with their service. They were nice and honest. The first issue I had turned out to be a corruption on my hard drive - they told me an estimate of what it would cost and I decided to purchase a new one...so no charge there. My new laptop received an error so that I could not log on...so took it there for help. Jeremy gave it a look and took about 15 minutes to determine the problem (created a new profile, deleted the old one), fixed it for me with no charge....hopefully I won't need them anytime soon, but appreciated the fix very much!! read more

This is now the second time we have turned to Steve at Data Doctors. Most recently, I was frustrated after unsuccessfully pursuing several avenues to retrieve files from a ZipDrive. I asked if Data Doctors could help. I didn't have the correct drive for the disc, and they have been out of use for a couple decades. Fortunately, Steve was able to help. I got the files transferred to an easy to use thumb drive in less than a day. Being as how they are files from nearly 20 years ago I was grateful for access to them. I have used Data Dr's twice now. The first time I had a random power down situation with my desktop that they fixed in a couple of days by installing a new power supply. Got talking to Dustin when I was picking it up about an external storage drive that was non functional. He suggested bringing it in and seeing what they could do. Did that a few days later. Dustin called me to let me know they could not do anything at the store but their Recovery Lab may be able to help. Expensive. Was going to leave it but was reminded by my wife that all our family pictures since 2004 were on that drive. Called Dustin and asked him to send it to the lab. Bear in mind this was right around Xmas so everyone was busy. He sent it, they recovered 100% of the data from the dead drive and my wife was ecstatic. Christmas went very well. To sum up..... I am not someone who writes a lot of reviews. A place will have to be either pretty bad or just terrific and Data Doctors was just that - Terrific!! They were able to get my crappy old laptop back up and running better than ever. Also, they tweaked it a little more a few days later and things got even better (at no additional cost). They could not have been better to work with. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have only one criticism. Both guys there talk faster than anybody I have ever heard and I seriously only got about 60% of what they said. That aside, they do really good work and are trustworthy. I have brought 3 different computers here over the past three years and I have received nothing but EXCELLENT service from Steve and Kristin. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, extremely honest and and extremely professional. This last time, I had him upgrade my computer and increase the memory for a very, very reasonable price (which I was quoted upfront). I think his maximum labor fee is around $200, but I'm not sure. Each of the three times I have used Steve, his fees have been extremely reasonable and his service has been stellar. I used to bring my computers to one of the big box stores and each and every time, I would have to bring it back because something wasn't fixed. I realized this was the case because they used students or people without proper knowledge/experience working with computers. Now that I have found Steve and Kristin (and followed them to their new location by FLW and Via Linda) I would never go anywhere else. Steve stands behind his work and fixes it right the first time. I was referred to this Data Doctors location by a friend. I have referred a few people here as well and each has had a positive experience. read more
