Bust'd Brewing busted me out of winter boredom with some beer and board games…read more Ever since I heard about Bust'd Brewing open up in Peoria Heights, I knew I'd end up there eventually and the time finally came. Emily and I both agreed that going out for a drink sounded good and I asked if she wanted to check out Bust'd and she said yup. We rolled up on a Friday night around 6pm and the place wasn't too busy. There was a couple couples in there so we grabbed a beer and took a seat and started playing some games. A coworker told me about Shut the Box and funny enough, it was on the table and we played quite a few rounds as we worked on our first beer. Emily's first beer was the That One Coach and my first one was the Cattails. I usually really enjoy hefeweizens but this one felt a bit flat. It lacked the banana and vanilla punch I am used to them having. It was good, don't get me wrong but didn't hit quite like hefeweizens usually hit. Emily said she really enjoyed her beer. I tried it but brown ales are not my cup of... beer. Once we switched to playing Anarchy Pancakes, we grabbed another beer. This time Emily got the Trailblazer and I got the Hazy not Hazy. I jokingly said the Hazy should be called Hazy not Crazy and the bartender (who I think might be one of the owners?) laughed and said she liked that. I told her she could use it for a future beer, free of charge. As we grabbed our beers, a family came in and took over the other half the big table we were at, so we hopped onto a 4-top to enjoy our new beer and new game. I really liked the Hazy not Hazy. Emily liked hers and we both wished that we would've gotten our 2nd choice for both our beers. The interior of the brewery is really nice. A lot of wood throughout and the place was brightly lit. This brewery is located in an old Subway building so if it looks like every other Subway out there, that is why. On the backside of the building is where The Other Dawg was located years ago. It is a bit small inside so if they are busy or are hosting an event, it could get crowded quick in there. They have a giant Connect Four and a plentiful board game collection to enjoy while you are there. I absolutely love that these social establishments are providing fun stuff to do and providing a place for people to gather and socialize. As we were paying our tab, I picked up a t-shirt and some stickers. The shirt was $25 (I think) and the stickers were $1 each. Emily grabbed a beer opener for $5. In hindsight, I wish I would've gotten a beer opener, too. Not just to support a local business but they were pretty good quality, too. If you need a social spot to grab some beer and space to play some board games, Bust'd Brewing should make your list. They also have a ton of events to attend if that's more your thing. Cheers!

This is a cool little brewery, Heather is an amazing and very friendly bartender, the beer is good…read more I'd highly recommend this place for anyone passing through Peoria

Review Visit: July 24th, 2016…read more Beer, arcade games and friends. My kind of place. Growing up, I got involved in playing video games thanks to my father and friends. Everything from Atari to Sega Genesis to Super Nintendo to Gameboy; everything in-between and everything after. Once I was legally allowed to enjoy adult beverages, I grew to enjoy beer a few years later. Shortly after, 8 Bit opened up. Having a lifelong love for video games and a recently acquired taste for beer, I gathered a few of my nerdy friends up and headed that way. 8 Bit is a pretty unique place. It's a bar that is also an arcade. It looks like a normal business situated at the end of a building but inside is a different story. Upon walking, you get the feeling you are in a house. You have some stairs that lead up to... somewhere. Off to the right of the entrance is the smallish bar. Between the bar tables and the machines, it can get pretty packed with just a handful of people. As you deviate from the bar, you'll find yourself in a hallway that has one machine at the end on the left, that is tucked under the stairs. Next to that is a room that full of 6-8 games (it could vary, I am not sure). Going back in to the hallway, you'll find the next room down on the left. That room is L-shaped and has maybe 12 games in it. At the end of the hallway, are the bathrooms. All the games are free to play as long as you are ordering drinks and spending money. Instead of loading your pockets full of quarters, you just have to load your belly up with beer. A fair trade off in my opinion. The beercade has a nice beergarden to enjoy. On my first visit here, my friends and I ordered a few drinks and headed outside to play some Pokemon Go. After polishing off my beer, I noticed there was a window in which you could order beer from the bar through. That is exactly what I did. I ordered another beer through the window. I thought that was pretty cool. While we were there playing Pokemon Go, another group of people came in and was playing Pokemon Go. We noticed they were playing as we kept battling for the Gym that was located nearby. At one point, that group sent someone out to spy on us as we battled for the gym. After noticing the other group was taking this too serious, we decided to close the app, head inside and play the arcade games. The selection of arcade games is about your standard fare. There are your usual games but they also had a few games I've never seen before. We played games for a bit longer before heading out. Now, this wasn't my only time I have come here. Ever since this visit, I have been back a few times with various other friends. Each visit has been unique. The first time I went, they offered food. The subsequent visits had no food options due to law changes. The last time I went was in late 2019 and they had this sweet system set up at the bar. It was operated with some aftermarket SNES controller and had almost every retro game available. My friend Nate and I spent more time browsing the catalog than gaming. It was such a sweet system and I wish I had it at home. 8 Bit has expanded to a second location in Bloomington, IL. I have yet to check it out but it is on my short list of places to visit. I feel like it's my duty as a gamer to check out not just the 2nd location but all beercades across the world. If you have the chance to check one out, you don't even need to be a gamer to enjoy these kinds of places.

Being a waitress in my 20's, I know how a big party can be a struggle. The reason I picked Thyme was due to some dietary restrictions. Thyme serves all. I recommend Thyme for business meeting lunches and dinners. Make a reservation ahead of time so they can accommodate your needs. Love to see old buildings brought back to life, Thyme, in the old Sealtest building, sits in the warehouse district of downtown Peoria. The eclectic atmosphere is inviting. The food is traditional yet exotic, yet farm to table, yet mysterious! We eat with our eyes, then smell, then taste. Good job Thyme!

This was our second time here. The first visit went off without a hitch, food was good and service…read moreequally good. Second time coming back we brought the in-laws from our home town in Arizona. Keep in mind we are new here and excited to embrace this new city and all its food places just like this. It was a Tuesday night and they were busy, not so busy that we had to wait for a table, we got right in. The blond girl that was to be our server came to take our drink order. I was on the fence for a few items so I asked the server, "When the cooks in this place get a moment to themselves to enjoy a dish, which is it they usually get?" She assured me without a doubt it was not the burger I was comparing but the duck reuben. Being a fan of both duck and Reuben's I was like, " oh hell yeah, sign me up". So I replied I'll have the Reuben, mom got meatloaf, dad got the burger, wife got the poke bowl. We had a few drinks enjoyed each other's company and then our appetizers came, the cheese curds!! Holy smokes these were legit the star of the evening! If you go I recommend these! Our food came out after and we began to eat. This is the point it went south! The server all but vanished. Usually you can't get a bite in before your asked how is it? Well we needed silverware, napkins, salt and pepper, basic accoutrements. Nobody came. My Reuben..... BORING!! This was the smallest plate of food I've ever seen. The duck was overcooked and dry, there was not a good ratio of slaw to dressing to duck and it was lacked all the way around. I was hoping to ask for some more dressing to bring some life to it but the server never came. Mom wanted salt and pepper for her meatloaf, but the server never came. Finally I was able to get S&P from a busser! The poke bowl was kinda a joke as well, huge bowl of rice and peas and about 3 or 4 small bits of tuna. It was good but not balanced and completely underwhelming. Folks are boomers so yeah considering mom needed to help meatloaf says a lot. But still no server! Finally she came back with the bill. At which point I had to mention that this was by far the WORST Reuben I have EVER had!! She giggled. I said SERIOUSLY, that was wack AF, and you never came back to check on us so I couldn't even attempt a save by dousing it in dressing! She ignored that and disappeared, yup the shitty Reuben was still there on the bull and nobody cared! Moral of the story, you're gonna gamble here. I would love to try again but when you can get a Reuben at One World that blows it out of the water EVERYTIME for a fraction of the price I would second guess giving your money to this business. Bummer, I love the building, I love the ice cream factory throw back! And the ambience is super nice! Service and portioning need a lot more investigation. Hey owner this is your queue!! Make a positive change here.
