I went to Darbster for brunch this Sunday, and once again, they did not disappoint! As someone who loves vegan food, I can honestly say Darbster remains one of my favorite spots. I visit about once a month, and every time I'm grateful to see they're still going strong. This visit, I ordered the breakfast burrito, the crispy chicken sandwich, and for dessert, the tres leches cake. Everything was delicious, but the real star of the meal was the crispy chicken sandwich. Their homemade vegan chicken is absolutely incredible--so much so that I wish they would sell it by itself because I would definitely buy it! The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. I always choose to sit outside, where you can hear the water and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Even though the restaurant isn't far from the road, it still feels relaxing and secluded. The scenery is beautiful during the day, and it's especially charming in the evening. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I've never had a bad experience here, and that's rare these days. Between the amazing food, beautiful environment, and consistently great service, Darbster continues to be one of the best vegan restaurants around. After years of thinking about this place, we finally tried it. We have a friend who is a vegetarian and we went here for her birthday. Everything was fabulous! As part of their Happy Hour special, I had the Asian cauliflower wings and palm cakes. Both were delicious! Ordering off the regular menu, my husband had the Wellington wrapped in phyllo dough. I had to taste it and admit it was good. The birthday girl had the pear & Gorgonzola salad, which is always a safe bet. Another girl had the nachos, said it was delicious and ate the whole plate. Some of the desserts at the table were the hummingbird cake, raw snickers pie & brownie. All were delicious! The servers were friendly and accommodating. The talent of the female singer guitarist was phenomenal and the service was excellent! The place also had a nice outdoor ambiance as well as indoor ambiance. As someone who is an animal lover I was super impressed with their charity work that they are involved in. I took my Dad who is not a vegan but was impressed with how delicious the vegan food is. I knew it would be but if I can convince my 85 year old Dad to try something new anything is possible. My Dad really loved the place and the food and we both left with full bellies. This beautiful oasis in West Palm Beach is so worth it! I only drove thirty minutes for dinner and would probably drive two hours to dine here. Definitely my new fav vegan spot in WPB. I love supporting 100% vegan restaurants and wanted to see what the Darbster buzz was about. They surpassed my expectations. This restaurant created a foundation that helps spay and neuter dogs and cats (among other animal advocacy efforts). Dining here helps those animals and of course restauranteurs, chefs, and employees that fight the good fight for animals. We came here early because it is small and we didn't have reservations. Popped inside just before they opened at 5 on a Thursday and were greeted by Abbott (who would later become our outstanding guide for the evening). He said I can sit you now and I'll be right with you. Seating options are inside or out. Inside consists of a few barstools and a handful of tables. Nice and air conditioned. Outside is on the patio, cobblestone area (where we selected), and a spill over into the parking lot. Every seat is a good one in that backyard oasis. It's lush with plants, string lights, umbrellas, and a view of the inlet or waterway. You are shaded and protected. The vibe is kind and chill. We loved hearing reggae versions of Wallflowers and Chris Isaak. Live music started at 6 which was a wonderful guitarist playing on the patio. Happy hour is 5-7 and gets you 2 for 1 wine or beer. The food menu is extensive. Having planned our visit here, we picked out some must try items prior. No judging as there was a lot ordered: mushroom sliders, lemon fennel soup, chickn wings, Caesar salad, beef Wellington, lasagna, and tres leches. Everything was beautifully plated, generously portioned, fresh and flavorful. The wings were maybe my least favorite because they tasted like Beyond (whether they were or not). I like a less chicken nugget style and more seitan or chickwheat style wing. That's personal preference. Again, everything was really delicious! Abbott perfectly timed all that food to come out with ease. No waiting. No multiple dish pile ups. He kept us hydrated. Very genuine and kind individual. Grateful he helped us. Prices are really reasonable and fair. They don't gouge for vegan dishes like some neighboring places do. They could, but they don't. Parking lot fits a number of cars and there's a little free street parking too. Such a gem and I already can't wait to go back! read more

A must-try for every foodie! My husband and I visit the WPB area for concerts at least once a year and Darbster is one we keep going back to because everything we've ordered is so flavorful and filling. Definitely a good date spot! What the chefs here do with food is incredible. You can go comfort food or healthy. The menu has gluten free options too! Service is always on point - prompt and courteous. They have one of the loveliest outdoor patio areas for dining right along the river! At night with the lights the outdoor patio is very romantic. The service was excellent, the food sublime and the atmosphere so very nice. The outdoor patio was lit up for the evening and despite it being a bit chilly ( you know, the one day in Florida) it was very nice. The waitress was great about moving us to a different table and telling us about the specials. I highly recommend this place. I dine with my two vegan daughters (though I am not vegan) and they are always on the search for vegan places with great food and atmosphere. This place was delish! You can tell everything was made with great attention to detail and fresh ingredients. We started with the fried pickles and mushroom sliders which were my happy place. The sauce for the pickles were my favorite and it was plentyyyy to share. The mushrooms on the sliders had this light Crisp to it almost tempura style. There was a paprika sauce underneath that tied it all together. These were my favorite dishes. My date had the chili cheese which I'm not really into that but he said it was filling. The beet tartare I wish had a bit more dimension in flavor - more acidity like ponzu sauce or some spice extra jalapeño. It was just a bit too one note but nonetheless I did really enjoy it. Be careful with the leftovers for beet dye seeped through the takeout container and it was just a mess. That hummingbird cake will put you to sleep so be prepared to take it home. First thing to mention is the quaint atmosphere, inside and out. It is a great environment. Lots of greenery outside and little patios in lush garden settings overlooking the river. Second is the food. It was very good and what you would expect from a vegan restaurant. It was far more than just impossible burgers and fries in that it offered more variety of creations to try. I had the tuna salad on gluten free bread. (Having a menu with GF asterisks is always helpful). Hubby had buffalo chicken wrap with fries. There was a small salad included with mine and the flavors in both our sandwiches were very good. The portions are large so we took home half. We also split dessert, a coconut type of mousse which gave us a light pudding like flavor to end our meal and was tasty. Over all the meal was reasonably priced, with just water to drink around $60, including tip. The only challenge is their tight parking lot but it wasn't hard to get a spot on a Tuesday night. I suspect we'd have to find street parking and on a busier night. The waitress was busy but very attentive and pleasant. Worth returning to for sure. read more

Excellent find by friends of ours. Made an annual excursion to west palm and met friends for dinner. Three of our crew were vegetarians or vegans, I bring the odd man out, so they suggested this wonderful vegan restaurant. Sat outside in a very pretty patio and my lady and I split 3 appetizers-their "chkn" fingers, their mushroom pizza and "sausage" sliders. Everything we ate was delicious. The texture of the chkn was spot on and the Buffalo sauce it came with was perfect. The pizza-you wouldn't have known it was vegan. In fairness, it was more flatbread than pizza but it was fantastic. The sliders were the least memorable part of the meal but that's not to take anything away from them. They were delicious but just not the best this we had. I've said this about many a vegan restaurant-if they do it right than everyone should go-vegan or not. I guarantee you'll love it. read more

I always thoroughly enjoy my meals here. I always try to try something different.... Order off the specials menu. I am not Raw. But 2 visits this month I had the raw soup. Delish! Great on a hot summer day. Always enjoy coming here with friends. Music on the deck is fabulous.... But. It would be better if a little quieter. And! Always tip musicians! And be warned.... Accessible parking is tricky since they park planta where the ramp from your van needs to come out. Sometimes I park on the street. Tonight.... I took up 2 spaces. Although I think another car could have fit in and then I would not have been able to get my ramp out.... As a true "meat and potato's" type of family, we were a bit hesitant to eat at a totally vegan restaurant but what a surprisingly incredible treat and phenomenal dinner we enjoyed! We started with the palm heart appetizer, which was perfectly fried and so flavorful topped with a nice caper remoulade. We also were amazed by the Italian black bean "sausage" sliders with a spicy paprika aioli! The texture of the sausage had me questioning how this could be plant based AND taste so delicious! I loved the bit of spice that was packed inside! Next we thoroughly enjoyed the trio soup with 3 types of mushrooms (Enoki, Shitake, and Oyster). For our main entrees, we shared the Wellington (filo wrapped 'steak' with a celery root puree) and the NY pasta with garlic butter sauce and cashew parmesan. Both exceeded our expectations and had us questioning why we waited so long to dine here! Overall, the restaurant was busy but service was great with the waitress checking in on our food, the dining experience and refilling our beverages. Okay, first of all, we didn't even know this would be a vegan eatery. We were looking for a salad that wasn't the ho-hum of our regular places. Let me be adamant here: There is nothing ho-hum on the entire Darbster menu. I want to live here and order everything on the menu--and I do mean everything. Wowie kazowie. We did get a salad, an amazing pear and cashew gorgonzola with romaine, arugula, sweet lemon-infused walnuts, anjou pears, red onion, and a cashew lemon dressing. Wonderful. We also had the eggplant scallops, marinated in sweet miso with garlic mashed potatoes and baby bok choy. Wow again. This was my introducing back of 2 nightshades (potatoes and eggplant) in my current anti-inflammatory eating plan. Success--no symptoms with these organic, not highly processed foods, sourced from excellent vegan vendors. NO symptoms. Our servers Abbott, backed up by Rachel, were extremely helpful and friendly, and responded to our every wish--like hot chai with coconut milk, followed at dessert time with extra hot water. Speaking of dessert, we had the hummingbird cake, a huge piece of 3-layered spice treasure chocked full of banana, pineapple, pecans, cinnamon, and vanilla cream Cheeze frosting that I assure you will rival any cream cheese frosting you have ever had. I forgot to ask what sweetener they use, but from the raw sugar and Stevia options on the table, I suspect it is a "good" sugar. We will be back to try more of genius Chef Edder's creative cuisine, where I promise you, even if you're a carnivore, you will will be impressed with these flavors and high-quality meals. read more

Such a go-to choice if you are in the West Palm area and want to try a yummy plant based meal. They have nice variety in their menu and have indoor or outdoor seating. If you wonder about the name, the restaurant is named for the owner's dog. For me, that's just one more plus! Have been to Darbster many times, and with different people. The meatless lasagna was delicious, too. The hummingbird cake(I believe that was the name) was incredible. I wish we had ordered a second slice. The ambiance is simple. Our waiter, Andrew, was very helpful and attentive. The host refused to seat us initially, for no apparent reason. We almost left. Enjoyed a very nice meal here with family. It's not the best vegan food I've ever had but it's very solid. They had a "sausage" special and I wish I had tried all of the items with it because it was so good. We tried the appetizer sliders with the sausage and they were delicious they were hard to share. We also tried the fried heart of palm appetizer and they were good but not too different than any fried veggie app I've had. For mains we shared a few items including the bulgar risotto (standard but impressive that it was vegan), a pair salad (solid), and eggplant scallops (favorite). I also tried the gardein "chicken" parm which was tasty and came in a big portion. Spaghetti was fine but just a little blah. Desserts were enormous- shared two big slices of cake: the hummingbird fruit mixture almost carrot cake like thing and the mocha chocolate cake. The latter was thick and tasty and again hard to believe it was vegan. Given the service, prices, portions, and rustic setting, I can understand how this is five stars for some folks. We have patronized this restaurant for over five years and have watched it slowly descend into DO NOT GO THERE. The last visit was at the end of December 2023 and was a disaster.
