Buyer beware! I would give zero stars if I could. I waited to write this review because we were going through the litigation process which unfortunately did not go in our favor, but we had to at least take a stand and advocate for ourselves. It is difficult to win in court when a shoddy job somehow passes a visual inspection. This review is 100% factual and I hope that anyone who chooses to work with Dion and his sons has a better experience than we did. In April of 2023, my husband and I sought out an electrician to rewire our home in preparation for us to rent it out. Our realtor referred Dion, we met, discussed the job, and decided to move forward afterwards because initially he passed himself off as professional and trustworthy. We thought that Dion was going to complete the rewire on his own or with an assistant. However, after we agreed upon a start date, his sons showed up for the job. Based on initial conversations, we anticipated there would be a site survey to determine which wires needed to be replaced before demoing because not all of the wires in the home were old as per a discussion we had with Dion. Prior to starting, Dion told us that he would look in the attic and determine which wires needed to go and would advise us on what he finds. Yet, there would be no site survey. Dion's sons showed up with no tools whatsoever. They used our hammer, broom, vacuum, and who knows what else to demo walls in our home. His sons demoed walls that were not supposed to be demoed, they dismantled our ceiling fans and fire alarms sloppily. They would show up at random times throughout the day and work late into the evening even though I was living in the home. Once, I arrived home to find our tool bag from our shed in the kitchen, crane flies flying around my house, the back door open, and the door to our shed open. They replaced one of our light switches with an outlet for a plug about four feet off the ground. The significance of the site survey came into play because his sons disconnected power to our garage and front porch. The part of our garage that lost power happened to be where our deep freezer was located at the time so we had to toss the food. I put a lamp on our front porch so it wasn't dark in the evening. To his credit, Dion did drive out late one evening to try to restore the power to our garage but ended up having to use a frayed extension cord to supply power to that part of the property. Soon after this debacle, and with the other areas of our home that were damaged during the demo process, Dion wanted his final payment. Dion returned to our home and did quick fixes to get the power up and running. In his haste to complete the already extended job that resulted in us having to push out other projects to get the house ready, we learned the hard way that some of our lines were tied together amongst other things. Our microwave was connected to the master bedroom, refrigerator, and washer/dryer causing it to trip regularly. Our panel was completely mislabeled. I recall seeing a new panel during the process that was supposed to replace our old one, but at some point the old panel with the old labels remained in place. Our fire alarm that dispatched directly to the fire department was never reinstalled and our ceiling fans were not reinstalled correctly resulting in us having to replace them. Our outlets were recessed in the walls so much so that our drywaller could have covered them up without any problems. The inspection process was a joke. The city told me that our house passed inspection and yet the inspector never went to our home. I called the city and informed them that we expected someone on site to inspect the job. Once the inspector came out, he passed the job with a visual inspection only. This shoddy job passed with wires crossed, breakers tripping, our panel mislabeled, and exposed wires in our attic. With the exception of our first meeting, this process was a nightmare and cost us thousands upon thousands of dollars to repair the work performed by him and his sons, lost rental income, and repairs. A job that was quoted for completion in 10 days turned into 30 days. At this point, we lost all confidence in Dion. We ended up hiring an electrician who we should have worked with from the beginning and just moved forward with a thorough and complete job. This crew was professional, punctual, efficient, and kept to the timetable. We have definitely learned from this experience and hopefully he did, too. We would not recommend him to anyone, but if you want to take the risk get every single thing in writing. Once your property passes inspection, good luck on recouping any costs. Pros - The quote was on par with what other electricians quoted - Dion showed up to initial meeting on time and his appearance was professional Cons - See above We do not want anyone to experience what we had to endure. DO NOT USE!!! Needed to replace three light switches with smart ones. Unfortunately they could not finish the job. They did not call before arriving...just showed up at random time. Spent 3 hours trying but in the process they dirtied the wall, broke a switch cover, installed switches incorrectly & left me with less function than before. The process is what concerned me the most...they were not careful & did not seemed to be interested in my input that could have saved them time & help them do a better job. Noticed that owner may do some work or has a crew do it. All I can say is that crew lacks training & guidance and so there is a high chance of issues. I've hired Dion to work on 4 different occasions in my house. He installed ceiling fans in the bedrooms at different times, an intricate chandelier with retractable fan blades in the family room, and a complex chandelier in the entry way which required rewiring and separating the power from 3 receding light fixtures. In that process he worked in the attic to determine if where i wanted to new pitches to be was feasible. It was not. And he recommended an alternative location which made sense.
