I contacted Dash on the 12th, and they made it out to me on the 19th because of an emergency job, which happens, so that's no problem. The good: they took down my old ceiling fan and replaced it with a ceiling light and a dimmer in good time, two guys, very nice and helpful. The not as good: though I explained that I had a ceiling fan in my text, David was surprised to see it. Also, the scheduling was a little wonky, not getting a time estimate till the day of, and though I asked for a dimmer switch in Almond, when they showed up, he forgot that I wanted a dimmer switch at all and only had one in White. Overall, I'm happy with their job, but details are not guaranteed, even though you've texted, in my experience with them, so make sure before they show up that you detail exactly what you want. I accepted the white dimmer, so that's on me . The job was 5 Star, but the communication was 3 Star, so I went with 4. read more

I had a kitchen GFI Circuit that wouldn't reset! I called Dash. David and another tech arrived in less than an hour! It wasn't the GFI. A short had occurred in the main service box. The short was severe enough to melt the plastic insulator on the charging bar. David rebuilt the entire service; new insulation, circuit breakers, cleaned the box, cut and reattached all wiring! Our bathroom fan had an automatic humidity sensor that would turn on the fan. This stopped working and I reached out to a few companies to troubleshoot this. I had a circuit breaker that would not reset. I called Austin Electric and they sent me to Dash. Red flag! I should have found an electrician on my own. Dash is not what I would consider a budget conscious electrician. I ended up paying $3,125 to replace some circuit breakers and outlets. I asked Dash when they finished for a breakdown as far as materials and labor. I am still waiting. I checked with 2 other electricians and they told me the materials should have been under $1000. That would mean I paid $2,125 for 90 minutes of labor! My second mistake was not saying no when David asked about doing additional work after he had taken it apart which doubled the estimate. I found Dash Electric on Yelp and saw that they had 5 stars, so I invited them out to our new house to tackle a laundry list of electrical projects that my wife and I wanted completed before we move into our new home. Among other things, we wanted them to: Install a 240V/60A line for our new hot tub (pretty long run from the power box), connect the line to the hot tub, replace a dangerous 1970s era electrical panel that the inspector noted was a fire risk, and install a plethora of outlets for our new patio and in our game room (6 in total). David was extremely responsive when I reached out to him and gave me an accurate estimate from the beginning. The project ended up exceeding the original estimate, but only because he notified me that the ground for our box had to be upgraded, and also because I asked him to install a TV mount with one of the outlets. David was transparent and kept me involved throughout the entire process, which I really appreciate. Finally, the work was top notch. Wow. They really live up to their name - - Dash! My husband contacted them on Yelp after midnight and got a reply from David when the sun came up. Literally got a call back within seconds of giving the requested contact info and we're given a low over-the-phone estimate for a nema 14-50 install. We were expecting to have them come by for an estimate in a few days but were pleasantly surprised they were able to squeeze us in same day. They were able to send JR and they said they could do the install in about an hour so we jumped at it and got it done right then and there. It was such an awesome price, we were able to get 2 nema plugs installed. The main one inside the garage, using the Hubell 14-50 we ordered ourselves (and literally arrived mid-install... As I said, we really weren't expecting to get this all done that day... ) & one outside with a nema plug they brought themselves... And JR went out and bought a lockable weather guard for it. If we'd realized we would get such a great price to get a second one installed we would have ordered another Hubell but the regular one is fine for this one as it's only going to be used for emergencies. While he was there, I asked if he would be able to help us change the porch lights sockets so I can use a smart bulb and that was done same day too (we ran to best buy to grab some bulbs while JR worked) . Everything was all done between 11am-3pm. We contacted other companies but Dash was just so quick with everything that we didn't even get a quote from other companies (some contacted us later in the day and some said they would have to come out to us another day to do the estimate). So happy with this company and totally recommend them. The work was done quickly but it was done well and professionally. Couldn't be happier. Thanks so much, DASH & JR! We recently had some issues with our power/breakers and went straight to Yelp to look up local spots that could help us. We reached out to (3). All 3 responded (with the Yelp automated message) but Dash was the only one that followed up. They called us within 20-30 minutes. Unfortunately it was later in the day so as we expected, we wouldn't be able to get someone here that day. We scheduled for them to come the next morning. The person calling was very kind and professional. They called the next morning to let me know they'd be here within a certain time. Daniel showed up with another guy (can't recall his name) and I explained the issue. After taking a look, he knew what was wrong and explained to me what the issue was. I don't know the cost of any of these kinds of repairs so I trusted what he told me. He seemed genuine as well. We agreed with the cost and they got started. I want to say it took about 30-40 minutes for them to make the repairs. I checked in a few times and he explained what they were doing very clearly. I appreciated that. Once completed, he let me know again what was done, and also laid it out on an invoice. I was able to pay with a CC. The extra bonus was that this work is covered for 2 years. I love having warranty on things I buy. So 2 years keeps me at ease. After, I did some research and the price I paid was very fair. We are extremely happy with the service we received. This company is highly unprofessional and I would not recommend them to anyone. I work for a property management company, and we contacted Dash Electric to check out one of our properties in which the tenant reported many of the outlets were not working. We contacted this company first because they have a significant number of 5 star reviews and offer FREE estimates. The electrician came out and provided an estimate. We were unable to get approval from the homeowner on the repairs due to the cost being higher than anticipated for the scope of work needed. We eventually went with another company for the needed repairs, at a significantly lower cost. I received a text from the owner of Dash Electric this morning at 7:46am saying "Thanks for wasting my time." (Screenshot attached.) This is incredibly unprofessional. As a property management company, our duty is to ensure maintenance requests from tenants are handled in a timely fashion while also doing so in a cost effective manner to the homeowner. While we regret we weren't able to approve the estimate Dash Electric provided, we were grateful for their time and effort to come take a look and provide the estimate. I don't understand why the owner felt the need to text me that we wasted his time. Whether you are a property manager or homeowner, you reserve the right to shop around and choose the service vendor that best suits your needs and budget. Unfortunately, Dash Electric does not respect that and feels the need to text and belittle you if you do not move forward with their recommended repairs. In discussing the estimate with Dash Electric, my boss had mentioned that we had electrical needs at other properties we were needing assistance on, including larger projects like full panel replacement for at least two other properties. We'll be taking that business elsewhere now. A recommendation to the owner: if your time is truly that valuable that you feel the need to harass anyone who chooses not to proceed with your services, you should consider charging a trip/diagnostic fee instead of offering/promoting free estimates. read more
