First time coming here. Lobster roll and oysters were fabulous. Eye of the falcon reserve wine was jammy and extremely delicious.

Members Tasting Weekend Aug. 29, 2026
Alice-Anne A.

We planned our anniversary getaway to Paso Robles a few months in advance and noticed our weekend happened to be a members-only event at DAOU. Since it was high on our list, we joined the wine club and reserved our tasting ahead of time, and we are so glad we did! This ended up being one of our favorite California wine-tasting experiences we've had in Santa Barbara, Monterey, Temecula, or Paso Robles. The setting atop DAOU Mountain is absolutely gorgeous, with vineyards, flowers, rolling hills, and incredible views. Despite being a large winery, the thoughtfully spaced reservations and seating made the experience feel intimate and relaxed. We enjoyed a delicious wood-fired Margherita pizza along with a flight of wines ranging from rosé and Sauvignon Blanc to the Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux-style reds that DAOU does exceptionally well. Carly was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, as was everyone we encountered. Our membership already felt well worth it with two complimentary $50 tastings, the pizza, and the ability to customize our wine allocations. Phenomenal wines, beautiful ambiance, and wonderful service. We will absolutely return! Highly recommend reserving your tasting well in advance, especially for weekends and special events!

Beautiful winery with gorgeous views, friendly staff, delicious food, and fabulous wine! This was our second visit, and we brought friends this time and they were just in awe as we were. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and wine tasting on the patio and, of course, purchased some wine to take home. Always a great first stop for a day of wine tasting!

The views from the property are spectacular and worth the visit. We enjoyed the premium wines--not so much the lower end ones.

I went here because I enjoyed every Cabernet I've ever had from Paso Robles... with one exception... DAOU! And I wanted to find out why... And after a drive that reminded me of the beginning of "The Shining" with all of the winding roads, I arrived, sat down overlooking the valley, and told my wine guy flat out what I started this review with. He was slightly taken aback and treated me with a "let's change your mind" attitude. As I waited for my first sample, I couldn't help but notice the view. It was the best view of all of the wineries I've visited and based on the other reviews, I'm not wrong. They used their plot of land well to Wow their guests... I sampled quite a few wines and liked a lot of them. The ones here are apparently different than the DAOU that's in most stores and restaurants. That's a shame actually... I was here in the morning so it was freezing cold out. I'd recommend for a morning tasting, bring a jacket or something (I was there in May). But as the morning neared its end, the sun warmed things up. My wine guy brought some crackers also as I was feeling a bit queasy from guzzling wine so early. Nice touch and prevented the hallways from looking like "The Shining" too. I also enjoyed watching and playing with Cheetoh, the cat who hung around the outside. He was pretty chill and friendly. He followed my wine guy around and let me pet him (the cat, not the wine guy). I'm glad I went and was upfront about why I was there. I think he appreciated it too and he did change my mind about DAOU. I get that it's a business so you gotta sell to the masses, but make some of these others available to us common folk. If I'm ever in Paso Robles again, I'm making sure to make a reservation here and get one of those wood fired pizzas! And maybe they'll take my idea and make a Lizzie Bordeaux! What's up with my macabre mind today...

Beautiful area for a wine tasting

Had a wine tasting here the other day to celebrate a special anniversary and had a fabulous time! Taylor was our guide and was knowledgeable, personable, and so sweet! The wines themself are fabulous at DAOU, we went home with a Pinot and a reserve Rosé. The property itself is absolutely stunning with gorgeous views of Paso Robles. A bonus at this winery is they offer quite a few food options which was great as we had just drove about 4 hours from LA and were starving. The Margherita pizza did not disappoint and was made in the outdoor pizza oven. I can't recommend DAOU enough for a tasting in a magical setting. We'll definitely be back!

Mezze platter exceeded expectations delicious. Service knowledgeable and much more friendly than previous visits. Ambiance is Paso Robles world class. And the vintages rival anywhere

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! Outstanding wines! (though some of the more expensive in the region) JT was awesome. And our three courses with the tasting were outstanding! A very nice salad, a great steak, and the perfect chocolate dessert to compliment the bold red wine.

We had a great time visiting the Daou winery in Paso Robles. The views are spectacular and once we were seated, we felt relaxed and taken care of. We had a choice of a $50 tasting, which would be waived with purchase of 2 bottles. Instead, we each opted for the $95 tasting experience. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The plate included a small steak, lobster roll and lamb chop. The chocolate dessert really hit the spot. We enjoyed tasting the different wines. We ended up purchasing a cab to save for a special occasion a few years from now. Definitely make reservations online before going.

DAOU is truly an experience. Our first visit was in June for my partner's birthday. We were spending a day in Paso Robles before continuing up to Carmel, and DAOU was the one place she really wanted to visit. From the moment we arrived on the mountain, we understood why. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the wine was incredible, and even the food was memorable. We enjoyed the pizza and steak so much that by the end of our visit, my partner had become a member and we were leaving with several bottles of wine. So when it was time to celebrate my 45th birthday in September, I knew I wanted to come back to Paso, and our timing happened to line up perfectly with DAOU's September Member Sunset Series on my actual birthday. We had a 4:30 reservation and took a Lyft because when wine tasting is involved, that's the only way to do it! We were greeted with frosé, and on such a hot September afternoon, it was SO refreshing. Honestly, I could have happily continued drinking that all evening. We also immediately recognized William from our first visit in June. He is so knowledgeable about the wines. It was really nice seeing a familiar face and having him take care of us again throughout the evening. Our original table had quite a few bees swarming around, so we asked if it would be possible to move. Of course, you're on a beautiful mountain surrounded by nature, so the bees are part of the territory! They moved us without an issue, and our new table ended up being even better. We were closer to the view with the most beautiful setting in front of us. The evening was absolutely gorgeous. Sitting outside overlooking the vineyards, listening to live music, enjoying the sunset and working our way through the wines was such a special way to spend my birthday. We had the Margherita pizza again, which was complimentary, and of course had to order the steak again because we remembered how much we enjoyed it on our first visit. This time we also tried the lobster roll, and OMG, it was SO good! Apparently the bees agreed because they periodically came over to investigate that plate too. There is just something magical about being up on DAOU Mountain. The wine is wonderful and the food is delicious, but it's the entire experience that stays with you. The views, the atmosphere and watching the sun go down over Paso Robles made bringing in 45 something I'll always remember. Two visits in three months, two birthdays celebrated, and somehow DAOU felt special both times. I already know this is somewhere we'll continue coming back to.

This was our second visit to DAOU, and it was just as incredible as the first. The views are absolutely stunning and easily some of the best in the region. The wines are consistently excellent, and the overall experience feels elevated yet welcoming. Our server, Reuben, was kind, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations that made our tasting even better. The hospitality stood out just as much as the wine itself. There's truly nothing like the views at DAOU--we'll continue to come back every time we're in town.

Jake B.

Really lovely vineyard in Paso Robles. Stunning views of the mountains with really great wine. The seating areas are extremely pleasant, and paired perfectly with the flight of wine we had. No complaints whatsoever, would for sure recommend!

Eleena H.

Wow! Carly's attentiveness, bubbly personality and humor truly separated our winery experience from the others. The crudité plate is a MUST have. I will be finding those peppers that paired perfectly with the sav blanc. We will be back!

Ask the Community - DAOU Vineyards

Do they allow dogs?

We brought our 30lb poodle mix and he was a perfect gentleman as well as the other well behaved dogs we encountered.

With reservations for tasting, is there a tour of the estate?

Not that l know of but l am sure it could be arranged. I have never seen a more beautiful vineyard!

Does Daou have charging stations for electric vehicles?

Negative

When it comes to the food menu, do you offer vegan options?

If we make reservations for tasting, can some of us opt out and just get a glass of something?

I believe so. Not everyone in the party has to taste

If you have reservations booked with a group of friends and someone doesn't drink is that okay?

Yes! I believe the reservation is mainly for seating purposes.... I reserved for my family of 4 which is 2 adults and 2 kids. We only paid for 2 tastings.

Can I walk in just buy some wine? Reservations are booked :(

From what I just learned today, the answer is no. I just called and asked that same question and was told, if you come by 1st thing when they open, maybe, but during the day, they will most likely be to busy to serve you!

It said close at 5pm. Our reservation is at 4:30pm, can we stay longer?

They didn't rush us out but we didn't stay more than 15 min past 5. Most people had cleared out. I can say maybe two more parties were still there once we decided to leave.

Can we stop by and do a tasting or is it absolutely only by reservation? They are all sold out today. :(

Reservations only! They are always booked in advance. I've gone 3 times this year and book a months well in advance. So sorry :(

How do I make reservations for just dining? On your RSVP page it have tasting and dining combine.…

The $45/pp is just for the wine tasting. I don't know if you can make reservations just for dining. Their menu for food options changes seasonally During our most recent visit…

Do you have lunch?

They do have lunch food there

Hi! Do I need to make reservations for wine tasting?

Definitely yes! I know they've had limited spaces with Covid. When I went we booked 3 weeks in advance!

Do they have the spray mist to make it feel more comfortable in this heat?

I believe so. The patio is pretty nicely shaded

Do they allow you to bring your own picnic?

No, but they do have a full service kitchen

Do I need to make reservations or is walk-in ok? There are going to be 4 of us

Highly recommend it. It's a very popular location.

Are babies/ kids allowed? Planning a trip but baby has to come with, checking to see before we make reservations

Yes , we went with a 2 1/2 and a 4 year old . Reserved a table outside.

Can you bring your own picnic/snacks?

They have a great varieties to go with their wines. WHY bring your own?

Are kids welcome?

Yes they are welcome. Its a beautiful restaurant too

What is the price for wine tasting?

I think the one we selected was about $20 each but they have different tastings you can choose from. Also you can just share one. Tip: look for a coupon at a nearest hotel

The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, and it wasn't loud at all, which made it easy to sit back and enjoy a conversation with my husband at a comfortable volume. The setting itself was great! Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. We ordered a $24 pizza that had virtually no flavor. The sauce was plain, the cheese was tasteless, and overall, it mostly tasted like plain dough. Our waiter was great very kind and understanding and he was nice enough to remove the pizza from our check without any hesitation. I truly appreciated the customer service.
