Took a bit to figure out the menu and the waitress confused us more when it came to ordering chips and salsa. The salsa was kinda bland, but the salt and hot sauce on the table fixed that. The Smashburger taco is amazing. The fish taco was also kinda bland. And the pork belly in the Korean taco was cut in huge pieces that made it had to eat. According to my dad's girlfriend, her blackened chicken salad was the best salad she's had in a long time. We will definitely be back. read more

Here for the first time today. Had a late lunch and the restaurant was not busy at all. Service was very quick and I thought it was a pretty big menu with lots of options. I chose to get two tacos, one in lettuce and one in a flour tortilla. Both I enjoyed very much and would order again. If in town again, I would certainly stop and try a couple more. read more

This is not authentic Mexican food but it is definitely DELICIOUS! Whatever artist they have working in the kitchen, that person is killing it. Such a great find! The server was awesome. Atmosphere was nice, good sized crowd for a mid week experience and the food and service were top notch.

What a great ambiance! The tacos were delicious! Our favs were Carne Asada and the Applewood Pork Taco. I highly recommend going during lunch for their three tacos with chips and salsa for $15. read more

What a find!!! The restaurant we wanted to go to after golf was closed, so I gave Yelp and try and Whiskey Taco sounded good. All of us throughly enjoyed the pick! My group was two holes behind so when we arrived most everyone was finished, but I arrived to rave reviews and we want to come back! The menu is EXTENSIVE, but our group mainly picked off the lunch 2 or 3 taco menu which included chips and salsa. I had a buffalo chicken taco and the whiskey bbq taco and immediately wished I had ordered 3 taco! They were the best tacos I've had in ages! I can't want to go back and try more! FYI: These are more like street taco size, maybe a little bigger. It was the perfect size for my senior citizen golfing friends! The restaurant was very busy but when I ordered two tacos to go, it didn't take too long for them to arrive. Our server was very nice and despite being busy took time to answer our questions. The restaurant is located in downtown (Court Street) of Pekin, but this building seemed a little newer and was very modern inside. Lots of seating inside and some outside. We are from out of town and we make a point to come here after having a great 1st experience a couple years ago. We spend a lot of money and bring friends which then spend a lot. We came today and I got a $12 margarita (June special). It had no raspberry taste and it was very strong after a couple sips I felt sick. I had others with me try it and one of them who as he said is someone who drinks plenty couldn't even drink it. Then when we said something the server acted like we were crazy. Asked if I wanted another one and I said if it is like that I wouldn't be able to drink it. She said they would pry still charge me and that threw us off. We got quite a bit of food so it wasn't like this was something they couldn't have taken off the bill, but they didn't. When we said something when we got the bill, she was rude and said the owner was sitting at the bar and they said to also charge me. Again I didn't drink it and would have been sick If I did. To know not only the owner was telling her to charge us but the waitress also didn't care either. However, the bartender also messed up the other person we were with drink orders, so it seems lIke there was a problem with service and we weren't making it up (as they made it sound). When we and the ppl at my table spent over $80 already that shows that you don't care about your customer. We actually talked to the people at the golf course about this place and talked about all the great things. When we go golfing tomorrow we will make sure to let them know that customer service and the way they handle things is not something I would recommend for them and share our experience. read more

I eat here during the week every few weeks and love it. They have a wide selection of items to choose from, that I love, and all are delicious! My favorite is the blacken chicken salad! I love the toppings on the salad and the dress! There are lots of unique tacos to choose from. Although they are on the smaller size, they pack them full. Two to three tacos fills me up!! The service during the week ifs fabulous. I think the waitress' name is Tia and she is great! Love the atmosphere and when the weather is nice, they open the front wall of windows, which adds to the ambience. Highly recommend!! read more

Enjoyed the Whiskey BBQ and Dragon tacos very much! The mahi mahi taco was okay, would probably not order that one again.

There were four of us. We had wings, whisky tacos and chicken nuggets and fries. among other things to eat! So glad you can have one of each item or however, you want it so you get a good variety on your plate. What they do to the food is awesome. The taste is spectacular. Oh man this was exactly what you'd expect of a central IL Mexican place that's bad. As someone who grew up in TX but is from the Midwest, I can give some grace. But, the guac did taste like it came from a bag, and the queso and salsa a jar. The skinny margarita was also closer to a ranch water than a skinny margarita. I always get shocked when places up here put soda water in their skinny margaritas. It should be a "crime" (or just advertised so I know not to order it lol) to make them this way. A marg is not supposed to be sparkling! Lastly, the tacos. Eh... Two were fine. Nothing I'd ever go out of my way to spend money on. But fine. The namesake taco, the whiskey taco was just nauseating. The sauce was watery, the pork was watery, and I couldn't finish. I'd like to say it was perhaps because we did come later in the evening but, that shouldn't change the quality of food or service. The inside is very nice and inviting and atmosphere is good but the appetizer called the trifekta is not very desirable the salsa taste like just a can of tomato paste and the guacamole was not very good as well had way to much lime taste and the cheese sauce with chirzo was just bland and let's not forget about the chips ,tasted old overdone and stale ,we did somewhat enjoy the tacos .Honestly not sure where we stand on the place it definitely needs some improvements in kitchen, salsa and cheese sauce and guacamole should make a statement for what's about to come as a entree . So Whiskey Taco in Pekin is not serving tacos as big as your head. These are street tacos - order accordingly and you will have a really lovely experience. Nestled in a former restaurant and Irish pub, Whiskey Taco has a muted, comfortable ambiance. There is an 'outer" eating area and an inner eating area. The staff will meet you upon walking in and there are televisions like a sports bar, but it doesn't overload the social experience. The chair and bench are nice sized and I was able to sit there for a long time. Staff as super nice, informative and accommodating. The appetizer came with chorizo cheese sauce, salsa and guacamole. The guacamole was homemade in my estimation and quite refreshing. The salsa was bright and tasty. There wasn't enough chorizo cheese sauce - quite flavorful and complemented the salty chips. Our meals arrived quite quickly and the food was great. The Whiskey BBQ taco was excellent and had a lovely slaw on it with broccoli, unique and quite pleasant. The bill wasn't unreasonable and we're going to go back soon. A real local treat! read more

I had seen and heard good things about this restaurant - enough to plan my 21st birthday brunch there. I was super excited and showed up with valid ID in hand with my loved ones. As we were seated I told the server it was my 21st birthday and I was SUPER excited. She looked me up in down and asked to see my ID. I handed it to her and she said absolutely not. She wasn't even going to look at it because it was vertical. However it had my birthday and the day I turned 21 in red on the photo, and it was not expired. When I showed her she laughed and said "and I love that but no I'm not serving you" I asked for a manager and no one was around - at that point we decided to leave. After that kind of service I just really don't plan on coming back. Might as well have a sign outside that says we don't do 21st birthdays. I can understand ID policies however who the hell is going to get a VERTICAL fake ID with a picture of them when they were 16 on it and the present days date on it for the birthday. All in all - will not be back if I could rate it 1/2 a star I would. read more
