Blueberry pie
Eli T.

Found this place on Yelp when I was craving some homemade pie. Absolutely loved the selection of pie options they have to offer. I had to go with my favorite which is blueberry, accompanied by a latte. There were so many latte options to choose from it was hard to make a choice but I was glad to find that they offer sugar free hazelnut and caramel as options. Place was slammed but service was very fast, and seating was ample. Loved the comfortable chairs and couches that they have! Great place will be back for more!

Where in the world am I.... Just inside the middle of the middle of no where this delightful coffee shop lives. Very clean cute interior good for gatherings or studying/ working. Large with two rooms and an outdoor spot. There is breakfast and lunch served here.... Oh and I think they have pie ;) We had the cherry salad and the ham sandwich on the pretzel bun. They both were very good. Add a slice of blackberry lemon and peach pie and we were set. The service here was great! I left My purse accidentally and they had it up front when I came back! Thank you

Love love love this restaurant. I discovered common grounds three years ago on a road trip and have been returning for breakfast or lunch whenever I'm heading to Peoria. They have a great variety of coffee and loose leaf tea drink specialities and the best homemade pie slices imaginable. This trip I had a lunch special of their Italian ice box sandwich which was super unique and came with bacon and cheddar soup and macaroni salad. I finished the meal with a slice of lemonade blackberry pie and finished it before I had a chance to take a photo.

Brisket over Mac

Everything is great about Common Grounds. The service was impeccable, the workers were friendly, they've got plenty of seating space both inside and outside, the coffee was great and priced fairly, the bakery items are made fresh daily, the pies are delicious (I recommend the kuchen), and their breakfast and lunch items are fantastic. I had the brisket over mac for lunch, which was honestly some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the béchamel sauce was rich and creamy. I was afraid it wouldn't be worth its price, but after trying it I can say it was well worth it.

Common Grounds offers a contemporary, yet 'country casual', atmosphere for enjoying some of the best coffee, pie, and breakfast treats.

Common Grounds you are a treasure...an oasis on Rt 24! Imagine beautifully, local-roasted beans that yield a rich, smooth cup of coffee that rivals any you've had. Add to that delicious breakfast treats - quiches, casseroles, and pastries - that taste and look as though they came from your grandma's farmhouse kitchen. Yeah, they're that good. Well, that's the Common Grounds experience that awaits you. On my only visit as I headed to Peoria, I enjoyed a bottomless cup of coffee ($2.75) and the ham & Swiss quiche. Just wonderful - a real taste of breakfast 'down on the farm'. I then couldn't help myself and order three pieces of pie 'to go': pecan, pecan chocolate bourbon, and strawberry rhubarb. Again, each was wonderful and reminiscent of grandma's own (assuming your grandmother, like mine, was a real artist in the kitchen). Way to go Common Grounds, I look forward to many more visits.

Common Grounds is killing it! I love what Katrina has done to transform this building into an amazing little coffee shop. With great drinks and great food, Common Ground is a must-visit if you are even close to Gridley. I'm so excited that this coffee shop exists in Gridley. At long last, finally we have a place to hang out, see friends, drink coffee, and eat food! The interior of the shop is super unique, with creative decorations and plenty of seating. There is an extra room for special events as well. A couple of my favorite things that Katrina has done is 1.) During Christmas time, she had Christmas cards from families all over the community hanging on the wall, and 2.) She has a cork board where someone can "pay-it-forward" by pre-purchasing a drink or a piece of pie for a specific person to redeem the next time they're in the shop. Katrina really did a fantastic job of creating a modern and welcoming vibe for all. Personally, I hope that she will sell cold brew soon:) Love this place!

Peach Pie

It was the 4th time I've been and was by far the worst experience. We started w oysters and they were great--both kinds. My kids and I ordered iced teas and got glasses full of ice w a little bit of really watery iced tea. Next were the fries--pretty good but the "aioli" was just mayo w a dash of lemon -- diff than last time. The carrots were also pretty good, but the flavors didn't all come together. We asked for a refill on iced tea and were told "the bar just 86'd iced tea for the night". ??The restaurant seemed discombobulated. The lamb ribs were cooked really well but didn't have much flavor. Our waiter never came by 1x to ask about or food, and when clearing plates never wiped up spilled food from the table. Had high hopes for the main entrees (lemon pasta and halibut w beurre blanc). All of our entrees came to the table lukewarm. The lemon pasta was oily and a little clumpy and didn't taste great. The halibut was overcooked and the beurre blanc had little to no taste. Super disappointing. If this was the first time I had been there I wouldn't go back.

We couldn't have picked a better spot. We were seated immediately and notice the place was filled with mainly locals. Our server stopped by right away to take our drink order and ask us if we had any questions. She was so nice, so friendly, offered great recommendations and was fun to talk to. Mr. Bee ordered the Monte Cristo Wrap and I tried the house made veggie burger. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot. The Monte Cristo Wrap was really quite good and had a lot of nice flavors and was seasoned well. My veggie burger was different but delicious. It was also seasoned well and I managed to eat every last bite and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered a side of Fried Mac and Cheese and it too was very different than what you would expect. The mac and cheese is not shaped into balls, battered and fried. They take their mac and cheese and smash it down on the grill to cook it. So good. It had lots of crispy bits on it. The food was fresh and really well cooked. The place is like an old fashioned diner and friendly service with a smile. The atmosphere was fun, and everyone seemed friendly and were enjoying their meals. We were full, but when our server came by and said we have fresh made pies, Mr. Bee jumped on that bandwagon. We got a piece of coconut cream pie to go. We stopped in the park in the middle of the square where there are a few benches and picnic tables. We enjoyed our pie, it was scrumptious while enjoying the beautiful sunny day.

It's a pretty casual place that's better than it looks. Can get crowded but things ran smoothly last time in. The food is basic diner stuff with a few better things. A popular place for the local residents to gather. It's one of the many local bars and restaurants around here. This seems to be one of the better ones. Has the main dining area. While waiting for an order go check out the back with the gaming area to play slots. It's $2.50 for domestic beers. That's good. It's about $7 for appetizers. The Pretzel Bites are the best of these. Fluffy and comes with a dipping sauce, choice of beer cheese or something else. The rest of the menu features classics like breakfast including eggs, omelets, and toast, and lunch has things like burgers, fish, and pasta. For sure it's a place for locals as well as tourists looking for classic diners and grills. It's got a lot of various memorabilia. They're closed Sundays.

The Knight and The Bible…read more On a drive up to Chicago to catch a vacation flight, we stopped at The Cup and The Scone to get us caffeinated for the rest of the drive. We got there about 30 minutes before close and the barista was super nice as we ordered our drinks. Emily got a caramel latte and I got the.. you guessed it... an iced americano. We also grabbed a blueberry-lemon, cranberry-orange, and birthday cake scone. While we stood there as the barista was making our drinks, we chatted her up a bit and we were able to get a few free stickers from her. She said they don't use them all too much and was happy to give us two each. Once we got our drinks, we took off to the upper part of the coffeehouse and promised we wouldn't be too long since they were closing soon. Before we headed upstairs, I took some photos with the suit of armor that is by the counter. When we got upstairs, I was surprised to see another suit of armor, so I took a photo with that one, too. The Cup and The Scone specializes in a lot of gluten-free products and a small bit of religion. I don't know if their entire menu is gluten-free but as someone who's mom is gluten sensitive (and I will probably be at some point), the care about GI issues is great. As for the religious stuff, if you don't see the occasion bible strewn about the place, you'd honestly never know. But, their website seems to support helping people and I think that also is super great as this world is getting rough and scary. Any who, Emily and I really enjoyed our drinks. The americano hit all the right notes and Emily was delighted with her latte. We were split on the scones. I really liked the birthday cake while she really liked the cranberry-orange while we both thought the blueberry-lemon was just alright. We held true to our promise and dipped out before 2pm and hit the road. If I find myself in Pontiac for some reason in the future, The Cup and The Scone will definitely be my spot to get some americanos.

The decor really makes this spot, with lots of fun themed signs throughout the restaurant. This definitely gives it a different and more fun vibe than the average coffee house and the upstairs loft is cozy to hangout in as well. The coffee flavors and preparation are quite good here -- flavorful, and made with high quality ingredients. I also enjoyed the mini scones, with a nice texture that was soft but a little more firm than a muffin. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're in Pontiac. Great vibe and delicious food.
