I never give bad reviews because, I normally like to recommend good restaurants rather than give negative reviews on places I didn't like. Unfortunately, the food at this place was so bad that I thought I should warn others against eating there. I've been to this restaurant many times in the past and hadn't been there in about a year. I'm not sure if the owners have changed but, not only is the food horrible, the prices have possibly doubled. I was there with a friend this past Sunday and we have both been very ill since. We literally felt sick the second we stepped out of the restaurant. The meat quality is so bad I think we got food poisoning. Also, we asked for more bread during our meal and then later when we got the bill, saw that they charged us $5 for it. Completely crazy for any mediterranean style restaurant! From the outside I didn't know what to expect but like when you walk in, they have a cute girl at the counter and her parents on the main front desk. So for sure this place is like a higher end type of place. The dining room had really good looking table setups like it was supposed to be a setting for a wedding. The artwork was a bunch of ghetto looking Armenians from their home country, they all looked sad in the paintings. The service was pretty slow though even though the dining room was pretty empty. I can't understand the menu so I just ordered the filet mignon kebobs which came with some long yellow and white rice and tomato/chili peppers. It was all right you know, only complaints were the burnt bottom sides of all the meat and some were kind of bland. The complimentary bread was good though like a really soft pizza crust. We was going to order a salad afterwards but nah we didn't want to wait like another 20 minutes lol. read more

OK,! So this restaurant Darya is known for their fantastic persian food. My folks come here all the time. They know my folks at this restaurant. Usually when we go in the service is AAA. Well today did not go that way at all. Today my folks decided Darya's food would be great for dinner. Well my mom called in an order (for Sally) and I went to pick it up today. Wow, what a bummer that was. Stood there for 10 minutes and 3 employees walk by me and not one word. After stepping in the dining room (twice), some idiot with a major attitude apparently came up to ring up a check...didn't even look up at me when he was speaking to me asked me if i had been helped and i said no. Still not even glancing up told me very rudely that some one will help me soon. Then this lady with the fakest smile took my credit card and while running my card in front of me stood there with this idiot and starting talking about me in whatever language. Folks one thing about me is if people are very rude and start speaking in another language right in front of you and continue to look at you while still speaking (I believe they are talking crap about you). And to me that is BAD BUSINESS.....Just wanted to let you guys know that no one should tolerate that. read more

I have had many experiences with Darya restaurant and each time they have surpassed my expectations. The food is absolutely AMAZING, the service is extremely friendly & prompt and the staff goes above and beyond each time to make our dining experience regardless if we are a party of 2 or 50 to be memorable and enjoyable. Food was fantastic. I mean really really good. Service was average. My drink didn't get refilled until we were done with our meal and it was all business. No smiles or friendliness. But very nice place. It is much nicer inside than the outside would lead you to believe. It's a bit pricey too. My rating was due to something suspicious that happened with our bill. My mom checked her account and the $79 bill that was signed for was charged for $85. My mom called and they were great about reversing the charges. The explanation was that the server thought the $79 looked like $85. Maybe it was an honest mistake, maybe not. My moms writing is pretty clear though. They rectified it but all I have to say is watch for this if you use a credit/atm card. Or better yet take cash. read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. The server messed up with my husband's order and he refused to correct it. When we asked for the manager he also refused saying that to get it corrected we have to pay for a new order. They were cold and unfriendly- made it seem like the customer should be serving them. Just had a Birthday dinner at Darya in Orange and can't understand why there were so few people there, even though our dinner started at 7pm on a Monday...Food was excellent. Filet dish was extremely tender and tasty as were the other meat dishes. Service was very good, all of the dishes were either very good or good. Will definitely go again. read more

I'm not really a fan of persian food (or at least that's what I've discovered) but I will say that this place is... okay. Upon entering, the interior is decorated to look mildy high class with gold trimmings and what not. You feel a bit regal, so that's always nice. I ordered the filet minon kabob, which I was expecting to steak ahhhmaaaazing but it was mediocre. I guess I just didn't enjoy the flavoring. The rice, like most people have raved about already was actually quite delicious. I never got the concept of the grilled tomato just because I think grilled fruits are gross. After our meal we ordered baklava and some other dessert. I felt the both of them were extremely sweet, I needed to down a couple waters to retain my sanity. I don't want to knock them down for my food preference especially when my whole family thoroughly enjoyed their meals, but I'm not the biggest fan. I think if you've had persian food before you should try it, my parents really liked this place. read more

I was one of the people that was under the impression that Darya at South Coast and Darya in Orange were affiliated, but they are not. The other Darya is okay, which is the reason why I never tried the one in Orange. I was in the mood for Persian food and did not to go back to the Saffron Grill after the last meal I had there was so overdone. I decided to give this Darya a try. It was in fact the hostess to told me that the two Darya's are not affiliated, but she also told me the food was better in Orange. I replied, of course you are going to say that, but she insisted and informed me that she used to work at the one at South Coast. I ordered the koobideh and was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was telling the truth. The koobideh was very good. Juicy and flavorful. I will have to try the chicken next time. It's a very nice and elegant restaurant and not quite as pretentious as the other Darya. The service is friendly and honest and not quite as expensive either. read more

I had a certificate that was just about to expire and I was told that no worries, I could come in within few days and they will still honor it.. I was told, "we're on your side"..
