An assortment of the pastries I bought.

Cinnamon Roll: Sweetness of the frosting balances out the roll well. 8/10 Glazed Scone: Meh. Too thick for my liking. A little too dry, even for a scone. 4/10 Hazelnut Chocolate Muffin: Dry. 4/10 Chocolate Chip Cookie: You could type in "chocolate chip cookie" into Google, mindlessly click on the first recipe result you see, make them, and they would be better than these. 2/10 Double Chocolate Cookie: Cookie flavor was nice and chocolately. Frosting was a little too sweet for my liking. 6/10 Sugar Cookie: Frosting was, again, a little too sweet but synergized nicely with the cookie. 8/10

We stopped here to pick up dessert for our afternoon coffee. Service was good. Items all looked tasty. I went with the blueberry muffin. Good choice.

For what it is, this bakery does a good job. It looks like a cute place to indulge in sweets with a friend. The prices are reasonable. I paid about $6 for two cookies and a muffin. As for quality, they're fine. I would say that they're about the level of what you'd expect for a run of the mill coffee shop. Unless you're particularly picky, they will do for a sweets craving. Not quite up to an OMG I will drive out of my way to get this level, but they're tasty enough. Worth a stop if you happen to be in the area and don't just want to get a pack of cookies from a grocery store.

This cute Blakey is pumping out so yummy cookies! I believe they rotate the selection but my fav was cherry thumbprint looking cookie. Our selection was all very good though. Very open space to get a cookie, cup of Joe, and relax.

Ivy Lane bakery was so cute! When you walk in, it looks like you are walking into grandma's kitchen. The chairs are miss matched and they have cute little plate ware. I was in a fall mood, so I went in for a cup of coffee and a seasonal pastry. The attendant behind the counter was super nice. She was attentive and helped me immediately. I ordered the pumpkin muffin. It was very good! Super moist and flavorful. The coffee was small for what a paid and average. It is self serve and was more the quality you get offered for free when in the waiting room somewere. This place is definitely more about the baked goods than the coffee, but it is still very cozy inside. It was very clean, which is good. I would absolutely come again. I would probably get another seasonal dessert, perhaps in summer?

So my friends and I got a mixed dozen from here and liked them so much we went back for another dozen the next day. There wasn't a cookie we didn't thoroughly enjoy, tho the frosted oatmeal were my fave.

Melt-in-your-mouth iced sugar cookie, buckeye cookie, vanilla iced coffee with almond milk

I'm sitting inside Ivy Lane, which is pleasantly cool on a hot day and adorably decorated, using their free wifi, enjoying a delicious sugar cookie (this cookie with frosting and large sugar crystals on top melted in my mouth) and buckeye cookie and a refreshing vanilla almond milk iced coffee as some good music plays overhead. The people working here are very pleasant and patient, and the service was extremely quick. Everything is very reasonably priced too. I would highly recommend that anyone who loves cookies stops by Ivy Lane Bakery to get some cookies and coffee. As a cookie baker myself, my standards are high, and Ivy Lane completely met my standards.

Extremely cute bakery on N. Main. This was my first visit to Bloomington, and I was happily surprised by the local bakery find. Coming from a larger city it's nice to get the home town feel and kindness from the staff. Upon entering the staff could tell that I had never been to the bakery before and explained the entire rundown for me. Few s elections to choose from; however, what they do have is very delicious. I'm not sure the type of muffin I had, I believe they called it a jungle. It was full of flavor, and was heaven on a dish. I also tried their local coffee brew, which was pair with a dash of vanilla. The decor seems to be a collection of chairs and china from all over. Miss match plates, cups and silverware, which adds to the small town feel. The bakery is definitely worth the stop! Free high speed WIFI!

Saturday selection of scones, muffins, and cookies. A couple of gluten free options as well! *looked much better in person, bad photo

Review Visit: June 10th, 2015…read more Carl's Ice Cream.... Home of the Creepy Ice Cream Cone. Those eyes. Those ice cream eyes still haunt me to this day. They will never leave my memory. Nor will the decent ice cream served here. During one of my many trips to explore Bloomington-Normal, I decided to start trying out the ice cream shacks in the dual city. Twin cities. Hyphenated names. Whatever you want to call them. I used some Google-fu to look up places to grab the sugary snack and Carl's was one of the first results. My girlfriend at the time said that it was good enough for her, so we punched the address in to the GPS and headed that way. Upon pulling up, I was startled by the feeling that I was being watched. After getting out of the car, I had to look around and see what was causing that feeling. It was then that I locked eyes with Carl. The incredibly creepy ice cream cone on a pole that is staring down on you. Trying to ignore that, we shuffled to the front of the building and looked over the menu. Looking at their current online menu to help refresh my memory, I am surprised to see them offering only ice cream and ice cream-style treats. Most ice cream shacks offer not only a ton of different frozen dessert items but also a multitude of food items as well. Not Carl's. They just have ice cream and ice cream-related products. We eventually figured out what we wanted and placed an order. I remember getting my usual (peanut butter malt/blizzard/shake) and being just slightly disappointed in the flavor and lack of a wow-factor. Not but a year later, we ended back here by some stroke of luck and I got a cone of ice cream. It was mutli-colored (as seen below) and I remember enjoying that more than I did with my 2015 choice. Back to 2015, I remember us standing our and enjoying the nice snack after a long day of exploring. I just couldn't help but feel that Carl, the ice cream mascot, was looking down on us. Like a chef watching a VIP eating their signature meal to see their reaction. All in all though, the place was pretty good. More-so the second time around. The second trip would've scored a 4.75/5. I am still surprised they don't offer non-ice cream options, but maybe The Carl doesn't allow them to serve anything but ice cream. There is a second location in Normal, Illinois. They seem to have a 'muffler-man' statue that was repurposed in to a man holding ice cream. I have yet to visit that place but hopefully his stare is less soul-piercing than Carl, the Ice Cream Cone's.

Love Carl's! My fave is the "Almond Joy" - coconut ice cream packed with almonds and chocolate. But…read moreall their "hard ice creams" are good and they have lots of flavors. They also have the soft serve, sundaes, and other novelties you'd expect. There's something for every family member and the prices are reasonable. The servers have always been nice and fast, even with a crowd there.
