first and foremost, I hate to say this just because I don't like leaving bad reviews so please keep that in mind. I am an avid supporter of our local businesses here within the Sonoma, Napa, Lake County as well as Marin County areas. I went in this morning and bought four donuts and three drinks. This came out to a total of about $40. Our order of a chocolate twist doughnut, a cake with crumble doughnut, and two crueller doughnuts. Somehow ended up with us getting a bag with a danish and a different doughnut that we did not asked for, upon asking him to please correct the order because he had already charged us and luckily we had looked in the bags he took back the two items and replaced it with our chocolate twist that we did ask for and then handed us back a dollar as compensation. I wanted to hand the dollar back and give him another dollar to give us those two items back, but obviously I wasn't trying to start an altercation over it. It also was not very welcoming when we arrived. The man at the register seemed to be in a bad mood and it was not just noticeable, but also his actions were that of someone that was disgruntled And made the atmosphere feel heavy. The weight of the silence upon walking in and lack of welcoming, as well as lack of attention to our order definitely did not make this a place where we wanted to go again. I truly hope that things change a bit, and that this business is prosperous and has longevity for the sake of the owners, I always give a second chance and maybe I'll wait a few months to see how things go and I will update then. I hope that this review helps. I know it was a bit long so my apologies for that. To the owners and workers at danish and donuts though, I asked that you please do better. Solid selection of sugary classics with seating inside. Our sprinkle donuts this morning were especially puffy which I appreciate. Also the French crueler is really good. Not very welcoming but provide consistent service. Nice selection of cold beverages and coffee for purchase, including espresso drinks. BUT, I feel like these are kinda pricey: $18 for half dozen and cash only. Removing a star for the cost. Also noting they're closed Mondays. read more

Very quick & attentive services on Monday morning, approx 8:05am, 03/02/26. Ordered Bagle with Cream Cheese and Medium Latte. Bagle & latte were good. It's pretty loud with the local diners. I'm quite disappointed as the cashier over charges, not as posted on the menu. When asked why you charge more than the menu posted. I was told the price has gone up and didn't have a chance to change it yet. I would understand if tell when I ordered. Or, use a little paper to cover of the price increase. Very disappointed! Sadly, although I love nothing more than a good donut, I cannot recommend this establishment. The unwelcoming feeling prevails as I enter the door and only worsens throughout my visit. Ugh, this place. About 75% of the time the donuts are fresh & delicious. Parking is decent and the location is convenient. My problem is with the nasty service. They go far beyond just being unfriendly or cold. They are often terribly rude. Unfortunately, it's often to women and Latinos. It's not okay and I will not shop here. Should have believed the other reviews, but I really wanted a donut and it was on the way. I had the old-fashioned (normally a favorite) and it had a totally off flavor, just didn't taste right. Also bought a double chocolate, which seemed like it was a day old, despite the sign that says made fresh daily. The older guy behind the counter, didn't seem to want to be there. Danish and Donuts (previously Danish and Donut) is a no-frills cash-only donut shop, like the hole in the walls you'd find in downtown San Francisco, except on Hwy 12 in Sonoma. I've only been here on weekend mornings, so I can't speak for donut quality or freshness outside of these peak days/hours. But the donuts I've had from here are my favorite in all of wine country. Sometimes they do sell out of a lot of options, so I suggest arriving before 10am. Don't worry if they sell out of your favorite, just try something new! That's how I discovered two of my new favorites, the glazed buttermilk bar and the cinnamon twist. I like that the donuts are not too sweet. I also am obsessed with the self-serve coffee station. It's not fancy coffee, it's simple donut shop coffee. It pairs perfectly with the donuts. I would avoid the pastries (non-donuts) as I think they are made from frozen and not made in house. About the service: this is a no-frills place. I know that doesn't make it ok to be rude. I personally don't feel anyone has been rude to me here. If lack of smiling and asking how you're doing today will bother you in donut shop customer service, this might not be the place for you. I am ok with that kind of service in this scenario. It's donuts. How many questions are there really? Just point to what you want and done. If you need someone to explain all the donuts to you, for instance, I'd suggest somewhere different. My wife and I are here for our honeymoon and the male owner we talked to has easily been the most unpleasant person we've talked to since we've been here. I drive 20 minutes one way - up and down mountains, over hill and dale - to get these donuts on Sunday mornings. The old fashioned donuts, particularly the chocolate ones are an easy 10 out of 10. Crunchy, sweet dough with a hint of salt and a thick but not overdone coating of chocolate icing. It really doesn't get better than this. The other offerings are excellent too. Bear claw? Check! Picked up some donuts this morning, it was 9:15ish and they'd already run out of some of the flavored donuts! I ordered a cinnamon brown sugar & blueberry cake donut, when I got home I was disappointed to find that I was given a sugar donut instead of the cinnamon brown sugar one. Though I didn't get the donut I wanted it was delicious, very light and fluffy my husband said his blueberry cake donut was tasty as well with many whole blueberries. I came here today super excited to try their donuts and walked out agitated. First I asked the attendant, so you make your donuts in the morning and then just sell out every afternoon and then throw away the left overs or sell them the next day? And he just looked at me and said nothing and I asked again and he said "yeah". Then I was looking at the donuts and I asked the front desk attendants (Asian guy) what the difference between a cake and raised is. His response, "cake is cake". Then I asked if the chocolate bar has any filling. His response: "what you see is what you see, a chocolate bar". Then I asked, yeah but is there anything in it or not? And he said "no nothing". He was just super rude and short with me the whole time. When I went to pay, their debit card system is actually an ATM, so I was charged $1.75 for using my debit card to buy 2 donuts. customer service incredibly rude! read more

Most jelly filled donuts are super sweet and/or have an overly thickened consistency but these are the best. My family and I come here often and have for years. OMG!!!! THE BEST APPLE FRITTER EVER!!!! Ive always been pretty whatever about apple fritters, but three of us each voted this apple fritter as many levels beyond any other we've had. When you pick up the fritter, it's much lighter than you'd expect. Instead of doughy and dense, this one is light with a wonderfully crisp exterior. There's lots of cinnamon apple inside and the fritter is in no way soggy. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area. I'd even consider adding a detour next time I'm driving up through wine country. Venue is clean, looks and feels like a standard donut shop. Owner (I believe) is friendly and helpful. Your standard run of the mill donuts, good, but nothing to go out of your way for. This donut location has been in Sonoma forever, so they have ample years of donuts making experience. First and foremost, the donuts are good, but I feel like with the ample selection of donut shops in Sonoma County gives you a good choice in terms of a favorite shop. I have visited Danish and Donuts quite a few times in my lifetime, but as many have put it the cash only business model really puts me off as I rarely carry cash anymore. The parking situation is not too bad as there is a large lot across the street, but I usually can find parking in their small lot on most days. As for the staff, it is hit or miss, some days you get a great employee happy to greet you and others you get a straight face individual hoping you make you decision as fast as possible. That is not a negative experience, but can make you feel a tad awkward at times honestly. Pricing for donuts is very affordable, but quite honestly I have only come across one donut shop in Sonoma County that was a tad high on the pricepoint (The donuts were well worth it though). So if you are looking for a decent donut shop, which requires cash only (ATM on site), then I'd suggest a quick drop in. I come to Napa/Sonoma at least twice a year and I always stop by here. I have been on a quest my whole life to find the ultimate Maple Bar, and so far this place is in the #1 position.
