We went in about 45 minutes before they closed. They were out of both of their beef steak options and skinny fries. Spouse got the Roasted pork and unfortunately was really greasy and full of fat, must have been the bottom of the barrel since it was almost closing time. My salad was good but not a lot on the salad itself; lettuce (very pale), tomato, and crasins. I ordered the grilled chicken extra. The chicken was cooked nicely. The tamale appetizer was good. The ham croquets were not what we expected, not bad but would not order again, just my personal preference. When we paid, my spouse mentioned he was not happy with the roasted pork and the waitress said he should have mentioned it and they would have made it right. When you are from Miami you have very high expectations when it comes to Cuban food. And we were surprised at how well this restaurant delivered on all the classic Cuban dishes. We were so happy to find some comfort food in the middle of the mountains. The food is good the restaurant is clean, the service is very slow. My complaint, it's the only Cuban restaurant that does not serve bread with the meal it's à la cart. I almost don't want to leave this review to keep this, my favorite restaurant, from getting so packed. If you're searching for delicious mouthwatering Cuban food this is the place to go!! The service is always great even when it's packed. The food is always spectacular! All the meats are divinely cooked! When we go we always order the soap of the day - now we don't even ask which one they have that day because they are all fantastic! I cannot say enough amazing things about this small restaurant- it is a wonderful family-run restaurant! Highly recommend! I just read someone else's review - I, also coming from Miami, disagree with the comment that this place is nothing great compared to Miami Cuban restaurants. I think it beats several of the Cuban restaurants in MiamiI went to, including Versailles - only thing it doesn't have is liquor, but the food by far makes this place worth it. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when our family took us to this Cuban restaurant. We had great food. The service was a bit flat but attentive. The roasted pork with herbs was delicious. Sweet plantains perfectly cooked. I had asked if the tomatoes were ripe and assured that they were--not so much. For $2.99 for 3 slices of tomatoes, they should invest in some locally grown ones in the summer for great flavor. We had the Mojito "chips" for an appetizer. These are perfect for a little bite before the meal. And we took some pastries home with us for later: dulce de leche cookies and guava filled pastries were a hit late in the afternoon. While the ambiance is typical down home Blairsville, you need to stop in at Dan's for a great meal. read more

My wife and I went to Blairsville in search of land we could buy last summer. We are both of Cuban descent and wanted to see how far a Cuban restaurant would be and were surprised to see one right there in Blairsville. The food was absolutely amazing. Meat very undercooked, almost raw when we ordered medium. Asked to have it cooked more, came out black but still raw on inside. Owner very rude when we told him and said it was medium even though it was very red and chewy. If they had cooked it 1 min less it would have been straight up raw. It is amazing to have an incredible cafe like Dan'S Cuban Restaurant in the No. GA mountains. Right out Miami authentic Cuban food. This is one of those restaurants where you can close your eyes, point to a spot on the menu, and you have ordered an amazing dish. I am hooked on the Chicken Madeira, which is lick the plate good. The servers don't even bother to ask what I want, they just write it down , smile, and move on to my wife. There is something for everybody here. Even my grandkids love this place. My wife and I went to Dan's Grill for the 1st time for lunch about 1:45 pm. on Saturday July 31. The place is located in the same shopping center as JJ Willys. The parking lot is of decent size and we were able to park right at the front door. We walked in a found a pretty packed restaurant but was seated immediately. The waitress quickly took our food and drink orders. We both had a large cuban with black beans. I added plantains and boiled (you can also get them fried) yucca with yucca con mojo. 1st off I judge a good Cuban food place by their mojo and this is as authentic as it gets. Garlicky goodness that permeates the yuca which comes out really hot from the oven. Get it! Do NOT think about it. Just get it and thank me later. 2nd I judge a good Cuban place by its cuban... this was excellent. Plenty of meat, cheese, mustard, mayo and most importantly : a taste of pickle in every bite! You would be surprised how many authentic cuban joints skimp on pickles. I once had a Cuban in the Tampa airport that put 1 tiny nickel size dill pickle on each half. The folks in Ybor City, a few miles away (and home to some authentic cuban food) must have been puzzled by that. The bread is authentic as well. The black beans were really good too! In fact the plantains were carmelized and served warm and sweet. So why not 5 stars? Our food and drink orders were taken quickly but took awhile to get...but we were ok with that because they were slammed. But our waitress disappeared for a bit at times when we needed more napkins, an update on our food, or a refill on drinks. We were able to flag down another waitress on 1 occasion and the owners wife got us an update. All in all service was good but slow at times and missing at a couple of points. Great dining experience! We will be back! You should go! We cannot wait to come back and try the ropa vieja, picadillo, and other authentic cuban meals. read more

This Tampa girl was able to find a Cuban restaurant waaaaay up here in this teeny tiny mountain town that earned rave reviews on Yelp. When we saw the pic of the not-so-ham-heavy Cuban sandwich at Dan's Grill (nothing ruins a Cuban like excessive ham) we immediately had a craving for home and decided we would give it a shot. Delish! Delish! Delish! In fact, better than most Cubans back home. We got to talking to the owners who were Miami transplants that fell in love with the area. They decided to open up shop and bring authentic Cuban food to the thin-air breathing masses and have had huge success! Speaking of thin air, when I asked Dan where they get their bread from (since it tasted WAY too good to be a french loaf from the local supermarket) they proudly boasted "from La Segunda Central in Tampa. We have it shipped every week and freeze it. We tried to bake it but the altitude didn't work well with the baking process." Well, you can imagine our surprise when we boasted our trek from the hometown. Such a small world I tell ya! Not only was the sandwich satisfying, but their black beans and tostones were as real as it gets. As we paid our less than $20 tab, Dan dared us to try a few of his homemade croqueta de jaiba (devil crabs). Challenged accepted. Best I've ever had, hands down.
