Seniors omelette

This is a busy place. They won't take reservations. If you order the Apple pancake, you should put in the order while you wait for your table. We had a party of 10. Call ahead and see if you can get on the waitlist. Didn't think there was any wait time. Sat down and ordered. I had the seniors omelette with hash and coffee. That is more than enough. The waiter was attentive. We had a nice time. I recommend this place.

Are here recently. Overall very good breakfast and I'll probably be back. I had the biscuits and gravy full order as well as a side of pancakes. The pancakes were very fluffy and delicious and I also enjoyed the white gravy with the biscuits and gravy. I would've preferred fluffier biscuits as the top of them seemed a little hard, but the flavor from the gravy was still very good. The juice a bit expensive too for the size compared to the cost. Waiter was good.

Typical American breakfast pancake house. Nothing crazy unique except the checkout process. Receipt has scanner to pay online, this is easy quick and no trouble at all. All restaurants should do this! Food was decent. Again typical pancakes, Benedict's, eggs, etc type of breakfast. I got the corn hash brown which was nothing great but not horrible. Friend got hash browns which were supposedly seasoned with creole flavors, but it just tasted like overly salted and peppered hash browns. Pancakes were cooked well. Plenty of condiments to go around. Clean venue with lots of seating. Social seating not really followed by all servers were masked. Quick and easy service, friendly and helpful. Happy eating. Probably won't come back in future but worth the try for newbies.

Runny Eggs, burnt Sausage Patties Quite overpriced for the outcome.

Ordered Apple Waffle, delicious but $10 for a waffle I could recreate at home. Service seemed inviting. But the aroma of customers was busy and loud.

Always a good time at the Pancake House! Food is great and my kids love it! The wait is never long either, even on a weekend morning.

Came here this morning ( 1/22/26 ) for breakfast at 09:15)…read more From where I was sitting, I could clearly see the kitchen. Several minutes went by, and I just happened to look up after I placed my order. I observed one of the cooks wipe his nose, and went back to cooking WITHOUT washing his hands !!!. I got the server's attention, informed her of what occurred, canceled my order, and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. I was able to speak with an older woman with a slavic accent. When I informed her of what I clearly observed, she literally told me that " It was no big deal" !!!.I literally could not believe her response, and that I then informed her that I was going to file an immediate complaint with the health department, to which she responded with "so what ?". I did file the complaint 10 minutes later, and recieved a quick response. Imagine what else is going on ??? I will NEVER, EVER patronize this restaurant ever again !!!

Review Visit: October 28th, 2014…read more If you are a diner aficionado, do not confuse yourself. Yes, there is two diners in Illinois that have nearly the same name. This one is THE 50's Diner located in Peoria, IL and the other is THAT 50's Diner in Dwight, IL. The similarities do not end there. They are both themed from the 1950s. They have a big love of Elvis and other 1950's stuff decorating the diner. That's about where it ends. Matt, Tim, and I rolled up on a sunny autumn afternoon for some nostalgic trip. Not that we were alive in the 50's but it is always fun to visit a place themed after a time period one isn't alive for. I am still waiting for someone to open a Cafe 80's modeled after the one from Back to the Future II. This diner was screaming 50's from the moment we walked in. Black and white color scheme for the seating. 50's decor and memorabilia lining the walls and counters. A menu that screams styling from the time. But none of that matters in the end. It's the food. The menu emhpasizes the Loosey Sammich and that is just what I ordered. While looking over the menu, I did notice they served curly fries, which seems like a rarity outside of Hardee's/Carl Jrs. The diner wasn't busy so our server was timely and our food was delivered after a short while. The food was served in those plastic baskets with wax paper (but sometimes served on plates). To me, I enjoy food being delivered in those things. Why, only foggy childhood memories can explain. The food was dropped in front of us and the Loosey sandwich was... not appealing. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it if you've read enough of these blog posts, you know I save my judgment for how it tastes, not how it looks. Chomp. Chomp. A few bites in and my mouth ran in to dryness without flavor to cover it up. The sandwich was somehow disappointing despite being their signature sandwich. I am going to guess that the meat was sitting in a warmer and dried out. Ah, what a bummer. The fries were good, at least. I've been back a few times with my friend Maria for random breakfasts and lunches and the food from those visits mirrored my first experience here. Bland. Not to say the food is awful or should be avoided, but don't expect anything to make you crave coming back time and time again. But, on the other hand, maybe you'll love the place. Don't let me bland experience deter you from checking it out. Maybe my taste buds are compatible with the 50's. Ah, but this isnt the end of this blog. Nope, one little thing left to talk about. There is a store that takes up the right side of The 50's Diner. Yes, you heard it here. A store. I've browsed the merchandise for sale and I am not sure if this store is a consignment-based or what. The assortment of items is rather eclectic. There's novelty candy, jewelry, random clothes, and other odds and ends. It kind of makes visiting here exciting because you just never know what they will have on sale.

Cute little diner. Good size portions. Large and think pancakes. Ordered the Mega skillet.read more

I recently booked a work dinner reservation for 15 and the hostess was easy and pleasant to talk…read moreto. The reviews from the guests were that the dinner and service was perfect! Being a waitress in my 20's, I know how a big party can be a struggle. The reason I picked Thyme was due to some dietary restrictions. Thyme serves all. I recommend Thyme for business meeting lunches and dinners. Make a reservation ahead of time so they can accommodate your needs. Love to see old buildings brought back to life, Thyme, in the old Sealtest building, sits in the warehouse district of downtown Peoria. The eclectic atmosphere is inviting. The food is traditional yet exotic, yet farm to table, yet mysterious! We eat with our eyes, then smell, then taste. Good job Thyme!

This was our second time here. The first visit went off without a hitch, food was good and service…read moreequally good. Second time coming back we brought the in-laws from our home town in Arizona. Keep in mind we are new here and excited to embrace this new city and all its food places just like this. It was a Tuesday night and they were busy, not so busy that we had to wait for a table, we got right in. The blond girl that was to be our server came to take our drink order. I was on the fence for a few items so I asked the server, "When the cooks in this place get a moment to themselves to enjoy a dish, which is it they usually get?" She assured me without a doubt it was not the burger I was comparing but the duck reuben. Being a fan of both duck and Reuben's I was like, " oh hell yeah, sign me up". So I replied I'll have the Reuben, mom got meatloaf, dad got the burger, wife got the poke bowl. We had a few drinks enjoyed each other's company and then our appetizers came, the cheese curds!! Holy smokes these were legit the star of the evening! If you go I recommend these! Our food came out after and we began to eat. This is the point it went south! The server all but vanished. Usually you can't get a bite in before your asked how is it? Well we needed silverware, napkins, salt and pepper, basic accoutrements. Nobody came. My Reuben..... BORING!! This was the smallest plate of food I've ever seen. The duck was overcooked and dry, there was not a good ratio of slaw to dressing to duck and it was lacked all the way around. I was hoping to ask for some more dressing to bring some life to it but the server never came. Mom wanted salt and pepper for her meatloaf, but the server never came. Finally I was able to get S&P from a busser! The poke bowl was kinda a joke as well, huge bowl of rice and peas and about 3 or 4 small bits of tuna. It was good but not balanced and completely underwhelming. Folks are boomers so yeah considering mom needed to help meatloaf says a lot. But still no server! Finally she came back with the bill. At which point I had to mention that this was by far the WORST Reuben I have EVER had!! She giggled. I said SERIOUSLY, that was wack AF, and you never came back to check on us so I couldn't even attempt a save by dousing it in dressing! She ignored that and disappeared, yup the shitty Reuben was still there on the bull and nobody cared! Moral of the story, you're gonna gamble here. I would love to try again but when you can get a Reuben at One World that blows it out of the water EVERYTIME for a fraction of the price I would second guess giving your money to this business. Bummer, I love the building, I love the ice cream factory throw back! And the ambience is super nice! Service and portioning need a lot more investigation. Hey owner this is your queue!! Make a positive change here.
