Soooooooo good. I love coming here when I'm craving ramen. The food comes out in a good amount of time. Service is always friendly. The place is large to host big families and such. When I come in it's busy so it's good to know that it's a popular place.
I came to this restaurant after spending all day at the hospital across the street for my daughter so I was hungry and emotionally drained. When I walked in, I was promptly directed to where I should go so I could place a takeout order. The genuine courtesy of the staff here was just what I needed after a long day. Lots of great options for sushi but ramen sounded amazing on a chilly winter day. I ordered a couple options and requested for the toppings to be separated so my picky eater could pick out what she didn't like. The food was out promptly and packaged with such care. Once I got it back to my daughter's hospital room, we were able to feast on the best meal we had all day. I will definitely be coming back to this place again and I am grateful for their kindness just when I needed it. Highly recommend!
I have to be honest here. I only recently started trying Ramen. I don't know why, but I always told myself that I didn't like it. Anyway, this was only the second time I've ever eaten restaurant Ramen. The first time was so-so. And I was eager to see how much better it could be. So my wife started to do a little research and found that Daruma had really good reviews. So we gave it a shot. I have to say that I was very impressed with my Ramen. It was galaxy's better than the first one I tried. I can't wait to try a different one next time. Aside from the wonderful food. The staff there was really nice. They greeted us right away and quickly got us seated. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. The dining area was pretty clean and inviting too!
The service is very good. I had important questions that were promptly answered. The ambience is casual. The music is pop. Very upbeat. Jalapeño Jalapeños Pop Roll. Vegas Roll. Very good presentation.
Visiting Arizona and was liking for some Japanese food. Looked on Yelp and found Daruma, which had really good reviews. The menu is pretty extensive and everything sounded so good. The prices were pretty reasonable as well! Well, it's been raining pretty hard, so I was wanting some ramen to warm me up. We also got chicken karaage curry, 4 kind of sushi rolls (Sunset, Rainbow, crispy rice, and Dynamite) and a mixed tempura appetizer. Yes, we were hungry, lol! Everything arrived pretty quickly! Tasting everything, we noted that the fish in the sushi rolls were of really good quality, no fishy taste at all. The tempura had a variety of shrimp, tsai, sweet potato, onion, green beans, and zucchini, very good! The curry was very tasty, and the ramen (Miso Butter) really hit the spot. The broth was really good, and had a nice mix of ramen egg, corn, bean sprouts, green onion and chashu. The service was great! Our servers were super nice and efficient. If we lived here, we would be back again and again!
Our friends recently spotted this spot, so we decided to give it a try. We went all in on ramen, some ordered the Mayu Tonkotsu, with a rich, garlicky pork broth that was comforting but a bit heavy; a few of us tried the Sapporo Miso Butter, which had a creamy, slightly sweet miso flavor with a subtle buttery finish. A couple of us turned our meals into combos with either Tempura or a California Roll. The tempura was light and crisp, though the California Roll was pretty standard. We also shared the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, and topped with just enough heat from the spicy tuna to make it interesting. Flavor wise, everything was decent, but nothing truly wowed us. A downside, the dishes were pretty salty, and we all ended up really thirsty afterward. Overall, it's a convenient spot if you're nearby, but nothing here made us feel like we have to come back.
Food was so yummy here and filling. The ramen I got had the richest broth and the pork was juicy and tender. Loved everything about this it, I don't normally finish soups quickly, but this ramen was easy to finish for me. The california roll was good. Service was top tier, making sure our food came quickly and that we got our check ready when we needed it. The style of the restaurant is low-key and private for dine-in.
I caught the happy hour and it was AMAZING!! all the sushi was super fresh and the service was quick. My server was Sissy and she was so kind and accommodating, I ordered my food and in like 8 minutes it was already out on the table!! My go to is always a Las Vegas roll which had the perfect amount of crunch and the green garnish was a nice touch! The happy hour is definitely worth and the ambiance in the restaurant is so peaceful and zen--I went on a solo lunch date and had a great time!
A very solid Japanese restaurant with good sushi and ramen. Everything was great and portions were solid, but I wouldn't say it blew me away. The prices were reasonable and service was good. The layout of the restaurant was a little oddly spaced.
I've never had ramen before this place and boy ramen has become my favorite soups! They have a great happy hour. Highly recommend adding chicken kaarage to ramen
I will only give Daruma a 3 because while they have GF option on noodles, the Tonkotsu broth is just meh. Broth is not creamy to my liking. It is just more the soy sauce and garlic flavor.
This was a decent bowl of ramen and satisfied my craving, but I wouldn't say it blew my mind. The chasu was tender, the egg was cooked pretty well, and the ratios of other toppings were good. The broth definitely wasn't bad but it wasn't as rich or creamy as I think tonkotsu should be. The gyoza was also standard for a casual Japanese restaurant. The restaurant was spacious and clean, and the service was very quick, which worked well for trying to catch a flight after. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but would revisit if I was in the area and wanting some quick Japanese food!

AMAZING sushi. The fish was high quality and so were the other ingredients. I have a shellfish allergy, but they were happy to accommodate and make a custom roll just for me. I was especially impressed by the to-go containers. read more

The food was not bad for AZ standards. Sunset roll and Hungry Man roll were delicious. Can't go wrong with rolls usually. Takoyaki was not bad. Obviously not the best texture, octopus inside was tiny and my husband's takoyaki did not even have any octopus inside. One order comes with four small balls of takoyaki. Miso Ramen was not bad either. We've had better. The soup was not as hot as I personally prefer. The flavor would have been better if the soup was hotter. The ramen noodles were also stuck together at the bottom. Makes me think, how long have they cooked the noodle and let it sit until the the next order came through. I'm guessing that was also the reason why the soup's temperature dropped so much. We also ordered sashimi platter. Sashimi pieces were not as large as other places. We mentioned to the server about our yellowtail pieces still having frozen parts... she was very kind to bring us two pieces of Eel sashimi, and those tasted great! Thank you for the kind and generous service! We also checked in and received free iced green tea which were delicious. I wish I could take it to go. Couldn't finish it because of its possible caffeine content. The chicken karage was good actually! It came out as the last dish. Not sure why that took longer to cook/prep. Good thing is it tasted yummy! Service, as I mentioned briefly, was great. All servers seemed quite informative of what we've ordered although only one of them took our order. They were polite, friendly and respectful. read more

Thank you for choosing Daruma for your family outing and for taking…
I think this place absolutely earns the 4.5 rating they have here. I waffled on giving them a 5 star- I did receive 5 star service. Atlas, I'm from California & have eaten at mind blowing Michelin starred sushi restaurants. Did I get mind blowing sushi here/ ramen here, no. However, the food (Sushi rolls & Ramen) was significantly better than most places I've tried in Valley! I've actually been disappointed in the sushi here- so much so we haven't been going out to get it (After multiple failed attempts). With that said the ramen and sushi here was really good. This place would still be above average by California standards. The Dobson roll was my favorite, I would order it again. The Black Tonkanatsu & the sunset roll were also good but I'd try something different on the next visit. The portion size on the rolls are above average, they definitely give you solid cuts of fish. Everything was fresh, the people are super nice- I would put this one on the list. Recommended, happy eating!! read more

I am always on a quest to find the best ramen spots in town and Daruma did not disappoint! I came right at opening for lunch and was greeted immediately by the friendly staff. The interior is very minimalistic and extremely clean (even the restrooms) with K-pop blasting in the background. Great array of Japanese starters, sushi and ramen on the menu. Of course, I came here for the ramen and ordered the Mayu Tonkotsu Ramen, Takoyaki, and the Hungry Man Roll. My orders came out quickly and tasted phenomenal. You can tell the chefs put effort into crafting each dish that comes out that kitchen. The Takoyaki here is as good as the ones I had in Osaka, it was warm, savory and seafoody. The Hungry Man Roll could have been more spicier from the spicy tuna but nonetheless the flavors were on point with thick cuts of fish on top. The star of the show was the ramen, the ingredients fused well together with a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg and tender slices of pork. Ramen is 100% more enjoyable when the broth is hot and it was still steaming after I finished the bowl. First time customer here and it sure won't be my last. Daruma just earned a loyal fan! read more

Ok, I haven't had the food yet, but so far, this review is for the service! Stopped by on a whim craving ramen! I clearly had the "I have no idea what any of these words mean!" Look on my face. James noticed right away and offered to help with any questions. He was amazing! He took the time to ask what I was looking for, and showed me the menu, explained the contents and differences of each, to help me make a decision on what to order. He made me feel like I was getting a custom order and he was thrilled to help! What an amazing experience so far! I'm optimistic that the food will taste as wonderful as it smells and as good as all of the reviews promised!! I'll update after eating it! UPDATE: the food was as amazing as the service! I had the miso ramen and my kiddo had udon. Also the Gyoga. 10/10!!! Thank you, James!! read more

Amazing to hear that you consider us to be the best ramen in Mesa!…
Wow oh wow this restaurant was amazing!! Thanks for the recommendation, Yelp! We stopped by on a late Sunday afternoon. We were promptly greeted, seated and brought waters and tea. My husband and I shared the Mayo Tonkotsu Ramen. It was phenomenal! I wish we were local so we could make this part of our weekly routine. Prices were reasonable, but the attentive staff and delicious food would make anyone order the entire menu! Hoping to visit the area again so we can come back here in the future. read more

In my search for amazing Ramen in Phoenix I think I found it here. The ramen here is to die for. That broth is so smooth. I loved it. The noodles were al dente. The pork was smoky and tender. I can't fault this place at all. It was the closest thing to perfect ramen I've found here. I will most definitely come back here for more and so should you. read more

The staff is so helpful and friendly. Everything we ate was of excellent quality and delicious flavors. I could tell everything was made in the traditional Japanese style of care and details. I will definitely come back! Our favorite was the Las Vegas roll. We also had the sunset, hungry man, seaweed salad and steamed gyoza. read more

Have now been here twice and it is on the top 3 of ramen spots to try! I order the MAYU TONKOTSU RAMEN spice level 5 (love my spice) and never regret it. The broth is key here as it is very flavorful and you can taste the many hours of preparing the broths. I would definitely recommend! read more

Yummmmm! My new go-to ramen spot. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen with a level 2 spice. So flavorful and level 2 was a good amount of spice for me. Portion size is great as well. We also ordered a few basic rolls, they came out fairly quickly. They were great as well. Service is good, waters refilled every time. Friendly service as well. 10/10 would recommend! read more

This is the best ramen place in the area. There are other good places but this is the best without question. The broth is always extremely good. Get the tonkotsu if you want something very rich, the miso butter for something rich but not too heavy. Spice level made to your liking. I never leave a single drop of broth I eat it all. The appetizers like takoyaki are also delicious, perfect texture and balance. There is never a long wait either. Service is great. read more

Excellent service right off the bat! I ordered the sushi rolls and the waiter gave me some gluten free soy sauce, due to my sensitivity. The sushi was fresh and good value. My friends ordered the ramen and loved it! Their menu consists of more sushi than ramen. They offer specialty rolls with sauce or just regular rolls without, glad they had different options. During lunch time on a Saturday, the ambiance is warm and relaxed. Parking easy. Highly recommend for sushi or a hot bowl of ramen. read more

I don't live around the Mesa area and normally come to Dobson Square Asiana market for another local business next to Daruma that I been going to for years. I seen Daruma had opened one day and was interested in trying it due to the advertisement of sushi. It has been really hard to find a good sushi location so I decided to give them a try. I have ordered from them twice so far (to go) and have not been disappointed! First the presentation of their to-go boxes are not like I have seen at other restaurants and I really liked the design of them. Secondly the taste and quality of the sushi was amazing. Ive tried the Vegas roll, shrimp tempura roll, and crunch roll. I believe I have found my new sushi spot. I want to venture out and try some more menu options and possibly take the time to sit down one of these days but so far I have seen only good things. Whenever I take my trip down to the Asiana market plaza Daruma will always be an added stop. read more

Absolutely loved the food! Dropped by for dinner. The hostess was very nice got us seated real quick. We had the chicken strips, rainbow roll, and spicy tonkatsu ramen level 3.5. The fish on the roll was fresh. Chicken strip were decent but the dip was amazing. Next, the ramen, the broth was killer, such a nice balance of flavor and an aftertaste of pork and some smokiness. The katsu was delicate and flavourful. The noodles were peferfectly cooked blending so well the caramelized onions. Will be going back again. Our hostess took really good care of us. read more

Happy happy happy dance!! Hadn't had sushi in a hot minute, so we decided to try this place. The sushi was so good, and the rolls are big!! Usually hubs and I will split 4 rolls and we struggled to finish 3. So much food for a very reasonable price, and lots of options! Seriously it's some of the best sushi I've had in a while. And if you check in on Yelp, you get a free green tea! We will be back!! read more

It was almost lunch time and I was craving sushi, but because the day was just being a witch I knew I wasn't going to be able to get out and pick something up so I grabbed my Yelp app to see what I could get delivered and found Daruma by Rie. After checking out the menu I knew what I wanted! I ordered a fire roll and a California roll. I wasn't expected anything fancy for a delivered lunch, but Daruma definitely steps it up! Everything was perfect packaged and had plenty of sauces, wasabi and fresh ginger too. The California rolls where the normal roll, crab, avocado and cucumber and yes I know it's the basic of suish rolls, but I love it and this was just what I was craving. Fire rolls where delsih! It was spicy krab and spicy tuna and avocado wrapped in rice and topped with a spicy sauce and fresh sliced jalapenos. So dang good! If you haven't been go give them a try! read more

Solid sushi/ramen option in the Tempe area. Good value cheap sushi. I recommend the sunset roll and the spicy tuna over rice. If you're looking for sushi that fills you up, this may be the place for you because they load up on rice. Personally, it is too much rice for me. Black mayu tonkotsu ramen noodles were good and cooked perfectly. Ramen broth was flavorful but not thick and creamy like normal tonkotsu broth. Tables were spaced out and staff wore masks. Friendly and prompt service. read more
