We had a group of 3 and a 4pm reservation as they said they were completely booked for any time slot after 4:00 pm. There is a mix of booths and high top tables. Booths can seat 6 guests and tables seat 4 guests. There is also full bar service and seating. The waitress answered our questions about the various menu items. We tried some sides and sandwiches as well as a couple of desserts. Mac n cheese was creamy and delicious. The tomato bisque soup was hot and thick. The broccolini was ok. It could have used some seasoning or a sprinkle of Parmesan. The grilled chicken club was very good. The skillet cookie was served warm with ice cream and chocolate fudge. The cinnamon sprinkled pretzels were 2 large pretzels with a light dusting of cinnamon and sugar accompanied by a chocolate and a caramel sauce. In my opinion the pretzels should have had a heavier dusting of cinnamon sugar mixture. They were also a little tough. Why not partner with another small business, Swanee's, and serve their amazingly soft pretzels? Or pretzel bites? I would dine here again and try some of the other entrees. To start, the inside feels very empty and has almost no decor. The service was very nice and helped a bit with trying to decide on what to order. Only pick i have with it was with how empty the restaurant was and waited a bit longer than probably should have. Just about everything else was very good. The beers offered were great and could definitely have a good time with friends ordering drinks. With the food, the cheese curds were very similar to most other places. I felt like the French Dip sandwich was bland and only got any flavor when dipped in the Au Jus. The burgers however were easily the best part of the meal. Cooked perfectly and the has plenty of flavor from seasoning and the aioli. The regular fries came out room temp and bland however the truffle fries at no additional cost for a side were very good and came out hot. Prices could be a little higher than what some people want to pay but for good beers and great burgers, would come back to when visiting home. read more

Positive: The upstairs open-air seating is new & attractive space. Negatives: Lengthy time to wait for seating even when two thirds of the tables were empty. Wait staff was absent, inattentive & unpleasant. We felt like we were "a bother" to her. She spent her time rolling silverware in napkins. I guess that's priority. Our napkins came with a fork only. We had to go searching for a knife. We ordered a pretzel. It came with no serving plate. I had to use my napkin as a plate. It was a very unpleasant experience. No way are we coming back. We started out so excited to have TR, truly wanted to have it be our GO TO spot, as it's on our hometown square! It continues to miss the mark! Long waits for drinks, 50/50 on whether service will be good, and food is often not as described on menu and not worth the money! Such potential, but management has lacked since the day it opened! I've eaten at another location of this restaurant so my expectations were high. This is an existing building which has been remodeled. High ceilings and concrete floors so a bit noisy. Indoor and outdoor dining (huge outdoor area) but nobody wanted to sit outside as it was a hot day. We were greeted promptly and brought water. Friendly waitress! The food was amazing, i ate almost all of it. The only reason I didn't eat it all is because i was so full. The waitress was very nice and made the experience better, and the (manager i think) walked around talking to everyone. It was also very pretty, and you could see the whole square including the fountain from where we were sitting. We went on the rooftop and played bags and there were 2 people sitting by a fireplace. It reminded me of the restaurant i went to in new york city, and i loved that one, so consider this place luxurious. WHO GAVE THIS A 3 STAR AVERAGE?! Let's get to the root of the issue. Emily and I have been wanting to try this place out since they opened. I know quite a few people who have gone in the few months since they've been open and have heard a wide variety of reviews on the place, but that doesn't deter me from trying a place out as I usually have a great time at most places I go... The staff was super nice and friendly and the restaurant-side of things wasn't too busy. We were trying to beat the dinner crowd and did just that. The waitress took awhile but when she showed up, she was amazingly friendly. We ordered waters and eventually were able to order some flights and food. For how slow it was, the waitress didn't stop by at a normal frequency as most other establishments, so placing the initial flight order and then food order took longer than normal. After about 10 minutes, our flights came out. I had peeked at their beer menu at work and saw too many tasty-sounding things to try, so I got the four items listed under Hoppy on the beer menu. Emily got her usual fruity/sour beers. I didn't care much for the Midwest Emo but the other beers were okay. Wasn't really preferring one over the other, but that could also be my taste preference. Emily liked most of her beers and ordered another Sunkisser as she was in love with that one. At last, our food came out and we were ready to dive in. First fry in, I knew there was a problem. My fries weren't cold but feel like they got cold and then re-heated under a warmer. They just had no life to them. A room-temp french fry is such a disappointment to eat. I debated saying something to the waitress, but she wasn't around too much, and I just didn't have an appetite for a whole other batch. I was also disappointed in the size of the Halfway to Nashville. It was no bigger than a large sand dollar. I think I had it mostly gone after 6 bites. Not only that but there was some mustard on it and I am not the biggest fan of mustard. It's listed as a frittes aioli. It didn't detract much from an otherwise unremarkable sandwich but definitely didn't add much. On the plus side, Emily's fries were hot, fresh, and tasted pretty decent. Not much flavor despite the seasoning but unoffensive overall. Emily was enjoying her food but was disappointed in the fact that her grilled cheese looked more like a toasted cheese. For it being a grilled cheese, it looked like the bread was heated up in a toaster. Other than that, Emily's meal was gouda. The price was a bit high for this place, in my opinion. For the two meals, two flights and a beer, the total was $70. Yikes. I really hate being so negative and down on a place. I know that some of the things were on me (not loving the beer flavors, not knowing what frittes aioli is, and not getting replacement fries. But the overall experience left so much to be desired. Emily and I both agreed that we would like to come back and try the upstairs outdoor patio. Maybe when the weather cools off and my aversion to this place dies down a bit. The BBQ Brewmaster Burger on the menu did sound pretty good. Despite that all, I know Emily wants to try and check out their other locations at some point. read more

Why all the low reviews? How is the local Dairy Queen getting higher ratings, people are silly, this place is fantastic! Even more obvious how busy it was our Saturday evening, us guys waited over an hour then nearly another hour to be eating by the time we ordered drinks, apps, and mains. This is an ideal small town estate of top tier kitchen craft and drafts beyond expectations. Ended up with three flights trying most of the menu, that blackberry wheat is award worthy but oddly more hoppy in the can we discovered later. The chocolate dark stout had me good. Apricot, tangerine, banana and clove, there is so many sweet treats to sip! Cannot wait to come back, sure the staff was overwhelmed and frantic most the time with so many dining in and the rain keeping the open balcony patio closed. Take your time, browse all the good goodies the menu offers, dream about the skillet cookie and tiramisu, it is all here. Seems the only apps worth trying are nachos and biscuits which helped keep our costs down considering those three flights, an Honest Abe, and the two desserts we turned fro dreams to reality at the end. That vanilla syrup in the Honest Abe, oh my! Good stuff, every small village center needs one of these craft kitchens to ensure citizen sanity and prove that mainstream beers named lite are more water than ale! The nachos were fantastic, cease and desist burger exquisite, my carne asada tacos small and a bit tough but full of tasty tastes, and nothing was left even the small fries disappeared. French dip sandwich was disappointing, flavorless and really overpriced at $21 with a side of fries or chips. Rooftop bar is still nice to enjoy a summer evening and the only place to do that in Washington. Selection of craft brews is ok but they often sell out of a good number of them. read more

We love their location in Ottawa IL In Washington We sat for nearly an hour waiting while they had five tables open and set with silverware right in front of us. The hostesses (4 of them doing next to nothing) fawned over a big party that was full of their personal friends (or assumed they were as they gave them all hugs as they came in). We never got seated. Pointed out the five open tables and that we'd leave if we weren't sat and there was NO apology or try to make it right. In fact they watched us walk out with no words whatsoever as if shocked someone would leave. We left and will probably never go back. Extremely extremely disappointed and will recommend all of our friends make the trip north to never visit this location. They were unprepared and poorly trained as a staff for a busy Saturday. You are in the people business and if you make enough people mad you will no longer have people coming to your restaurant. I pray this gets better but we are bitterly disappointed. I would give 1/2 or zero stars if possible. read more

Bar is usually good for one to two people seating and it is a bit loud, probably because it is so open..! They have an outdoor seating open to the views of the square down below... Watched her run around for over 10 minutes away from the bar and back, filling orders for the waitresses. She never came back. Perfectly crafted drink to start - The Abe! Appetizer of the pretzels - very good. Ordered beer can chicken salad. Very tasty as I usually don't like anything chicken. Dessert was the chocolate cheesecake - also don't usually eat cheesecake (ex wife tried to kill me with cheesecake!). Waitstaff was great. Management stopped by the table to check too! IF I had a concern it would be time spent in the restaurant. It was at an hour to get food and another hour plus before checking out. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a problem for us. The food absolutely delicious, and fresh. You can tell the presentation and quality of the food they serve is very important to them. Our server Austin was great, he was very attentive and thorough with the experience. Making sure our table was cleared, our drinks were full and seemed genuinely happy to serve us. This was our first time visiting, and unfortunately, it didn't go well. We had a reservation, but walk-ins who came in after us were seated first. One of our group had to step in and ask the hostess to seat us. Once seated, we waited 30 minutes without service until someone from our party asked who our server was -- it still took another 10 minutes after that for anyone to show up. Even then, the hostess had to tell the waiter which tables were theirs. We ended up sitting in a booth for two hours before our food arrived. First, we had the best waitstaff young lady. AT Washington, Il location. All the food was delish, the beer selection was good and all in our party of 7 was very satisfied. I would say it was a pleasurable experience. Our server (older lady, first name started with E) was a little off (overall 1). Asked for water, never got it...ordered an appetizer, never got it...wanted dessert but was presented the check instead. The food was good. I ordered the BBQ burger medium rare...it came well done, but still very good. My wife had fish and chips and they were good as well (overall 4). Not sure we will be back...service is so important I find it surprising the owners would invest so much into a classy place, have good menu items and craft beers...but then hire unmotivated servers. Food quality poor, food served luke warm, asked for heated up potatoes and they brought me another luke warm mashed potatoes; chicken over cooked and dry, salmon was not cooked well, fish was soggy inside, frittes were cold, no soup spoon provided for soup with dish; food was tasteless and bland. The positives were the pimento pub cheese, very yummy and pretzel was good too. So wanted to like the experience, but it was a fail. Menu listed Grilled Shrimp Salad but there was nothing in the description stating that the shrimp were coated with a spicy either chipolte or blackened seasoning. Had there been any indication that the shrimp would be spicy I would have chosen a different item. Of the four of us in our party only one person actually liked what we ordered. My husband had a burger which was delicious. Beware of how you order doneness. He ordered medium and it was dripping pink. I had a lemon shake up. My husband had one of their beers.
