So, my experience with these guys was a total accident. I wasn't expecting to need their services but I'm not only super happy with the results of the end-products, I'm also very relieved they were the ones to holistically take on my project. I was putting together a new computer build for school. The component list was completely high-end and involved an AIO (all in one) water cooling solution with a 360mm radiator and an AIO water cooled graphics card with a 120mm radiator. In addition, I had two M.2 drives with custom EK heat sinks and an NZXT "i' series case with their smart hub for fan and lighting control along with several other custom parts. I was recently diagnosed with a form of bone cancer and underestimated how badly the treatments I've been receiving would effect my fine motor control and ended up bricking a Gigabyte AORUS motherboard by dropping my CPU and crushing several pins. At that point I was feeling pretty dejected and wasn't sure if I would be able to put my computer together without damaging some VERY expensive hardware components. I was seriously upset with myself, mad at the totality of the circumstances surrounding the situation, and generally upset. I had seen Extreme Micro a few times in my intermittent goings to the Japanese food place in which they occupy the same plaza and figured I'd stop in to see if they offered a build service. I met Grant, the guy who is their usual customer contact for product and services, and was also affectionately and distantly barked at by Odin (their shop dog who hangs out in the back of the shop - this has nothing to do with my project experience but made my happy because I'm a big dog person) as I walked inside. Grant informed me they were more than capable of handling my build and provided a cost structure and possible time frame for project completion. I dropped off the components within the next few hours. There were a few hiccups along the way (because I had some faulty RAM and was missing a cable the factory forgot to package along with my CPU AIO) but both Grant and Scott (their principal system builder) kept me informed of what was going on so that I could swap out the parts necessary to give Scott what he needed to finish the project. They have a really cool email ticket correspondence system that they update with major project milestones and use it if they need to reach out to a customer. I thought it was helpful to watch my email for updates and to keep apprised of what was happening with my build. Due to the complexity of my system and the hardware hiccups (that were unfortunately normal RMA issues in the PC world and had nothing to do with Scott or the Extreme Micro guys) it took about a week to get the call that my computer was completed. In the realm of PC building this is actually pretty remarkable but they're used to pushing out projects much faster. All in all the technician hours that went into my build totaled enough to make compilation labor quite expensive (like they could have charged me several hundreds of dollars and probably should have) but instead honored the price that Grant quoted for me as an estimate when I first dropped off my parts. THAT is amazing. Back to my computer; it turned out INSANE. And the best type of insane I've ever experienced in the full technological tenure of my life. Like full PC Master Race insane. Scott is not only a cable management god but he also installed windows and all my drivers, conducted any and all updates and made sure the platform was stable and ready to go before releasing it to me. My experience was obviously the above: from a pile of high end components, my shattered ego, and pent of frustrations of not being able to handle my build myself, to being surprised by the nicest looking computer build I've ever been lucky enough to own and I can genuinely say it wouldn't have turned out this well if I did it myself. And with all the technical hiccups that occurred I probably would have ended up conducting a similar google search to pay them to troubleshoot the errors I probably would have made anyway. I seriously couldn't be happier with my experience with Extreme Micro or the product I received. If for some reason you've made it to the end of this review, don't think twice about giving them a call and procuring ANY of their IT services. They can handle anything from data recovery and system optimization to managing IT for companies of several hundred employees. And they're all really good people. And Odin. Thanks, Extreme Micro. read more

See all

I have taken three laptops to these folks and my expectations been exceeded each time. My favorite thing about this shop is, the work is done in the building, not shipped out like Best Buy might do. I recieve regular updates via email regarding the progress. These folks really know thier stuff and I am sure the prices are much less than Geek squad would charge along with outstanding service. A recent 97 dollat rehab on my 8 yearold laptop saved me a few hundred dollars on a new unit and my toshiba runs like new. read more

The owner made good on my phone cable issues from my last review. He actually gave me better cables than I had ordered so I feel pretty satisfied about the experience now. I'm glad we got it figured out and now I have the chargers I needed. I don't have an computer related experience to share as I just bought phone cables.... read more

Called Scott in a panic, as our dinosaur Dell 400 Vostro would not power up. Explained to him what the symptoms were and he knew immediately that our extinct but vital animal needed a new power supply and instructed me to come down. Got there, he took it immediately and 25 minutes and $66 later, we were saved. We are small family business that HAD to have this machine. Scott saved us and we will never use anyone else to help us out. He and Amy were courteous, fast and honest! Thanks guys! Amy read more

I've been using extreme for Few years and have purchased over 16 computers and mabe 20 monitors. Last week I authorized them to upgrade two computers I recently purchased there a little over 2 yrs and needed to be upgraded resolve my issue and resolve the problems and come back upgraded and fully functional and they came back and had the same condition as when they took them! grant said 500.00 each 1000.00 As Scott is no longer with the company. I said only if you can do it quit! A week later got them running?? Stupid there excuse was special order parts and they did not have the administrative passwords? I am a national franchise of 28 years. Our point of sale techs in Florida IT people said the computer people always know them! And extreme micro is the only company I use and buy computers from. They came up with a 6hr bill to find the Administrative password extreme wants to bill me an additional which was not authorized! Later Russ the owner emails my wife for a bill of 10.7 hours at $1065.00? Work not Authorized and or scope! Never coming back I would not Recommend this company or any other company to use them. read more

these guys rock! They gave me a great price for upgrading my MacBook..which was running sooo slow, they did the work in a matter of minutes..well about 2 hours and I never had to be without my Mac, they did the work while I was at work and I got to pick it up right after. Their new email notification system works really well. I love my Macbook again! read more

I have to agree with a reviewer a few posts down...these guys are like having great car mechanics that you can always trust but for your computers. We've had two Macs repaired and upgraded for very reasonable amounts of money and the service and quality has been outstanding. This last go-around, we had to recover all the files on an old Mac laptop that died (in the laptop's defense, it was 10 years old...and we weren't good about backing everything up). But David Ruiz worked his Apple Wizard Magic and was not only able to restore ALL our files, he was also for a few more bucks able to upgrade the machine so that we can use it for another few years at least. It runs faster now than it did when we bought it 10 years ago. Hooray, we didn't have to go out and buy a new machine! Not to mention the atmosphere of this shop: down-to-earth, friendly, small. All work is done in-house. FYI: my husband's company (big one in Phoenix) uses these guys and would like to keep their great, efficient work to themselves but I'm telling everyone...if you have a problem with your Mac, go to them. They will solve your problem for less than what you'd expect to pay, and the quality will be outstanding. read more

Took a 2012 MacBook Pro to consider selling it online and they convinced me to upgrade it. So glad I did bc it's now in tip-top shape, Dave and the crew rly know their stuff and were v accommodating (they've even a cool correspondence system in place to stay in touch w/ u as they make repairs). Great, timely service, great team. Definitely see them w/ repair issues, they're affordable and convenient! read more

Couldn't be happier with the service! My PC is a necessity for day to day life as a student with a heavy emphasis in online classes. My hard drive failed one day into the semester and the guys at extreme had me up and running the next morning. Prices were fair, service was quick and quality was top notch! I would absolutely recommend them for any computing needs. They were knowledgeable and willing to help. read more

You know how it's the most relieving thing to find an auto mechanic that you know you can absolutely trust without a doubt? That's what these guys are, but for computer mechanic work. Super honest, knowledgeable, and creative problem solvers that are never looking to make a quick buck off labor or unnecessary upgrades. These guys truly will have your back. I spent an hour chatting with the owner Russ last time I was there. Friendliest guy. And Dave, their Apple wizard, found a creative way to fix my dead MacBook Pro after we all thought it was a lost cause. If you have a computer issue, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND at least coming in to talk to these guys about it and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed! read more

They made my old, virus riddled computer work great again. And their prices are fair as long as you know what you want. Don't be talked into anything you don't want to pay for. Great service at a competitive price. I am happy. read more

Love these guys. Grant always makes me feel like the only customer in the room. I brought my computer to Extreme yesterday morning and it was repaired by the end of the day. David is a rock star in repair. I had a crashed system last year and he completely restored it for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Fixed a laptop screen kept us informed the whole time with frequent updates and at a great price

If you're looking for help with your custom built PC, this is the place to go. I'm a moderately experienced PC builder, but occasionally I run into problem's I haven't seen and after hours of digging through forums without luck I gave these guys a call. I told them my problem over the phone and they were able to help me diagnose my RAM issue almost immediately, and offered to help me test it if I brought my computer in, which they did for free. These guys are knowledgeable and forthcoming with advice on how to address issues you might have with your custom build. I look forward to working with them in the future. They also have a lot of experience working on Macs, so if you have one that's out of warranty take it to these guys rather than the apple store, you will have a great experience. read more

Took my Mac here to get fixed and Dave did an outstanding job. Unbelievable customer service, good prices, and very friendly and reliable people. Would recommend this place to anybody any day of the Genius Bar at Apple. read more

These guys are phenomenal. I walked in with a bad power supply that was not even made anymore. Instead of trying to sell me a new enclosure they took 15 minutes to research, offer a couple solutions and in the end suggest I try $4 worth of adapters to make a similar one work. It worked and I saved hundreds of dollars. Customer service like this is rare these days, especially in computer / PC repair. read more

Came here with a gaming PC that had issues booting consistently and would often crash when playing games. I took the PC to Fry's and wasted $70 after they misdiagnosed the problem. David and Mike at Extreme Micro fixed my issue for a better price and ran many tests to ensure that it would not return. Everyone here is very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. read more

Helpful when they are not busy. Always willing to help you get your PC up and going and suggestions for upgrades are always useful tips for the tech's. read more

I am the owner of an IT consulting company that has been assisting small businesses in the Valley since 1997 and found Extreme Micro in 2007. I have been using them exclusively for system builds, parts, and sometimes service ever since. Their prices are extremely competitive, their customer service is top-notch, and if I ever have a warranty issue, they replace the faulty part lickety-split. I have used other local businesses for systems and parts in the past and had issues with timely customer service, consistency, and the availability of parts...this has never been an issue with Extreme. I have ordered hundreds of workstations, laptops, and servers from them over the years and have never once had a major issue. I have also recommended them to several clients to order systems directly, and they have never been disappointed. I can't speak highly enough of their customer service and quality. I must be right, considering the fact that every time I am in their store, there are other IT consultants and service providers in there as well. If the pros like us go there, they must be doing something right. read more
