Went in on a Tuesday. They confirmed it was actually TACO TUESDAY and that all tacos were $.99. Woooohoooo!!! I ordered three tacos; hard beef, soft chicken and soft al pastor along with a Margarita (just ok nothing super special about it). Food came out relatively quick. The beef taco was the best. The chicken lacked flavor and the al pastor one was decent but there wasn't enough meat inside. You have to go to a bar with toppings to complete your taco. I wasn't a fan of that part but I went along with it ok. Our waiter was helpful and kind. He knew the menu pretty well. Restaurant isn't anything fancy or over the top; gaudy furniture and loud colors everywhere. read more

We needed a break from the wedding festivities, so slipped out to the finest Mexican food Northern Georgia has to offer. It's really hard for me to find fault with this restaurant despite having grown up in Los Angeles (which pretty much sets the bar for Mexican food for the rest of the country). I ordered a mango margarita and a chicken enchilada, and both were really good. One aside: my wife bet me that the waitress wouldn't know what "a la carte" meant, and I took her up on that bet thinking that anyone who works in the restaurant industry is familiar with basic terminology (even if that terminology is of French origin). I have visited this particular restaurant several times over the years and enjoyed myself, this trip was different. We ordered the fajitas, a dish that they boast about, and it was awful. Small, over cooked, pieces of chicken and steak, virtually no seasoning, this serving was poor at best. That coupled with the fact that the flour tortillas were cold and hard around the edge and no side dish of the toppings? Who serves fajitas without a side of cheese?! The Salsa was very tomato tasting with little taste. certainly not made on premises My entrée taco meat was very good but the taco was stale and soggy on the bottom because they put it in the middle of the refried beans. Very little garnish. My cheese enchilada had a not normal (by my standard) taste, probably because of the type of cheese. The entree's were almost tasteless, other than the taco meat. I realize that not everyone will have had my experience, but I do wish I had gone elsewhere, time and expense wasted that could have been spent at a better restraint. Visited this establishment while I was on holiday vacation with my family and decided to grab lunch. Our waitress was Roxanne, who was so great! Got our drinks asap, took our order quickly, was very accommodating, and just overall very nice! She seemed to be very busy with the lunch rush but didn't let it show. One of the best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant! The food was also fantastic, large portions we could take as leftovers to go and came out hot and delicious! Not really authentic Mexican food but the food was delicious. Stopped here on my lunch break and ordered the lunch burrito. It was really good but missing the Mexican spice I was hoping for. They serve a type of vegetable soup with the chips and I thought this was pretty different. The service was fast and amazing bringing our food quickly. The server was friendly and nice as well. We picked up our food and returned to our campsite, then the hilarity began! If you miss your days of elementary school and recall Taco Tuesday then you can relate to this experience. This is the worst school lunch you can ever imagine!!! We received two bags of stale chips for our queso con grosso. My husband ordered the combo plate with a taco and beef enchilada, side of rice (which was white steamed rice with some chopped green peppers), he said it looked like diarrhea wrapped in a flour tortilla and the taste was consistent with his observation. My husband tossed it in the garbage and had 4 power bars for dinner. I ordered "The Tradicional" which was chicken breast and mole sauce, I typically love mole sauce but this was the most disgusting sauce I've ever seen!!!! It was red and watery with no flavor! Even my refried beans were tasteless! Ugh! If you are looking for a place to eat in Blue Ridge, we highly suggest Quik Trip or Billie Bob's bait and tackle shop. read more

How in the world does this place have 4 stars?! Where do I even start? We came up to Blue Ridge for the day and after shopping around for several hours we were starving (like starving, starving)! Instead of going to one of the local restaurants that we knew, but had 2 hour waits, we decided to go to the closest Mexican restaurant, because hello chips and salsa instant gratification (that's what we get for being greedy). We walked into this place and waited to be seated. No less than 5 employees passed by us waiting at the front before someone finally said they'd be with us in a minute. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated in the half empty restaurant. When we finally got seated, they sit us down at a table realistically made for 2 people comfortably. (Did I mention we were a table of 4 adults plus one high chair for a child?!) So, I asked the server if we could combine our table with the empty one next to us and reluctantly he did. So, hoping the food will outweigh the, so far, less than satisfactory service we begin looking through the menu. The chips and salsa get delivered to our table and to our dismay the salsa tastes like marinara sauce. Honestly, we should've left right then and there. But, again, we're HANGRY at this point. We order our food, including a LARGE cheese dip with jalapeños, (because, 4 adults and one greedy crumb snatcher) the server brings our cheese dip and I thought for sure he had made a mistake. So I say, "oh, sir we ordered a large" he says "that is a large". Y'all... this thing was no more than 1/2 cup serving size of cheese. Not only was the size of the cup concerning, but unlike most Mexican restaurants that chop up jalapeños into small dices, in the small cup of cheese they have about 6 SLICES of jalapeños. These are just small slices of jalapeños people, I'm talking like 4 slices probably made up your average sized jalapeño. So after that was finished within seconds, our foods comes to the table. I got the enchiladas supremas (4 enchiladas-one chicken, one beef, one bean, one cheese usually topped with lettuce and sour cream)- my usual dish at a Mexican place. I can't even actually explain how incredibly disgusting this plate was. First of all, they topped the enchiladas with a chopped up salad (not just shredded lettuce), literally chopped lettuce, carrots, and cabbage. There was NO enchilada sauce on top because it had all soaked into the soggy corn tortillas. The cheese enchilada was COLD AS ICE the cheese inside was still shredded- not melted at all. The bean was just absolutely disgusting and the beef was the only one that was even edible. Honestly, the only POSSIBLE way this place stays in business is probably from out of towners like myself who come up to visit Blue Ridge for the day and make the mistake of stopping at this place (probably because of the past good reviews). No way anyone is actually a return customer at that place. And if you are one of those people, y'all have no idea what DECENT Mexican food is- because it ain't that!!!!!! But you live and learn. This was a horrible experience. Not only did the waitress get our order completely incorrect, she noticed it was incorrect and brought it out anyway. The lettuce obviously came from a salad mix bag and had carrots and cabbage in it. No pico de gallo or avocado was on the order even though the menu clearly stated both ingredients. We ordered tostadas that normally come with shrimp or fish, after explaining that we didn't want shrimp or fish just the vegetables on that order, it not only came out incorrectly but she charged us full price! $11.50 a piece for tostada shells with no meat on them. When we bought a place in Blue Ridge I was so worried there wouldn't be a good Mexican restaurant. Finding the Mesquite Grill was such a thrill. I absolutely love this place. Every time we eat here the food is consistently yummy and the employees are so friendly! I have no idea why Monte Alban has more stars. We tried it and we were actually disappointed with our meals (shrimp diabla and shrimp fajitas). They were both pretty flavorless and we have no desire to go back there. Mesquite Grill has much better food (be sure not to miss the chicken burrito mojado) but truly everything is good. And tonight we even came in 5 minutes before they closed and were worried we'd be turned away. Instead we were greeted with big smiles and they were happy to have us. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Blue Ridge. I highly recommend it. read more

First trip was very impressive. Fast service, good food, and great service. Tonight was our 2nd trip and we got the EXACT opposite. Ok, so I realize it's a holiday weekend and Blue Ridge didn't have many places open on a Sunday, but this was ridiculous. We beat the rush by 10 min and were seated within 7 min. Then the wait of all waits started. Had to flag down a waiter to order and when asked who our waiter was he relied "we all just take orders wherever". Ok, seems like a poor business model but whatever. We ordered margaritas and cheese dip to start. Order was taken in a pretty trustworthy way but then apparently lost immediately. 49 minutes later we re-ordered drinks after having to flag down the initial waiter who, when asked if he forgot, simply said it's busy. All drink orders were then incorrect and after an additional 23 minutes he returned to say "your order has been lost, can I take your order again?" So in return I reasonably asked f our order would be expedited since we have now been here 1 hr and 24 minutes. His reply? "No, it's gonna be 25 minutes or so." No thank you, just give us the check. He did and as an apology he charged us for everything we ordered. Nope. What a horrible experience and we live here, so this will not be a recommendation to anyone I ever meet. Yes, it's busy, yes, it's a holiday weekend, but be pleasant, be efficient, be friendly and if you screw up, apologize. read more

We are visiting here from Atlanta. It's taco Tuesday and the ground beef tacos were actually great. Chimichanga was ok....nothing to brag about. The rice is white rice with corn and bland. Service and staff are very helpful and friendly. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the drinks are poured very lightly. If you like to enjoy a good margarita then I'd suggest asking for an extra shot. On a side note....if you like a Tito's and "soda" then be very clear. I was brought a Coke with Tito's. Which means soda actually is "Coke" and not a "club soda". Maybe I'm a little spoiled to ordering drinks in Atlanta...?? Either way, it's a decent place to eat Mexican food in the area. read more

Ordered the Volcan, it comes with chicken breast, flattened rib eye, chorizo sausage, pico de gallo. Fresh and yummy. Hubby had fajitas which were tasty but some of the veggies were burnt. My son had the beef and chicken burrito. Two thumbs up on that. I would have given five stars but fajita veggies took a bit away. I'll definitely be back though. read more
