Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to find a very busy afternoon going on. The place had almost all the tables and chairs filled with customers enjoying their drinks. The girl behind the counter was friendly and polite and took my order. I ordered a hot mocha latte with macadamia milk. I gave her my name and she said they'd call me when it was ready. I found one of the few open seats, a low sitting leather chair that was quite comfortable tyvm, and did a little people watching until they called my name. There was now a small line to the order line and I was pretty convinced I had made a good choice in coming here. In a matter of minutes later my name was called and my drink was ready. The coffee is good, but the vibe is always weird. For a while they were selling monocle chocolate, their own brand. Then they stopped. When I asked about it they said "we never sold chocolate, i don't know what you're talking about" (The chocolate was back today) Today it was asking about their canned coffee because the fridge was empty (they have a shandy coffee/lemonade that is killer) They looked at me like I was an alien for wanting to buy a product they've had in cans in the past. They assured me they still have it to make but don't have it in cans sell. When I asked if they knew when it would be back the barista was frustrated and repeated that they had it to make. Ok fine, but I'm driving an hour home and liked the cans? Just a weird thing like it's a pain in the ass that i know what products they have and am interested in them. The Huckleberry Sage latte was great, the Barista was great for suggesting it iced. I'd have it again. I'm just giving up on expecting clear answers about what they carry. read more

Ordering was quick and efficient. Decor is hip and fun. Ordered a Chai Latte and about 3 minutes later it was done. It was ok but nothing to write home about. Mocha latte was delicious. Review Visit: January 15th, 2020 CxT is back with a second location that is bigger, better and in a more awkward location. *pushes up glasses* Technically, this is the 3rd CxT location that has opened up. The original CxT is located on Main Street in Peoria. The 2nd was located where Java Jolt served drinks. Was being the key word. My friend Tim and I tried going there today to find a note on the door saying that location closed on December 23rd. Sadness I asked Tim if he wanted to try the new location off Knoxville and he didn't hesitate to say "yes". Back in the car and on the road before we knew it. Knowing the new place was in an odd location, I was surprised when my GPS took me to what I thought were some abandoned buildings. Pulling in to the area and looking around, I quickly realize that the backside of these buildings are anything but dead. It appears the whole area is being renovated for new businesses and CxT is one of the first to go in. Not expecting much due to the odd location, Tim and I got out of my car and headed in. I was pleasantly surprised to see almost all the seats in the coffeehouse were occupied. That's a good sign that the location isn't that big of a deal. Tim and I looked over the menu and quickly placed our orders. Tim got a turmeric latte while I got a caramel one. With the zany weather we've been having in Illinois, a warm and frothy drink sounded perfect... and boy, was it what I needed. The froth was smooth and creamy while the drink while light on taste was delicious. Tim said his turmeric was not good at firs since he got a mouthful of the spices but it evened out after he drank a bit more. They did appear to have some baked goods for sale, but since Tim and I had plans to get food elsewhere, we didn't partake in the sweets. But I have a feeling I will be back multiple times and I will get to try one then. The staff was very polite and professional while we were there. They did seem a bit bored once it slowed down but that could've been due to having so many workers there. As for the interior and decor, it was cozy yet modern yet simple. There were plenty of chairs and tables spread throughout the place. They even had a small bar in the middle of the shop for 3 people to sit side-by-side. For all the places I have been to, this one definitely ranks high on my list of well-done interiors. If you can get over the slightly odd location and the fact that you really can't see the shop from the road, you won't regret stopping in for a quick drink. read more

I'm a coffee snob. I bring my own picopress with me on trips, make my own espressos on a quality machine ... etc. I didn't expect much in Peoria in the realm of high end coffee. I was wrong. On first glance you walk in and notice a 3 group slayer espresso machine. Thats a SERIOUS machine. V60's, mahlkonig ... high end coffee apparatuses. You can see the roasting machines through a window outside. Pretty sweet setup. Okay - this company either has a lot of money or they are very about serious coffee. It's the latter. Smooth espresso with excellent taste, clarity, depth, mouth feel ... blah blah ... all those other words coffee nerds love to use to describe the taste. It's great coffee. Period. Perhaps the best in Illinois. Definitely my favorite. read more

Our " go- to" coffee store for best taste. Love the Colombian regular and decaf. Their specialty drinks are usually tasty, too. They have had a few glitches in their online ordering, which is frustrating as it has gone on for too long. We have been given an explanation of " we're working to fix that" for several months, now. Ordering ahead is convenient as we like to purchase larger portions than what is on their shelves. During COVID they were amazing service wise. The patio is so chill and inviting, the staff exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful, delicious coffee and baked goods and the cherry on top... reasonably priced! We had pour over iced coffees and selected a roast with the help of the staff...they KNOW their coffee...it's not just a job. To go we got a blueberry cream scone they sell from Great Harvest...WOW...after it warmed in the car probably the best scone I've had. Very impressed with this local coffee shop! They're doing a great job adapting to new regulations for COVID and I definitely enjoyed visiting here. The baristas are very friendly and willing to explain a drink if you ask. My mom got the apple cider donut latte and it was INCREDIBLE. A very unique fruity flavor with oat milk, it was great!! Very nice local coffee roaster. Very cool & modern space for hanging out, open & bright w/ lots of natural light. Top notch coffee, the kind that doesn't need cream and sugar, has a natural sweet and not burnt taste. Personally, I do filtered coffee w/ espresso shots, but they have alll the options and very capable barista team as I watched them work. Everything here is done to perfection. The staff is always helpful and the coffee is fantastic. We live out of town but are in Peoria every month to visit family. We come in twice a day for coffee and the experience is always wonderful. Tristan always makes sure that we have our beans to take home and the mail order service is great as well.
