I am in love with this place! We went for their Dubai chocolate strawberries and also got a bunch of other treats while we were there! It was a little on the pricier side but I feel like it was SO worth it! I will definitely be coming back!

My sister and I went to Dar Al-Coffee for the first time this past Saturday to check it out and see what kind of things they had to offer! We've seen people making videos & showing the drinks that they ordered. Everything looks amazing so it was hard to decide on just one, same thing with the foods! I ordered the caramel apple waffle and my sister got the honeycomb bread. We both enjoyed what we got but I have to tell you, don't sleep on the waffle! That was absolutely fantastic, I never really tasted anything like it before and I enjoyed it immensely. It was hard for me to save half of it to take home to share with my family. My sister really enjoyed hers as well and took hers home to share. We both enjoyed our coffees she had the Nutella hot coffee and I had the Yemeni cookie coffee. I'm used to more sweeter coffee but I wasn't mad about it. I should have tried the famous strawberry Dubai coffee one but I didn't, I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. While we were sitting there, we heard about six people order that and it sounded like they knew what they were doing lol! They also have a little glass case with some desserts inside of it, looks like there's some sort of chocolate covered fruits and some Dubai cheesecakes and whatnot, it all looks so good and I'm looking forward to trying some of those things! The decorations & the seating options were nice, loved the contemporary look of the chairs. Although, I think they could use a few more seats. They seem to be quite popular, there were quite a few people coming in and out. There were two ladies working and one gentleman. I'm not sure if he was the owner or not I didn't get a chance to speak to him because they were so busy. But I did get a chance to ask one of the ladies how long they been open and she said it was just a few months. She was very kind and was apologizing to everybody for their wait. The parking lot was kind of small and pushed off to the side of a building off of a busy road. You could probably fit maybe 10 cars there I guess, and also every parking place was filled when we left. It would definitely be exciting to see them move to a bigger location with a bigger parking lot, I feel like they would be getting even more people coming in! Overall I had a great first visit here and I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else new in the future. If you haven't made it there yet, get over there so you can try it!

A great local business. The staff are super friendly. Their coffee is really good. Get the Honey comb Bread ( I would say it is a must try). I got the Biscoff Croffle (a bit on the sweeter side, but it is super crunchy). Very good. They also have the Dubai Dar chocolate cup. Definitely, stop by here if you are around Peoria.

Yemen has some yummy coffeehouse offerings. I had seen a new coffeehouse was opening up in Peoria a few months ago and quickly put it on my radar. After life getting busy for awhile, I finally found time during a vacation to pop in with Maria since we haven't had a coffee chat for awhile. We parked on the side of the building where there is a little bit of parking, maybe for up to 10 cars comfortably. We headed inside and were greeted by a very nice, very modern coffeehouse. I wasn't sure what to expect since it was a Yemen-themed restaurant but this place has some modern-day vibes. We were greeted by some friendly baristas. I grabbed my usual americano and for once, I got a pasty to go with it. I originally wanted what I thought was naan bread but turns out it was a beef-filled bread thingy. I said I was looking for more of an easy eating bread item and they pointed out something else on the menu and I said that that was fine. Maria got their Brown Shaken latte and I bought it for her since her birthday was right around the corner. For two drinks and a big pastry thingy, it was around $20. Not too bad, considering my drink was $5 and the other things were around $7. It did take awhile for our drinks to come out. This place was hopping! There were a lot of college kids coming and going during our time there. One group told the baristas that the coffeehouse was trending/going viral on TikTok so maybe that has something to do with the level of business they had going on. My mystery pastry came out first. It was a really soft bread or pastry with cream cheese filling and honey drizzled on top and it was warmed up. While the honey was a bit more than I cared for, the whole thing was absolutely delicious. I would get this again in a heartbeat but ask them to go light on the honey so it wasn't too sweet. The drinks finally came out and the americano was really good at first and then kind of tapered off to decent as I got through it. I took a quick sip of Maria's drink and while we were told it was brown sugar, it may have been a syrup flavoring versus actual brown sugar. It tasted good but tasted a bit like something else. The whole time we were there, the place stayed busy except for like a 3 minute period. It makes me super happy to see a local place get a lot of business. They are what shape and make cities unique. I know all my friends on Snapchat were asking me what the mystery pastry was and they all sounded really interested in checking the place out. I would definitely join them in coming here if they needed a coffee copilot.

Great experience trying a new type of coffee! I got the Mafawar and my partner got the cappuccino. The Mafawar took longer than expected because it is made fresh for each cup, which was okay but maybe should be written on the menu (if it's not already there). The Mafawar was a milky and warm spiced drink that was not super heavy on the coffee flavor but was easy to drink and comforting. The cappuccino was also good and made with the special coffee that is unique to Dar Al, so the cappuccino had a warm spiced flavor. We picked up a date cookie -- yum I could eat those daily! Paired perfectly with the coffee. The atmosphere was nice and had space to sit or study even if it was smaller overall. There were maybe two tables and chairs and some window seats. Plus some chairs along the wall. The staff were friendly and inviting and I would go back again if we lived in the area. The reason for 4 stars is because the service was a little slow, or unexpected, since I thought the Mafawar was going to be a type of drip coffee or more quickly made. So the menu could use some clarify, but the staff also could have told me that if I had just asked.

    Dubai Chocolate Strawberries

Absolutely wonderful! Fabulous selection of rich, wonderful coffee and I tried their Dubai Chocolate Strawberries which was life altering...one of those When Harry Met Sally experiences! The service is warm and friendly. Already looking forward to my next visit!

He said 'sure' and here we are. I completely forgot this place existed until I was looking around on Yelp for new places to try. Thank gosh for a dull moment of internet browsing at work. We waddled in and immediately didn't know what to order. The menu was a lot bigger than I expected for a space so small. Tim tried to explain a Poke bowl to me but said it was something you just have to experience or google. Seeing as we were both still full from lunch, the time to learn from experience would have to come another day. I settled on a Coffee Milk Tea with cinnamon boba and Tim got this unique Matcha with cream cheese foam with strawberry jelly. We plopped down on some chairs and waited for our drinks to come out. It took a bit longer than I expected but the place was hopping and there were tons of orders being picked up and there was almost an endless line of people placing orders. The wait was probably 10 minutes but not too bad for how steady they were. Tim and I slowly put down our drinks as we chatted about the various aspects of life. My first sip was extremely delicious and sweet. After a few sips, the peak delicious faded and turned into a drink that was good but leaving you yearning for that sweet sweet sweetness. Could be that it needed blended a bit more. Either way, it was pleasant even with the drink settling as the cup became more and more empty. In hindsight, maybe it was best the drink evened out after demolishing plates at a buffet. During our time, we saw a lot of college kids come and go while a few couples hung around and enjoyed their food. Bradley University students probably love this place. The interior is very narrow and the sitting area, while plenty of seats, isn't conducive to a long term hangout. Grab your meal, enjoy, chat for a bit, then head out. But not every place has to be geared towards people like me who likes to sit and chat for awhile. It's cool to see Peoria have such a varied amount of cultural places to sample; from Chinese to Vietnamese to Italian to Mexican to Mediterranean. If time allows, I would love to come back and try one of these mystery Poke bowls. Until then, stay boba-licious!

She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!

I got the thai chicken pizza and it was SO good. The hot honey was a little sweeter than I expected, however the jalepeno balanced it well. I don't know if our server disappeared or something but we waited 30-45 minutes to get our check which was semi-frustrating. Anyways, 10/10 food. Very unique. Very different. I recommend!!!

Review Visit: March 14th, 2016…read more What do you think I ordered at Steak & Fries? If you guess some steak with a side of fries, you'd be incorrect. What did I order on this sunny spring day? I honestly don't remember. Between looking at my photos and looking at the website/online menu, I can usually guess what I order. Not this time. Let's take a journey as I try to remember. Based on the photo below, it appears that one of the things I ordered was a BLT but its on a hotdog bun. Yup, I am not making that up. That's exactly what it looks like. The other item I ordered was another BLT maybe with chicken instead of bacon? A CLT also on a hotdog bun. Weird. I couldn't even begin to guess what the other stuff on the menu would look like once served. Tacos on a hamburger bun? Pizza topped with ice cream? Who knows! The restaurant is located in CampusTown in Peoria. This area is full of eager college freshmen dodging traffic, the worst intersection in history and a ton of local restaurants. CampusTown specifically has a countless number of places to eat and Steak & Fries is one of them. The name is generic, the food is served in non-traditional ways and the taste was... pretty good. That I do remember. My girlfriend and I were taken back by the unusual way food was presented and then we were taken back by how good it was despite the oddity of it all. You can see on their website that our unique experience isn't so unique and is just who they are. If you know me, I am a fan of oddities. I've done some strange stuff over my lifetime and tries even stranger things. Nothing illegal. Just going against the grain to try old things in new ways and new things in old ways. So, I have a small soft spot for this visit as it was definitely one to reflect on and laugh about. I've kind of gone off my normal trail with this post. In the end, if you are in need of something different that won't break the bank, check out Steak & Fries for something different.
