This spot is a solid 4 stars for country cooking - good southern sweet atmosphere, great food, and good prices. We ordered the country fried steak (5 stars) and the meatloaf (3-4 stars). The fried zucchini was excellent. The kid's meal burger was hand pattied and massive! The server was friendly and attentive and the breakfast plates looked awesome too, although I haven't tried them. If you are passing through town, this restaurant is worth a visit.

We found this grill by chance and we are so happy we did! We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. It was busy but we got a table right away. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered two eggs with corned beef hash and hash browns with cheese and onions. The hash browns were crispy, and the eggs and hash were tasty. My husband ordered two eggs and gravy with sausage. He said his food was tasty as well. The prices are good and so is the food. Oh, and they apparently have all you can eat fried catfish on Friday nights. We will have to try that next time. We will definitely return on our next visit to the mountains.

Staff was pleasant and attentive, the owner passed by several times and asked how things were. It truly did remind me of being at my grandmother's as the story in the front of the menu says it will. When we walked in, we waited to be seated, we were standing close to the cash register and kitchen area. As we waited we listed to one of the staff complaining that wasn't a great sign. As we were being seated, we noticed all the cute decor! Someone took a lot of time to make the place look so cute! The waitress was super attentive! Hubby ordered the special, a Meatball sandwich and I ordered a salad with fried chicken tenders... I had to cheat a little bit. That Fried Chicken was calling my name! The food came out after a little bit of a wait. I completely understand because the chicken was fresh. But my poor hubby got a mess of a sandwich. It appears they made the sandwich and it sat while the chicken cooked. It was a soppy soggy mess. The bread was drenched and completely mush. He said the French Fries weren't much better. I asked him if he could eat just the meatballs and he picked up them each up with a fork and each and everyone of them were completely black on one side. Totally burned. Boy I felt bad because my chicken was delicious! This is the reason I added two stars. We went to pay, my husband leaving his hot mess in his plate. The owner was at the cash register, I found this out because she answered the phone while checking us out (stating her name was Julie). She was in such a mood, she was rude to the person on the phone placing an orderIn fact she was even rude to us, she scared the bjesus out of me....so we didn't say a word. I sure didn't want to complain and start an altercation . Hubby will never go back. He was not happy at all. I might go back, maybe with a friend and hope next time is better ‍ Possibly everyone was having a bad day? It was not crowded when we dined, as it was around 2:30pm. We thought this would be an asset, but we were wrong. Here is hoping it was an off day for them. Dine at your own risk my friends. Stay away from soggy sandwiches! Go for the fried chicken

I wanted to try their pancakes but didn't want a full stack, and our server Robin was wonderful in recommending the Sweet Start. One thing we really appreciated is that all breakfast entrees include coffee or tea, and the prices are already very reasonable. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that even though we ordered specialty coffees, we could still enjoy complimentary refills of regular coffee. The restaurant has a charming and unique atmosphere, with every table looking a little different from the next. For my meal, I ordered the Sweet Start, which included one pancake, eggs, and bacon. I also appreciated the transparency from the staff. When I asked for an extra serving of their homemade pecan butter, I was informed upfront that there would be an additional charge....a level of honesty that's surprisingly rare these days. My husband ordered the Banana Nut French Toast comes with homemade whipped cream and homemade pecan butter, which also came with bacon. He added a side of eggs as well. Everything was delicious. I'm especially particular about pancakes, and I can honestly say they serve some of the best pancakes I've had. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and what stood out most was how genuinely happy all the staff seemed to be. It created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely return the next time we're in the area.

I think you turned me into someone that will eat them again. The brisket hash was so good and the Certified Angus Beef was absolutely flavorful. Very nice atmosphere, very well maintained and recently vacated tables attended to quickly. The staff was super friendly and definitely a must go to place when in the area.

The meat and three along with the vegetable only options are welcomed changes to the family style only meal for those desiring smaller portions. In our experience, the food was served hot and was perfectly prepared. We chose white meat chicken and received two large breast that were excellent! The two catfish fillets and four slices of meat loaf were delicious. The vegetables were Lima beans, cabbage casserole, creamed corn, potatoes au gratin, slaw and a spring salad. All were served fresh with two biscuits and two corn muffins. The relish, apple butter and Sogrum-sage butter were delightful. We were blessed to have April for our server, and highly recommend her for your visit. She shared the history of the area and is proud of the changes and history of the Dillard House. Thank you for a great meal. The fried chicken is better than I remembered. Yes, the restaurant is open, and parts of the motel are being remodeled/updated and the new hotel is under construction. Say for 15 minutes before the manager had to obtain a server for our table. After the food was delivered, the server did not provide adequate service. I requested a water refill, which took an additional 15 minutes, because she continually forgot. Food quality wasn't the greatest. They served chicken, which consisted of 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. Along with friend catfish filets, that had been way over salted. Both were very soggy. I ate half the thigh and quit. Veggies? Only vegetables were Lima beans, everything else considered vegetables, was a casserole. A table full of starches. Over rated and over priced. Sadly disappointed. If you want good southern food, go further south to Thomasville, GA. Go to O'Neals. You can fool some folks, but not someone that knows southern cooking. We won't return.
