Pork tenderloin sandwich. Big enough for two meals
    Erin G.

I wanted to like this restaurant but sadly it fell short. The decor is nice, the server was attentive if inexperienced and discount coupons for the restaurant print on the back of the nearby grocery store receipts. The portions are large but the food flavors are the weak point. I am from Central Illinois and I am a big fan of pork tenderloins. In true Midwest fashion this was a monster sandwich and came on a tasty bun. However the breading was sweet. Another reviewer said it tasted like coconut but to me it tasted almost like sweet Hawaiian bread crumbs. Like they ran out of the normal coating and said this will do. Oh no it does not! We got soup, pasta salad and fries. These were all acceptably prepared and we enjoyed them. I got the bananas foster dessert. When it came I asked for ice cream. I love sweet stuff but this was over the top and needed dairy to cut all the sugar. Sweet banana bread with bananas, nuts and caramel sauce on top. This is going to sound weird but the banana bread tasted a little like the tenderloin coating. Same spice or something? No ice cream was available. Our server was attentive and she appeared to be new in her job and really trying. As for social distancing we were the only table the whole time we were there so yay for that. Honestly this is not on the top of my list when I make a return trip to Peoria, Illinois.

    This was the "Chicken Philly"

We went here for mother's day lunch. It was understandably busy and the server did her best, but it still took over an hour to get food once we ordered. The chicken and rice soup was tasty, but our actual sandwiches were mediocre at best. My mother ordered the French dip and the meat was bad. The sandwich smelled and tasted sour. They were kind enough to take it off our bill since management was there, but said they typically only let you replace with another entree. Wouldn't recommend for lunch/dinner, but they have a good breakfast.

    Strawberry Stuffed French Toast

10/10 I got the strawberry stuffed french toast and a side of turkey sausage since I don't eat pork. When I tell you this food was so good!! This was some of the best french toast I've had in a long time. And the turkey sausage was juicy and full of flavor. Stopped in for breakfast with my grandparents and I'm so glad we did. They give you a lot of food for your money so the prices are a little higher but justified in my opinion. Waitress was super friendly and attentive. Wonderful atmosphere and decor. If you haven't tried it yet you should!!

We were greeted at the door and were instantly t at our table. I had the turkey dinner which was very good. But guest had the buffalo chicken horseshoe, the chicken was very tender but had too much buffalo sauce making it very spicy. We will be back again

Until and soft boiled consistency of Sunny side up eggs and cold uncooked potatoes under after trying to find a few ediable bites.

The worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. One hour 10 minutes for a simple breakfast. Twenty minutes just waiting for service before asking waitress to be found. Was told burnt eggs cold served were because I asked eggs not be runny. Did not even bring check - had to beg for that too and even card pay machine took 2 attempts. Save yourself.

    Hair in salad

I never leave reviews but I couldn't help it with this "restaurant ". First when we got sat we waited 15 mins for anyone to acknowledge us. There were only a handful of tables seated so it's not like it was busy at all. The "manager " asked if we needed anything and we told her we were just waiting for a server. We ordered 2 wraps and waters. I ordered a salad instead of fries. My salad had a nasty hair in it. I had only taken a couple of bites and then saw it. They took off $2 for it. Server never came back to get us refills on our water or check on us at all. Needless to say we will never return. This place is terrible and that's putting it very nicely. Dirty tables everywhere and staff just standing around doing nothing but hanging out.

This place seem to have really good from scratch cooking methods and was able to accommodate our crazy allergies. Even at lunch, there was a lot of mood lighting and it was pretty dark. They had a lot of antiques and interesting furniture and decorations. As a family with young kids, I do wish they didn't see us next to the naked bodies in the artwork. It was very distracting for one of my kiddos during lunch. We were helped pretty quickly, but it did take a long time to get our food. Our food was outstanding. Everything was from scratch and it tasted really good. The baby really enjoyed it. This sweet potato fries are amazing. I was confused why the restaurant was so empty but perhaps it's because it takes so long to get your food? Or possibly Peoria I just can't support a nice restaurant like that. I was disappointed that I couldn't eat off the dinner menu. I was really looking forward to a few of the things on that menu. Perhaps next time we can get takeout so the kids won't get so antsy and try some of the dinner menu. Thank you hearth for a lovely lunch that was safe for our family!

The entrée comes with your choice of sides. My guests loved the brussels sprouts. I had the collard greens; the flavor was good, though they were a bit gritty. Overall, great food, service, and ambiance. We would definitely return.

The Comfort family has been doing this for over 50 years, and every single visit reminds me why longevity like that is earned, not given. Let me start with the food, because it deserves its own paragraph. The dry-aged steaks, cut in-house, are simply the best in the area -- and I say that as someone who has tried them all. Whether it's a perfectly prepared filet, a juicy lamb chop, or one of their famous 10 oz. steak burgers (the Bleu Burger is my personal obsession), every dish comes out exactly right. The seafood ravioli appetizer is a must-order, the beer cheese soup is legendary, and the Caesar salad never misses. If you come on a Sunday, do not leave without trying the fried chicken -- it is the best Sunday dinner in the Peoria area, full stop. The service here is consistently warm and attentive. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do, and it shows in the timing, the recommendations, and the little touches that make a dinner feel like an event. I've brought family, friends, dates, and colleagues here, and every single group has walked out raving. And the atmosphere! You can choose between the elegant indoor dining room or the lovely outdoor patio -- both are wonderful. On a warm evening, there's nothing better than sitting outside on Prospect Road with a glass from their extensive wine list, taking your time with a perfectly cooked steak. Jim's Bistro isn't just a restaurant to me -- it's a tradition. It's where I go to celebrate, to unwind, and to remember that truly great food never goes out of style. If you haven't been, you are missing out on something special. If you have been, you already know exactly what I'm talking about. See you at the next table.

We ended up staying there talking for a couple of hours to catch up, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. While there are lots of great options on the menu, both of us chose the BPT - Breaded Pork Tenderloin. I've eaten a lot of breaded pork tenderloins in my time, but none like this one. The usual approach is super thin and huge, making the bun look tiny. While this one wasn't much larger than the bun, it was at least an inch thick, so it was more like eating a fried pork chop sandwich, but with the meat tenderized. The meat was well-seasoned and very flavorful, and the crust was extra-crispy and crunchy. The Honey-Lime sauce (one of three sauces brought to each table along with Ranch and Tyler's Sauce) is delicious and worked great with the pork. Fries were good, as was the cole slaw (which had a nice kick from some very freshly-ground black pepper). And I'm always happy when a place has Guinness on tap.

From the get go the atmosphere was great, there was a short queue (but it was a Friday night, so it's to be expected), but we were quickly shown to our table. Our server was Connor, who was great from the start and was very flexible with our large group who had a few dietary preferences/requirements. One of our favorite things about the menu is the focus on utilizing local businesses and serving their products. As most locals know Bill's Lemon Shake Ups are a staple in the region so when I saw that on the menu I had to go for that, and with multiple flavor choices I was excited to try. I ended up settling for the tenderloin sandwich, but I was certainly interested to try a lot of the menu. The amount of pork was HUGE and it was flavorful and paired with the honey lime sauce it was a 10/10! The bun alone was phenomenal, and I couldn't recommend this meal enough if you are a schnitzel or tenderloin fan! That sauce is definitely a star of the show, paired with the sweet heat seasoning available at the table next to the S&P the meal was the perfect combination of sweet, spice and tasty! Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well and there was little left by the end. The nachos were customized to account for a dietary preference so this is not the standard, however they were delicious and a huge portion. The pizza was thin crust and was excellent too, so no notes across the board. Thanks once again to Connor for accommodating us and being so patient with our party. You can also purchase any of the three major sauces that they have in house, so I proceeded to buy the honey lime which we'll be enjoying for the next few weeks, if it makes it that long!

And we highly recommend a visit, especially if you are familiar with the brand! Like the BloNo location there are at least two entrances - the one further west is for a good sized hosting/ordering/waiting area while the one closest to the ballpark has more direct access to the bar area, but is way more space-restricted and will likely be a traffic jam on game days. If you're looking for a table, both entrances open to the rest of the cool 'industrial chic' dining areas in the form of a large street-level open concept dining area and a good sized split-level (up 3-4 steps) back room - which despite having wide entrances that make it feel part of the larger space, likely can easily be cordoned-off for private functions. One visit in and the lady and I (plus our friend and former Ptown bartender) can say that the food was every bit the same top-quality, large portion, methodically cooked and creatively accented sandwiches and wraps, served in old school pie pans with red-white check paper liners, that we are used to. The weekend special shaved ribeye Cali burrito was particularly epic, cementing what seems to be the first of the 3 or 4 things that keep the crowds coming back. The second thing is the creativity and discernment applied to bar side - in the form of the beer menu, which is initially focused on bottles/cans since they just received the liquor license the day before our arrival. Despite this there was a good mix of 'domestics' and at least 20 quality craft options from 6 or 8 fantastic breweries representing a good variety of styles but leaning like those at the original location - that is, a few more IPAs and 'sweet sours'. They also maintain a thoughtful and inventive cocktail list and will NO DOUBT start building up the whiskey/bourbon collection in the coming weeks. Although having high quality and fairly compensated employees helps immensely, the last thing that really drives their business is something we often say three times - location... In this case, it's literally less than a block from home plate. Easy to find. Easy to love. We'll certainly be back!
