Darkness Brewing has a really fun, laid-back vibe. I tried the Razz Ciderboys and loved it. It's definitely on the sweeter side. When you arrive, you walk in and order at the bar. There are menus you can grab there. If you get food you get a buzzer that will vibrate and pick up your food at the truck outside. They've got a dog-friendly outdoor space, which is always a win. Also appreciated that they offer canned soft drinks for just $1.75. Nice option if you're not drinking. The food truck was a highlight. The burger was cooked perfectly on a fluffy bun, and the fries were well-seasoned without being overpowering. Only downside, the $6 salad was pretty underwhelming. I'd skip that next time. read more

The first thing you notice is the smell. It isn't a pleasant one, and I love the smell of brewed beer. Can't quit place what it is or describe it. If you enjoy friendly service, or even pleasant service, this place isn't for you. They'll drop off the menu, but won't be around to take your order. The bar tender will begrudgingly ask what you want to drink, but will give you the wrong beer and won't be back to ask how everything is. read more

Probably one of my favorite places to come and drink as a WHOLE family. I love that they are dog friendly on the patio so when it's nice outside, it's the perfect place. There is no food served inside, but there is a food truck outside that is open during the summer months and certain other important events. The beer changes often with new and different beers that are brewed. We have been many different days and every time the bartenders are so nice and helpful when we want to try different beers! During holidays and summer they sometimes have art nights and other fun events held there which are really cool to see. I also saw something for yoga inside on sunday mornings which could be a cool thing to check out. A very cool little brewery in Bellevue, KY. Good beers, friendly server (hubs and he swapped stories of Northern California), and good food. Also - lots of outdoor seating which was perfect in this sunny not too hot day. You order at the bar (drinks and food). Take your drink with you. Darkness Brewery is indented into Fairfield street in Bellevue, KY. Tucked into this quaint town is my kind of brewery. It usually has heartier dark beers! They have their own food truck parked out front and I have posted pics to see the menus. My friend and I tasted the Xmas Moo selection of 4 milk stouts on tap for this season. Chocolate, chocolate with cherry, chocolate with caramel and chocolate with mint. Yum. Nice smooth dark beer with nice scents of each addition. What a fun local spot to grab a brew! I haven't spent much time in Bellevue, but after an afternoon at Darkness, I definitely plan to change that. There's plenty of outdoor seating available, which was fantastic since we had a four-legged friend with us. My fiancé sat outside with our doggo, while I ventured inside to order us a few beers. They definitely take the "darkness" theme seriously here. There's not much lighting when you walk in, and the decor is fun and eclectic. You almost get a dive bar vibe - but it's a bit more welcoming than that. There was a decent crowd in line for drinks, but with two bartenders, they moved through patrons quickly. We started with their Amber Ale (named something like Barley's Comet) and their "Explore," which was an orangey-ice cream flavored beer. The Amber Ale had a lot of depth, and made us crave fall-like weather. The Explore was a little milky for my taste, but you would definitely say that the "ice cream" comes through. We also ordered glasses of their "Marigold" and "Uncle Pucker." The Marigold was light and summery - the Uncle Pucker definitely packed a sour punch. I loved that Darkness had several dog bowls available to grab next to their water station. On a decently humid day, I know our pup appreciated this. You also can't beat the prices for craft beer here - at around $5 a brew, there's not much to complain about. We'll definitely return to Darkness again soon, and can't wait to sample even more of their interesting concoctions. read more

Such a fun stop! This brewery was close to where we were staying so we swung in for a pre dinner beverage, and it has such a cool atmosphere. The art on the walls is so unique and the patio is lovely on a nice day! Their beer selection has something for everyone, and the names are too fun to pass up. They have many offerings for their own beer but if you like one you better go back soon or it may not be there when you show up next. They had a beer like I've never had before.....it tasted like an Old Fashion. It was delicious. They also have a food truck that offers different burgers each month. Was finally able to visit the bar right down from my house. I have been holding off so many bars due to COVID but Darkness Brewing offers outdoor seating and tasty drinks so I had to join the fun. They have several festive options for you and the crew. They even partnered with Newport Pizza, available for delivery with your drinks. I ordered the Triple Jam Cider and my partner ordered the Blumpkin. Also, the owners are courteous and overly-nice (not a complaint) and the small-business owner dynamic really shines through. Always a good time whenever we pop in here. I'm not a huge fan of darker brews, but they do also have lighter options on tap whatever your taste preferences! Friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating options, and a food truck permanently parked outside. Funky and fun art both painted on the walls and available for purchase on canvases hung throughout. I was super impressed with Darkness Brewing! The name alone drew me to this place. We walked it in and really love the cozy and laid back feel. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and really liked the beer selections that we wanted to try the flight. What I liked about our service was the bartender was very friendly. She was detailed with explaining the contents of each beer. What we tried: Marigold golden ale Centennial anomaly black session ale Man on the moo milk stout The great mangolio mango jerk ale Red sheeran experimental hoppy red ale Wow! I loved the the great mangolio mango jerk ale and the man on the moo milk stout! Both great quality and as described. The jerk ale had a spicy and sweet finish. The milk stout had a great chocolate and coffee taste. I loved their logo that I wanted to purchase a growler but they were out. Gives me a good reason to come back because I enjoyed all the beers. We were going to try Braxton but this name came up on our quick search of Northern Kentucky breweries and we gave it a go instead because we're little goth kids, and we were very glad we did. The space was moderately small, but decorated about like you'd expect from the name. I think it being Halloween just made it more awesome. The staff was friendly and engaging. I was a bit worried about the beers as I'd heard they were known for tart beers, which I'm not a huge fan of, but you know what- everything was awesome. I'm a bit hit or miss with stouts, but theirs were very good, their ales were a delight, and we are eager to venture back and see what selection they have in future. When a food truck is out front, Darkness Brewery is hidden from the street. Interior is on the smaller side. Decor reminded me of the 90s. It has a very alternative rock, but we respect classic rock, and we like Star Wars feel. There is a mix of bar seating, table, picnic tables, and booths to choose from. Smoking is permitted at the outdoor tables. If breweries with board games are your thing, Darkness has many to choose from. They even have a box of Lego if you are inspired to create. People under the age of 21 are allowed in until 9pm. A few snacks foods are available. At the time of our visit, pretzels and cupcakes were available for purchase. We tried the cupcakes. They are made by the bakery across the street. The chocolate one is made with Darkness beer. Both the salted caramel and chocolate cupcakes were enjoyable. The cake itself was moist and fluffy. Frosting was dense, but not so thick that it was pastey. I liked that it wasn't super sweet. The beer wasn't really my thing. To my surprise, the exception was the rye beer. Not something I normally would order. My husband on the other hand enjoyed all but one of the 8 selections he tried. Several classes such as paint and sip and yoga are available. read more

Our last visit fell upon their anniversary weekend so the place was jam packed with people. That being said, the beer was easy to get and they were well stocked with bar tenders. Their beers tend to be of the darker variety, hence the name, so they are the type of beers we prefer. I can't recall my favorite of the night so you're going to have to go there and have a flight or a taste to find yours. Hungry? Check their facebook page as there is usually a food truck serving stomach filling grub. Parking is usually available on the street nearby or one of the side streets. If you're planning on really hitting the beer, get a friend or lyft/uber and save yourself the hassle of parking as well as a DUI. I believe the patio at least is dog friendly so in light of Ohio's recent brew ha ha at Listermann's, feel free to bring your pooch and down some pints. I might go on record and state this is the best brewery in the northern Kentucky area, but I have limited exposure and need to do more research, wink wink. read more

Pretty cool spot. Out of the way for us; this was a stop on the Bircus Brew bus. Glad they lead us here. Small place very unique. The staff were all very friendly. If you're not a beer drinker this is not really the place for you- they do have soda and an amazing cider. Not their cider though- It's Cider Boys. As far as food, they have their own food truck right out front. Cold or rainy? Doesn't matter, the staff will go out and order for you and bring it in for you. We got the grilled cheese and fries for $5 bucks. Simple grilled cheese, nothing fancy but that's refreshing; they're not trying to re-invent the wheel here. Keepin it simple. The brewery has games so you can hang out, have some drinks and play some games. The decor is really cool, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. Funky decor inside and a nice size patio outside make for an enjoyable afternoon stop. This is a nice brewery regarding their building and atmosphere. The beer however was not for me. I tried a flight of four of the most likely I would like. None were that good. I don't know if it is that too many breweries just don't have a good brew meister or that they try to outdo each other in "styles " of beer. Or perhaps my taste for IPAs and porters is outdated. I first started drinking micro brews, as they were called then, in the late 80s. I loved the Pacific NW style IPAs. Now the alleged same thing is meh. I hardly ever judge a brewery by its beer, mostly because I know nothing about beer other than what I think is gross and what is tolerable. My friend and I split the Groupon for a flight each and a pint glass with coozy to take home. I liked that they had cider here as an option, and I actually really liked the spicy pineapple beer! The owners/bartenders were incredibly nice and happily subbed either a pint of beer or another pint glass for the growlers that were out of stock. The ambience is really nice and calming, unlike a lot of other breweries in the area. I hope they become more and more successful, but I kind of liked how it wasn't packed with people. Parking was easy and finding a seat for our group wasn't bad. Their pint glasses and logo design are beautiful, and I would have bought one even if I didn't have the Groupon. read more
