We are originally from California, but we have lived in Tennessee for over 30 years. Chuy's is the only restaurant we've found that serves Tex-Mex with real cheddar cheese like west coast restaurants do. We have to drive 30 miles from our home in Cleveland, but it's so worth it. The salsa is excellent too. It's not watered down. If you like a little spice, try the Boom-Boom sauce over a burrito or some enchiladas. The service is good, the place is clean and they have a bar. We have been going to Chuy's for years. We have been to multiple locations in several states, but this location being way more disjointed than others. Service here recently has been chaotic and typically unhelpful with requests. Overall food is as expected and the environment is fun, but poor service and lack of effort in accommodations in both the hostess and service staff have made many visits undesirable. Noise levels are tame enough in their sectioned 'rooms', making conversations easy. Tex-Mex draws its cuisine from Texas, New Mexico and the bordering Mexico towns. You'll start off with complimentary chips and 2 kinds of salsa. The 'red' salsa is medium-hot 'spicy' level. It is filled with a myriad of flavors consisting of chunks of chopped tomatoes, onions, spices and fresh chopped cilantro. The creamy 'white' jalapeño salsa is out of this world spicy and a real keeper. This alone could be your meal if you're with a group and just having a good time along with a couple of cocktails - but wait - there's more! And Tex-Mex foods always go well with a margarita. Once again that I did themselves, we had a surprise birthday party last Saturday for a Friend and they were super in getting seating for eight people and then on Sunday after church, our Singles group went again to Chuy's and they had seating for 10 people.. I have my favorites at this restaurant and will try in different locations but get the same things every time. I also swing by often to get the jalapeño dip and chips and the tres leches cake. I love the jalapeño dip. It's so full of flavor and I will order it and use on my salad as well. The tres leches when really creamy is the best for me. The best service I've received from a restaurant staff, ever. We always get our food in a timely manner and the chips and dip given while we waited is delicious. The last food I ended up getting was great. The ambiance is truly unique. It has a very chill vibe with interesting scenery. My son left his retainer on a napkin and it was thrown away. The manager pulled bags of trash out of the dumpster and ripped them open himself and found the retainer. Cannot recommend this place enough! read more

Met the girls for "Friday Therapy". I had never been here and was surprised at the quirky decor. There is a wall of dog photos and the back end of a car in another wall. The best thing tho...the food! I indulged in a happy hour margarita and some crispy, thin, chips and salsa and a white dipping sauce. The salsa had a nice kick and the white sauce was tasty. Not sure how to describe it. I had the Chick a Boom Boom enchiladas. Plenty of chicken in the enchiladas and the sauce was unique. I put some of the salsa on the enchiladas, rice, and beans - and devoured it! The current menu is a smaller offering currently then the regular menu, which explains the limited choices. What can I say... I really love Chuys!! This is the third location Ive visited and have to give them 5 stars too. This time we were traveling during Coronavirus restriction times. They had finally opened during phase 1 for dine in. We were not sure we would stay, were thinking more to order and take out but when we saw how well they were following the safety instructions we decided to stay. They had both he inside and outside open. All staff wearing masks and tables "out of service" to keep the distance required between patrons. Inside was pretty empty. Just one table was occupied and they sat us on the other end. Felt pretty safe. Menu was a little limited, as they are just starting to reopen but they tried hard to get exactly what we wanted since they still had some of the ingredients in the kitchen. And service was quick and very friendly, as it's always been at all Chuys I've been to. Started with margaritas, and their awesome chips with dips. Creamy Jalapeño still being my favorite, our server brought extra for me. Among the green chile dip and regular salsa for my boyfriend. They had their taco dish on the menu but steak wasn't one of f the options. Still, that is what I was craving and seeing they had a steak burrito I asked if they could do it for the tacos too. "No problem, absolutely" she said and that is exactly what I got. Two soft tacos, with delicious tender steak with guacamole, pico de gallo and some lettuce on the side. It also comes with Mexican rice and refried beans. Not only do I love their food but I also love their portions. I always have leftovers for dinner or lunch the next day. And this was not the exception. After we were done, and packed everything to go, our server gave us containers to take home the sauces we liked and packed margaritas to go for us too. My husband I love eating here. This time we had the chicken fajitas for two with a queso appetizer. So good. I won't eat decried beans anywhere but here because they're that good. Wow! I am so glad the other place we went to first didn't have a liquor license and we left, because this place is so good! Shamecia greeted us warmly and not only asked what we would like to drink, but suggested several things, one of which my fiancé ordered. It was a really good margarita too! Again, as soon as Shamecia took our drink order she brought us the best salsa and jalapeño ranch dip we've ever had! She described it to us even including how spicy it might be and asked what our preferences were. We had menu questions and again, Shamecia was spot on! She made many suggestions based on our questions and we ordered the boom boom chicken based on her recommendation. She was again spot on with her suggestion! It was so good! Many Mexican restaurants overcook their chicken drying it out and making it bland. Not this dish! It was done with moist and tasty chicken with hot cheese inside each wrap! What a great dish! All the while Shamecia continued to check on us and even asked where we were from and she made several suggestions as to things we could do in the area! The food was great, but the biggest thing I took away from this experience was Shamecia. If we ever get back this way, we will eat here and be sure we ask for her! When you walk in the staff is extremely friendly and cheerful. Throughout the meal our server was attentive and friendly as well. I found their salsa to be flavorful and just the right heat. Now for their chips ... we'll those are amazing with very light, extremely crisp and a snap. What causes me to give them 3 instead of 4 stars is the beef options and flavor. There was very little of any seasoning I could detect in the ground beef. You can only choose ground beef unless ordering fajitas. If I missed it then that is my fault as they have a very large menu but I was looking for a bit trying to find a steak burrito or tacos. I have eaten their twice to give another shot since I was in town so long. I will end an improved note stating the chicken was good in a burrito I had. So.... Would I recommend giving them a try? I would say yes because my seasoning desires can vary wildly from yours and you may prefer ground beef. I am a bit more of a standard type Mexican cruise person and this as it says on the sign is Tex Mex. Please do not take this review as a "do not go there" type review but more of a clarity for those that may not understand Tex Amex vs say California Mexican type preparation. Again kudos to all the staff as they were all working so hard and again some of the friendliest I think I have encountered I quite some time. This is my 3rd Chuy's, so yes, I am probably a little biased. Having grown up in New Mexico, I am a fan of hatch green chili's. Over time it's to the point that if something n the menu has hatch green chili's I almost automatically order it. Chuy's has hatch chili's in a bunch of stuff. Although Chuy's originated in southern Texas and has Tex-mex dishes, it also has Mexican dishes and legit New Mexican dishes. The latter is one of the toughest things to find. Their green chili sauce recipe even comes from close to where I grew up so for me it all makes sense. When we popped in here the other day we were happy to see we were one of the only people. We made sure our table was clean and ordered up. First though, we added more chip dips. Chuy's has a few different dips they offer free of charge you just have to ask. We of course got the green chili salsa, along with their chili salsa. Both were fantastic. My gal ordered off the menu, steak tacos, which they obliged and made. The steak couldn't have been better, very lean. I got one of their dishes I have had a couple times the Chicka Chicka boom boom enchiladas. they were great as always. The server was very nice and considerate and the place was looking sharp. There's not much else I could say other than it's my favorite chain restaurant. This is one of the newer restaurants in the Chattanooga area but it is not new to me at all. I have a very high standards when it comes to Tex-Mex food because I lived in Houston for a long time. With that being said let's begin the review. The decor very bold and bright and vibrant. They even have a wall for people to hang pictures of their dogs and you get a appetizer for free. So far everything that I have tried has been very delicious and I'm also like the different types of they have hearing in heat and sauces and textures to have with your meal or with your chips and salsa. It could be a little bit more flavorful for me to give it a full five star on the Tex-Mex side of things but overall customer service cleanliness all that stuff makes it four stars for me I hope you enjoy it as I have every time I've gone and if it was too wet they made it milder for my palate bon appétit!!! read more

Full disclosure: we hadn't visited Chuy's since 2020, until today. Holy frijoles it's gone downhill and this will be our last visit. Sad. We really used to love their food. Lunch today was completely tasteless and the menu is so much more limited now. Two Stars: one for good service and one for speed. My only regret is there is no way to leave zero stars. That was my first reaction, but the customer service redeemed them. Ordered the steak carbon tacos and it was inedible. There was a thick piece of gristle and just ruined my first impression of this place. The manager did offer a new plate or replacement, but I am disappointed. The wife and kids loved their food.
