Ordered 2 pizzas for carry out. They were reheated, not fresh. Nowhere near fresh. Leathery crust. It might be great fresh out of the oven, but serving leftovers when whole pies are ordered, not slices, is a real disappointment. So much for Trenton's Tomato Pie. Yuch!

PIZZA BY THE SLICE REVIEW Nova Trattoria recently moved to this location, replacing the Mexican casa that was there before. It is a smallish space with a row of tables along the wall, with kitchen on the opposite side behind another wall that gives the appearance of being a very narrow dining room. I ordered a slice of Brooklyn pie and another tradition regular triangle. The Brooklyn slice was pretty good - thin crust, Marzano sauce and dollops of mozza in a square pan. It was firm, crisp and pleasantly chewy. The regular slice was not as good. The crust was limp despite requesting it be reheated well done, and there was ample oil drip onto the paper plate. Just not a strong presentation. The price was good at around $5 for the slices and bottle of water. Service was pleasant from start to finish. There is much better pizza and tomato pie right nearby.

Chicken Marsala delivered. So good :-)

The food is very good. I always order the same thing...chicken Marsala w/ potatoes and pork and figs. The chicken is so juicy and tender and the sauce with the mushrooms is the best I've had in the area. The pork and figs appetizer is tasty. I was skeptical at first and when I tried it, I was hooked. The salmon appetizer, lobster in cognac sauce over mashed potatoes appetizer...tasty. Delivery has always been fast, food delivered nice and hot. The ONLY reason why I don't give this place 5 stars is simple...inconsistency in flavor. There were times that I've ordered where the food was bland and not enough sauce and Marsala flavor which irks me because there were many times I've had it and it was so damn good.

Upon being seated, it took about ten minutes for anyone to come take our order. When a waitress realized that nobody had come over to service, she said she would find someone. The waitress who did end up serving us seemed to be training someone. Even with the two of them, though, it took forever to get refills on drinks and anything else we needed. By the time we finally got the check, we couldn't wait to get out of there. The salad was quite good with fresh ingredients and a nice dressing on the side. The pizza was not my favorite, but it was decent and my husband enjoyed it. The atmosphere is casual with a somewhat cheesy Italian vibe, but if it weren't for the service, I would have maybe found it charming.

This quickly became a favorite restaurant of ours before they even brought the appetizers! First off, the atmosphere was casual and upscale at once-- we had come here spontaneously so we weren't dressed up and we didn't feel out of place, but the table settings and fun decor felt like the right level of elegance to enjoy this great meal. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in to ensure we were having a great meal, and our waters were always filled. Now, the best part: food! There were at least 25 menu options we got excited about and eventually we narrowed it down to the bacon wrapped scallops with an INCREDIBLE pesto honey mustard sauce, veal sorrento which my boyfriend really liked, and Chef Chris's Grilled Salmon which was AWESOME. The salmon is perfectly grilled with baby shrimp, crab meat, tomatoes, and basil on top. Literally INCREDIBLE. It comes in a garlic cream sauce with broccoli rabe (made RIGHT! not bitter at all!) on the side. We had so much fun dining here, and noticed a casual fare deli side to the place that we'll have to check out the next time we're back! Which is bound to be soon!

I truly cannot say enough about the food--my daughter and I were blown away (and I wish I had taken pictures!). She loved it so much she ordered a second dish to take home for the next day. As someone who eats carb-free, I was incredibly grateful for how gracious and accommodating the kitchen was--no fuss, no awkward substitutions, just pure, delicious perfection. My daughter absolutely raved about her veal, the rotini salad, and the mushroom barley soup to boot. And a special nod to the BYO--near and dear to my heart. I'll happily bring a lovely bottle of wine for $12 rather than pay $20 for less impressive options. Five stars all around. Cheers to you, Carlucci's Grill--you've earned a loyal fan.

Pros: I genuinely can't think of a single favorable aspect of our dining experience…read more Cons: Everything--from the service, to the table spacing, to the food quality--was an issue. The ambiance and layout were problematic throughout the meal. The table spacing was already uncomfortably tight from the start, and toward the end of our visit, a party of 10 was seated in a way that completely blocked off the front left side of the already small dining area. This left only a narrow path on the right side for entry and exit. Given how confined the space became, it raised legitimate concerns about safety and whether the layout could pose an issue in the event of an emergency. After waiting 40 minutes for the complimentary bread, I finally had to speak up and ask for it to be brought to our table. Given that there were several open tables both inside and outside, we couldn't understand why there was such a tremendous delay with such a simple task. For an additional "starter" my dining partner ordered the Caesar salad which was completely drenched in dressing. While we were initially excited about the homemade pasta entrees, we were extremely disappointed once out they arrived. I understand that homemade pasta is typically served al dente, but neither dish was cooked properly. I had to cut my pasta with a knife because a fork simply wasn't enough, and my dining partner couldn't cut several pieces of his pasta at all--some were still noticeably crunchy. I was especially surprised, as I've dined here before and don't recall these kinds of issues--perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we weren't able to address any of this during the meal because our waitress, Marti, never checked on us from the time she delivered our entrees (about an hour after we were seated). Not once, not even upon delivering the check did she ask us how our meals were! Before leaving, I chose to address the server, Marti, directly and share our experience. I expressed my disappointment with both the service and the food, but her response made an already bad experience significantly worse. Every comment was met with a large, clearly insincere smile and a dismissive "I'm sorry to hear that," with no effort to actually resolve anything. A good server would show genuine remorse, offer to involve a manager, or at the very least attempt to make things right--whether by addressing the issue or offering to comp part of the meal. None of that happened. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no real acknowledgment of the situation--just a phony, rehearsed response that felt completely disrespectful. To make matters worse, shortly after we left, my dining partner became ill, experiencing both diarrhea and nausea, along with severe stomach pain that has now lasted over 14 hours and is still ongoing. If I could give this experience a 0 out of 5, I would.

The space is very minimalist with nothing but 2 photos (?) on the walls. As the night progressed the noise level increased but not overwhelming so. I was concerned about the size of the menu with there being around 28 various entrees. In the past I've learned that less is usually best making it easier for the kitchen to perfect their dishes. This total did not include the 2(?) Special entrees. I chose the special Risotto Carbonara with guanciale, cream, mushrooms and cheese and was disappointed. The risotto was overcooked with the usual risotto "bite" missing. There was little seasoning in the dish and not much in the way of quantity of guanciale. In comparison, the Osso Bucco was very good with a rich gravy and side of mashed potatoes. I'm not sure if I'd return. BYO.
