A former chiropractor office, former pizza place, and now turned coffeehouse, I think Kickabrew Coffee has found its home. It has a rustic and warm feel immediately upon entering. There's a real fireplace to the left, an upstairs seating space where one can enjoy drinks and watch cars and people go by at the downtown main intersection, and a back room with additional seating including a comfy looking couch. The employees were helpful and friendly. I ordered their large hot macchiato. It was very good. They have many specialty drinks and flavors including slushies and ice cream floats. I plan to return before heading south for the winter. Give them a try!

Review Visit: December 5th, 2021 You'll kick yourself if you don't get the waffee to go with your coffee. One of the perks of having friends who drive around for a living is that they discover places a lot sooner than I would. That is exactly what happened with Kickabrew Coffee. My friend Maria mentioned it while we were at the Coffee Can and we made plans to check it out the following week. We made plans to get there right when they opened to avoid any crowds and to have first pick on where to sit. Well, that didn't go quite as planned. We got there right when they opened (Maria and Jenn a few minutes before open and me a few minutes after) and there was already a line forming to get in. Even being a few minutes late, I was astounded that there was still a line when I walked in. I decided to hang out with my friends until the line died down a bit. After about 10 minutes, I realized the line wasn't going to disappear, so I hopped up and took my place amongst the other caffeine-deprived folk. While I was sitting down, my friends mentioned something about being able to order a waffle on a stick. I didn't see that on the menu but I did see a 'waffee and a coffee' for $6. I figured maybe it was a typo but upon hearing the workers all it that, I decided that it really was called that. I asked if the coffee that comes with the combo can be modified for an upcharge; the cashier said I would have to order them separately since I was actually wanting a hot caramel latte with my 'waffee'. That was fine as the few extra bucks it cost would help a local business. They had some stickers for $2, so I snagged one of those to put on my guitar case. The waffee comes in multiple flavors and today's was 'Cinnamon Toast'. The wait for my drink was rather lengthy. They had plenty of people working. There was someone on 'waffee' duty (or so I assume), someone working the espresso machine, one person making the drinks and a few others helping out in other places. The wait was due to just being so busy. I think my friends were getting impatient since I was waiting for my order while they sat with their drinks at this little table we were scrunched around. All that waiting paid off. They gave me my waffee early and when it came time to give me my drink, they gave me another waffee. I told them that I already got one and didn't want to double dip. The lady was super nice and said I could keep the second one if I wanted. Since Jenn brought her niece, I said I would give her the extra. Finally, I sat down on this little seat and dug in to my waffee. Oh, man. I wasn't expecting much. Just a waffle with some toppings but that thing was super delicious. It had gotten a bit cold as I waited for my latte but that didn't affect it any. It was gone before I knew it. My taste buds were in heaven but I was sad it was gone so quick. With it being a rainy and dreary day, I grabbed my latte to lament the quick consumption of the waffee. The top 1/5 of my latte was a nice frothy foam that paired well with the aftertaste lingering in my mouth. After I slowly sipped that down, I got to the heart of the latte. There is about a million different ways to prepare a drink. This one was made in such a way that it felt like I was drinking a really thick, really rich hot cocoa. While it was delicious and each sip was consistently full of frothy goodness, it needed some water on the side to help wash down that sugar-y-ness. Still, when the cup was emptied, I was then lamenting the disappearance of both the waffee and latte. At the time of this blog post, Kickabrew had been open for about a month according to Maria. The interior was your standard '20s coffee place. Lots of wood. Lots of rustic-feeling stuff. All meshed with stuff from the hometown. There was an upstairs loft area but it was jam packed when we arrived that we didn't even get to check it out. On the ground floor where we sat, there was a giant window where you could watch them make their beans/grounds. Maria said they do that on Mondays. Might have to come back to check that out and grab another waffee while I am at it. If you like to try new coffee places like me, definitely add this one to your list. P.S. - As I sit here, I can't help but wonder if it was originally just called a 'waffle' but came out as 'waffee' due to a typo and it just stuck. Whatever it's supposed to be called, I need to try them dipped in a coffee next time I go.

Asked for iced vanilla matcha latte. Instead was given an iced vanilla latte. Very sad, wanted matcha to start my morning. Morning ruined.

I had waffee of the day (banana flavored) and iced latte and both were too good! I would definitely be going back.

Best new coffee spot in the central illinois area. A highlight in the middle of a small-town-America town!

Caffeine is not a good way to regulate your heart rate…read more Having driven by Regulator Roasting Company a million times since they opened, it was only natural for them to expand over to the other side of the building when the space came open. I'm not sure the exact date of them serving coffee to the public (that wasn't just beans in a bag) but I knew I would have to try it out sooner rather than later and that day finally came. Maria and I rolled in at around 10am and were greeted by the owner, who was extremely friendly and even more extremely knowledgeable about coffee and all the nuances of it. I'll admit that I know nothing about coffee except that I like drinking it. So, it was cool to hear Maria and the owner talk about espressos and various other aspects to drinks that I never think about. Anywho, I ordered an Americano and the owner asked how strong I wanted it. I told him to surprise me. Maria ordered a macchiato and ended up getting some espresso on the side to boost it up as she was feeling pretty tired. I picked up the tab for us and just for our two drinks, it was only $7 and change. Our drinks were $3 a piece and with her flavoring, that was only $0.50. I haven't seen prices this cheap since maybe around the time I started visiting coffeehouses. Granted the cup was maybe only 12-15 ounces and there seems to be the one size... it's still a heck of a deal. The interior was open and sparse. It could accommodate maybe 7-10 people before it felt crowded. But with the limited parking space that's shared a bit with the neighboring building, that's probably for the best. There wasn't too much foot traffic despite the incredible weather but I think that'll change once the warm weather kicks in for the season. At the time of my visit, the roast master admitted that he is still tweaking his drinks so if you make multiple trips, you may find your drink of choice has changed subtly here and there. Not that someone like me would notice the nuances! If you need a cheap caffeine hit and want to avoid the big names in coffee, give Regulator's a shot. I hope this one does gangbusters as East Peoria is severely lacking a hometown coffee place.

Specialty coffee shop that knows their beans, offering hot and iced espresso and drip drinks alike (including a Red Eye that mixes both!). Review Visit: August 8th, 2016…read more A coffeehouse in Illinois. You know I had to go there and you know I would have to blog about it! What to say about Innkeeper's. Mostly positive things! My friend Tim and I popped in here to grab a drink and explore some more of Galesburg, IL. The outside of the building is quaint, but once you step inside, it's cozy and bright. I offered to buy the drinks for us and we ordered the same thing. I have ordered the same thing many times at other places (Iced Caramel Latte) and am used to what the average price is. Come to my surprise when my total for two drinks was about $12-$14. Usually I get a small or a medium, but they must've rang me up for the largest size they had, hint the crazy high price. But man, was it delicious and made me want more. Overall, I would come back again. They have a nice staff, it's bright and happy on the inside, they have a cool mural in the middle of the store and the coffee is delicious.
