    Egg rolls

Seemed to be only one waitress handling the entire restaurant during peak Saturday lunch, we jumped in just in time before the rush and nabbed a nice table between the bar and gambling room. Noticed a good menu of daily specials, quite decent prices but some appetizers were hilariously expensive, why are corn nuggets often an eight dollar starter? It's corn! Our waitress turned up in ten minute increments then fifteen as larger groups arrived. Was curious how a good menu didn't provide more staff to serve it which got me even more stuck seeing she forgot to give me my three egg rolls for eight something but charged me for individual prices making it twelve. I couldn't wait another fifteen minutes to fix the error. Thankful the corned beef roll and southwest were tasty but small, taco egg roll was tiny and missing taco toppings. I guess little bars like this aren't the place to try fusion food despite my addiction for smashing cuisines together: my buddy's fried chicken horseshoe looked fantastic and heard no complaints. Another friend mentioned to us later he enjoys the chicken sandwiches here. Difficult to say if most of the menu skimps on value, holds back flavors, but like most small drink dives, I bet there's a handful of menu wins that put this as a top pick for those who know.

Second time here...love the hamburger. Thick and excellent. Highly recommend. This is the type of place I wished I lived near. A few regulars, cold beer and good food.

    The wings are my favorite.

I absolutely love Bellevue Tap. Great Bartenders, and the food is great. Always comes out piping hot. You get a ton of fries and the cheese sauce is to die for. -Craig

I had the brisket…read moresandwich, and really like the take they have on the sandwich: grilled onions and a horseradish sauce make it a really unique sandwich. The fries came out hot and crispy. Our waitress was attentive without being pushy and overbearing. It's also in a cool old building on the waterfront. All together, this is a place I need to try a lot more!

The wife and I were in town for a wedding, and I'd read some good reviews about the Blue Duck…read moreBarbecue Tavern. We dropped in for dinner on a cold Tuesday evening about 6:30pm. Not real busy, but I did notice that there seemed to be several "Door Dash" pickups while we ate dinner. We had good service. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 1/2 rack ribs (4 stars), 1/2lb Brisket (3 1/2 stars), Brunswick stew (4 1/2 starts), and Chili Con Carnie (5 stars). The house made barbecue sauce was the highlight of the meal (5 Stars). The ribs were very good and fell off the bone. The sauce made them exceptional. Brisket was tasty, but a little dry for my wife's liking. In hindsight, we probably should have ordered the brisket "chopped". The waitress indicated that the "chopped" brisket was more "fatty". The Chili Con Carnie was very very good. Not something that you see at a Barbeque place often. I highly recommend. The key lime pie was very tasty and better than what you get at most places. Although not quite exceptional. Worth a try though. Overall, we liked the Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. Great location and lots of character. Very good ribs, excellent homemade barbeque sauce.

Review Visit: February 17th, 2015…read more Silver Bullet in name only. There are no werewolf threats here! In fact, they don't sell anything gun related. Just yum related. Silver Bullet is a nickname for Coors Light. Which, in talking to friends, used to be hard to come by in this area back in the day. So maybe this place is named as a tribute to that beer? The Silver Bullet has been in East Peoria for as long as I know. As a kid, I remember this place being here, because I would visit the Co-Op Store next door (music store) to pick up some cds and music memorabilia. It was called Silver Bullet, Too at one point, but I am unaware if there was a second location. Once my friends and I turned 21, we started to visit this place, so the Initial Date is a bit misleading. My friends and I have been here many times before and after the photo you see above. Each time has been a great memory filled with deliciously cheap food, great drinks and a friendly staff. My friend Maria and I actually spent NYE 2016 here, counting in 2017 and despite it being slow in the bar, we had a blast. So what does the Silver Bullet offer? Well it has really good bar food at bar prices. I would actually come here with an ex-girlfriend just to get a good meal and shoot the breeze for a few hours. It has slots, a pool table or two, slots and some golf gaming machine. I will say that what I expected was a dumpy/low key bar since it's in a strip of stores and the outside is kind of plain. But once you step in, it almost has a restaurant feel as it is more upscale and everything is in really great shape. There is even a Beer Garden/Patio that you can go out and enjoy your beers while smoking or taking in the great Illinois weather. Sorry, this blog post has been all over the place. To me, Silver Bullet is like a real life Cheers bar. Just a fun and friendly place to go for some food and libations. So if you need a good bite and are in East Peoria for some reason, check out Silver Cheers... I mean Silver Bullet for an enjoyable time... Unless you are a werewolf! Hoooowwwwllllll!
