    Chicken quesadilla????

Same below average "Mexican" food as the dozens in the area. Horrible, stay away. Place was empty and service was as if it was packed. One guy/server/cook while the other sat at bar playing on his phone. Ordered a chicken quesadilla with chilled chicken, got a cold tortilla stuffed with shredded chicken. Would have told him to send it back but by the time he came back just told throw it away and left. STAY AWAY!

Mesquite Grill seems to be one of the only Mexican restaurants in Blue Ridge and it's a pretty standard Mexican restaurant. The place could use a little upkeep but plenty of parking outside and the service was really great. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with grilled veggies. The portion size was small but for a light lunch it was perfect. However, it was pretty oily. I did like that for some of my friends meals that came with a lettuce/extra toppings, the salad was real chopped lettuce and tomatoes, not just the typical bagged lettuce. The standout was the elote (street corn) I ordered. Fresh on the cob, this corn was AMAZING and only $3.99! It was seasoned super well and was the highlight of the meal. Overall, it's a standard Mexican restaurant and while it's not my favorite restaurant in Blue Ridge, it will hit any Mexican food craving at a very reasonable price.

Great food and excellent service! The decor is stunning and with the music playing it makes you feel like you're somewhere in Mexico! Hubby and I each got a combo and really enjoyed them. The ground beef is nicely seasoned, not too much, just enough. The tacos, poblanos and burritos are absolutely loaded with meat making it super filling with some leftovers! The margaritas are refreshing and not too sweet. We enjoyed our late lunch and highly recommend Mesquite Grill!

My mom and I took a trip to Georgia for the weekend and while doing some shopping we looked for somewhere to eat. Mesquite had amazing reviews and was close by. We walked in and were welcomed immediately. The restaurant is cute and vibrant, colorful and warm. The margarita was sweet but not syrupy and the beef was flavored and seasoned very well! The guacamole is made fresh and you can definitely taste the difference. I got the changa and it was tasty as well as beautiful to look at! The veggies were plentiful and grilled perfectly. My mom got the chicken chalupa and she loved it! She couldn't stop commenting on how fresh the tomatoes in the pico were and how crisp the lettuce was. We also had an amazing waiter! Accommodating and kind. Portion sizes are large, prices are low, the food is delicious. You really can't beat it.

We haven't been here for several years but decided to give it another try. The entrance is crowded/claustrophobic and just odd but it's the smell of cleaner that is off putting from the start. The chairs are uniquely carved and painted but somehow distracting. Bench seats have seen better days (rips and cracking). There was oddly no music playing in the background. Everyone was so quiet. The patrons on a Saturday at noon in April seemed to be mostly locals but only a third to half the tables were occupied. The menu has lots of choices. (My menu was sticky.) We ordered from the lunch options and our daughter ordered from the kids menu. The salsa is smokey and comes with warm multi color chips. The refried beans were a bit runny and bland. My beef chimichanga was quite good but my husband wasn't impressed by his choice. The food came out quickly and on a push cart/trolley with a horn (assuming only for tables with kids). A bit odd. The server was very nice and extremely attentive. Would come again but only for lunch and with my expectations low.

The food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all top shelf here at the Mesquite Grill!!!! We enjoyed our total experience thoroughly from start to finish with our party of 5!!!

Hands down the worst service I have ever had. More than 45 minutes of our drinks empty waiting for the server to return. We watched her serve entire tables and completely avoid us. The food took an hour and while wasn't bad the mood was so killed by then it wasn't enjoyed.

Rare steak with grilled shrimp. Stuffed peppers with veggies, both excellent.

We come here multiple times during our yearly visit to Blue Ridge. Food is alway great & reasonable. Service was fast and excellent. After a long day of hiking it's important we get our dinners quick. I got the steak w/ grilled shrimp and my kids got the chicken fajita and stuff peppers. My husband is Vegan and was able to get beans/rice, avocado, veggies fajitas. Everything was excellent. The street corn was amazing! We will definitely be back!

    Shrimp fajitas. Very delicious.

How can a Mexican restaurant that made absolutely delicious beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas mess up salsa, but they sure did yesterday. We dove right into the fajitas, the salad with beans rice and yummy guacamole. Then opening the salsa and the bland thick chips we found ourselves wondering what in the world did they put in the salsa that tasted like fish, parsley and oregano. Needless to say we were thankful we had salsa from another restaurant and dumped the other. I do think I would get their fajitas again but not without checking the salsa out first. And then if you order to go be sure you check your order. They left off the tortillas and I asked the owner or manager if I could get some. He was very annoyed and was more concerned with finding out who messed up the order. 15 minutes later I left with my order. Oh and fajitas for 2, chicken and beef, shrimp fajitas for 1 and cheese was $67. Pretty steep.

Thats $10 dollars worth of nachos?!?!
    Chris C.

Well, we started with the wrong drink. A conplimentary bowl of soup, some bagged tortilla chips, but good salsa. And that was the highlight. $10 worth of nachos, flavorless, nothing but cheese and unseasoned beef. Extremely dissapointed. But the salsa was good. Oh ueah, and I got upcharged for jalapenos on my bare nachos.

Decent atmosphere. The chips and salsa were great. Food was good. The server didn't know some of the things on the menu but that's all good

The restaurant was only about one-third full, yet employees seemed to be standing around bored out of their minds. To make matters worse, my food arrived with hair (that's plural) in it. Apparently queso con pelo is their specialty. I wasn't willing to wait another hour for them to remake the orders correctly. The most infuriating part was that other people--whether customers, employees, or family members of the staff--decided to involve themselves in the situation. Yeah, I had choice words for the server that took our order and I smashed a styrofoam container full of cheese and mystery meat on the counter. But if you are not involved, STFU and mind your own business. One grabbed my arm and another tried to pull the door shut on me to prevent me from leaving. FAFO is a thing, ese. Terrible service, poor food quality, and an overall awful experience. I won't be back.

First, after waiting nearly an hour for our order, we were treated to the surprise bonus of…read more.. getting the wrong food. Apparently "carnitas" now means shredded BBQ-style pork instead of the cubed pork we ordered. Good to know! The corn tortillas from the other meal tasted rancid, and even the tortilla chips had that unmistakable "old oil" flavor -- the kind that makes you question how long that fryer has been part of the furniture. The couple we were dining with had an equally disappointing (if not worse) experience: a completely incorrect meal and, as an added "special ingredient," a very obvious hair in the queso... which, thankfully, did not belong to any of us. When we returned to address the issues and simply tried to get the orders corrected, one of the gentlemen in our group was verbally confronted by other men who appeared to employees. Because apparently adding intimidation to an already poor dining experience is part of the package. Needless to say, we will not be returning, and we certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. There are too many restaurants that value their customers to waste time and money on an experience like this.

Not only it was on my birthday in which we celebrated. But our excursion to the mountains for the long weekend was a fantastic time. The beverages were on point, they have a great menu of bourbons. Will not disappoint. As a surprise they gave me a flourless chocolate Bundt cake to take home with a candle. For drinks, the Sweater Weather was the clear winner--well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The combination of Bulleit rye, La Pommiere Calvados, and sorghum created a smooth, seasonal cocktail with nice depth. The Properly Poached was decent but didn't quite impress in the same way; the Brugal Añejo, pear liqueur, dark wildflower honey, and pink salt made for an interesting profile, though it leaned a bit flat compared to the first cocktail. We started with the broiled sweet crab dip served fondue-style with pita chips, which was a great opener. It was warm, creamy, and rich, with good crab flavor that made it easy to keep going back for more. For entrées, the blackened mahi fish tacos were fresh and flavorful. The mango pico added a nice brightness, and the cilantro crema tied everything together nicely on the corn tortillas. The smash burger was another solid choice--juicy double patties with melted American cheese, crispy onion rings, house sauce, and house-made pickles that added a great tangy crunch. Service was ok waitress took a bit to bring the drinks and then the food took about 30+ minutes luckily we were entertained by talking to locals that we really weren't concerned. Overall, the restaurant delivers a pleasant upscale-casual dining experience with well-executed comfort favorites and creative cocktails. Definitely worth a visit, especially for the crab dip and the Sweater Weather cocktail and the fish tacos those were my overall favorites. Prices are mid range. Note that the restaurant as most restaurants in the Blue Ridge close early.

We were quickly seated and overall service was very friendly and accommodating. My margarita was very fresh tasting and the spicy salt rim was delicious. Next time, I will opt for the 16oz compared to the 12 Oz. Tne fresh juices were tasty as well as the flavor option such as tamarind. Chips were crisp and flaky. So much better than other similar places where the chips were inedible and so hard. We requested red salsa that was more like hot sauce. The salsa that accommodated the chips turned put to be salsa Verde and mayo, not our favorite. So when we were asked, we requested a salsa verde option which was the best choice overall. The $2+ cost for endless chips was worth it for me. Hubby requested the shrimp fajitas and I ordered the shrimp Mexicana platter. Good portion sizes even if flavors were not that complex. Homemade corn tortillas were very good. Overall, an enjoyable meal. Looking forward to our next visit!
