Review Visit: February 18th, 2015 You can have a schooner while on a Schooner! That word gets silly looking after you type it a few times. A schooner is a tall glass of beer and it is also a big ship with two or more masts. So you could, in theory, have a beer while on a ship. I think I have a new bucket list item! I have drove by this place many times and finally tried it out! I was split on whether it should be labeled a Bar/Pub or a Restaurant since it is a fine split on what it is, but a Restaurant is what it shall be labeled. So I have been here twice as of this writing. One visit was with a friend for a beer/burger lunch and the other time was with other times. On the lunch visit, my friend and I got a burger and beer to enjoy during lunch. I don't remember much about the burger, which is a good sign that it wasn't bad, but it didn't floor me, so I would say it did it's job of filling me up without disappointing me. The second visit was a full dinner with some friends. I think I got the burger again, which was great but nothing to write home about. Each time I have gone, we have had great service with a friendly staff. If I recall right, there isn't much nautical stuff inside, despite the name referring to a ship term. The interior is more of a normal pub feel. It has some sports and alcohol memorabilia up on the wall. Now the cool secret about this place is that it is attached to Gebby's Family Restaurant. From what I am told, Gebby serves breakfast and early lunch. Then they shut down and Schooner's takes over the lunch and dinner portion of the day. I will be doing a blog post for Gebby's here soon! Schooner's has pretty good food and is a friendly place to go. You wouldn't be disappointed if you and some friends swung by to catch some brews and sports while eating Now if you are fun, you could try and have a schooner while ON a Schooner. But if you can't, you can at least have a schooner IN Schooner's! Close enough, right?!

great experience we did the outdoor seating on a pleasant afternoon even with the outdoor seating our server was very attentive to our needs. The food came out quickly and the beer was ice cold. We ordered an appetizer of corn fritters to our surprise they where coated with powder sugar which is different but to be honest it was really good next we moved on to the entree I had to go with the Pork Tenderloin because after all they are famous for it and I will tell you it didn't disappoint big enough for 2 or in my case leftovers since I didn't want to share. The hubby did a burger with a side of onion rings he was pleased with his meal

Service and food were very good! Look forward to coming there again, tenderloin could definitely feed 4 people! If you have kids that's a good choice!

On our way back from camping and we checked ratings on yelp..Found this easy on easy off interstate destination. It is bar and grill on half and a family breakfast restaurant on the other. We ate at a charming outdoor patio. Our wait staff was so friendly. I ordered a tenderloin sandwich and it was unbelievable. The rest had burgers and a Reuben all 5 star quality. The combo platter with incredible onion rings did not disappoint. Worth the stop. Cheers to the staff for an incredible experience.

Really good bar food with large portions. Cold beer. Good atmosphere to sit outside in the summer and eat.

The restaurant was empty when we showed up so we were immediately sat and helped by our waitress Grace! She was so friendly and attentive which made our experience so nice: The food was your typical bar food, well priced and really good! Nothing next level but I was really happy with it. Unfortunately the only thing that fell short for me was the drink, they were all pretty much too strong to enjoy, and very acidic. But other than that it was amazing!

Although they were understaffed at the time (2 serving, one of which was the bartender, no host either), they were honest from the start that they would do their best, and the staff were still awesome! Our host/server, Kate was great! She checked in with us as best as she could, very apologetic about the situation, but never lost her energy and still great attitude towards her job, cheers to you and your team! In terms of the food - was very worth the wait. I haven't had fish and chips in a while, from most restaurants, and this was their Friday special. So happy I got it! The grilled lemon was a great add to freshen up the dish, the seafood was moist under the batter and just melts in your mouth. Also, that tartar sauce? Really good! It wasn't too sour/tangy. It complimented the fish with lemon juice taste. Fries were crisp too! Also, beer prices were good, note a crazy price hike. Thanks for a great service y'all! Keep up the great work!

Review Visit: July 24th, 2016…read more Beer, arcade games and friends. My kind of place. Growing up, I got involved in playing video games thanks to my father and friends. Everything from Atari to Sega Genesis to Super Nintendo to Gameboy; everything in-between and everything after. Once I was legally allowed to enjoy adult beverages, I grew to enjoy beer a few years later. Shortly after, 8 Bit opened up. Having a lifelong love for video games and a recently acquired taste for beer, I gathered a few of my nerdy friends up and headed that way. 8 Bit is a pretty unique place. It's a bar that is also an arcade. It looks like a normal business situated at the end of a building but inside is a different story. Upon walking, you get the feeling you are in a house. You have some stairs that lead up to... somewhere. Off to the right of the entrance is the smallish bar. Between the bar tables and the machines, it can get pretty packed with just a handful of people. As you deviate from the bar, you'll find yourself in a hallway that has one machine at the end on the left, that is tucked under the stairs. Next to that is a room that full of 6-8 games (it could vary, I am not sure). Going back in to the hallway, you'll find the next room down on the left. That room is L-shaped and has maybe 12 games in it. At the end of the hallway, are the bathrooms. All the games are free to play as long as you are ordering drinks and spending money. Instead of loading your pockets full of quarters, you just have to load your belly up with beer. A fair trade off in my opinion. The beercade has a nice beergarden to enjoy. On my first visit here, my friends and I ordered a few drinks and headed outside to play some Pokemon Go. After polishing off my beer, I noticed there was a window in which you could order beer from the bar through. That is exactly what I did. I ordered another beer through the window. I thought that was pretty cool. While we were there playing Pokemon Go, another group of people came in and was playing Pokemon Go. We noticed they were playing as we kept battling for the Gym that was located nearby. At one point, that group sent someone out to spy on us as we battled for the gym. After noticing the other group was taking this too serious, we decided to close the app, head inside and play the arcade games. The selection of arcade games is about your standard fare. There are your usual games but they also had a few games I've never seen before. We played games for a bit longer before heading out. Now, this wasn't my only time I have come here. Ever since this visit, I have been back a few times with various other friends. Each visit has been unique. The first time I went, they offered food. The subsequent visits had no food options due to law changes. The last time I went was in late 2019 and they had this sweet system set up at the bar. It was operated with some aftermarket SNES controller and had almost every retro game available. My friend Nate and I spent more time browsing the catalog than gaming. It was such a sweet system and I wish I had it at home. 8 Bit has expanded to a second location in Bloomington, IL. I have yet to check it out but it is on my short list of places to visit. I feel like it's my duty as a gamer to check out not just the 2nd location but all beercades across the world. If you have the chance to check one out, you don't even need to be a gamer to enjoy these kinds of places.
