    Flight of beer

To start, the inside feels very empty and has almost no decor. The service was very nice and helped a bit with trying to decide on what to order. Only pick i have with it was with how empty the restaurant was and waited a bit longer than probably should have. Just about everything else was very good. The beers offered were great and could definitely have a good time with friends ordering drinks. With the food, the cheese curds were very similar to most other places. I felt like the French Dip sandwich was bland and only got any flavor when dipped in the Au Jus. The burgers however were easily the best part of the meal. Cooked perfectly and the has plenty of flavor from seasoning and the aioli. The regular fries came out room temp and bland however the truffle fries at no additional cost for a side were very good and came out hot. Prices could be a little higher than what some people want to pay but for good beers and great burgers, would come back to when visiting home.

The food was amazing, i ate almost all of it. The only reason I didn't eat it all is because i was so full. The waitress was very nice and made the experience better, and the (manager i think) walked around talking to everyone. It was also very pretty, and you could see the whole square including the fountain from where we were sitting. We went on the rooftop and played bags and there were 2 people sitting by a fireplace. It reminded me of the restaurant i went to in new york city, and i loved that one, so consider this place luxurious. WHO GAVE THIS A 3 STAR AVERAGE?! (patrick r count your days on yelp) Also it was loud but that's because it was busy. And it was busy because this place is amazing so everyone wants to be there.

Let's get to the root of the issue. Emily and I have been wanting to try this place out since they opened. I know quite a few people who have gone in the few months since they've been open and have heard a wide variety of reviews on the place, but that doesn't deter me from trying a place out as I usually have a great time at most places I go... The staff was super nice and friendly and the restaurant-side of things wasn't too busy. We were trying to beat the dinner crowd and did just that. The waitress took awhile but when she showed up, she was amazingly friendly. We ordered waters and eventually were able to order some flights and food. For how slow it was, the waitress didn't stop by at a normal frequency as most other establishments, so placing the initial flight order and then food order took longer than normal. After about 10 minutes, our flights came out. I had peeked at their beer menu at work and saw too many tasty-sounding things to try, so I got the four items listed under Hoppy on the beer menu. Emily got her usual fruity/sour beers. I didn't care much for the Midwest Emo but the other beers were okay. Wasn't really preferring one over the other, but that could also be my taste preference. Emily liked most of her beers and ordered another Sunkisser as she was in love with that one. At last, our food came out and we were ready to dive in. First fry in, I knew there was a problem. My fries weren't cold but feel like they got cold and then re-heated under a warmer. They just had no life to them. A room-temp french fry is such a disappointment to eat. I debated saying something to the waitress, but she wasn't around too much, and I just didn't have an appetite for a whole other batch. I was also disappointed in the size of the Halfway to Nashville. It was no bigger than a large sand dollar. I think I had it mostly gone after 6 bites. Not only that but there was some mustard on it and I am not the biggest fan of mustard. It's listed as a frittes aioli. It didn't detract much from an otherwise unremarkable sandwich but definitely didn't add much. On the plus side, Emily's fries were hot, fresh, and tasted pretty decent. Not much flavor despite the seasoning but unoffensive overall. Emily was enjoying her food but was disappointed in the fact that her grilled cheese looked more like a toasted cheese. For it being a grilled cheese, it looked like the bread was heated up in a toaster. Other than that, Emily's meal was gouda. The price was a bit high for this place, in my opinion. For the two meals, two flights and a beer, the total was $70. Yikes. I really hate being so negative and down on a place. I know that some of the things were on me (not loving the beer flavors, not knowing what frittes aioli is, and not getting replacement fries. But the overall experience left so much to be desired. Emily and I both agreed that we would like to come back and try the upstairs outdoor patio. Maybe when the weather cools off and my aversion to this place dies down a bit. The BBQ Brewmaster Burger on the menu did sound pretty good. Despite that all, I know Emily wants to try and check out their other locations at some point.

Why all the low reviews? How is the local Dairy Queen getting higher ratings, people are silly, this place is fantastic! Even more obvious how busy it was our Saturday evening, us guys waited over an hour then nearly another hour to be eating by the time we ordered drinks, apps, and mains. This is an ideal small town estate of top tier kitchen craft and drafts beyond expectations. Ended up with three flights trying most of the menu, that blackberry wheat is award worthy but oddly more hoppy in the can we discovered later. The chocolate dark stout had me good. Apricot, tangerine, banana and clove, there is so many sweet treats to sip! Cannot wait to come back, sure the staff was overwhelmed and frantic most the time with so many dining in and the rain keeping the open balcony patio closed. Take your time, browse all the good goodies the menu offers, dream about the skillet cookie and tiramisu, it is all here. Seems the only apps worth trying are nachos and biscuits which helped keep our costs down considering those three flights, an Honest Abe, and the two desserts we turned fro dreams to reality at the end. That vanilla syrup in the Honest Abe, oh my! Good stuff, every small village center needs one of these craft kitchens to ensure citizen sanity and prove that mainstream beers named lite are more water than ale! The nachos were fantastic, cease and desist burger exquisite, my carne asada tacos small and a bit tough but full of tasty tastes, and nothing was left even the small fries disappeared. This is the Eureka Pickled Radish with more value and a brewery to match the best of the Midwest.

French dip sandwich was disappointing, flavorless and really overpriced at $21 with a side of fries or chips. Rooftop bar is still nice to enjoy a summer evening and the only place to do that in Washington. Selection of craft brews is ok but they often sell out of a good number of them.

Indifferent. Pimento cheese appetizer was delicious! Entrees were just okay. Service was good but something's missing with the vibe compared to Ottawa. Upstairs was a huge turnoff. At least get some.more tables or something. Even cocktail tables! Hope it gets better

I took my three adult children to eat at Tangled Roots on Friday two weeks ago. We had reservations. What an impressive restaurant and choice location. Each of us had a different dish. We all loved what we ordered. Carne Asada Vampire Taco. Halfway To Nashville chicken. French Dip. Chicken Parmesan. The side salad was fresh and crisp. Our server was attentive and conversational. We had such a wonderful experience my wife and I took our daughter back a week later! Highly recommend.

We got the Reuben and the Beer and Whiskey Burger. Both with sides of fries. The burger was the worst! It was definitely overcooked, and dry AF! The bottom bun was burnt. Worst of all there was no Bourbon glaze which was a bummer because it wasn't seasoned ...not one bit!! The Reuben wasn't actually bad, the thick cut corned beef was yummy but the bread was also over toasted. The fries were good as was the side of ranch for a dip. We ordered a side of pickles for the Reuben but they came when the sandwich was nearly gone and only when we reminded the waitress which didn't circle back like normal to see how we were doing and check to see if things were good. Now here's the part that was wild. There were only 2 tables 3 people at one and 2 people at the other. As others mentioned we waited almost 15 minutes after being ready to order and about 40 minutes for food to show up! OTHERS HAVE SAID THIS!! OWNERS PAY ATTENTION!! To me this seems like you couldn't care less! We didn't take pics because the food was unremarkable but I'll share pics of the building. I would skip this place for food unless you got time and money to spare as the average menu item was $16. Even the scotch eggs were $14 for 2!!!! Which we didn't get, because screw that $14 for 2 eggs? No thanks!

Far away enough from the craziness of the college campus and downtown bars but still not too far away. They have events and food trucks, so there's some good times to be had. My husband each got our own flights (see pictured). We loved all 8 of the beers that we got, but here were our 4 favorites: 1. #3 Malo Pina Colada Wheat, 2. #1 Holey Jeans Blueberry Wheat with a sugar rimmed glass, 3. #11 Love is Love Orange Guava Passionfruit Hard Seltzer, and 4. #7 Cornfuzed Corn Ale. There was not a bad beer and there were several more we would have loved to try. We ended up getting a 4 pack of the Hokey Jeans because the Malo was sold out. Bust'd Brewing busted me out of winter boredom with some beer and board games…read more Ever since I heard about Bust'd Brewing open up in Peoria Heights, I knew I'd end up there eventually and the time finally came. Emily and I both agreed that going out for a drink sounded good and I asked if she wanted to check out Bust'd and she said yup. We rolled up on a Friday night around 6pm and the place wasn't too busy. There was a couple couples in there so we grabbed a beer and took a seat and started playing some games. A coworker told me about Shut the Box and funny enough, it was on the table and we played quite a few rounds as we worked on our first beer. Emily's first beer was the That One Coach and my first one was the Cattails. I usually really enjoy hefeweizens but this one felt a bit flat. It lacked the banana and vanilla punch I am used to them having. It was good, don't get me wrong but didn't hit quite like hefeweizens usually hit. Emily said she really enjoyed her beer. I tried it but brown ales are not my cup of... beer. Once we switched to playing Anarchy Pancakes, we grabbed another beer. This time Emily got the Trailblazer and I got the Hazy not Hazy. I jokingly said the Hazy should be called Hazy not Crazy and the bartender (who I think might be one of the owners?) laughed and said she liked that. I told her she could use it for a future beer, free of charge. As we grabbed our beers, a family came in and took over the other half the big table we were at, so we hopped onto a 4-top to enjoy our new beer and new game. I really liked the Hazy not Hazy. Emily liked hers and we both wished that we would've gotten our 2nd choice for both our beers. The interior of the brewery is really nice. A lot of wood throughout and the place was brightly lit. This brewery is located in an old Subway building so if it looks like every other Subway out there, that is why. On the backside of the building is where The Other Dawg was located years ago. It is a bit small inside so if they are busy or are hosting an event, it could get crowded quick in there. They have a giant Connect Four and a plentiful board game collection to enjoy while you are there. I absolutely love that these social establishments are providing fun stuff to do and providing a place for people to gather and socialize. As we were paying our tab, I picked up a t-shirt and some stickers. The shirt was $25 (I think) and the stickers were $1 each. Emily grabbed a beer opener for $5. In hindsight, I wish I would've gotten a beer opener, too. Not just to support a local business but they were pretty good quality, too. If you need a social spot to grab some beer and space to play some board games, Bust'd Brewing should make your list. They also have a ton of events to attend if that's more your thing. Cheers!
