Asian Crunch Warp with sweet potato fries
    Matt M.

Great atmosphere and ambiance! My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night for the first time! We sat at the bar! Loved the service and bartenders. We ordered cheese balls for an appetizer, Chicken crunch wrap with sweet potato fries and a double smash burger with pepper jack and coleslaw. We split both entrees. Cheese balls were great with melt in your mouth pepper jack. Asian Ginger glaze Chicken Crunch Wrap was just ok. We wouldn't order it again. The chicken is diced and processed. The flavor of the ginger glaze is just mediocre. Smash burger was great with the pepper jack cheese! Moist burger with a nice crust for flavor. Coleslaw is creamy and crunchy! Good slaw! We want to try a pizza next time! We would also order another burger!

We made the jaunt west last Thursday and grabbed a couple decent craft beers and some pre-game dinner. We immediately noticed some upscale upgrades on the new menu (including a $30 steak) and like the new indoor/outdoor room addition and renovated bathrooms. We weren't the only ones cuz the place was packed by 6 pm with a sports team or 2 in the new room and plenty of patrons in the main bar. Apparently I shoulda listened to my friends and fellow Yelpers and ordered the chicken boom wrap, because I went with the fried chicken sandwich and it was unimpressive. It wasn't bad, but it was clearly a processed patty and not likely ever hand-breaded, the bun was not the delicious brioche bun I remember loving a few years ago, and the service was average. My better half enjoyed her burger and fries, but also recalled a better bun years back and admitted that she liked both the burger and the fries better at Local Tap (in El Paso). Service was adequate although at one point i pointed out that the place was currently being featured on TV - being reviewed on the 'Ya Gotta Eat'' segment on the TV25 news - and was mostly shrugged off (then again, the sound was down, perhaps the visit didn't go well?). Irrespective of what TV25 thought, it was perhaps a 3.5 star evening for us just based on the fairly robust tap/bottle/can selection, but to be honest, I don't feel like it was enough to draw us back for the 25-30-min drive any time soon.

DOUBLE SMASH BURGER AND STEAK HOAGIE WITH FRIES

Went for lunch Friday afternoon. Great food, service and atmosphere! Started with the pork belly skewers. Something probably really bad for us to eat, but they are awesome in the Bourbon sauce! Definitely should try. Husband had the Steak Hoagie with fries. I had the Double Smash Burger with fries. Fries were crispy and hot! I have never had a Smash Burger before today. The hamburger was juicy and crispy edges! We really enjoyed our meals. Nice selection of Beers also. We had the Slaughter House. A dark beer and very tasty. Staff was on point with making sure everything was good. Thanks for a great meal!

Kemp's is probably the best place to go eat in town it seems. A good reason is because there's not much else. The food is pretty average but there's some good things for adults and families. Chill atmosphere even at times when it's crowded. It's located in the middle of downtown or whatever you call it. There's not a whole lot else to go to for a meal. Certainly explains why it gets busy. People only have a few choices and this is one of these. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. Whole lot of great stuff including whiskey. It's about $5 to get appetizers. We got the Chips And Salsa. Has a lot of greasy fried things like wings and other meats. The menu is pretty standard as far as fried stuff. Has a lot of the basics. It's closed Sundays. That's pretty strange for them to lose out on all that revenue on weekends.

The staff here was fabulous with a special shout-out to John. What I found particularly impressive was the amazing selection of craft brews for a small town. The staff was particularly knowledgeable about both the selection and even the breweries that supplied them! I even found some of my favorite and uncommon Chicagoland brews, although I selected some excellent brews from the Bloomington/Normal area. ( Drink local!) Food was wonderful and quickly delivered. I gave five stars on food because it is top quality relative to pubs in general. The Blue Cheese burger was great. I sampled the butterflied pork chop sandwich of the other meal we had and that was a standout! Ambiance is nice as if fitting a local pub in an older downtown building. One notable feature is the walls and ceiling are covered in banners and flags of various kinds which dramatically limits the amount of background noise that would normally be in such a building. There is also a nice outdoor beer garden. This local establishment is well worth the extra minutes off Interstate 55. Also highly recommended to cycling who travel out to the northeast terminus of the trail!

We tried some sides and sandwiches as well as a couple of desserts. Mac n cheese was creamy and delicious. The tomato bisque soup was hot and thick. The broccolini was ok. It could have used some seasoning or a sprinkle of Parmesan. The grilled chicken club was very good. The skillet cookie was served warm with ice cream and chocolate fudge. The cinnamon sprinkled pretzels were 2 large pretzels with a light dusting of cinnamon and sugar accompanied by a chocolate and a caramel sauce. In my opinion the pretzels should have had a heavier dusting of cinnamon sugar mixture. They were also a little tough. Why not partner with another small business, Swanee's, and serve their amazingly soft pretzels? Or pretzel bites? I would dine here again and try some of the other entrees. A lot go by and can't believe it's actually here. Trust the map apps and pull in for a few pints. Basically this is as micro as a microbrewery can get. It's pretty much run out of someone's shed. The farm is how this place gets its name, and there's a few interesting artifacts, such as equipment lying around and hanging up on the walls. As expected they only have a few beers. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we had was the Broken Spoke, which is an American pale ale. It's about $5 for pretzels. Cool thing is these are made with actual spent grains. The seating is limited but they have a patio with a few tables. For sure it's a place we would come to again. It's got pretty limited hours only being open Fridays to Sundays. Where relaxation meets inebriation…read more I hadn't heard of this hidden gem until I was talking to a coworker about breweries and he mentioned this place. It didn't take me long to go from hearing about it to visiting. Emily and I popped in on a beautiful Friday evening after I worked a nice 7-day work stretch. I was needing a beer or two and some unwinding. We used GPS to get here because it was in the middle of Nowhere, Metamora. As we approached, we saw a ton of cars and a food truck in the parking lot. For being out of the way, this place was hopping for a Friday evening. We parked and slowly strolled towards the beer house. Once inside, we took a few minutes to look at the beer menu and pick out what we wanted. I got the Rats in the Attic (plus a sticker) and Emily got the Holla Atcha. Where you order is a small building next to a big farm house. It's small and cozy inside. Once you get your beer, you head outside to either sit in this small converted barn or sit around the property. Emily and I decided to sit outside to soak up the setting sun and enjoy the weather. There are plenty of place to sit, with each area offering a different type of view. Emily and I sat and sipped our delicious beers while debating on getting food from the food truck as we were both hungry after a long day. Plus the first beer was hitting fast and quick and we were signed up for at least two for the night. Emily got the California Steak Bowl and I got the Asian Chicken Wrap. The food truck guy said it wouldn't take too long but that we had time to get another beer. Back into the little house we went. I got another Rats in the Celler as it was hitting all the right spots. Emily switched to the Dang! It's a Good One! fruit beer. We walked back to the truck and grabbed our food and headed back to our spot. The wrap I got had some jalapeno in it and it kicked HARD. I planned to sip my beer but it ended up going down quick to soothe the burn. I tried Emily's bowl and she tried my wrap and we both agreed that we had food envy and after we had a bit of our food, we switched. The bowl was a good way to help cool my mouth down (along with the rest of my beer). As much as we wanted to get a 3rd beer, the two that we got plus the food did us in. As we were walking out, we checked out the little converted barn and it would be the perfect place to have some drinks in rainy or cold weather. There's something rustic and antique about the place that I just loved. It's only been a day since I was there but I am craving to go back ASAP. The fact that this place is a farm area turned into a brewery (but still seems to have some farm activities going on) hits all the right notes, plus having a tasty beer on tap helps a ton. It was super relaxing to just sit there and drink some good beer while having a great conversation in the middle of nowhere.
