    Tomato pie

Family atmosphere with the crispiest crust on a delicious upside down pizza! I'm from North Jersey where the cheese is on top!

What a freaking great pizza! This was my first Trenton tomato pie. Better than Frank Pepe's? Ahhh, apples and oranges. This pie is unique, and stands on its own; crispy thin crust, sharp cheese on the bottom, tangy crushed tomatoes on top. Comparisons with New Haven apizza would be misguided and wrong headed. I chose anchovies, sausage and mootz for my toppings. Large pizza with three toppings, and delivery, $23.00. Well done, Danny's, well done!

Oh, Danny Boy.... Why so unassuming? Why hidden in a forlorn strip of 20th Century retail excess? Why aren't you sharing your gift with the entire Tomato Pie craving world? The lights. The lights are calling...! Your T. Pie is among the best I have sampled in my pizza-loving life. It is in the local pantheon of greatness occupied only by a few other mozzarella souls - DeLo's, JoJo's, Ivy Tavern, Joey's, and a few others in the Mecca of the Pizza Universe, Brooklyn. Micro thin crust firm enough to hold the topside without a quiver. Sauce, chunky and mildly sweet with a hint of basil. Cheese hidden beneath with a gentle saltiness to balance the smiling acidity above. Not a single drop of oil on the aluminum tray despite a spritz of pressed olive applied as the final touch before reaching the oven. And, the sweet Italian sausage, home grown, and crumbled around the disk amply, with a wonderful aroma and fresh textured taste. Though you labor in obscurity, Danny, your artistry is not lost on those who treasure the magic only a steamy right out of the oven slice of heaven can provide.

Pizza was good and the employees were friendly. It would have been nice to be offered plates when dinning with three little children. They offered us house bread and oil, it was delicious. There was hardly anyone there when we came in. There is no where to sit for groups. Each table only accommodates four, so our family of five was awkwardly sitting around a table. There were three people in the restaurant when we came in, but they left shortly after we ordered. The employees were cooking a lot of pizzas, so they must have had some going out for delivery. I would have given more stars, but again, offer plates when there are children eating.

Great crispy crust. Not too heavy. Have had Grandma, Brooklyn, Tomato Pies and all have been consistently crisp and delicious.

The pizza was mediocre and they completely forgot about half of our order - then brought out the wrong salad.

Friendly staff, consistently good pizza. Chicken fingers also pretty good. Not great ambience for eat-in, would recommend for take-out.

Delivery was slow, the delivery person in the red fire bird left a cigarette butt in my pizza and was rude when I didn't want to tip.

I wish I could duplicate the Jersey pizza I grew up on a love but hope springs eternal. From time to time I splurge and make my way to Salernos. It is everything I remember and love about pizza growing up in the area. I also enjoy the warm family atmosphere, quality food and reasonable prices, I've had other pizza in the area, not of my own choice, but I can say with all certainty that Salernos is the better option in the area. Buon appetito!

The decor could use some updating. It was a bit dark, albeit clean. There were too women who appeared to be servers that came over to bring us our menus, which is quite extensive, and take our beverage order. Neither spoke much English, nor understood it very well. One indicated she was new. This place is owned by a husband and wife who are very much Italian. Accent and all. Maria, one of the owners came over to verify our orders since the waitresses were slightly unclear when presenting our orders to the kitchen staff. Our salads that came with the meal were fresh and good. You could also get the soup of the day. Two of us ordered the chicken francaise. One got the veal francaise and the other got a turkey wrap with french fries. Overall, the food was very good. I encountered a slight issue with one of the pieces of chicken. It was still slightly pink on part of it. I let the staff know, and Maria came out and apologized. She had us pick a dessert no charge. My coworker who had the veal said it was slightly tough, but still flavorful. Had my chicken been pounded thin it would've alleviated any under cooking. I digress. When back in the area, I will have to sample their pizza.

It wasn't showing up on my account. I called the restaurant and they were able to find and confirm. I don't know if it's an Open Table glitch. They were so accommodating upon arrival when our party went from 9 people to 7. The staff was amazing and on top of everything. We ordered apps off the dining room menu but they let us order large pizzas instead of the 12" ones. We had calamari and bacon wrapped shrimp. I love that they offer the calamari in both fried and grilled. I was outvoted on the grilled but I have to say that the squid was perfectly cooked. Not chewy or fishy at all. Very tender. The breading was light and not greasy at all. The bacon wrapped shrimp were interesting. The shrimp were huge. They were drenched in BBQ sauce. I thought it was ok but I'm not sure about the flavor combo. We ordered a large plain and a large pepperoni. I thought the plain was delicious. The dough was good and not too much flop. The sauce was a bit sweet, which I like. The only issue is that the cheese and sauce didn't stick to the dough so it slid off while cutting. Overall, I think they did a great job with a large group during weekday lunch.
