My sister and I went to Dar Al-Coffee for the first time this past Saturday to check it out and see what kind of things they had to offer! We've seen people making videos & showing the drinks that they ordered. Everything looks amazing so it was hard to decide on just one, same thing with the foods! I ordered the caramel apple waffle and my sister got the honeycomb bread. We both enjoyed what we got but I have to tell you, don't sleep on the waffle! That was absolutely fantastic, I never really tasted anything like it before and I enjoyed it immensely. It was hard for me to save half of it to take home to share with my family. My sister really enjoyed hers as well and took hers home to share. We both enjoyed our coffees she had the Nutella hot coffee and I had the Yemeni cookie coffee. I'm used to more sweeter coffee but I wasn't mad about it. I should have tried the famous strawberry Dubai coffee one but I didn't, I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. While we were sitting there, we heard about six people order that and it sounded like they knew what they were doing lol! They also have a little glass case with some desserts inside of it, looks like there's some sort of chocolate covered fruits and some Dubai cheesecakes and whatnot, it all looks so good and I'm looking forward to trying some of those things! The decorations & the seating options were nice, loved the contemporary look of the chairs. Although, I think they could use a few more seats. They seem to be quite popular, there were quite a few people coming in and out. There were two ladies working and one gentleman. I'm not sure if he was the owner or not I didn't get a chance to speak to him because they were so busy. But I did get a chance to ask one of the ladies how long they been open and she said it was just a few months. She was very kind and was apologizing to everybody for their wait. The parking lot was kind of small and pushed off to the side of a building off of a busy road. You could probably fit maybe 10 cars there I guess, and also every parking place was filled when we left. It would definitely be exciting to see them move to a bigger location with a bigger parking lot, I feel like they would be getting even more people coming in! Overall I had a great first visit here and I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else new in the future. Step 1 order a coffee drink or even a chai. Step 2 order a croffle (waffle meets croissant) We stopped in for a late Breakfast on a Thursday Morning. I saw a viral tik tok video and had to come make a stop here. Service was great ! Owner is awesome! We loved the pistachio Nutella croffle and strawberry Nutella croffle. Yemen has some yummy coffeehouse offerings. I had seen a new coffeehouse was opening up in Peoria a few months ago and quickly put it on my radar. After life getting busy for awhile, I finally found time during a vacation to pop in with Maria since we haven't had a coffee chat for awhile. We parked on the side of the building where there is a little bit of parking, maybe for up to 10 cars comfortably. We headed inside and were greeted by a very nice, very modern coffeehouse. I wasn't sure what to expect since it was a Yemen-themed restaurant but this place has some modern-day vibes. We were greeted by some friendly baristas. I grabbed my usual americano and for once, I got a pasty to go with it. I originally wanted what I thought was naan bread but turns out it was a beef-filled bread thingy. I said I was looking for more of an easy eating bread item and they pointed out something else on the menu and I said that that was fine. Maria got their Brown Shaken latte and I bought it for her since her birthday was right around the corner. For two drinks and a big pastry thingy, it was around $20. Not too bad, considering my drink was $5 and the other things were around $7. It did take awhile for our drinks to come out. This place was hopping! There were a lot of college kids coming and going during our time there. One group told the baristas that the coffeehouse was trending/going viral on TikTok so maybe that has something to do with the level of business they had going on. My mystery pastry came out first. It was a really soft bread or pastry with cream cheese filling and honey drizzled on top and it was warmed up. While the honey was a bit more than I cared for, the whole thing was absolutely delicious. I would get this again in a heartbeat but ask them to go light on the honey so it wasn't too sweet. The drinks finally came out and the americano was really good at first and then kind of tapered off to decent as I got through it. I took a quick sip of Maria's drink and while we were told it was brown sugar, it may have been a syrup flavoring versus actual brown sugar. It tasted good but tasted a bit like something else. The whole time we were there, the place stayed busy except for like a 3 minute period. It makes me super happy to see a local place get a lot of business. They are what shape and make cities unique. I know all my friends on Snapchat were asking me what the mystery pastry was and they all sounded really interested in checking the place out. I would definitely join them in coming here if they needed a coffee copilot. read more

Great experience trying a new type of coffee! I got the Mafawar and my partner got the cappuccino. The Mafawar took longer than expected because it is made fresh for each cup, which was okay but maybe should be written on the menu (if it's not already there). The Mafawar was a milky and warm spiced drink that was not super heavy on the coffee flavor but was easy to drink and comforting. The cappuccino was also good and made with the special coffee that is unique to Dar Al, so the cappuccino had a warm spiced flavor. We picked up a date cookie -- yum I could eat those daily! Paired perfectly with the coffee. The atmosphere was nice and had space to sit or study even if it was smaller overall. There were maybe two tables and chairs and some window seats. Plus some chairs along the wall. The staff were friendly and inviting and I would go back again if we lived in the area. The reason for 4 stars is because the service was a little slow, or unexpected, since I thought the Mafawar was going to be a type of drip coffee or more quickly made. So the menu could use some clarify, but the staff also could have told me that if I had just asked. read more

I LOVE Dar-Al Coffee. I just moved to Peoria and have been pretty disappointed with the cafes here (WHY is the coffee so unpleasantly acidic just about everywhere???), but Dar-Al Coffee has been the exception. I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I can't weigh in on the sugary half of the menu, but the Yemeni Turkish coffee is my favorite. The lattes are smooth and mild without tasting watery. I tried a croffle for the first time today! Really fantastic crunch and bite on that. The sweet toppings mean I can't finish it in one sitting, but I'm excited to finish it later. Everyone is polite and kind. The interior is swanky and modern. While I don't think I'd be super comfortable sitting in the chairs for extended periods of time (I'm built a little funny), the environment is good. This place is a 20/10! I went on a weekday afternoon and it was very steady busy. Decor is trendy and very clean and there is areas to sit down but if you come with a group of more than four people, it might be a little bit difficult. there is parking on site. I came with a group of four. We tried the coffee with cream, which was excellent the Yemini tea with cream, which was also a very good. The waffles are amazing. I don't even like waffles, but these were fresh, soft, not overly sweet, and delicious. They are made to order. I highly recommend the Nutella pistachio waffle. The prices are on par with any local coffee shop, but for the quality it is definitely worth it. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they explained things well and I hope they do very well here and expand because this coffee shop is truly a treat. I will most certainly be back! The sign is directly on the building so if you're not familiar with the area, you might certainly drive past to the four people in our party did get lost because they passed it up, but please don't pass up the opportunity to go here! I was so excited about this coffee shop the first time I visited there. Unfortunately, the customer service was so bad on my second visit that I decided to update my previous review. I ordered a cup of Dubai chocolate strawberries (very good but a bit expensive at $14.99) along with a cha tea latte. I had ordered a coffee on my last visit but decided to try a tea this time because I love chai and assumed that they would have a good one. What I got instead was a boiling hot cup of what tasted like basic earl grey tea made with hot water and a tea bag. No cardamom flavor, no clove flavor, just a bland cup of gas station-quality hot tea for the low, low price of nearly $8 (!) As soon as I took the first sip, I knew it was not a chai tea and told the employee that I thought she must have given me an earl grey tea by mistake. However, she insisted that it was "Yemeni chai," which she assured me was "very different than other chai teas." While I'll admit I haven't been to Yemen, I have traveled extensively in that same part of the world and have sampled many delicious chai teas during my travels. I again told her that the tea had no cardamon flavor at all and tasted exactly like earl grey, but she just shrugged and walked away. After this encounter, I thought, well, maybe Yemeni chai is different from all the other chai teas in the region and really does taste like earl grey. But, NOPE. As suspected, she was just gaslighting the hell out of me. Per Google, "Yemeni chai, or Adeni chai, tastes rich, strong, and creamy, with dominant flavors of sweet and fragrant spices like cardamom and cloves. It is typically made with black tea, evaporated milk, and a generous amount of sugar, giving it a sweet and bold profile. The spices can also include ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon, creating a complex, aromatic flavor experience." If you are going to run a coffee shop and charge people more than Starbucks does for a beverage, then you REALLY need to get your act together on customer service. In addition, if your employees are going to continue to try to pass off earl grey tea as chai tea, you should at least tell customers your "story" about Yemeni chai in advance so that they don't become irritated enough to write a review like this one when you hand them a subpar cup of earl grey. read more

Fantastic place to bring out of towners and definitely a weekly spot if you live in the area. We've tried nearly all the items on the menu and it's nearly impossible to find a reason not to go! We love the goodies and the drinks. The coffee is 100% legit with a great Yemen style, Adeni chai is fantastic, the croffles are a must and the customer service is always above and beyond to make you feel welcome and special! Amazing coffee and desserts! We had the strawberry cup with pistachio and chocolate cream, the pistachio rose milk cake, and a waffle with chocolate and pistachio (can you tell we like pistachios?!). Each one was better than the last. We will definitely be back!!!! read more

Stopped here recently to try some things. My thoughts: - The interior is bright and clean, very new-looking. Staff was friendly. - Laminated menus might need a little work...unless I misread, I think there were multiple 'Signature Latte' sections with different offerings? And most pastries weren't listed in the menu and weren't labeled/priced in the display. There were TV screens above showing drink choices/prices, but they were a little slow...it's quicker to just look at a menu. - We ordered regular (non-signature) flavored lattes - one hot pistachio, one iced Yemeni cookie (basically Biscoff cookie flavor) - and they were pretty good. They were $6.50, so average price these days. - Pastries were good, but a little pricey. Most, if not all, appear homemade though, and they're good sized so you might get 2+ servings out of them, which would make the price a little more bearable. The location's a little out of the way for us, but I'd go again if I were in the area. I'd give them 4.5*, rounding up to 5*. read more
